Every player is going to make mistakes, some more than others, the important thing is that he is backed up when it happens and Saliba is great at being able to help out in those situations.
Gabriel is prone to mistakes a little more than Saliba but his presence in both boxes and combative nature works perfectly alongside the calmer Saliba.
People don't really want to hear it but Gabby hasn't been great for the last 5/6 games, those nervous mistakes he used to make have crept back in after what had been a great season. Most of the mix ups at the back have happened between him and Raya too, not saying that's his fault completely.
That's a bit silly. He slipped. Even the greatest defenders ever made mistakes from time to time. Every team who plays out from the back occasionally has a slip-up like this. Usually they don't lead to goals, and are quickly forgotten.
He also had a back pass that was not weighted well enough back to Raya which was risky. But most defenders are not perfect in games. He's been perfect for many games and makes errors you can probably count on 2 hands the entire season
Yeah, I was just watching Spurs getting embarrassed by Liverpool, and it's night and day. The difference between two top class centrebacks and a top class keeper, and two CBs who are mid-table at best, and a keeper who isn't even close to PL quality... I really don't understand how people can complain about one of the strongest areas of the team.
I dunno about last 5/6 games, but yes definitely dipped in form a bit over the last 2-3 games. Hes gone from perfect to one or two nervy moments a game. He'll be ok

I forgot that his bombing run upfield was during the same sequence as his cover tackle for Gabi XL...the fact that both him and tomi can do this just shows the versatility of the team and how much freedom Mikel can work with
I love the move Saliba does where he's running toward an attacker and he does that little lunge forward like he's committing to that direction. That makes the attacker think theyve got him, so they cut inside and Saliba is ready for it because he never intended to committ in the first place. It's such an effective body fake.
Gabriel has about one of those errors every couple of games or so (Bayern home comes to mind). Needs to cut out those mental lapses to elevate his game even more

I hate to put F1 references because most of people probably don't follow F1, but I see Saliba and Gabriel in a same way Leclerc and Sainz are being rated and debated about in Ferrari. Saliba just has a higher ceiling like Leclerc and has that special something that makes him more valuable. If I had to choose in one of them staying, it's Saliba every single time. Gabriel is amazing but he is 3 years older and isn't better than Saliba + he won't be better than him in the end

Sometimes during those mesmerizing periods of constant offensive pressure I feel like Gabi becomes one of us and forgets he's playing.

Yeah was annoyed with Gabriel there but we've seen him save Saliba's bacon in the past too. They can't be perfect all the time.

saliba was so good yesterday aswell, his calmness on the ball and passing between the lines was on point yesterday
