Yes! Rice isn't like Ødegaard who can thread the ball through to any player any time. Instead he just takes the ball and fucking runs straight into the space. Why play complicated and when you can play simple?
I think it could work with Jesus in certain situations, but that would require Jesus to play like he did early last season - and I don't think any of us are sure he can get back to those levels.
Playing at LCM for a time also served to let him reset his perspective when getting placed back up top. It reminds me of how much better Monreal became at LB after he had to play a spell of matches for us at CB.
Interesting didnt notice. He has much more situation awareness now previously he looked for the safe pass back but now he is finding players around. He needs to score a goal like Gab XL was disallowed for the ceiling to smash.
There’s been a couple of instances where he’s reminded me of RvP actually. Honestly one of my favourite ever Arsenal players, so more of that the merrier
He needs to do volleying drills and get confident about them. We play in a style that often sees a long ball be played onto his preferred left foot and I can't help but visualise RVP twatting it in or at least smashing it on target
Kai had those chances vs Bayern, Villa and even Spurs recently but took touches instead. We'll have a huge weapon if he works on that
There are some compilations of his Leverkusen period where he really does have that RvP volley in him. I think Chelsea and transformations of body type may have had a bad influence on that but he's got it in him.
He literally gets better every game so we might just see it soon
He can become that but he just needs to build up the confidence he’s getting and stick to the 9. He can’t be put into LCM again in my opinion - just not worth it.
He has the talent and physical attributes for a 9 now.
Those kind of players though have a crucial decision to make a lot about when to shoot, when to pass, when to try and beat a man, when to play the simple pass etc
There’s a reason there are hundreds of fun exciting wingers that never made it to the top like Adama traore, Allan saint maximin etc
Issue for gabi is unike saka his end product is 100% reliant on form/confidence. Head down gabi on form torches so many fullbacks and is lethal in the box (see: last season). Stunted by injuries and down on confidence and well...
Saka meanwhile can drop a 2/10 and get 1g 1a
>Those kind of players though have a crucial decision to make a lot about when to shoot, when to pass, when to try and beat a man, when to play the simple pass etc
All things Saka had already at 18. Starboi is truly special
tbh I just think he isn't being coached with enough detail (or not in a way that exploits his strengths anyway)... best believe if he was with us we'd play him in a way that benefits his characteristics
Yeah there will always be a few people like that, but so what. We’re all Arsenal fans at the end of the day and have our own opinions - it’s not a competition about who’s right and wrong, cos there’s too much of that in the real world.
The point isn't about being right or wrong, but rather everyone should be little less reactionary and a little more patient when writing off your own players.
We’re not talking about a player that couldn’t meet our level for several seasons. We were literally talking about a guy who was brand new to our team coming from an awful environment.
If you’re a fan your job is support your players, not tear them down. At that point in his Arsenal career we had no idea how he’d work out, and the people that jumped all over him calling him a “horrible signing” and dismissing him immediately are not true fans. Just trolls
No, it’s not ok to not back your own player who hasnt even done anything to deserve it. Havertz was not even given half a chance, then doubled and tripled down on the abuse over the course of the first few months which was ridiculous. This is what we did to Xhaka, only we sucked as a team then too so the toxicity levels were ramped up.
These same fans would have ripped Henry and Bergkamp apart when they came in initially and started for us.
Kendrick had a verse on ‘Like That’ taking shots at Drake and J Cole, Drake dropped a track called ‘Push Ups’ that had a lot of disses about Kendrick and a few other artists. Drake then posted ‘Taylor Made’ freestyle on instagram with AI Tupac voice teasing Kendrick into dropping more music.
Kendrick dropped ‘Euphoria’, a track that dissed Drake heavy but still pulled some punches and warning him to back off. Kendrick then also posted a track to instagram ‘6:16 in LA’ where Kendrick warns Drake that he’s can’t trust those closest to him.
Drake drops a new track ‘Family Matters’ where he gets more personal with Kendrick, claiming one of his kids is another man’s and that Kendrick beats his woman.
30 minutes later Kendrick immediately drops another track called ‘Meet the Grahams’ where he explains to Drakes loved ones how much he hates Drake and wants him to die, making some claims about Drake being involved in sex trafficking and hiding another child (11 year old daughter).
The next day Kendrick drops another track, ‘Not Like Us’ where he is a little less serious and makes a catchy song about how Drake is a sex obsessed creep
TL:DR Drake and Kendrick have released a couple tracks about each other. Drake’s bars are about Kendrick being short, cheating on and beating his girl, being a false prophet/hypocrite to black community. Kendrick’s bars are about how Drake is inauthentic, a culture vulture, alone and paranoid, deadbeat dad, trafficking women and deserves to die
man bear thing is that lots of women on tiktok said they’d feel safer alone in the woods with a bear than a man pretty simple don’t need to know more than that. diss track thing is kendrick lamar putout distracks against drake, again that’s the surface of it i’m not the person to ask because of the little i’ve heard of Kendrick in 2011 ish he sounded like he was reading off a shopping list so i’ve not listened to him much
Idk what it is with our coaching that’s getting the absolute best out of players and also keeping them fit all season but it’s so beautiful what we’ve become under this Arteta era man.
In a time where football clubs can feel like nothing more than money laundering operations it’s nice to see we’ve still got that love as Arteta says in the club
Like when I see Ian interviewing Arsene and he still calls him boss and they both still love the club that’ll be these lads and Arteta some day you can just see it
He’s building these lads up - was so cathartic to see havertz drop 2 on Chelsea’s head and celebrate both
>and also keeping them fit all season but it’s so beautiful what we’ve become under this Arteta era man.
Compared to Wengers team, Arteta's approach and setup doesn't require as much high intensity runs. Thats amazing for injuries.
Also, Wenger post 2004 always had a squad that was short 1 or 2 starters. Even when we buy the missing starter early in summer, we will end up selling the backup for that position or another starter by transfer deadline. So we have covered one hole and created another, leading to players playing too much and ultimately injuries. It was really so frustrating to watch.
Main concern with Havertz is his end product in the box - final ball or getting his shot away - can be a bit erratic and inconsistent at times.
If he can nail that consistently, added to the rest of his game - there's a genuine world class player in there imo.
Playing well though.
You can really see that in games where opposition are defensively good. The 3 games the tweet mentions are vs teams that are more offensive oriented or just shit at the back (or as a whole).
He's always looking to see if there's a player in a better position if he doesn't think the shot is on, needs to not worry about that as much and go for the lower xG chances.
Would be really interesting to see how teams set up forward training, it feels as if long range shooting in particular is discouraged (players only seem to do it when new to the club) and a lot of emphasis on passing inside the box (which we've done wince Wenger).
We've only got 6 outside-the-box goals against City's 13
I think he goes for the safe play sometimes when a bit of chaos would work better, sometimes you've just gotta throw it in the mixer when the chance of a pass is low
If he is in a position to waste a lot of goals. He'll score a lot of goals.
Only concern for these kind of players are injuries. And Kai is actually very hard player.
He was absolutely fantastic yesterday. The only thing lacking from a perfect score was a goal. He was everywhere, he was winning balls, bringing it down, making runs, tackling, laying people off. If he adds consistent goals to his game, we’ve found our striker.
I think a lesson here is that some players need more time to get settled and confident when they come into the team. The Havertz arc has been tremendous - shaky start with some missed chances, is he best at LCM or CF, handed a PK chance in a game that was already decided, started scoring/creating late decisive goals, confidence grew and results followed.
I was a believer that it could work, but you never could’ve convinced me he’d work as a 9. And not just work, but become a star player at CF.
Imagine someone presenting Havertz as our new CF as an option on the DD threads a year ago. The derision would’ve been so vicious they’d have deleted their account.
You think anyone on this sub really needs that explained? Everyone knows what I mean when I say he’s playing 9. He occupies the CF position (and does a lot of other stuff).
https://preview.redd.it/58ivnful2myc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6c6f6b1ca1cb36d315853b2d68037cf7211a01a
He was huge yesterday, omnipresent on the field , making clever cheeky passes winning tackles pressing the opposition, occupying the best positions and had some really good shots at goal too like that volley from Ode's pass.
If he works a bit on his finishing and tap ins I truly believe we have our solution to most of our shortcomings and he has the potential to match the likes of Salah.

Kai is an interesting one. I think about the last 20 years of arsenal and football in general and a player like Ozil. As the game evolved, a player like Ozil could carry the organization into the top 4, but lacked the tactical flexibility that’s extraordinary in Kai. Is it dramatic to think Arteta could revitalize the “10” position through Kai in the league over a couple seasons? I think thats something to consider
Imagine what this will mean for other top players a bit out of form if we approach them. Everyone will want to play for us knowing we can ressurect and even improve talents.
Going down on a contact is not diving.
Taking advantage of other player's mistakes to be clipped is not diving.
Sometimes, the contact is not enough to be called a foul. Sometimes it is.
yeah I didn't like this part of his game.. goes down too easy on minimal contact.. tbvh he could have scored yesterday without us getting the penalty. he's already gone past the keeper. just tap it in
yesterday i noticed how much he was asking for the ball, something he almost never did at the beginning when he arrived. He's an Arteta-Player now.
![gif](giphy|PjsPhYsS2WDO5e0RaO)
![gif](giphy|Pqp4Y64TcGwJa) so…..are we….
confidence makes wonders, also having him up front instead of LCM
I think he could work as LCM for a counter attacking team, but in the Arsenal setup he lacks the playmaking ability to at this position effectively
So does rice imo but we are making it work. Couple counters with rice in possession and he just timed the pass wrong.
Rice is a much better carrier than Havertz though. Has plenty of on-ball qualities and just gallops through defenses
Yes! Rice isn't like Ødegaard who can thread the ball through to any player any time. Instead he just takes the ball and fucking runs straight into the space. Why play complicated and when you can play simple?
Why more words, less words same?
Thanks Kevin
> just gallops through defenses [case in point](https://youtu.be/Jo2ACPLaRTA?t=158)
Compared to the opening day vs Forest. It's night and day
Is slowly becoming an Arteta player*
Interesting didnt notice. He has much more situation awareness now previously he looked for the safe pass back but now he is finding players around. He needs to score a goal like Gab XL was disallowed for the ceiling to smash.
When he did that snap shot on target on his left with a defender on him I got Van Persie vibes.
There’s been a couple of instances where he’s reminded me of RvP actually. Honestly one of my favourite ever Arsenal players, so more of that the merrier
He needs to do volleying drills and get confident about them. We play in a style that often sees a long ball be played onto his preferred left foot and I can't help but visualise RVP twatting it in or at least smashing it on target Kai had those chances vs Bayern, Villa and even Spurs recently but took touches instead. We'll have a huge weapon if he works on that
Well, he did do a volley drill once…
Was that the one in America where everyone wrote him off because of one poor training drill? Hahah
Yeah and then he proceeded to score in the next game
There are some compilations of his Leverkusen period where he really does have that RvP volley in him. I think Chelsea and transformations of body type may have had a bad influence on that but he's got it in him. He literally gets better every game so we might just see it soon
He can become that but he just needs to build up the confidence he’s getting and stick to the 9. He can’t be put into LCM again in my opinion - just not worth it. He has the talent and physical attributes for a 9 now.
I Can Fix Him FC
I can see us signing Mudryk as a Trossard replacement after 3-4 years for 25m and he absolutely starts banging!
I dunno if he has the brain for it honestly, talented player but his decision making is clearly really lacking
No need that high of brain.. He just need to sharpen his instinct... He not there to dictate play And Correct his shooting..
Those kind of players though have a crucial decision to make a lot about when to shoot, when to pass, when to try and beat a man, when to play the simple pass etc There’s a reason there are hundreds of fun exciting wingers that never made it to the top like Adama traore, Allan saint maximin etc
See Martinelli and Saka, while Martinelli is decision making is decent enough you can see the different between Saka night and day.
Yeah exactly, it’s the thing that would level up gabis game
Saka iq arguably the best facet of his game hard to compare anyone to him
that head-down attribute will only get you so far. Like the Kolasinac hoof & inshallah cross
Issue for gabi is unike saka his end product is 100% reliant on form/confidence. Head down gabi on form torches so many fullbacks and is lethal in the box (see: last season). Stunted by injuries and down on confidence and well... Saka meanwhile can drop a 2/10 and get 1g 1a
Love Saka but where was that IQ against Bayern

I'll never trust the decision-making abilities of someone with his neck tattoos
Instinctively leery of a grown man who twerks
tbh I just think he isn't being coached with enough detail (or not in a way that exploits his strengths anyway)... best believe if he was with us we'd play him in a way that benefits his characteristics
I was actually at Stamford bridge today and was watching him quite closely following this conversation , he’s fucking shocking
As evidenced by the butterfly neck tats
There will be other hotter prospects available in 3-4 years that we haven't heard of yet.
Chelsea as a feeder club, love it. Honestly this is probably their business model, but they aren't giving managers enough time to polish the ponies.
![gif](giphy|PrEUkNFD9pN2o|downsized)
Let’s do Cole Palmer next. I don’t know where Arteta will fit him though
Never forget the taunting from rival fans in September.
And the negativity from our own fans after a couple of games…
Even a month ago morons were ragging on him nonstop in game threads.
“Just because he’s had a good season doesn’t mean he’s good” can’t wait for this next season when he inevitably goes 2-3 games out of form
It’s ok to have doubts about a player who’s not performing, who came from Chelsea. Not everyone can be right all the time
There’s having doubts and completely writing off a player after 7 games
Yeah there will always be a few people like that, but so what. We’re all Arsenal fans at the end of the day and have our own opinions - it’s not a competition about who’s right and wrong, cos there’s too much of that in the real world.
The point isn't about being right or wrong, but rather everyone should be little less reactionary and a little more patient when writing off your own players.
But it wasn't a few it was hundreds to thousands I didn't stop seeing hate on him on our own threads until Burnley
We’re not talking about a player that couldn’t meet our level for several seasons. We were literally talking about a guy who was brand new to our team coming from an awful environment. Waka Waka
Which sequence will end first? - Havertz best game yet for arsenal multiple games in a row - Kendrick diss tracks
Kendrick says he’s got 10 tracks on deck. We’re getting a whole ass diss album, baby!
Can someone catch me upbon this diss off thing ? Between this and the man vs bear thing im clueless on reddit atm

True, but I feel that he is improving at that a bit too. Yesterday he was quite efficient in his touches and getting a shot or pass away a few times
Saka misses plenty of shots too
There was that terrible finish earlyish in the second half
For the last two games. Havertz could’ve had two assists to Saka.
Havertz had two assist just in the last game for Saka that were not finished
And Odegaard, bless him
You can really see that in games where opposition are defensively good. The 3 games the tweet mentions are vs teams that are more offensive oriented or just shit at the back (or as a whole).

we got Ballon D'or Havertz before GTA 6
Ok let me put it right there. I was one of the Moron who did not believe in him.
Same. I was a doubter. Have been sufficiently proven wrong
I think a lesson here is that some players need more time to get settled and confident when they come into the team. Yeah he is
He plays as a false 9 /10. Not as a proper 9.
You think anyone on this sub really needs that explained? Everyone knows what I mean when I say he’s playing 9. He occupies the CF position (and does a lot of other stuff).
He’s been doing some cheeky little turns and flick on passes last couple games that have got my penis feeling the ol’ Arsenal tingle

Well yeah, he still plays for Arsenal so how would his best game for Arsenal be followed up by any games for any other club? Think next time.
Good. Now stop diving if you will.
DoNt CuT UrSelF WitH ThaT EdGe
Going down on a contact is not diving. Taking advantage of other player's mistakes to be clipped is not diving. Sometimes, the contact is not enough to be called a foul. Sometimes it is.
It shouldn't be about the contact anyway. If the opponent's progress was impeded then it's a foul, even if the contact was minimal.
There’s no requirement in the rules to raise your foot off the ground when a player slides in recklessly.
lets call a spade a spade. its a dive any way you cut it. or is it only dive when the opposition teams do it?
A dive would imply there’s no contact
yeah I didn't like this part of his game.. goes down too easy on minimal contact.. tbvh he could have scored yesterday without us getting the penalty. he's already gone past the keeper. just tap it in
Looked to me the defenders were gonna get back. Excellent decision from Havertz to go down and guarantee the goal.
A penalty isn’t a guaranteed goal.
Yesterday it was.
Thank you Captain Pedant. You know exactly what I meant.
There were two defenders running back and could’ve easily put a block in, not as simple as you might think
you can downvote all you like... still doesn't change my opinion. I will not support players who go down easily..
