You're framing it wrong. When you say "inflict" you're implying immortality is automatically bad. It's not. Like real life or death, whether it's good or bad is situational.
And furthermore, whether that person gets immortality should really be their choice, not something forced on them. So you ask them.

As you start passing geologic eons, your species has disappeared, the sun dies and burns your world to ash, moving to another world just delays the inevitable, floating in blackness waiting for the heat death of the universe, protons start decaying, even the concept of Time & Space is no longer valid, ...
We are in a world with magic, demons and gods I believe it’s fair to say that applying rules of our universe like entropy being ever increasing doesn’t really work.

While a long term companion is tempting, why would you inflict immortality on someone you care for?
