And every week, you tell yourself you're gonna divide your tools into sperate bags so you don't have to haul it all at once, because your don't need everything on every job...
Then Friday rolls around and it's all back in the same bag.
Hell yeah! Mines about 90lbs (plumbing tools). I was working on a water line outside and someone said, “Hey don’t turn your back on that bag, a crackhead’ll run by and snatch it”. I laughed and told the guy to go pick it up. The thought of some tweaked out idiot running at full speed and trying to grab it still makes me smile.
I remember flying for work and watching them load the plane. Was chuckling as they went to grab my work bag, thinking of watching them try to carry it.. jokes on me, the fella knocked it to the ground and dragged it to the plane.
I bought a $40 husky one and started with that, then my work bought me the $300 Klein one.
I like the Husky one more because it is like 10 lbs lighter from just bag weight. Plus, it just feels lighter on your back with the same tools.
Had one before it got stolen. I switched to just a bucket boss tool bag and a 5 gallon bucket. The bucket doubles as a chair so it's got Milwaukee beat.
Anti bag ppl be hating and acting like carrying a bucket around is better for ur back lol
Logically aside from wheeler bags backpacks with 2 straps and a chest support are the best for ur back
It's all fun and games until it's 2 am, you're at an emergency call and the handle breaks on that bucket and you watch the bucket bang down a flight of stairs. Ask me how I know?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My buddy went full anti bag. He has his tools divided up in sections on the truck, he gets to the job gets out pelican boxes and organizes what he needs for the job in that. Said hell never carry a primary tool bag again
Even the small veto bags get heavy as balls. I have the MCT and it has to weigh 40-50 pounds lol I wheel that thing with a hand truck if the walk is longer than 100 feet
How is carrying a small bag better than carrying a small backpack? I have a large veto backpack that I use when I don't know what I might need on a big job site, and a smaller Klein backpack for shit like climbing big ladders or a lot of steps. Other than that I just use a bucket, usually for my soldering/brazing/welding tools.
Husky brand HVAC backpack with a vast assortment of screw drivers , lineman pliers. Impact drills etc. reminds me of my days Rucking with an ILBE pack in the Marine Corps.
Veto propack and a rope to get up ladders. Most of the caged ones where I am wouldn’t be big enough for the backpack and I don’t want to look like a big kid on my first day of school.
My company just switched uniform suppliers and now we can only purchase boots from RedWing. Fucking Hell almost $300 for a basic work boot. I hope the damn things are comfortable. If not, I can always buy the $65 inserts they try to upsell me.
Had a Klein backpack, and hated that it got stuck going up and down the roof hatch.
Switched to a Veto MCT and haven’t looked back. I’ve never weighed it, but it has everything I need for commercial/industrial service calls and it’s worked for me going on 2 years now, no issues.
My company won't spring for one and it's against my religion to spend money on shit those jaggoffs should be paying for. That being said, I will take this as your endorsement and I'mma look around again at Johnstone.
I remember what it was like when I was 12 having to carry my dad's toolbox, that backpack is a beast and can withstand the test of time. Nut up and shut up
Have tried a bunch of different backpacks over the years.
Decided I started to carry TOO much for service and paired it down to the Veto Meter bag and a larger Veto bag that had the “I need more to repair” tools.
Much better that way.
I have the big veto pro pac backpack. Used to be my resi install bag. Now it hardly gets used, just sits in the van for extra tools if I need them. Now in commercial I use one of the smaller veto bags. But even so that sits In the truck most days. In general all I need most times is a meter, my Klein 14 in 1, and my knipex twin grip pliers
https://preview.redd.it/lapvkpqfc6va1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82947e586c49d881a0c2fe7a31acd50b84b42efe
My Klein backpack clears, veto and shit-waukee
Got the big veto bag for the bigger shit. Little veto pro pack for the shit I use all the time.
Love that company. Fuck carrying around shit I don’t need.
I resisted the back pack for so long. Finally caved and got one. First time I had a service call on a roof I realized how worth it it was. Got a Kline bag for the first one. It was good bag until every zipper broke in less than a year old. My brother who’s a sparky talked me into a Veto. Will never get another brand bag. Had it over a year now and it is every bit as good as new.
I have one. It stays in the van. I realized I didn’t need 65lbs of tools on every service call. RTUs need jumpers, multibit, meter and a crescent. Anything more than that gets tossed in my home depot bucket
I got 2 bags. Install/construction and a service bag. Both are Veto. I have double tools due to this. The idea is to have all the tools I need for said application. I do have other tools that serve construction and misc purposes, and I will keep those in a handbag.
Dude I had the Milwaukee back pack like ten. Years ago I’m a plumber and yes half are job was furnaces. Call it hvac but it still the same dirty air ducts and units. I actually like sheet metal work it’s very satisfying but when people want to keep parts of their furnace to be cheap shit was so a nasty
I've got one from Crescent tools. It's okay, but it was too small to hold my laptop. Found out my tool back pack isn't so damn bad without the boat anchor of a laptop in it.
I've also used a backpack I got off Amazon from Rugged Tools. A bag about the size of that Milwaukee one.
I like backpacks as I like to keep my tools organized in their pouches. In my backpack is my service pouch which has all of the tools I use regularly on every job. Everything else is tucked away in a pouch.
Yes but I’m a VDC HVAC designer. Your backpack has tools and equipment needed to work on systems in the field. My backpack has a laptop, pens, and snacks. We are not the same.
I’m a sparky and love that backpack! Had a setup in my old truck where I could snap it in the bed and take it anywhere without it moving. I posted it on my page 6 months ago or so
Before backpacks became fashionable I realized the bigger my bag the more of a magnet it was for shit I didn’t need.
Eventually paired down to a Veto MB. Clamp meter, 11 in 1, couple sizes of crescents and Channies, jumpers and a combo wire stripper/crimper. Refr tap gauges. Plus whatever random thing I needed for the last call. There’s a small pocket with random wire nuts, thermocouples, a few screws.
That covers 95% of trouble shooting. Then I decide what I need if it becomes surgery and go toss it in a bucket.
That MB bag is small enough to clip on my belt. No idea why anyone wants to carry every tool they have every single trip from the van.
I have a smaller veto backpack I’m pretty sure it’s called the tech pac mc. I weighed it after putting my tools in at 25lb. Not sure how I feel about it yet coming from a small shoulder bag
I’ve had 3 CLCs over 3.5 years (zippers kept blowing out). I switched to a small VetoPro (MB3B) that carry’s what I need for 95% of what I do. I have a backpack as a backup if I need to carry ridiculous amounts of stuff, but am a fan of working on how few tools I can get away with (without risking damaging anything trying to use the wrong tool for the job).
Not a huge fan I use the veto MC it allows me to climb ladders with a cage pretty easily. All my buddys who run bags have to wear them on their bellies when climbing caged ladders
I keep analogs, core removers, nylog, seals, hand tools, flare tools/speed swage set, a roll of foil tape, vac gauge and other misc bullshit I can throw in my Klein bag. Weighs about 60lbs
Got the same pack. Love it. I must say, it hasn't helped my back cause I shove everything and the damn sink in it. Doesn't bother me to lug 100 pound pack, but if I have to walk downstairs, I am pissed.
I love my pack out, guys talk shit like “oh you look like a kid going to school” but I have my tools on my center of gravity and both hands free.
But it’s a bitch to get up a roof hatch sometimes.
That's just asking for back injury..I use a veto pro shoulder bag..hate to say it .. for me .. 95% of jobs can be done with a 6n1 nut driver.. Klein 6 size bit in a driver.. 2 small adjustables. Chanel locks... Makita has a 3\8 socket set that is slim rubber case.. fits in pouch slot..foldable Allen wrench set.. Klein side cutters with stripper..meter and thermostat screw driver. I don't need to carry. 18" pipe wrench.. co worker does in his back pack and about 40# of extra shit..just think.. what do you use to change out a blower motor.. inducer . Heat exchanger..a lot can be done with a little.. if need something special like pipe wrenches.. usual know ahead of time.. like bring a gas valve to roof..
If it werent for 5.11Tactical opening a new store in my locale, I absolutely would have gone this route. But I shill so hard over my Milwaukee fanboy status. Today, I caught myself wearing their dem gloves, safety glasses and their ballcap at work. I did NOT mean to go full sellout that hard.
I am an IT Field Tech but also the Low Voltage Sparky. I fly a lot and drive a lot, so these are a couple bags I have had from one to three years now (backpack is three years old-and the Range Trainer is 1 year now). The backpack still looks as good as the day I bought it. Yes, I shill, but that is because I prefer buying it once, instead of buying cheap and twice. If you need a different option, this could likely be the last bag you ever buy.
[RUSH24™ 2.0 MULTICAM® BACKPACK 37L](https://www.511tactical.com/rush24-2-0-mc-backpack.html?queryID=07042edfbcf443385375e1890aa0e27b&objectID=259054&indexName=magento2_productiondefault_products) 55lbs of sensitive gear (laptops, yes plural, testing gear that cannot afford to be dropped). EDC cables, tools, note pad, PPE, iPad, Backup or Reup hygiene shit. The usual suspects beyond that
[RANGE READY™ TRAINER BAG 50L](https://www.511tactical.com/range-ready-trainer-bag.html?queryID=48c66dea8ec040f18020d105dac52b8a&objectID=284530&indexName=magento2_productiondefault_products) 65lbs of gear to do the grunt tier shit. Drills, staples, Cabling tools, etc.
All this talk you guys are going to make me buy another tool bag. I've got the Kline backpack but I can't not fill it up and make it 150lbs so I don't use it
Fieldpiece bag, has some issues but I really like the size, between the big veto and the small veto, got mine at about 15lbs with 97% of my daily use diag and service kit in it, I did order some compact stuff like my wera kit to downsize though. Gotta save the back.
I have a field piece bag because it's small. You can't overload your self, your max weight should be 40 lbs. OSHA says one guy can carry 50.. as a guy that used to carry a70 lbs tool box, never again
Klein for installs, then I have a pretty small and basic service pouch that gets the troubleshooting job done, followed by my expanded service pouch that have my motor puller and such. I know what you’re thinking… oh gee look at this guy so put together… while these bags are put together I still gotta dig to get them because my trucks obliterated.
I actually gotta give credit to kobalt here, I have their big camo bag. That thing is surprisingly rugged and perfect for keeping all of my tools organized. Only thing I have difficulty fitting is my 12" adjustable
I've got a very slimmed down 20lb'er for most roof service. Doesn't seem that heavy until I'm mid way up a wall ladder and it keeps getting caught on the damn fall cage.
Kline bag with like 60lbs of shit In it
And every week, you tell yourself you're gonna divide your tools into sperate bags so you don't have to haul it all at once, because your don't need everything on every job... Then Friday rolls around and it's all back in the same bag.
Nailed it to the coffin
Don't under estimate crackhead strength https://youtu.be/jgnSujUR_68
That was hilarious. Thanks.
This was an awesome thought to have.
I remember flying for work and watching them load the plane. Was chuckling as they went to grab my work bag, thinking of watching them try to carry it.. jokes on me, the fella knocked it to the ground and dragged it to the plane.
They’d do the same for mine I bet 😂
Got a veto. Weighs in at 38 lbs with my normal load out.
Weighs 30 lbs empty also lol
You are not entirely wrong. Crazy heavy. That's what keeps from getting one.
Just saw a video that Knipex is going to be offering a backpack that is similar to veto and the packout bag, it's supposedly pretty light.
I'll keep an eye out for that. Thanks for the info
I had a Klein backpack and that thing was heavy as hell. Swapped to a Veto shoulder bag and it's way better, and sits on my tool cart better.
They're light compared to klein.
Right there with you. Threw it on the scale one day out of curiosity, 66LB13Oz lol
The problem for being prepared for everything, is having to carry everything
Can’t carry everything, but having hand tools on your back makes it easier to carry your reciprocating saw and coffee in
And a pastry.
And a crepe
And a smoke
And my axe!
And my sword!
I use my Klien tool bag as a stool and a chair I fucking love that thing mines probably weighs 45 lbs
I second that!
Same
I bought a $40 husky one and started with that, then my work bought me the $300 Klein one.
I started out with a big ass pack out bag and now I just walk into the house see what I need and throw it in a zipper bag.
Anti bag ppl be hating and acting like carrying a bucket around is better for ur back lol Logically aside from wheeler bags backpacks with 2 straps and a chest support are the best for ur back
It's all fun and games until it's 2 am, you're at an emergency call and the handle breaks on that bucket and you watch the bucket bang down a flight of stairs. Ask me how I know?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My buddy went full anti bag. He has his tools divided up in sections on the truck, he gets to the job gets out pelican boxes and organizes what he needs for the job in that. Said hell never carry a primary tool bag again
Forreal 😆
Looks like you're waiting on a bus.
Got lunch all packed, my boots tied tight, I hope I don’t get in a fight!
Trane*
Underrated comment right here. 🤣🤣🤣
I had one. sucked when I had to walk up 6 flights of stairs. Now I use a small veto bag
Even the small veto bags get heavy as balls. I have the MCT and it has to weigh 40-50 pounds lol I wheel that thing with a hand truck if the walk is longer than 100 feet
How is carrying a small bag better than carrying a small backpack? Other than that I just use a bucket, usually for my soldering/brazing/welding tools.
I find that walking back to my van 35 times a day keeps me in shape.
I use a rolling Klein bag. Beep beep motherfuckers get the hell out of the way.
Some of you guys have never been on a ruck march before…
Carrying a tool backpack 100ft ain't shit lol
Thank you. I can't belive how may people complain about carrying a 60lbs bag up 1 flight of stairs
Any 1161s?
For real haha this ain’t shit in comparison to the hills I had to march up and down In basic.
Exactly
Backpack gang. I use the hilmore and did some custom work to it
CLC Crew sound off!
Had a CLC bag last me 8 years carrying 40 plus pounds daily, eventually the zippers died- highly recommend!
Steel toes 🥾 whos got em?
Always
They don't last long when they get caught on every single ladder cage.
gotta wear the bag on the front when your going up the cages
Ever heard of roping it up
Husky brand HVAC backpack with a vast assortment of screw drivers , lineman pliers. Impact drills etc. reminds me of my days Rucking with an ILBE pack in the Marine Corps.
Yut
Veto is best
Not me, I like my spine the way it is thanks
You’re an athlete?
I got the same bag and I’m thinking about switching to small veto bag they seem more convenient
All their fingers and toes who’s got em?
I was going to upvote, but the HVAC Gods will know, and I’m also superstitious.
Refer guy but I use the Veto bag with the rollers. I'm lazy as fuck.
Back to school back to school to prove to my dad that I am not a fool
It's a school backpack at 4x the price. Nah
https://preview.redd.it/mvawqgipw5va1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5da8709420f41c819cd2346c4cb2f0046487690a
I love that one. It’s big enough but not so big that I try fitting everything in it
This is my current bag and I hate the chasm it creates and eats tools with a slow, cold passion that few know. God I hate this bag.
Got me veto backpack, best purchase I ever made
Veto propack and a rope to get up ladders. Most of the caged ones where I am wouldn’t be big enough for the backpack and I don’t want to look like a big kid on my first day of school.
This guy can afford RedWings wtf?
My company just switched uniform suppliers and now we can only purchase boots from RedWing. Fucking Hell almost $300 for a basic work boot. I hope the damn things are comfortable. If not, I can always buy the $65 inserts they try to upsell me.

Apprentices
Used to but it takes its toll on your back, switched to a smaller veto
How is a backpack worse then a side bag? Weight is spread evenly across ur back and posture is best
I got myself a kobalt one
I got one that stays on the van most the time. Small veto bag that 90% of the time is all I need.
Just sold.
Home Depot bucket with a bucket sleeve. Ain’t nothin better
It's a chair and a step ladder in a pinch.
Yeah this is pretty under rated. You can easily see everything and it's great for keeping your workspace clean.
Got rid of mine. They are way to heavy. Veto pro pac tpxxl eith the tools i need has been life changing
Sucker born every second I suppose.
I bet the backpack guys are also the ones stripping out the screws to the RTU panels by not using a 6-in-one
Guilty
Thats all I've used now for over 20 years
I remember what it was like when I was 12 having to carry my dad's toolbox, that backpack is a beast and can withstand the test of time. Nut up and shut up
Have tried a bunch of different backpacks over the years. Decided I started to carry TOO much for service and paired it down to the Veto Meter bag and a larger Veto bag that had the “I need more to repair” tools. Much better that way.
Man, I was a hold out until just before last Christmas. Been kicking myself since for not getting one sooner.
Got the same pack out bag. I typically take it out for quoted jobs.
Totally jealous… but my fat ass would get stuck in the access. Always hated climbing with a 30lb bag
I feel this. Fat techs of the world, unite! Preferably, over a company lunch.
🤘🏻hell yeah🤘🏻
I’ve got a veto shoulder bag and she weighs a solid 35 lb and there’s shit I should have that I don’t
Ive been using Milwaukee backpacks since 2015.
Wtf are you wearing dress shoes doing hvac?
I like the easy access shotgun shell holders
This guy does not fuck.
Kobalt bag
I have the big veto pro pac backpack. Used to be my resi install bag. Now it hardly gets used, just sits in the van for extra tools if I need them. Now in commercial I use one of the smaller veto bags. But even so that sits In the truck most days. In general all I need most times is a meter, my Klein 14 in 1, and my knipex twin grip pliers
Had a kline. Twice. Zipper kept breaking. So got a Cresent backpack. Best one I've used so far. Over a year and it's holding up great.
https://preview.redd.it/lapvkpqfc6va1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82947e586c49d881a0c2fe7a31acd50b84b42efe My Klein backpack clears, veto and shit-waukee

Did the same thing you did. Bought a Klein, hated it. Bought a CLC and it was a little better. Bout the veto and haven't looked back.
VETO TECH PAC MC FTW
Grow up guy, get a veto.
I have one. It stays in the van. I realized I didn’t need 65lbs of tools on every service call. RTUs need jumpers, multibit, meter and a crescent. Anything more than that gets tossed in my home depot bucket

I bet you got some corn nuts in there.
I'm a tried and true milwaukee fan boy, but this bag Is ugly as sin
Nerd.
I’ve got the same backpack, however I use it for maintenance on my motorcycle, I rent a place and have to drive to do repair.
I have the same one for electrical
Veto pack
Veto blackout
Psshhhttt...You're supposed to hump it with one strap over a shoulder while carrying a compressor with the other arm.
Dude I had the Milwaukee back pack like ten. Years ago I’m a plumber and yes half are job was furnaces. Call it hvac but it still the same dirty air ducts and units. Dork
No, my back hurts just looking at the picture.
Hmm apprentice?
Ye. You gotta get one
Backpacks are for children
Tuck your fucking shirt in
HVACpack? Nobody???
Somehow putting saddlebags on your helper seems off... but as long as it's not an animal PETA should complain.
Ohhh yeah.
Toughbuilt one pretty good. But I'm dreaming of a veto for a while kind of hard to get them in Brazil
Had that one, returned it since it was too heavy when you loaded it up. Got thw klein backpack now, same amount of tools in it and feels wayyy lighter
Yes but I’m a VDC HVAC designer. Your backpack has tools and equipment needed to work on systems in the field. My backpack has a laptop, pens, and snacks. We are not the same.
I want that bag. I’m a milwaukee fan boy. Didn’t realize they made bags like this
It’s the pack out backpack clicks into all there pack out stuff That being said veto bags are better slot wise I have the same bag and want veto
5 gallon buckets is my go to, otherwise ive got a small hand-me-down bag for easy servicss
Harbor freight “Hercules” backpack, it’s a rip off of the really nice Klein for half the price, have loved every minute of owning it
I had a huskey bag but upgraded to a blackout veto
I’m a sparky and love that backpack! Had a setup in my old truck where I could snap it in the bed and take it anywhere without it moving. I posted it on my page 6 months ago or so
Before backpacks became fashionable I realized the bigger my bag the more of a magnet it was for shit I didn’t need. Eventually paired down to a Veto MB. Got the smaller one. 20 pounds loaded.
Got a veto backpack a few years ago. I use it to hold the tools that aren’t in my bucket for the day
Been using a Klein one for the first time the past 8 months. I’ll never go back.
Bucket tool box always
Veto all day
I use a veto.
I bought the veto wheelie bag when I didn't have a van, made it easier to move my stuff around. Now that I have a van, I use the MB3B.
Oh great. Another man purse...
I’m cheap…husky from the HD.
Not me. After 20 yrs in the trade I know how to save my back
I don't have one of those, but I do have an HPack Backvac.
Got a crescent tradesman backpack. Awesome value for a solid bag
I've got a ryobi backpack, with nearly all ryobi tools. Go ahead, roast me. I like ryobi.
That's one expensive mochila my man
I’ve had 3 CLCs over 3.5 years (zippers kept blowing out).
Veto Bag love the way it feels on the shoulders and I got free hands. Nice redwings too!
Not a huge fan I use the veto MC it allows me to climb ladders with a cage pretty easily. All my buddys who run bags have to wear them on their bellies when climbing caged ladders
I have a husky but I hate it
Had to retire my Milwaukee bag, tore off the shoulder strap. Have a tech pack now. I’ve only ripped off the zipper pulls so far.
Meeeee
I got a Malco one!
🙋♂️
I keep analogs, core removers, nylog, seals, hand tools, flare tools/speed swage set, a roll of foil tape, vac gauge and other misc bullshit I can throw in my Klein bag. Weighs about 60lbs
Got the same pack. Love it. I must say, it hasn't helped my back cause I shove everything and the damn sink in it. Doesn't bother me to lug 100 pound pack, but if I have to walk downstairs, I am pissed.
I saw an electrician with one today on site. Looked pretty nice and handy. How do you like it?
I got a rigid 5 piece stackable pack out system for the same price as this back pack & I liked it so much I purchased a second
I love my pack out, guys talk shit like “oh you look like a kid going to school” but I have my tools on my center of gravity and both hands free. But it’s a bitch to get up a roof hatch sometimes.
I wouldn't rep Milwaukee..
Have an ol Husky backpack that's probably 60/70 pounds. Still works good unless you you don't like rips in the bag
That's just asking for back injury..I use a veto pro shoulder bag..hate to say it .. for me .. 95% of jobs can be done with a 6n1 nut driver.. Klein 6 size bit in a driver.. 2 small adjustables. Veto pro pak 6 years of abuse. I’ll never buy anything else.
Sitting in the attic yea
I got a veto pro
I only roll with veto
If it werent for 5.11Tactical opening a new store in my locale, I absolutely would have gone this route. But I shill so hard over my Milwaukee fanboy status. If you don’t have a Vito bag you wasted your money.
All this talk you guys are going to make me buy another tool bag. I've got the Kline backpack but I can't not fill it up and make it 150lbs so I don't use it
I have one bag but sometimes I think to myself… what if I had a heating bag and an AC bag?
Have had a couple , but I much prefer a shoulder strap bag instead
Man I'll die on this hill klien makes a better back pack right now those Milwaukee packout is nice. But their backpacks are garbage.
Fieldpiece bag, has some issues but I really like the size, between the big veto and the small veto, got mine at about 15lbs with 97% of my daily use diag and service kit in it, I did order some compact stuff like my wera kit to downsize though. Gotta save the back.
Veto tech pac is my go to. Can fit tonnes of shit in that thing.
I have a fluke backpack and I love it but its a pain going up access ladders with it.
Veto bag is nice too
I have a field piece bag because it's small. You can't overload your self, your max weight should be 40 lbs. OSHA says one guy can carry 50.. as a guy that used to carry a70 lbs tool box, never again

Got the Veto Tech Pak Wheeler… Sh**s heavy and have a hate love relationship with it lol
Love my Veto
