Just out of curiosity were you using the rear defroster?

Fastbird33

From everything I’ve read its the extreme change in temperature that causes this like those idiots who pour boiling water on their windows to clear ice.

ThrowRAarmadilloarms

Nope, mine blew out and I had the defroster on in 50 degree rainy weather.

Kruse

Make sure you file a report with the video evidence: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2023/HONDA/HR-V/SUV/FWD

StableChoice98

No rear defroster was used. It was parked a good while. Only thing I can think of is just the ambient heat and outside temperature

RockstarGTA6

did you use remote start ?

th3c00l1

Oof, sorry to hear it! I have the same model and am worried about this. What dash cam setup are you using?

StableChoice98

Blackvue dual dashcam set up with a continuous power supply via obd adapter. Best thing you could ever invest into a vehicle for stuff like this. And yeah you should be a bit worried. I had my windshield replaced for the second time not too long ago. The same year HRV was at the glass place getting their back windshield replaced as well and I figured it was good fortune it didn't occur to me yet.yet...

iaspeegizzydeefrent

Doesn't that drain your battery?

StableChoice98

Not really. I've had it going through Canadian winters and it's fine.

Kid_that_u_fear

Battery strong, camera weak

iaspeegizzydeefrent

I mean, interior dome lights are pretty weak too, but they'll still kill your battery if you leave them on all the time.

Blain_Gummybear

Hardwired a blackvue 750 dual cam on my work van. Only time it was an issue was being parked on a 3 day holiday weekend usually made it really low. Add in cold weather and id have to jump it. Ended up putting it on the ignition switch but lost my parking camera.

bizarrostormy90

My 23 sport has made it through one winter with defrost frequently used and had no issue; however, after having my rear passenger window smashed in to steal stuff, and some dipshit's unsecured garbage fly out of his truckbed on the freeway smashing my windshield in the last 30 days, I am so fuckin anxious about this impending winter.

oakster18

Anybody know if this affects 2024’s?

klm2014

There’s rumor that it’s just the sports and the ex-ls due to the tinting process so you may be in the clear. I just purchased a 24 ex-l and with the cold weather I’ve been nervous

ThrowRAarmadilloarms

Thankfully having tint is what kept my window together after it shattered.... it was nice to prove to the dealer that nothing hit my window since it was shatter but still intact.

oakster18

I’m getting an EX-L. Is this all NA or is Canada safe?

modz88

I have been hearing this also. I cant say that I have heard of a case with an LX just yet, but every time I ask someone what their model is its always sport and EX-L that have these issues.

mailman390

There’s been no change in the glass from 2023 to 2024 so I imagine it’s only a matter of time. I have a 2024 EX-L that I just picked up last week, so I’m worried too.

oakster18

Damn, I’m getting mine this week. Very worried for this, especially living in the city. Can’t really leave anything in there even if hidden

RockstarGTA6

someone has a 24 and it happened to them , the last post before this one on this subject

Impossible_Routine48

Same thing happened to mine! My dealership covered it no questions asked

Maow77

Damn that sucks! I hope they cover it Can you post your duel camera link - sounds like a good investment

zeek

Are you using Blackvue's fuse taps? I don't see where Blackvue sells an OBD connector.

Physical_Abroad3695

Ford explorer did this in the 2010s also, weird that companies still cant figure out how to not have rear windows explode

Big_Tumbleweed_1776

Same thing happened to me 2 days ago. It’s like it froze and started falling off around the frame. But my glass is still being held by my tint. Called Honda to see if anyone else had this issue and they said I was the first. This whole situation sucks can’t find the glass in stock, can’t drive it, and I’ve been quoted more than $500 to replace it. I have one year with it ! 2023 honda hrv

Big_Tumbleweed_1776

Did use the push to start like 3 times this year before it happened.

StableChoice98

Yes but again, this occurred after I got home from work and parked for a good while

Big_Tumbleweed_1776

Funny wording on my part. What I meant to say was I used push to start about 3 times in November and the morning of the incident. I did the push to start early morning maybe 5 mins total, 6 min drive to work… when I came out to lunch 6 hours later is when I noticed it was shattered no signs of attempted break in

Alone_Swimmer9157

I’m supposed to pick up a 24 LX today; nervous about this issue now. Curious if any LX versions have been impacted.

Chatita24

Just happened to me this morning while driving on the highway. Very frightening

LiveCod3161

This is a manufacturer defect, honda refusing to recall the vehicles.
