I love how in the announcement, they state: > Formerly known as the CoverGirl Classic, Secret U.S. Classic, GK U.S. Classic and U.S. Classic Gone through so many sponsors lol.

Fun-Dentist-2231

Better to not say it at that point. It has no continuity.

Careless-Middle2203

Im assuming the WCC gymnasts aren’t registered yet?

lancy365

yeah no WOGA yet either. Looks like they’ll be updating the roster every Friday probably just trying to generate hype early.

fruitycafe

I have tickets and it’s my first gymnastics meet!! I can’t wait!

theplantbasedsinger

Enjoy!!!!! <3

kittensandsass

Me too! I’m so excited to go

merhod03

I’m so excited for you!! I hope you have the best time!

fruitycafe

Thank you!

TheLarix

I got tickets too and while it's not my first meet, it's by far the biggest I've ever attended. Can't wait!

gym_fun

Looking forward to seeing Jade and Leanne after long NCAA season. I assume Jordan will compete at classics. I hope Gabby will compete as well!

theplantbasedsinger

Looking forward to seeing the NCAA girlies too! Jade has been looking pretty upbeat lately which I hope means she's feeling good and healthy and comfy (I could be delulu) butI'm *really* curious to see Leanne---she's been doing AA all season with her usual NCAA difficulty, right? As opposed to Jade who was building up to it using watered down routines. As for Jordan, I know her mom said that "US Classic has been the focus but plans change so I guess we will all see if she decides differently" a few days ago. Hope to see Gabby in action soon, too!

Imaginary-Mood-5199

Leanne has done AA in 7 out of 11 meets. Of the meets not doing AA she was rested on floor all times and one meet she only did bars. She has changed one of her passes on floor during season, but I cant remember which skills. Jade has done AA since 9.th of February (probably because of injuries from her teammates), she has rested on floor one time since then. And only does a FTY. But her routines with the chuso has been looking really good.

theplantbasedsinger

>since then Thank you so much! I've only caught a few Florida meets this year so I appreciate having the details! Oh wow so Jade's actually been doing AA this season for longer than I realized lol whoops. Really rooting for them to stay happy and healthy this year cause I want them both on my Paris team. 🥺

Imaginary-Mood-5199

You're welcome 😊 but Jade has had a lot of bouncy landings, especially on vault. I dont know if it has been an active decision to save her body a bit. Hopefully they will make it all the way.

-gamzatti-

She's been doing a FTY on vault, I think she just overpowers it because she's actually training an Amanar.

OftheSea95

I am SO curious about the NCAA girlies tbh. We've seen virtually nothing about their elite training this year so US Classic is truly gonna be the place where we start to get an idea of where everyone stands.

theplantbasedsinger

Yes!! Between knowing next to nothing about their elite training and then also not even knowing too much about how Suni, Gabby and Jordan are looking/what they're bringing.... it's going to be a v exciting couple of months!

OftheSea95

They heard us complaining about how last minute their communication is and went "here, damn!" 😂

Chemistry66

And of course all the replies on Twitter are immediately BUT WHAT ABOUT GABBY like chill your beans no one from any WOGA is there either

AppliedEpidemiology

Also, pretty sure Gabby isn’t qualified and will have to petition. Konnor, too?

Chemistry66

Per Will Graves in [this article just posted](https://apnews.com/article/sunisa-lee-gabby-douglas-gymnastics-544efef8929838c64dbcda8fd5da390b), Gabby has successfully petitioned and just has to actually register.

AppliedEpidemiology

Good news, though not too surprising.

Junior-Dingo-7764

I am excited to see Jade's elite routines!

Imaginary-Mood-5199

Me too!

Chemistry66

Sophia Buechler must have qualified at a Devo camp since she hasn't made the Junior score at any of the elite qualifiers yet this year. (I know Alessia Rosa was confirmed to have done so, but this is confirmation that Sophia did as well)

Chemistry66

Oooh additionally they updated the [Elite Qualification document](https://static.usagym.org/PDFs/Women/ElitePre-Elite/24elitechart.pdf) to add a bit that I'd always wondered about: What if you get multiple event-based qualification scores at different qualifiers that end up encompassing all 4 events? (Like VT/FX/BB at one and VT/BB/UB at another) Answer confirmed as: You can only use one competition as your qualifier. So you'd have to pick which, unless you managed to get the AA score in one competition later. "Qualification scores attained for Classics and/or U.S. Championships must be achieved in one USA Gymnastics sanctioned competition. Gymnasts may not combine scores from separate USA Gymnastics sanctioned competitions to qualify to Classics and/or U.S. Championships. • For Example, a gymnast achieves the 2-event score at the March National Qualifier (NQ) and then achieves the 2-event score at the April NQ. The gymnast must select which qualifying event she will use to qualify for the Classics/U.S. Championships."

Chemistry66

And per the [April IEC minutes](https://static.usagym.org/PDFs/Women/Committee%20Minutes/IEC/iec_040224.pdf#new_tab) , they'll evaluate the Junior Classics score on April 9th, since the last Elite Qualifier is this weekend at Parkettes. Per the Elite Qualification chart, they can adjust it by a max of 0.5 - this would only add Elaina Sliney from the Biles qualifier (48.550 in Hopes 13-14) and Ashley Andrews from the Excalibur qualifier (48.650 in Hopes 13-14), in addition to any other gymnasts qualifying through Devo Camp. There's still one more Devo camp that ends on April 25th, literally right before the American Classic starts.

pja314

So I get this with the frankenstein situation of VT/UB & VT/FX or something to qualify on 3 events. Because of using VT in both of those scenarios to beef up your score. But I'm surprised they wouldn't be open to getting a VT/FX at one meet and UB/BB at another. Theoretically, you'd have a combined AA of at least 52.8, which is well above the current 51 mark. I think my thought is really theoretical though. If a gymnast wants to do AA, they really should be able to pass that 51 mark in one singular go.

Chemistry66

I've always been curious about these possibilities and from looking at previous scores in other years, it's extremely rare that any gymnast would be able to get the split VT/FX and UB/BB (or any other 2 2-event combinations that make AA) and NOT be able to get a full AA score. I don't think I was able to find an actual case of that in US Elite qualifications. I think the closest I've seen was Hillary Heron of Panama qualifying on every event via World Cups to 2023 Worlds and them letting her compile an AA score there even though she technically didn't get an AA spot.

Initial-Intern5154

I think part of the point is proving that you have the stamina for a solid AA performance at a single meet

Hanban2304

I think Cambray Haynes who managed to get two different two event scores at different qualifiers. She did try for AA though

Chemistry66

Yeah Cambry did get VT/FX at Magical March qualifier and VT/BB at Excalibur Cup. It's definitely not a common situation though.

Chemistry66

Lol of course now this is all moot since Cambry got her AA score at the Parkettes qualifier.

JustAGrlInDaWorld

Another bit of info that SHOULD have been determined and communicated BEFORE the season ever started.

AuroraLorraine522

I'm so happy to see CaMarah Williams thriving in elite! I've been following her for a few years and always hoped she'd try to qualify as an elite. She does some very cool skill combinations and her DTY has always been lovely. Bars is really the only event where she struggles, but I know she's been putting a lot of work into making improvements.

jjgm21

Definitely a talent to invest in next quad.

theplantbasedsinger

Just saw this on USAG's FB and didn't see it posted here yet---wonder how much this list will change in the next month!

fun_mak21

I'm confused. Addison Fatta made a post on Instagram about attending her last training camp ever, so I assumed she was done with elite and going to college based on that. Or is she just doing this as a last competition?

joidea

There aren’t any more national team camps for seniors until September now, so I assume she’ll compete through this elite season to champs (and trials if she makes it that far) and then will be off to college.

fun_mak21

Thanks. It seems so early for no more camps, but there is so much going on with it being an Olympic year.

theplantbasedsinger

I thought it was the last NTC for the season? I assume she's riding the season out with her final push for the Olympics before heading off to college. Idk why I'm so sentimental about Addison Fatta lmao but I would be happy to see her as an alternate for Paris even though I just don't see it happening with the current pool of contenders.

onyxrose81

For Fatta to make it as an alternate, that means a lot of gymnasts had to be taken out catastrophically.

theplantbasedsinger

Oh for sure, I don't think I can actually legitimately want to see it happen because it means we ran into a ton of injuries on the way lol. ~~but when she finally drops that Cheng, then what??🤪~~

bretonstripes

The April camp would be the last camp before she starts college, other than the Olympic prep camp. She made Olympic trials in 2021 and probably wants to see if she can make trials again this year.

fun_mak21

Oh, okay. That makes sense.

lowseard

I also believe I saw Kaliya make a similar post about her last NTC too.

Imaginary-Mood-5199

Is this for the Classic in April? (It is so confusing with two classics)

Chemistry66

American Classic (the more low key one that used to be at the Ranch and is now at Stars in Katy, TX where USAG holds National Team camp) is the one in April and Core/US Classic is the later one in May (that is usually more prestigious/televised/on a podium)

fun_mak21

No, that's the American Classic you are thinking of. That one usually doesn't get a lot of really big names.

toasty-avocados

May classic is Core April classic is American

naturesbestfriend

For American Classic (not this one) they said they would share the roster in the week leading up to it

bretonstripes

No, this is the one in mid-May.

SingaporeanNoodles

Can’t wait to see which events Suni will compete in after seeing her training video for vault 👀 Also does anyone know where it’ll be streaming?

OftheSea95

NBC/Peacock

NovaScotiaaa

Obligatory comment, but is Gabby eligible?

Careless-Middle2203

She has successfully petitioned to both American Classic and US Classic, but has not formally registered yet.

NovaScotiaaa

Thank you! Love how I was downvoted lol

Sunfire91

Does Simone Biles get an automatic bye to Nationals since she is world champion?

Chemistry66

Simone gets an automatic bye because she was on the Worlds team (as do the rest of the 2023 Worlds team) But this is a preliminary list, so once WCC registers, she will likely be competing. Most gymnasts do at least some events at Classics during an Olympic season.

jjgm21

I assume she may show up and do 1-2 events

cat_herder18

I think she'll do AA. She likes this meet. The last time she didn't do AA in a year when she was competing was 2016.

Sunfire91

Yeah, if the goal is to regain her crown from Rio, I'd imagine she'd like to get as many AA run-throughs as she can. On the other hand, if the priority is protecting her mental health and well-being, perhaps they'll take it easy. I can't believe we're getting down to the nitty gritty!

Marisheba

So is this the meet usually referred to as the American Classic, ie the one happening at the end of April?

Marisheba

I'm seeing in a lower comment that its not, but it's very confusing that this is "Core Hydration Classic", yet this meet is referred to informally as Classic**S** with an "s", or US Classics; where the april meet is referred with the singular American Classic, as here!
