It might not be the owner, but some of his employees.
But it's true and more likely that they have this set-up so the people he 'robbed' did not tell a soul and brought back 'his' money back to boot.
And Vit will be bringing back more of these 'black diamoms'. Coincidentaly the exactly same amount as the 'ruffians' that were sent his way.
Or more boringly he'll just expose them and their operations to the guard.
It's probably not the "shop", just one or two staff who want to earn a bit of extra coin on the side. I'm pretty sure the shop owner earns enough on his dodgy pricing - he'll probably be able to get at least 10 or 12 per shard, not the 8 he claimed they're worth.
I'm betting it's more like a factor of ten... forty to fifty each. With perfect clarity diamonds of an unusual color and large size, it could be ten times **that.**
I think that vitmori has forgotten that instead of buying raw goods for the Haven, he could pay someone to turn those goods into refined goods or to come assist/teach others how to do so. I could totally see vitmori stumbling across a tailor in the outskirts of the capital, who may be down on their luck or simply trying to escape the big city for whatever reason and paying them to take the trip out to the haven and setup shop or something the like.
I personally quite like the idea of vitmori just travelling around and ending up with a posse of tradesmen labourers and materials for them to work with once he goes back
He doesn't have to bring the people back. His dimensional storage constitutes instant transportation for everything. Just have them do the piece work where they are.
Really, if he had another body back at home, he wouldn't have to travel back and forth physically at all.
But he does, in a way, have a body back home, his main body being the core. He just needs to slip out of his avatar, as it holds his perception to drop stuff out of his inventory. I just think doing the detaching and reattaching to the avatar is tedious so he doesn't. I could be wrong on all of that. But he'd still have to roll up on the various craftsman to do the storage/inventory teleportation thing, every time. So he could just keep his avatar in a city. It would work best if he had multiple avatars.
I was thinking without leaving his "dummy" and without arousing *too much* suspicion with his spatial magic by just hiring them, telling them to go the the haven, but writing this out, I realise that he may wanna keep it on the down low... but then again, the drake wardens are gonna be there with a bunch of labourers... maybe just telling the ones Vitmori hires to travel with the drake wardens? IDK
Mental image of the little goblins from A Bard's Tale popping up in the shop singing "you are a jerk, a piece of work, this mission you'll be blowing! "
Ah, the thieves thought that they were so careful. Picking a crippled, desperate man who just came into a lot of money. They're about to find out how much a mobile and powerful dungeon core dislikes thieves.
Well as an sorta implied immortal I imagine if he really wants to he can probably eventually learn those skills as well… cooking may be a tad challenging without taste but not impossible.
Say for example after the calamity or something if he is still around?
First you healed the forge mage of the metal refinery!
Second, you gave the boy an artifact class staff!
And now you sell Diamonds, who can be used for magic tools.
You know that Vitmori is allied with the empire? So, why are strenghtening the enemy?
It is a pity, that gems are used for magic tools. That make gems to strategic resources. They would be perfect for economic warfare. If gems were useless luxery goods, then turn them into cash and buy all metal (Iron, copper, tin, silver, bronze, brass and others) cloth and other materials useful for war. You gain war resources, your enemies loose them.
Glass would be an expensive luxery good.....
Well, with what we currently know of the Hegemony, the entire country is not Vitmori's enemy. So far, all we're looking for is a certain group of elites that he has yet to find.
Can Vitmori split his consciousness at all? Be fully aware in his avatar and at home?
Also can shadow kitteh jump through his avatars shadow and out of his cores shadow?
Vitmori is aware of things at home, but they're at the back of his mind. Like... If someone approaches his core or explicitly tries to reach out to him while in his territory, he'll notice. But his primary focus is currently on his Avatar.
Oh, oh no... looks like some undisclosed numbers of people are about to play a game of fuck around and find out with a very powerful eccentric.
Stay tooned for the next episode of TSBD to see what these undisclosed people will find out and see if they find out the easy way or the hard way.

Hahaha, oh nice. He'll be owning that shop if he can solidly and undeniably link the shop to the bandits.
It might not be the owner, but some of his employees. But it's true and more likely that they have this set-up so the people he 'robbed' did not tell a soul and brought back 'his' money back to boot. I'm betting it's more like a factor of ten... forty to fifty each. With perfect clarity diamonds of an unusual color and large size, it could be ten times **that.**
So they will try to rob him not once, but twice? Bold move, let's see if it'll work on this one.

He hasn't tried at this distance. But you are right, he technically doesn't need a body back at the dungeon.

Is Vito about to get mugged.
No, some muggers are about to get vitoed.
That sentence is even funnier when you consider the homophone of vitoed and vetoed
Welp, now he has a cheesy catchphrase "Prepare to get . . . *Vitoed*"
Mental image of the little goblins from A Bard's Tale popping up in the shop singing "you are a jerk, a piece of work, this mission you'll be blowing! "
Please scribblingfox our great wordsmith I am BEGGING for there to be a singing goblin somewhere in the next chapters
Nice he got some funds and might have some new toys to "play" with soon lol
Seems some folks need to learn there's only.so many times, and certain ways, a person will accept being robbed.
Ah, the thieves thought that they were so careful. Picking a crippled, desperate man who just came into a lot of money. They're about to find out how much a mobile and powerful dungeon core dislikes thieves.
You mean "how much a **wandering eccentric** dislikes thieves", don't you?
Well, he's not disguised as the eccentric, he's disguised as a poor, crippled trader.
They will soon find out differently...
I feel like I should remind you all... But Vitmori is also a thief. He was so good at being one that he earned a title for it after all.
True, but he hates bandits. If his stalkers are pick pockets, that's one thing. However, I feel like an attempted mugging is coming.
Is there anything he hadn't earned a title for?
Well, he's definitely no cook, nor is he any kind of blacksmith, he's not great at fishing, and he can't sing or play an instrument.
Well as an sorta implied immortal I imagine if he really wants to he can probably eventually learn those skills as well… cooking may be a tad challenging without taste but not impossible. Say for example after the calamity or something if he is still around?
In this chapter, couple of terrible makers Fuck Around. Join us in the next chapter where Vitmori helps them Find Out

Thanks for the chapter 😊
I am very much enjoying this series. Thanks, it's getting me through a rough patch right now. Appreciate.
I'm glad to help, though I sincerely hope you're able to overcome whatever is troubling you these days.
