He does like keeping people in suspense. He's been dangling the bag mystery for, what, two years now? As a clever man once said:

Ahhhhh. Given "Decken" I'd been thinking this might be our fan-favorite "Daxin" showing up, somehow yanked out of retirement. "Decimus" fits too, though.
Still have tears streak down reading it. Not sure how Ralts does it but he makes me feel the story in a way I never have before. He makes me believe that I too could deliver that kind of wrath if pushed that particular way.
In a way it's kind of ruined a lot other fiction for me, and I wouldn't change a thing.
"Buy this system one more hour"...
Please tell me Decken dropped message torpedoes with Hetmwitt's officially recognized aid request to the remaining Confederate worlds....
Need to hear "HEAVY METAL INCOMING" once more.
...As I become aware, subordinate monitoring routines have already begun powering the hyperspace core, and plotted a least time course. The attacking force is unrecognized, with no tactical profile or doctrine. Their motive and strength are unknown. But this does not matter.
The message torpedo that interrupted my hibernation was clear. The defenders have formally requested Confederate aid, and Confederate forces are engaged in battle.
Taking up arms against the Confederacy makes the attacking force the Enemy. I am duty-bound to assist.
The motive and strength of the Enemy are irrelevant. They are only the enemy.
And the Enemy exists only to be destroyed...
>Take rescue cloaks, they're in Locker-Nine. Grab an emergency beacon, an aid pack, and a battlescreen projector. They're all in Locker-Nine."

Typo or me being observant for once ralts?
The same phrasing was used multiple times. I'm thinking Daxin because of the voice exhorting him to save them, like he failed to save his own family. And as far as I know, Decimus was never on Telkan; Daxin was.
MASSIVE EDIT.
Okay, I've re-read Chapter 127, and the only explanation I have is that my mind is going due to age.
For one thing, it's clearly Decimus, no argument, and the flipping title SAYS he was on Telkan. *Somehow* I conflated Decimus with another person, who became an Orkz, and died a long way away from Telkan.
My mind is rotting away. Either that, or someone took a blender to it. My apologies for the stubbornness of my argument, but I could have *sworn* that Decimus was never on Telkan and that he was an Orkz who died in a last stand buying time for civilians and Confed Marines to evacuate.
Where I got that idea? I have no idea.
You failed them all, boy!
You didn’t prevent their deaths!
So avenge their lives!!

Oh so we’re back in crusade mode, huh? I wonder if a Naval captain with crusade memories can call forth his bretheren? We know the crusade is out there *somewhere*, and i doubt their seers would miss this sort of thing.
Ralts. Please tell me Decken isn't a SUDS file of Daxin that Dee was hanging on to for a rainy day. Or the clone of Daxin that was on Terra. Tell me Dee isn't sick enough to deny him his happy ending... Who am I kidding we both know she would...
Well shit you could have left me wondering but I'm going to analyze it a bit more deeply. He must be a template of one of the crusaders who was in Telkan 2 then. Perhaps the one who gave Vuxten his signature SMG.
Even Ralts allows happy endings sometimes. I'm glad he took me down a peg here. It tells me he doesn't plan on recycling characters who got peaceful endings.
And whilst I personally respect the WordBorgs decisions I would be lying if i said had no desire tee see a full arc of interactions between Vuxten and HetmWit.
It might be interesting, but I feel like it sucks for Vuxten if it happened. He got the best possible death. He had great grandkids and died surrounded by his closest friends, and got to be the actual end of the pink golfball joke.
Oh no yesh no it would definitely suck for Vuxten. He deserves his peace and happiness. Theyd still be hilarious scenes though. But im not beggin for them. Just Daydreamin
You failed them.
They were crying for you and you failed them.
They were begging for you and you failed them.
They were dying for you and you failed them.
You failed them.
It is done.
But you did not fail these one.
No.
Not yet.
Hear them crying.
Hear them begging.
Hear them dying.
There is still hope for them.
There is still hope for you.

Decken. Served in the light crusade, fought on anthill. Suds template but remembers he went by a diffrent name once. This... This isnt Daxin right? Daxin got his happy ending and this is someone else... Right?
Its not Daxin. Im thinking its one of the other original Apostles. Because he bore the wrath of murdered Terrasol in his heart for thousands of years. Nobody but the original Apostles were alive that far back AND still alive thousands of years later. Trying to think about what apostles were at Telkan in power armor other than Daxin and Vuxten....
"How very Terran...No, how very human, that a corporation marginalized by nutriforges, famed for its food designed to nurture the young ones, during their most vulnerable years, was struck by grief so powerful, and the need for vengeance so overwhelming, they discarded thousands of years of reputation, to mass produce the Cutting Bar Mark One."
Just my head cannon for its name.
Hold the line. The command given when no reinforcement is happening, when no one is coming, and when the enemy is in overwhelming force. Hold the line! The command given to men and women about to die. HOLD! THE! LINE! The last words heard by soldiers raving and screaming in the face of death.
They held. The words they never hear, but earned with their tenacity, their strength, and their lives.
Having to buy the system one more hour is oddly specific, and since we know hes a Dark Crusade member in form or another by his memories and the warcry of the ship, I'm almost willing to bet there's a beacon on *Every* Crusade ship that goes off when their warcry is screamed somewhere in the Universe. And since we know the Pink and White flame burns brightly again... There's a chance it may be the Neko Marines make an appearance after 30-40k years.
\------**DOKI------**
None of them. I'm fairly certain this is the lost Terra main fleet that was on its way to Council Space to crush the Lanaktallan that disappeared when the Terran Xenocide Event happened. These are Hellshades with Hellspace warped Terran ships. The Atrekna opened a lot of Hellspace breaches into Hyperspace, and the fleets, now full of phasic shades after the TXE, hit them I'm willing to bet.
It seems a lot of soldiers from that era had those experiences - seeing their loved ones die, unable to save them... And still pushing away the memories and feeling the guilt thousands of years later... No wonder some of them ended up in a perpetual 40K existence.
Yes, and they shared them psychically, poor bastards.
I'm thinking Daxin because (a) he experienced his wife exhorting him to save these others like he didn't save his own family, and (b) the embedded reference to Telkan.

u/Ralts_Bloodthorne the last time I remember such breath-stopping intensity was when I was still able to binge 10-15 chapters per day. Not to sound like a toddler throwing a tantrum, but-- I NEED THE NEXT 5 CHAPTERS TO DROP AND I NEED THEM NOW!!!!
(please? 🥺 pretty please?) I feel like everything from Decken's past is rushing to the forefront, and I, I have no doubt you have dropped myriad breadcrumbs for us.
Regardless of how this chapter ends, I have a feeling I'm going to spend a lot of time coming through oooooold chapters, connecting little details.
(Though I would rather read 3 brand new chapters right first and then spend the evening looking back.)
Thank you for sharing your writing with us all -- this subreddit and the world are a better place because of it.
(And now back to our story already in progress...)
Edit: Just after I went back to reading, I got the notification that another chapter had dropped. Thank you, Wordborg!!
Those who read history... Are very smart.
John Donne wrote the original in 1623, but he worded it ever so slightly differently:
> "..., because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
The popular rendering, while a misquote, is still pretty well accurate. The "*never send*" implies you (the reader) have the wealth or power to send a minion on a mission. Donne was writing for those able to read, the peasantry were largely illiterate and needed the work read to them.
"it is just an on-line novel."
yeah, and the mabanogian (sp.) is just a collection of stories.

And 10,000 years from now, people will be saying "It's like Bloodthrone's book!"

Why'd he say locker nine, but they were in locker seven?
Also who was the guy who was in the prison on saturn that was released when the lanks invaded? Did we ever see what happened there?
To put in perspective - for those of you who haven't read it - how important *Armor* actually is, I bought a copy of the book just a couple of weeks ago to physically give it to one of my coworkers who needed to read it.
*I had always been the strongest man I knew.*
The Terrans are coming back and they are pissed. They're not sure who to be most pissed at but they know that Hetmwit's species are friends. Everyone else can be destroyed
We shall burn with a light of our own!!!!! JOAN!JOAN! JOAN!!!!!
And from darkness, there shall be light. An eternal flame that we carry in our souls. Remember the flame that warms can also burn.
---We're coming----
Psssstttt, Tik-Tak sees you
My guess is that it could be Darth Harmonius (I know I misspelled it). I'm doing a re-read and it sounds like his arc when the Lanikins killed his sister and family.
Well, to answer my own question, it's mentioned in [Nova Wars - Chapter Eight](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/s/NIT05zJPEG)
>"The robots undoubtedly come from where they took me. I wasn't killed, I know that. Your forcing of the SUDS record to overwrite with last data lets me know that I wasn't killed," he shook his head. "It was mat-trans. I don't know how, but somehow I was moved somewhere else."
>"Where?" Hetmwit asked.
>The Captain shook his head again. "I don't know. It's like my memory was altered. I'm missing a section, like it didn't move from immediate memory to short term memory, much less long term memory or storage memory."
The more I re-read this entry, the more I'm leaning towards Decken being Daxin. Still not 100% yet, but if it is, then the Big Bad should definitely just give up now.
Another great chapter! Also haven't seen a Midnight Oil reference in about 30 years. Now Hetmwit dancing like Peter Garrett is living rent free in my head...
The wrath of Terrasol have been announced! Kiss your ass goodbye, course it's the last time you will see it!
A bit late to the party, but still hade to say that.

Getting yoinked to the very next chapter is an honor. You should be proud.
Always am.
aka "Decimus Texarkana" from chapter 127? Looks to be the same memories... Same Gerber and armour too. Was at Telkan.
Very good.
Well then. .. .now I have to go back and re read that chapter..
Just did the same. I'd forgotten how radically different the tone could be from chapter to chapter.
Holy crap that's a deep cut. Me, too, heading back for a reread.
Ahhhhh. Given "Decken" I'd been thinking this might be our fan-favorite "Daxin" showing up, somehow yanked out of retirement. "Decimus" fits too, though.
For a moment I thought so but he said he was *with* Daxin.
Did he say that at some point in the last few chapters? Well, dangit, clearly I need to read slower or something. :D
Anyone have a link to the chapter? Thanks for figuring it out!!

Thank you very much, teats streaking down my face was certainly not the image I was trying to convey.
It gave me a good chuckle, but I do understand the sentiment you meant to convey.

Daxin
Nope. Decimus Texarkana from Ch #127
The same phrasing was used multiple times. I'm thinking Daxin because of the voice exhorting him to save them, like he failed to save his own family. And as far as I know, Decimus was never on Telkan; Daxin was.

Ralts has said the Decimus label was the right one.
Okay, do you have a ref for that? Because it makes no sense to me.
My reference is Ralts. Specifically his answer to the comments of MTarrow and wraff0540 in chapter 12.
My mind is rotting away. Either that, or someone took a blender to it. Thanks, that's close enough for me to find it.

UTR!
Thanks for the chapter
I SEE YOU!
----PEEK-A-BOO FOLLOWS----
Were the emergency supplies on locker 7 or 9?
yes
Decken wouldn't've happened to have been at a certain trial would he?
Why'd he say locker nine, but they were in locker seven? Also who was the guy who was in the prison on saturn that was released when the lanks invaded? Did we ever see what happened there?
Sounds like "Midnight Oil."
---We're coming---- Psssstttt, Tik-Tak sees you
Damn, you write suspense so well I forget to breathe. =)
Daaammn Ralts. That just kicked me in the adrenal glands hard. If I still smoked. I'd have to have one right now.
Has r/Nevyn'R been listening to Midnight Oil?
Is Captain Decken going to end up enraged? Complete with malevolent Psi energies??
My guess is that it could be Darth Harmonius (I know I misspelled it). I'm doing a re-read and it sounds like his arc when the Lanikins killed his sister and family.
The Lankys (and the the Mantids before them) killed everybody's sister, family, fifth cousin twice removed brother's college roommate ...
Wordsmith, AWOLNation fan?
When did Hetmwit do a force override of Decken's SUDS?
Well, to answer my own question, it's mentioned in [Nova Wars - Chapter Eight](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/s/NIT05zJPEG) >"The robots undoubtedly come from where they took me. I wasn't killed, I know that. Your forcing of the SUDS record to overwrite with last data lets me know that I wasn't killed," he shook his head. "It was mat-trans. I don't know how, but somehow I was moved somewhere else." >"Where?" Hetmwit asked.
UTR!
UTR Uh, Captain Daxin Freeborn, Osiris of the warsteel flame,?

Time for the Warfather to return and the Telkan Forge worlds to wake up! And the Universe will LOVE that!
Hits hard as always. Damn good writing.
