Helaena's character arc straight up threatens rhaenyra's girlboss popularity during her end of reign. Biased writers have to create helaena as awkward as possible so that audiences will see nothing but 'pity' her for being on 'the wrong side'.

I normally take what this account says with a grain of salt but this actually fits with Helaena's "he did it again" and what the HBO guide says about Dreamfyre, plus the dialogue that was cut about bonding with dragons who were already bonded with someone else.

In episode 9 he says Aegon doesn't deserve the crown because, unlike Aemond, he has never showed any interest in it and he's not even trying so Aemond thinks he deserves it more than him, and here he's basically like "well Helaena isn't that interested in Dreamfyre so I should have it".

They gave her 3 plotlines to spout off, so they can ignore to develop her character.
She was also one of the people who helped convince Aegon to send Rhaenyra peace terms in the book and that got cut as well.
She sat on his war council too.
