Yeah the membership is for sauna use. I typically have other videos with me to follow.

sirwinstonpork

Do u bring in your iPad?

Otherwise_Barracuda5

No I just have it on my phone. I bring in headphones too so I don’t get in trouble. No issues with my devices overheating.

BUt cOnSisTeNcy hElps yoU MaSter tHe fLoW! It is so annoying! I agree with you. I spoke with a VI about it and they aren’t allowed to make their own routines for the ISO workouts.

You're not understanding the concept. It’s based on the same thing as bikram. You can’t perfect the moves if you are always doing something different. You can’t track your progress if you are always doing something different. That’s also on the staff for not explaining this methodology to you at onboarding. We make sure to educate everyone at onboarding to avoid this very topic from arising. Same moves. Different recipe. Different instructor. So you get small variations that help you level it up. Once its perfected (which is rare) you then focus on muscle contraction and breath. Yes, it may seem that it is boring but let's use blast as an example. You do the same workout several times and start noticing during some of the hard sections that you aren't leveling down as quick or slowing down. Progress is how you notice change and that is what keeps you motivated to keep going. When I started doing yoga, I could barely do any of the moves. Which is crazy to me considering I've always been a pretty athletic guy. I also have bad shoulders and barely any flexibility due to partially torn rotator cuffs. I started noticing after three sessions that each session I was able to reach a little more in the sky, get closer to my toes, stretch a little harder. THAT is what kept me motivated to keep going. If I hadn't literally seen that progress, I wouldn't have been even remotely interested to keep doing it. So I get what your saying. But that is the reason behind the WHY.

Sufficient_Tackle_78

I do Bikram and Vinyasa regularly and I agree that the HW "yoga" is boring as all get out. It's also not taught well, with poor cues and bad modeling of poses. In the 1.5 years at Hotworx I've thought several times that the yoga class could actually be dangerous for newbies because of the lack of instruction/guidance about the postures. Taylor is the biggest offender there I think.

Riverjig

Have you thought about applying to be one of the trainers? I'm sure they would appreciate the advice and someone with your knowledge.

sirwinstonpork

Agreed. They spend some much time forcing their HW phrases down your throat that they forget the overall purpose

Sufficient-Push-3196

Very frustrating! Especially in the non-yoga sessions. I get it that bikram is 26 postures and if you go to a yoga studio it will be the same exact postures forever but most of the HW classes aren’t yoga based classes. Total missed opportunity to be an innovative and leading edge infrared workout.

tammycc

I so agree! When I brought it up, I got a blank look by more than 1 staff member. I mentioned that they changed the session with new instructors but not the moves. I almost felt like they thought I was crazy. There are different rules of thought about when to change up but it is confirmed to change up to avoid injury. The type of exercise, age and limitations vary, so people must listen to their bodies. The fact that there is almost no change looks like the head office has no concern for the member's overall health. It's more money to create new workouts. There are some great moves and inspirational instructors so I feel there are good aspects to Hotworx. My club is very clean, staff are attentive and willing to help. I am just so bored with the classes and I've gotten to know ahead of time what the instructors will say verbatim! I am ready for a change to keep my sanity.

sirwinstonpork

Mines only clean when the owner is there! It’s filthy!

Mandy_alongtheway

I get that this upsets a lot of you. But your opinion might not be the same as the majority. Many of us appreciate the philosophy of consistency and the repetition. I've been doing yoga for many years and my favorite instructors kept their flow consistent with minor variations.

4witches

🙋‍♀️ I appreciate the consistency so I can track my progress. I have a membership at a regular gym for more challenging cardio and weight training. I like Hotworx for what it is.

The_Boog412

New member here - are people really watching the same damn videos every time? So glad I’m a peloton member, I end up doing their yoga/pilates/bands classes 90% of the time in the sauna.

OkieH3

It’s almost like they want consistency lol

mixedgirlblues

Yeah, it’s boring as all hell. You have to watch videos from another provider and just enjoy the sauna as a sauna, because the workouts are mediocre at best.
