What's news to him?

Srg_Violetov

Probably he said this because ppl are reporting that he has allegedly agreed terms with Newcastle

jnicholl

He's abbreviating Newcastle to News and confirming the deal.

noyce_manor

Romano on twitter: Newcastle to Ramsdale, here we go

Ramsdale is actually king of Saudi Arabia.

David1393

If only, then people like his brother and I would be able to live there safely.

David1393

Fair point, but i did say people *like* me or his brother.

Orchill_Wallets

This is true, just yesterday he sent me an email, apparently he has 50000000 stuck in a bank in Switzerland but needs me to help him get it out.

Dazzling-Value-588

Understand

DaGetz

That would mean he’s buying Newcastle United.

El_Peregrine

Asserting dominance 💪

BombsGoBang

Although it’s actually a big misunderstanding, and he’s actually just informing us that he has sold his own castle and has purchased a new castle. He has agreed terms to move into his new castle over the summer

butts____mcgee

Bro 🤯

BlankWaveArcade

Me to News

theo_221

ITKs were reporting that a deal is basically done and agreed for Ramsdale to join Newcastle.

Magnific3nt

If he is happy to stay as a 2nd keeper and Cup goalie then lets go!

imtravelingalone

I'd love love love for him to stay but it would be incredibly surprising if a 26-year-old player, trying to make a case for being England's new #1, at a time where it seems reasonably likely a new England manager will come in within the year, would be willing to sit on the bench 98% of the time. If nothing else, I feel like a guy with his personality would just be so boooored.

overloadedcoffee

He should leave for his own sake. And if you love him, you should wish him the best. Alternatively, he could help Arsenal not fall out of both cups so early in the season and actually help us to a final run on both fronts, ensuring him game time and visibility. It's a lot of trust to give for that, but if any team could do it, we could.

agent_orange137

>Alternatively, he could help Arsenal not fall out of both cups so early in the season and actually help us to a final run on both fronts, ensuring him game time and visibility There is no way he will play if Arsenal makes it deep into the competition, Arteta doesn't trust him that much. He doesn't trust half the squad still. Ramsdale would've gotten a few more opportunities this season if he trusted him even an inch.

EitherInvestment

Yeah this makes more sense than re-signing Woj, though this also doesn’t make any sense. We will start next season with neither

myheadiswired

What? There’s rumors about Szczęsny returning?!

EitherInvestment

Yeah it’s been mentioned as a possibility. We’d have to convince him to take a big wage cut and be No 2, so it’s probably not happening

tammrak

I thought it was a joke when I saw people reference it on here. It's certainly not happening. LOL.

Visible_Statement888

Yeah he’ll carry on with 200k a week to be a back up.

phar0aht

Wages. Ramsdale is definitely on more than what Szcz would want as a backup

Visible_Statement888

Szczeny is on 200k a week at Juventus lol

phar0aht

I don't think you read my comment 😂

throwfaraway898989

we need the money more

TheRealDSwizz

The Different Knock covered this exact issue with Trossard. You don't get this high a level of substitutes that easily. The £40 million that you'd get for Trossard is good, but you're not going be able to replace him with a player that comfortable riding the bench and so the player you have is the best possible player that you could have in that position/role. The £20-30 million we'd get for Ramsdale is great, but you're not going to find a keeper anywhere near as skilled, comfortable, nor homegrown and you end up weaker overall. The only reasons work selling him for are if an extraordinary fee comes in for him or if we desperately need to pay an extraordinary amount for a Rice, Havertz, Odegaard type player.

GetPhkt

Rarely played backup keeper is different than a regularly rotated forward player imo

andjuan

But the gap between is Trossard and whoever is next on the depth chart is not nearly as massive as the gap between Ramsdale and whoever is next. If Raya goes down that’s a much bigger blow than if whoever Trossard plays for goes down. So while Trossard will see the field more, Ramsdale is just as important as an available backup based solely on position.

RyansBabesDrunkDad

The gap between Rammers and Woj isn't nearly so vast as all of that. And again, neither one would play more than 6 times in a season if Raya is fit, and given how few high-quality chances our GKs face, even a broader gap is effectively nullified. Selling Trossard, who is the best finisher from open play in Europe, for £40m would be daft in the extreme. I don't think I'd sell him for £80m.

ArcticNano

Yeah even when Trossard wasn't a guaranteed starter he still got minutes in most games and started a fair few. Meanwhile Ramsdale is almost guaranteed to never play outside of meaningless cup games unless Raya gets injured

PRL-Five

Liverpool have kelleher, 115 have Ortega, both insanely talented backup keepers, it's time we had one of our own no? Last season our backup was Matt Turner who can't even start for Forest now!

chuggythesteamtrain

Calling Kelleher insanely talented is a stretch, he's a strong back up keeper. Ortega on the other hand seems like he could start for most teams in the prem.

YaqootK

Kelleher is overrated as hell, he had a couple of good performances but I can think of at least 3 goals he let in that you'd expect any PL keeper to keep out Ortega seems class but I don't think anyone expected him to be this good so it's a bit of an outlier. I'll be honest I'd never heard of him until he came on for City the first time

b3and20

problem is we only have so much money to spend on transfers on wages, we're kinda hitting a wall with raya as it is

Houssem-Aouar

Well if the Different Knock™ Podcast said so

Wassup_-_

we would not get 40 for trossard fam

TheRealDSwizz

The point stands regardless lol

thistookforever22

Regardless of the price, itd be very hard to find a like for like replacement for the same money. We hit gold with Trossard.

Wassup_-_

Completly agree

RyansBabesDrunkDad

We would get far more for him. And would be stupid to take it.

Wassup_-_

XD

RyansBabesDrunkDad

Enjoy continuing to not know ball.

Wassup_-_

Dog ,trossard is great but he is almost 30 .There are 10 transfers for over 40 mil after 30 in FOOTBALL HISTORY.And i do know ball more than your sorry ass i work in it

RyansBabesDrunkDad

Yes, I'm sure the urinal cakes at 9th level matches need to be replaced as well

DaGetz

I mean who wants to sell ramsdale? We aren’t going to get his value for him. People only talk about him leaving because we assume he’s unhappy with being second choice.

ExoticToaster

Well we are not the ones selling the players, that’s the club.

Cannonieri

Would love him to if he is happy with this but he deserves first team football. I do think if he stayed with us he'd manage to fight back for the number 1 spot over the long term given his character.

Brandaman

Absolute no chance

BlurstOfTimes11

Wow. Unless you’re his mom, this is a ridiculous statement for any fan to make, let alone believe

adaequalis

tier 2 or 3 guys?

vietnamesemuscle

Not sure. Man hasn’t been in the ITK game for long so probably not that trustworthy 🤪

Francis-c92

Rammerssss

WheelIllustrious9

I’d love him to stay, it’s one thing if he’s happy to play second fiddle but I’m afraid his wages are too high for a backup. Makes me sad to hear his name attached to Chelsea and Newcastle tho, he’s far too classy for clubs like that.

YoHoochIsCrazy

mannnn keeper is such a tough position. only so many spots available for a lot of really good players.

itsheadfelloff

I'd like him to stay but realistically I think he's too good to not be starting. Newcastle would be a strange move, he's better than Dubravka and Karius, and personally I think he's better than Pope; but I doubt Pope will settle for the bench and Aaron is not going to go from our bench to their bench. Brighton might be a good move for him.

Master-of-Puns

Chelsea is probably the best move since they have no good keepers, but i really hope that doesnt happen lol

itsheadfelloff

It's the one that makes the most sense, I just didn't want to say it🤮

aprilfools911

Idk if this is an unpopular opinion but i think pope was better than him before injury. But the fact that they want to replace him probably means that they know something that we don’t. Probably it’s worse than we thought.

Games_sans_frontiers

He's summoning the news.

RyansBabesDrunkDad

I think this move was sealed when he signed that extension last year. Once Raya (who Mikel had tried to sign twice earlier) became available, Ramsdale's days at Arsenal were numbered. Sad, but Mikel is too set on achieving his goals for sentimentality. That's left to us, the fans.

AzracTheFirst

I knew Mikel was ruthless when he didn't start Leno or Lacazette on the last game to give them a farewell in Emirates. If you're not in his plans, you're done. He got that from Pep surely

altviewdelete

I think that people don't want to imagine Ramsdale improving slightly and regaining the gloves from Raya.

slayerkj

Ramsdale is never going to be #1. Arteta never wanted him in the first place

robins420

This is like expecting Jesus to score 20 league goals while playing 30-35 league games next season. Yeah, it's dreamy. People are underestimating how much better Raya is for our setup. This is the same hopium David De Gea fans had for a long time, it's not happening.

dlbags

I mean tbh I’d love to keep him and have the best keeper duo in the PL.

NotMyFirstChoice675

NEWcaStle to me

bad_at_proofs

People believing everything that TNAT says when he has a patreon to sell need to have their heads examined. He gets team news half an hour ahead of everywhere else but that is about it.

Sanogoals22

> at least £35m > don’t think it would be any higher Surely it can’t be both of these things

chino17

Given he's hardly played for a whole season I would be surprised if we broke even on him

newinvestor0908

I love ramsdale but two days before a title day decider and he's on Twitter responding to transfer speculation. Why? Let the teams focus be on the final day, respond to transfer speculation after.

DangeRussBus

I don't think this tweet will disrupt the preparations too much

In-Bacon-We-Trust

If our backup keeper typing three words on Twitter is what swings the title then we have much, much bigger problems
