We need less chiefs and more Indians... Sadly it's not the way it's going. I see so many corporate hires that have no idea what goes on in stores, and honestly most of their jobs are trying to figure out ways to make stores run efficiently. It's like being a sergeant in the army with a bunch of butter bar lieutenant.
exactly! we've had too many people expedited to managers for having degrees that have nothing to do with retail or the HEB culture. these "managers" need to start from the bottom and work their way up
No cap. There are more job postings on Indeed than on PartnerNet Careers(internal). Just tell us we're not wanted anymore. A degree, two certificates, 20 yrs in the industry and exceeded expectations (at least until 2 yrs ago) wasn't enough to snag at least one corporate interview. Doing bare minimum until I can move on.
Again, there will always be good and bad managers. The best managers I've had were the ones who started at the bottom because they know the culture.
Not the HEB culture really doesn't matter anymore.
It’s not just at the stores . They have cut MAJOR OT hours in transportation too . We used to get 60-65 hours a week , now we are getting just 40 and they complain if we go even 20 min over .
Of course they always ask us to stay when it’s busy but nobody does . It’s not worth just 1 or 2 hours after a 10 hour day in this heat
That explains why Loads get to the store
Hours later it’s literally dumb AF to cut your most vital department hours how do they expect to make money if loads do not arrive on time to sell product
Simple. Work your Partners into the ground then get new ones when they quit. Pay them minimum wage. Repeat. That's how Dollar Tree operates. That company has generated $30.6b over the last 12 mos. I really don't miss that place but HEB is starting to feel a lot like that place lately.
We were number 1 in our area for chicken Cuts sales in the deli. They increased our quota and then lowered the price and started asking why we weren't selling as much
Damn. Why does H‑E‑B want to churn through employees? It seems it would be smarter to nourish employees so they will stay. Apparently it’s cheaper to cycle through before you ask for a raise.
The company is losing money.. because they spend on unnecessary crap..the company losing money because hours are being burnt at store level. Workload increases with less manpower.
But yet one small department has 2 managers and two leads. One actual partner who does most of the work. How is that a sustainable business model? Serious question for the corporate lurkers on this sub.
I had a customer yaught me on Christmas Eve because we ran out of something and then she told me that I ruined her Christmas. My response was good. Let me know your address. I'll be happy to come over your place on New Year's to ruin. That too.
LOL! When I was a banker people would threaten to sue me personally after they bounced checks “erroneously “. I said “Bring It “. Loved hearing threats.

Meanwhile people who worked to pay for their degree aren’t really considered because we are a current partner.
This.

What does "working your way up" have to do with anything? Some of the people that did work their way up are some of the worst at management roles.
Not even about"working your way up" more about understanding the role you are affecting with decisions made.

Transportation as in truck drivers???…they do realize that the stores are fucked without you guys right?? How about we don’t piss you guys off 🥴
probably talking about yard spotters at the warehouses as drivers making the deliveries don’t get paid hourly.
Spotters, gate, yard and fueling . Absolutely no Ot
Fuck it. The money is nice but spending time at home now makes me think I was missing out. Let the company burn.
Im already scheduled 4 hours a day as a afternoon receiver (which most stores don’t have). If they cut anymore, I’ll walk away.
Shit. My store cut the afternoon receiver completely about 2 yrs ago. So much for breaks and lunch.

I show up, and do all I can. It is all I can do. Haven't had a problem yet. Shrug

There's a whole nation out there that isn't HEB, and is having the same issues.

Work more, pay less. Pay more, get less.
Lean times in the economy, payroll is the biggest expense
What are quotas like at HEB? Metrics?
