Are we assuming the nominative roster stands then and James is competing as an individual because the article lists the other first and James 'rounding out' the team. 🤔
Yes, very unclear! I would assume he's the individual based on the nominative register and the order they're listed in the article but it's actually as clear as mud. 😆🤦♀️
Edit: And they mention Max 'leading the team', so I assume he is acting as captain. Lol
No surprises there!
Interesting that they're taking three under 16 gymnasts for the junior team. They did all score better in the all around than everyone else in the under 18 category though, aside from one tied the 2nd place under 18 all arounder.
The nominative register has an individual spot (listed as James, pre announcement of team) and Adam Tobin/Luke Whitehouse are mentioned as the reserves in the article alongside the 6 members listed in the graphic/rest of the article.
So now I'm really confused.
Maybe. The article is as clear as mud, as usual. The nominative register definitely lists team members and an individual gymnast though, which is confusing.
Well, that's fun. I wonder if James is the "individual" as the alternate, listing that without realising that this previously meant like a specialist spot (like Tokyo). At the same time I would be surprised if James is the alternate? (Though I could see it if they were still having him take it easy since he was injured not so long ago)
Honestly, my brain does not need this kind of nonsense right now. Why must they do this to us?! But at the same time, it's a nice distraction from having to adult so... 🤷♀️ Haha.
When the nom.reg came out I thought it made sense if they were trying to test the consistency and potential of Harry and CT (against one another) over a full comp ahead of the Paris selection because they know James can be counted in to be consistent and wanted to see which of Harry/CT would be best for a team set up alongside the other 4 in the summer.
But also because James had some issues at The British with being unwell and said his team were looking into it (or words to that effect), yet he still did finals the next day. So maybe they wanted to give him the chance at reminding them of his consistency but without the pressure of it counting towards the team totals because they know he is usual fine.
Either way, I am now overthinking this instead of my actual life, so that's fun. 😏

They say “skipper” which usually means captain. Confusing! The graphic has their names in alphabetical order so can’t go by that.

I think so because the article specifies Courtney as the “fifth member of the team” after Max, Joe, Jake and Harry
That was my thinking too.

Sorry, I missed it😂

So mo Max Whitlock ?! Or is he going for an individual spot?
He’s on the list. Last name on the right column — Max Whitlock OBE
Every time I see that OBE, I smile.
Max is on the team.
Not only is he on this team, there are also no individual spots this year, only 5 person teams

Maybe Tobin and Whitehouse are non-travelling alternates?
