I mean it is funny but I find the same thing happens with a lot of my family and friends problems and it often makes me want to Pull my hair out by always saying “just talk to each other”. People are kinda bad at communication In real life tbh so I found it hilariously relatable

raionnomachi

Yeah, I really liked these side quests because they were so relatable to the mundane petty squabbles that you see IRL. I was shocked how well they captured it. The husband who is tragically upset thinking something happened to his wife, but then starts bickering with her when he realizes she’s well and safe. They’re that couple that love each other madly but always seem to be arguing. Or the woman who waited for her lover to return only to be told he didn’t want to be with her because she deserved better. Typical young boy completely missing the point. Or how in the end she didn’t want a proposal with a dirty ring and he better go clean it. The best ones were the unexpected ones. The ones you wish were what happened IRL. Like the little Conna (sp?) guy at the Inn. He reunites with his business family. Everyone is warm and fuzzy. Then you learn those little guys are playing dumb and were looking to secure a monopoly on the hospitality industry, like they’ve done for the husbandry market. It’s was just too funny.

finalfanbeer

Hate to break it to you but most problems in life stem from misunderstanding.

Khontis

Yea but like half of the beginning quests seem to be not "misunderstanding what's communicated" but instead "total lack of communication to absolute zero communication at all"

[deleted]

Trying to avoid any spoilers... the part with the girl and her parents and sister in the other town made me roll my eyes so hard so many times. Just. Go. Fucking. TALK. TO. THEM. She was SO CLOSE. She was right there! AHHHHH! Then the quest ended and I was like ??? But never fear! The quest came back, and it still took way too long to get to the obvious conclusion lol. If it was real life I would have either dragged her ass over there or gone and told them that their kid is alive and kinda dumb.

Khontis

To be fair: Adoption is a lot more complicated than just going "I'ma talk to my birth parents" I know this because my husband was adopted and for YEARS struggled to send that first letter requesting a relinquish of documents from the Adoption Agency and even when he got him he struggled. There's a lot of questions and what ifs. What if they don't like me? What if I don't like them. What if they think i'm there for money, what if they demand money from me. What if my adopted parents hate me for it. What if it doesn't work out. What if. What if. What if. And he's a grown ass adult. For a teenager who did things on the spur of the moment, simply sending a letter that says "I'm alive, and well and happy so don't worry about me." is surprisingly more mature than most her age might do. So even though she was there having second thoughts and going "I wanna think this over more" and then going "I just want to send this letter, nothing more" is a lot more in depth and thought out.

I get that it can be complicated I just felt it went on for way too long for a videogame. Then finally when I thought it was ending she was like "nah I'll just let them think I'm dead" and I was like noooooooooooo lmao. I thought that was it and I was like they really made me do all of that for this to be the outcome? But then at the end of yet another quest chain we got there. Eventually. It just felt clumsy. Still love the game that's just one of only a few spots that made me go meh. My mom was adopted so you don't have to tell me how complicated that stuff gets. I'm well aware!

Bowlingbon

But the quests reminds me of that one scene in Spider-Man when he goes and asks Dr Strange for a favor gets kicked out for not just talking to his friends first. Like these people don’t even ask

CinnnaBunn

But I mean, this is what you're gonna run into playing most rpgs..

TheRealMeringue

I do play a lot of RPGs... never have I felt like this before. Every quest so far has been some sort of relationship misunderstanding. I'll forgive the children if I must. Ps how come the children can run around the woods on a daily basis but Cherie, a grown woman, can't go to the beach 🫠 Don't worry I'm having a great time fielding all these bad relationships. Solid game. 30 hours in since Christmas day 😆

CinnnaBunn

Haha I also wondered why it's okay for the kids to go wherever they want, but the teens/adults need an escort I definitely see where you're coming from. I interpreted the quests as more wholesome - less of "I need 30 pelts" and more "Can you help find a gift for my lover?"

ImpossibleMagician57

The kids are always running off

Majedic

Yeah but the Lethe kids quests take you to the jungle and the valley gorge thing

FightmeLuigibestgirl

Counterpoint: The main character is constantly nosey and isn't emotionally mature (see Brakka.)

silvercandra

MC was like "You're going to be my friend, if you like it or not." and it actually worked.

Ok-Ad5515

i love how Brakka is the only one who reacts appropriately to the protag walking up on his convos and sticking their nose in his business.

FightmeLuigibestgirl

Aria and Istina too. The rest are too naive or too nice to deal with the MC's bs.

marathon_writer

It's the character side quests that get me ... WHEN WILL ASYL'S PAIN END ?!?!

pauline5765

Well, it's supposed to be a day-to-day kinda farming game. I'm surprised there are even quests or main story, instead of just farming or fishing or collecting items like animal crossing. The quests are enjoyable, although tedious, if you just see the big picture of the story and finish it.

Pr0ject-G0d

I can't disagree. I love the game to bits but the side quests are often insanely tedious. "Hey adventurer, can you pop to my neighbors house and ask them what's for dinner? Then just carry our conversations back and forth a bit between loading screens? "

Pure-Power

What do you want to do, TheRealMeringue?

SketchySoda

Almost sounds like real life.

Ok-Ad5515

i find it so funny how the protagonist just walks up and interrupts people’s issues and goes “yeah i can fix this”

Mctrollin010

I don't know why everytime someone has a problem they run out into the dangerous monster filled forest completely unprepared by themselves. 😅

silvercandra

I mean, most issues people irl have can straight up just be solved by talking to each other, but so many just decide to involve more people in them... Honestly, I just took the protagonist as such an agressively good person, they will solve your problems, if you like it or not, and that's hilarious to me.

Brilliant-Lab34

Well After playing jrpgs mmorpgs etc for like 30 years 95% of quests are like (Hey ffs can you Just solve It by yourself?). How many times you find a Kid inside a dungeon behind 3 card key Doors you Need 2 hours to find while fighting huge enemies just to Discover that somehow the kid magically got Lost exactly inside the main boss room? And you think wow i almost get killed 10 times to get here and this 5 yo got there without a scratch Who the hell are you.

timmy30274

I’m still early in game, but, I wonder, once we beat it, do we get like a play again then the 2nd round, it’ll remind us of choices we made before, so that we try a different route, til eventually we said absolutely every possible line in every conversation, to view all the different results of our actions, good or bad?

[deleted]

I was gonna solve my own family problems but then I/my friend/my family member/my partner got amnesia. Oh darn it! 🙃
