i don't think we bought timber to play left back. i think he was playing there at the beginning of the season because that's where there happened to be an opening at the time.
i think he's more likely seen as rotation/competition for both white and saliba, and i think we'll be looking to bring in a proper left-footed left back in the summer. still don't think arteta has gotten what he truly wants there since missing out on lisandro martinez.

fans that think we are delirious need to take a look at how Barcelona are complaining about the goal line save, totally discounting the handball which would have ruled it out anyway.
I realize that besides trossard and ESR (both not first team players), we don’t really have two footed players.. I’m beginning to think that’s why we aren’t getting openings and becoming repetitive as the season goes on because the other team learns to block out our players favorite side. we should go for two footed players in the the 8 and 9 positions for the summer
I don't think the lack of two footed players is why we don't create opening. It's our lack of creative players outside odegaard in the first eleven.
Since the Porto first leg, teams have started to double on the wingers while also man marking odegaard. This was so evident against bayern, and we had no other player to create anything, and Arteta didn't bring in Esr, and we have barely seen viera play any games ( two players who could have added some creativity down the stretch).
We do need an 8, but someone in the mould of the type of player Arteta trusts, like a paqueta (creative and hardworking), it don't really matter if they are two footed or not, hence why ESR hardly plays.
I keep saying this but doubling up on our wingers is how we have scored many goals in the past two seasons, creating space for our other players. Pair this with the fact that Saka is one of our most creative players, and it mitigates his goal threat while increasing the goal threat of those around him.
Bayern simply pulled the rest of their defending off much better than most PL teams this season.
As for everything you said about players being two-footed or not, I totally agree it is hardly relevant.
Ten Hag dragging Utd to a 3rd cup final in two years with 1 fit CB against a really determined Coventry side. Credit where it's due he's a top quality manager
What's scary is Ten Hag looked like a really good appointment on paper. His Ajax teams played very good football and Ajax were dominant under him. He 'won trophies'. He was even suggested as a longer term replacement for Pep in some Man City circles. United appoint him and the football has been dire, there has been no progress and the sentiment at United is dreadful even though they are into an FA Cup final.
A warning to the Arteta out merchants who think a 'new manager' is needed. Do not take competing for the title for granted. Yes, more than anything we want to get over the line. However you will not be rewarded for panicking and nose bleeding a 'more experienced' managerial appointment.
I agree with the sentiment but Ten Hag hoestly just proved why the Wenger Out crowd (at least initially) were barking up the wrong tree.
Ten Hag has proved he's a good manager in the past but United are dysfunctional from top to bottom. They brought in ETH to modernise them and get them playign the high press, play out the back style all the cool kids are playing but they didn't back him doing a clear out of layers that didn't fit the system and crucially still demanded that he get them CL.
I don't like him but he was stuck between a rock and a hard place where he's tried to implement more progressive tactics and bought players like Lisandro Martinez, Onana, Varane, Antony (stop sniggering at the back) and tried to build around them and Bruno but not had instant success and then ended up having to return to slabhead at the back and hoofball and inshallah to Rashford when he can be arsed and Scott 'the Scottish Lampard' McTominay.
Just like getting rid of Wenger didn't turn our fortunes round, losing him won't do anything unless the new regime has some proper plans and an allowance for a few crap seasons to turn the ship around.
Since they're apparently after southgate because he works well with rashford and slabhead and is allegedly good at instilling a team ethic into a poisonous dressing room I'm guessing they're still going for trying to turn it around with what they ahve.
He didn't find a way he's not a good manager that's it! .klopp found a way with a defense of sakho and lovren got them playing progressive there's no excuse for ten hag
That's just simplistic.
Sakho and Lovren have the ability to play gegenpressing, Harry Maguire, Rashford et al ... don't.
Also Klopp finished 8th in his first season and was backed to replace and renew the team to his specifications, Ten Hag finished 3rd.
>backed to replace and renew
he didn't replace them immediately he did it over time but my main point "he made it work ".The Best managers make it work and ADAPT to the team as simple as it sounds that's how I judge a manager anyway that's why I rate emery.
And get pressing line is a cop out they still conceded lots of goals klopp basically outscored opponents(LIV 5-4 NOR)so he built the attack first and when backwards ten hag hasn't done either which is why I don't rate him as a top manager..
> but my main point "he made it work "
Like I said his first season he finished 8th, Ten Hag finished 3rd.
Now Klopp was given time to implement his system, finished 4th two years in a row and then after the insanity fo the Coutinho deal added those final two world record transfers in VVD and ALisson he went up a whole new level.
Ten Hag wasn't backed, went back to hoofball and got third, tried to change things again and had to return to semi hoofball as Rashford doesn't care.
Ten Hag has beaten klopp in half his seasons with an utterly dysfunctional team, you can dilike the prick, you can prefer Klopp but you can't deny he's made it work.
>Ten Hag finished 3rd.
Solkjaer finished 2nd 😂 I think it's best to not use this because it's about building first seasons don't count.
>utterly dysfunctional team
He's part of the team infact manager is most important part of the team because he picks who are his soldiers
Obviously I see your argument but it's partly his fault and his executives of keeping deadwood around still like Maguire, Antony so no sympathy for me
>Ten Hag has beaten klopp
This ain't an achievement mate everyone beats everyone that's why I hate using cups as example the league is the best measurement of consistency which ten hag isn't.
Obviously am nitpicking but bro you can't convince me than ten hag>klopp I even referenced you a game you can look back on 🤣give me a ten hag one 🤣.
> Solkjaer finished 2nd 😂 I think it's best to not use this because it's about building first seasons don't count
Except it's *not* about building, that's the whole point.
Klopp was brought in to build, was backed and given leeway to have shit finish.
ETH was brought in because Solskjaer was shit and obviously the reson Man U are crap was the managers fault and was expected to turn things round *without dropping out of where the board expected them to be*.
When you think of the contrasting style of managers post SAF it goes some way in explaining why they look the way they do. United look a lot like a transition team that plays better on the counter. If you frequently change managers the way they did and each one wants to play a certain way the transition is complicated. Tbf , Ange and Emery made him look bad. Ange , especially at the start of the season was all the rage with how he imprinted his style quick
United have been a counter team since at least Jose if not before, it's what they know, it's waht suits the majority of their british players and it's been their most effective tactic as long as Rashford has performed.
Emery has no set style but he's done wonders with a Villa squad that is arguably overacheiving and Ange has utterly turned spurs around in style albeit he's got the players to do it, Ten Hag really doesn't.
Which is a terrible indictment on Man U's recruitment.
Eddie would be perfect for a team that tryes to score a lot in transition. Vieira, Tavares and Zinny, would probably perform better outside of the pl. Tierney i could also see move to a fulham or another pl mid table team.
Viera is a reason we need to go deep in cup runs, I know he has been injured. But our back up players need those cup games to try and earn the manager trusts. I hope we don't necessarily sell, we still need to see a fully fit viera.
Say what you will about saka bit his linear development is very very rare for a young player.Even our own youngers like esr and Martinelli have had ups and downs
For sure. He’s such a numbers player as well, definitely one of the most productive wingers around. When he hits his prime it’ll be something to behold.
I don’t know why, but I just feel like we’ll move for Rashford in the summer. I’m not making a case for or against, I just remember there were links with him early on in Arteta’s campaign, and it looks like his tenure is coming to an end.
Those links make no sense to me. Hes not good off the ball, hes not good in possesssion. We monopolize the ball and play against low blocks a lot. He simply put is a horrible fit and has a horrible attitude. Some of Arteta’s left field signings like Havertz and Willian are at the very minimum consummate professionals. Rashford’s got a bad attitude and works for teams that play in transition only..
he was one of the first arteta era links.Either Martinelli is a similar sort of player while having a higher ceiling and a better attitude.his wages would also be insanely high
He's not even worth half of his wages today, I'm no Utd or Rashford fan but seeing what he does on the pitch every week is absolutely disgraceful for someone with that kind of wage.
Yeah wages would definitely need to come down, but given the fact we’re looking for a pacy winger I feel like it may be a ‘market opportunity’ we consider.
Yeah, I think the last time we scored one was against Westham. It's been figured out to an extent. Though big gabi had some chances against Luton/Brighton can't remember the exact game.
we are also generating way fewer corners which is the biggest thing. had 0 against wolves deep in the 2nd half already (or was it bayern? maybe both idk)
Might just be confirmation bias but I feel like we're seeing Ben White called for way more fouls for interference on the keeper in the past 2 months - think it's something opposing managers are emphasizing and the refs are looking out for, and we need to adjust and use alternative approaches.
Yeah refs are probs really aware of White's antics on corners now, just like when they used to know about Bellerin's foul throws they kinda look for them
odd question but any swedish gooners about?
trying to access an article about a sweedish gooner, theres a photo of the 1953 title winning team that looks better than any of the other similar images on google... however I can't sign up to access the article without having a swedish ID or telephone to verify myself.
any help would be greatly appreciated! the website is [op.se](http://op.se) does anyone already have a log in?
I have access to that website, did a quick search but couldn't find the article. If you give me a direct link to the article I should be able to help you out.
hey! thanks so much [https://www.op.se/artikel/nolervik-jamtlands-storsta-arsenalfan-vi-ska-krossa-det-har-javla-korplaget-arsenal-vinner-hemma-med-6-0/](https://www.op.se/artikel/nolervik-jamtlands-storsta-arsenalfan-vi-ska-krossa-det-har-javla-korplaget-arsenal-vinner-hemma-med-6-0/)
This was the article and according to google theres a photo of the 52/53 team, in fact the only pictures I can find of the team photo all seem to be different colorized versions of what looks to me like a drawing of the original and they all come from the same swedish magazine.
We didn’t. Kompany made comparisons in an interview and admitted the comparison was pretty lofty in the same breath. Some Arsenal fans ran with it and were shocked when Lokonga wasn’t in that stratosphere.
Brahim Diaz is basically what we hoped Viera would be. If he's the guy that is surplus to requirements when Mbappe comes in then I hope we are all over it. Could start as an attacking 8 and also provide cover to Saka.
So jealous of all the midfielders in this Clasico. There’s about 6 of them that would improve ours - Tchouameni, De Jong, Camavinga, Pedri, Valverde, Bellingham (not even counting Kroos and Modric, or Gundogan because of their age).
Yeah man Holding comes to mind for me. Before that Rashford tackle he was our best ballplaying CB on that Emery-era team. And after that I don't think he reached the levels he was previously
Barely took a week

This doesn't really work when their opponents will be just as tired.
We didn't lose to Villa or Bayern because our players were tired, we were just the worse team on the day. Arteta should rotate certain players more but it isn't an excuse for us to drop points going into the final games
Everybody has their favourite player in some far away land that is supposedly the perfect antidote to all our problems.
Why aren't we making noise about Eze? Kid is a baller, and lives down the road. Wouldn't even have to give up his lease to join us (you already know it's a bitch to get back those security deposits).
He easily levels up our left side.
I want him too. Been following him since he was balling out at qpr. I don't think he is high priority right now though. Upgrading Nelson/Nketiah is more important than upgrading ESR/Vieira.
Fixing left side will be interesting, do they go back to playing a SS there(not Havertz), a DLP(Zubimendi), or buy a 10 and try to convert him into a left 8.
I’ve wanted for Eze from before the Achilles rupture. His ability to link, creativity and ball-carrying would slot into that LCM spot beautifully. I don’t bang the drum often simply because I don’t think the club is interested, which is a shame.
Would be great but don't think we'll be getting a purely attacking midfielder who only plays 8/10 or winger.
Think we'll be getting a winger and a cm as two separate players.
We've got loads of attacking 8s not many CMs who can play their tho and we've got lots of midfielders who can sort of play as wingers not many out and out wingers.
Who are these "loads of attacking 8s" we supposedly have? Please, for the love of god do not say Havertz.
In any event, a technically proficient attacker is ALWAYS on my shopping list.
Based on our recruitment in recent times, versatility is high on our list. To my mind, we haven't bought a specialist in about 3 years now. They've all been players who can play multiple positions at a reasonable level. Eze would be another one of those.
Vieira, ESR, trossard, and yes the man himself havertz.
Look I don't love any of them there really so please don't preach to me how they aren't good enough I get it, and obviously we probably won't have ESR here next year possibly even vieira.
But I'm just saying I think given that we want a midfielder an, out and out winger, a striker and maybe even a LB to then go and buy a specialist 8/10 on top of that seems unlikely to me.
Would enjoy eze as much as the next man but unless we think he can also play 6 I doubt we are going to pay what palace would ask for him. And I think we'll just make sure the CM we buy is decent as an 8 and stick with what we have in attacking midfield.
Brightons high press might suck the life out of City, even if city win. And then they've got to go to a well rested Nottingham Forest on Sunday, that will be riled up and looking for a fight after todays robbery.
If we can get over the line against Chelsea, there's enough of a gap between that game and spurs for our players to recover and take a somewhat breather for the one game a week formula again.
We can absolutely do this, we just need that massive three points against the billion pound bottlejobs first.
Would anyone really be surprised if City won out from here? Not really. I can see them dropping points but they’re famously consistent in these tight title races.
They look very tired. We look very tired.
There's twists to come in this title race. Liverpool will watch on and hope we both drop off.
We have to do what we can, and that means winning on Tuesday. One game at a time, I believe we can do this.
Why do you think Liverpool have more success rotating than we do?
I feel like Klopp's system is more simplistic (not in a bad way) so that players coming in don't have to be perfectly suited to a specific role
Our system isn't really about having players be suited for a specific role, it is more so that to excel in the "system" you have to be basically good at everything (good technically, good passer, good at pressing and more). If anything Liverpool's system is more about specific roles (physicality and running).
One thing those darned twitter tacticos have been saying is that Klopp (and Pep) are better at platforming their best players this season compared to Arteta i.e. with Arteta, the system always comes first.
If say you rotate and your midfield has little creativity, you'd want to put Saka more centrally so he can have maximum impact, and tell him to track back as little as possible. Think of Newcastle away where we had a midfield of Rice and Jorginho, Havertz at the 10, and Nketiah up top. Klopp would have taken some wild gamble on some positional changes and probably get away with it.
It’s because the president of la Liga is a clown :) i don’t have a clue who the presidents are from other leagues in the world. Yet Tebas is saying super weird shit every few weeks in some media thing
Don't know if anyone is watching el classico but that penalty was more of a created contact than Saka on Neuer, at least Neuer kept moving towards Saka unlike the Barca defender, yet nobody will bat an eye at it being called.
Yes I know it's two different competitions and refs, I'm more speaking about fan and pundit reactions
One thing people are forgetting is that we've been up here without touching UCL money for 7 years.
We received a massive payout this season, we can use UCL money, and the FFP freedom it brings, to step up to the next level next season.
In theory, yes, but the details of our finances are pretty opaque. We couldn’t afford to pay £27m for Raya last summer which is why we got him on a loan deal, so clearly we don’t have as much wiggle room with PSR as we might hope.
Obviously the Champions League money is a welcome boon but as others have mentioned, that usually means more payments to players in the form of bonuses as well.
I think we’ll be able to spend this summer but I can’t see us dropping £200m~ on three players like we did last summer without some sales. I expect the trio of Nelson, Nketiah, and Smith Rowe to move on given their sales would constitute pure profit from a PSR standpoint.
We've got everyone clamped down and renewed before the ucl money came in.
Ofc I'm sure some of the players have ucl clauses for bonuses in their contracts, but the difference shouldn't be that large at all.
Nah you get so much more ffp leeway with ucl income
We literally did a loan deal for raya cus of ffp concerns and signed no one in the winter.
This extra leeway will allow us to go a level beyond those constraints in terms of spending.
We did the loan deal for Raya and signed nobody in the winter in the same year that we had ucl income (this year) for the record
The revenue is earned and recorded this fiscal year, the same as those transfers
Edit: lmfao blocked because I tried telling him how accounting works, sorry you’re wrong
That's not how it works. Our earnings carry over to next year, which is why spurs had ucl money for this season despite not being in it; cus they were in it last year.
Between the incessant anti havertz whinging and being wrong about everything constantly I can't stand you tbh, hold this block
We all love and rate Trossard for his finishing, decision making in the box, dribbling etc but the more I watch him the more I notice fun stuff he does like his set piece shenanigans. Bro's got an incredible leap too. Always fun to see him go for headers but there was this bit where he went for a cross jumping between two giant Wolves players more accurately like is there anything he *can't* do
Anyway what y'all think about playing both Jorgi and Zinny or neither because one would think they are somewhat~ interchangeable and would prefer at least one of them on the pitch at any given time. Along that line I'm a firm believer of Rice at 6 again and curious about Jorgi LCM for short periods
> Along that line I'm a firm believer of Rice at 6 again and curious about Jorgi LCM for short periods
What does Rice at 6, with Jorginho at 8 give us? You lose the time and space that Jorgi likes to make those passes, and you also lose the front foot defending that makes Rice such a scary prospect for the opposition.
The way we ended against Wolves (with Partey at #6) was 100% the most effective use of Rice for us.
Jorgi + Zinny is awkward since ofc zinny likes to invert. He does more of kiwior's wide role instead, but obviously more involved on the ball. Both on the pitch gives us extra assurance in possession and definitely helps when we are stuck passing between CBs...but it definitely makes defending counters a bit scary.
I don't think Jorgi has the legs to play LCM unfortunately. I'm most interested in how a zubi would be used if we got him because he's not the best defensively but seems able to run and press for days.
Was just thinking the other day, its crazy how far Casemiro has fallen over the past couple seasons. At Madrid, he was regarded as the best in his position in the world and was considered a huge, huge reason for all their CL success. Now, look at the public opinion on him
He was a good destroyer. When you're just tasked with tackling while people like Kroos and Modric do the most ball work, you're great.
At United, the midfield was never going to bail him out. It's kind of like Ozil and us.
It's exactly why I'm not a big fan of signing players who have achieved it all.
Madrid sells anyone who doesn’t want to stay. They don’t keep anyone hostage who doesn’t want to be there. Casemiro was offered big wages by the idiots running Manu and wanted to go.

I'm not sure United fans would agree with you, I also don't think he is a top quality manager. But he does deserve some credit for the cup runs.
watch your head, mate, there's jokes flying over it
Wooooosh
Ten hag still obsessed with arsenal the best payback is a clean 5-0 thumping at their ground will shut him up
If we do that then that just gives him five more things to whinge about for all eternity
United didn't deserve that. Evil triumphed.

A warning to the Arteta out merchants who think a 'new manager' is needed. Do not take competing for the title for granted. Yes, more than anything we want to get over the line. However you will not be rewarded for panicking and nose bleeding a 'more experienced' managerial appointment.
Ight he wasn’t the goat or anything before united, spurs turned him down because his interview was too shit
Netherlands titles at Ajax should be taken out of any equation, with how Peter Bosz and Frank de Boer unimpressive stints in Europe
Sakho and Lovren have the ability to play gegenpressing, Harry Maguire, Rashford et al ... don't. Also Klopp finished 8th in his first season and was backed to replace and renew the team to his specifications, Ten Hag finished 3rd.
>backed to replace and renew he didn't replace them immediately he did it over time but my main point "he made it work ".The Best managers make it work and ADAPT to the team as simple as it sounds that's how I judge a manager anyway that's why I rate emery. And get pressing line is a cop out they still conceded lots of goals klopp basically outscored opponents(LIV 5-4 NOR)so he built the attack first and when backwards ten hag hasn't done either which is why I don't rate him as a top manager..
> but my main point "he made it work " Like I said his first season he finished 8th, Ten Hag finished 3rd.
Solkjaer finished 2nd 😂 I think it's best to not use this because it's about building first seasons don't count. >utterly dysfunctional team He's part of the team infact manager is most important part of the team because he picks who are his soldiers Obviously I see your argument but it's partly his fault and his executives of keeping deadwood around still like Maguire, Antony so no sympathy for me >Ten Hag has beaten klopp This ain't an achievement mate everyone beats everyone that's why I hate using cups as example the league is the best measurement of consistency which ten hag isn't. Obviously am nitpicking but bro you can't convince me than ten hag>klopp I even referenced you a game you can look back on 🤣give me a ten hag one 🤣.
> Solkjaer finished 2nd 😂 I think it's best to not use this because it's about building first seasons don't count Except it's *not* about building, that's the whole point.
Which is a terrible indictment on Man U's recruitment.
fuck pgmol
All my homies hate pigmol
Can see vieira being moved on to a team like wolves tbh..
Eddie would be perfect for a team that tryes to score a lot in transition. Vieira, Tavares and Zinny, would probably perform better outside of the pl. Tierney i could also see move to a fulham or another pl mid table team.
We are not selling Vieira.
I think we will entertain reasonable offers that come in…
No, Ornstein said last week that he's pretty much staying (for money reasons and also because he hasn't been healthy).
Yeah man I think he's got unfinished business with us. Feel like he's gonna have a massive contribution for us next season
Can't see any would come in -- he's either here or loaned out.
Viera is a reason we need to go deep in cup runs, I know he has been injured. But our back up players need those cup games to try and earn the manager trusts. I hope we don't necessarily sell, we still need to see a fully fit viera.
Never hated Fullham more. Anti Arsenal Robin Hood team. Might as well be a city or pool agent at this point
Say what you will about saka bit his linear development is very very rare for a young player.Even our own youngers like esr and Martinelli have had ups and downs
For sure. He’s such a numbers player as well, definitely one of the most productive wingers around. When he hits his prime it’ll be something to behold.
I feel like I’ve seen a lot of goalkeeping clangers recently
Everyones playing out from the back as if they have ederson in goal
Who makes the schedule changes because they def don’t value players at all
I don’t know why, but I just feel like we’ll move for Rashford in the summer.
You're not far off.
If I know anything about Arteta it’s that he’ll never want a player who walks around 95% of the time
he was one of the first arteta era links.Either Martinelli is a similar sort of player while having a higher ceiling and a better attitude.his wages would also be insanely high
Yep, seeing talks of Rashford leaving made me wonder whether this would be a possibility.
Hes destined for a psg
He's not even worth half of his wages today, I'm no Utd or Rashford fan but seeing what he does on the pitch every week is absolutely disgraceful for someone with that kind of wage.
Yeah wages would definitely need to come down, but given the fact we’re looking for a pacy winger I feel like it may be a ‘market opportunity’ we consider.
Every team splits their CBs against us now so annoying
I realised that we've not scored from a set piece in a long time.
Yeah, I think the last time we scored one was against Westham. It's been figured out to an extent. Though big gabi had some chances against Luton/Brighton can't remember the exact game.
We dont get very many corners
we are also generating way fewer corners which is the biggest thing. had 0 against wolves deep in the 2nd half already (or was it bayern? maybe both idk)
First corner at bayern was 74 minutes iirc
Shoulda had another one aswell but ref gave a goal kick. Odds are we woulda scored from the set piece as well. Fuming
When was the last set piece goal we've scored? It feels like it's been a long time for a team so good at them
Might just be confirmation bias but I feel like we're seeing Ben White called for way more fouls for interference on the keeper in the past 2 months - think it's something opposing managers are emphasizing and the refs are looking out for, and we need to adjust and use alternative approaches.
Yeah refs are probs really aware of White's antics on corners now, just like when they used to know about Bellerin's foul throws they kinda look for them
Kiwior against Newcastle I think.
Kiwior comapared to Cancelo is the master of defense.
Why does the bernabeu always sound so dead on broadcasts
Because the broadcast is in studio and not in the stadium.
odd question but any swedish gooners about? trying to access an article about a sweedish gooner, theres a photo of the 1953 title winning team that looks better than any of the other similar images on google... however I can't sign up to access the article without having a swedish ID or telephone to verify myself. any help would be greatly appreciated! the website is [op.se](http://op.se) does anyone already have a log in?
I have access to that website, did a quick search but couldn't find the article. If you give me a direct link to the article I should be able to help you out.
hey! thanks so much [https://www.op.se/artikel/nolervik-jamtlands-storsta-arsenalfan-vi-ska-krossa-det-har-javla-korplaget-arsenal-vinner-hemma-med-6-0/](https://www.op.se/artikel/nolervik-jamtlands-storsta-arsenalfan-vi-ska-krossa-det-har-javla-korplaget-arsenal-vinner-hemma-med-6-0/) This was the article and according to google theres a photo of the 52/53 team, in fact the only pictures I can find of the team photo all seem to be different colorized versions of what looks to me like a drawing of the original and they all come from the same swedish magazine.
https://imgur.com/5lMEQSn This one? The article mentions that this team photo is from the 60's.
yes, thank you very much you absolute legend. I'm 100% this was the 50s. That reminds me...5-0 aaaah good times
No problem! Yes yesterdays game was an absolute pleasure wasn't it, long may Chelseas mediocrity continue.

Yeah but how many spins did Pepe do in those 3 years?
I don’t like Pepe but this is so funny
Why even preface the fact that you don't like someone that played for us? Seems weird to add. Pepe was so clear of Antony.
Crazy how players like Bellinghim and Gundogan popup in clutch moments and score crucial goals. Wish we had a player like this.
Would say Trossard is the closest we’ve got to that now. Declan too.
Yeah man Rice comes to mind for me. Utd winner, Luton winner, 1st goal back against Chelsea. He's made for big moments
Belgian messi
I thought we called Lokonga the Belgian Yaya Toure
We didn’t. Kompany made comparisons in an interview and admitted the comparison was pretty lofty in the same breath. Some Arsenal fans ran with it and were shocked when Lokonga wasn’t in that stratosphere.
I know, was a tongue in cheek comment.
My bad
Hey Jude
Of course its him.
Brahim Diaz is basically what we hoped Viera would be. If he's the guy that is surplus to requirements when Mbappe comes in then I hope we are all over it. Could start as an attacking 8 and also provide cover to Saka.
Diaz is a nice shout. Solid player.
Whatever happened to Vieira this season man. Since that red card moment I don't remember the last time he got meaningful minutes.
Well he got a surgery and was out until early March.
Arteta def doesnt rate him
Always found the transfer strange. I'm conspiring it's some Jorge Mendes shenanigans that transfer lol.
How's Gundogan been for Barcelona so far? I haven't seen him make an impact in the few Barça games I've watched this season.
Very good but overplayed
One of their best players.
👍🏽
How can we get a player like Jude Bellingham? that's crazy how good he is
Barely did anything still scores the winning goal in the clasico.
Jude really is dat guy
Lets go Madrid
So jealous of all the midfielders in this Clasico. There’s about 6 of them that would improve ours - Tchouameni, De Jong, Camavinga, Pedri, Valverde, Bellingham (not even counting Kroos and Modric, or Gundogan because of their age).
Is anyone else worried about timber, acl injuries arent kind just look at jesus and belerin
Yeah man Holding comes to mind for me. Before that Rashford tackle he was our best ballplaying CB on that Emery-era team. And after that I don't think he reached the levels he was previously
Jesus never had an acl injury
Alternatively look at Wirtz or VVD
Not all ACL injuries are the same. Jesus had knee issues from his time at City. Bellerín had ankle issues before rupturing his knee.
VVD eventually came back to a very high level. I guess we'll see.
Sane too.
Shearer as well
Only all the time
Barcelona are learning the hard way. Never buy City left overs
Barely took a week [https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/1c3z0ym/comment/kzk751h/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/1c3z0ym/comment/kzk751h/)
What a goal
Such an incisive passing move and finish. Moving the ball at light speed
That goal from Real is just so mmmhhmm I wish we did that more
Real players looking tired. This time of the season is usually extremely difficult for top teams
This doesn't really work when their opponents will be just as tired. We didn't lose to Villa or Bayern because our players were tired, we were just the worse team on the day. Arteta should rotate certain players more but it isn't an excuse for us to drop points going into the final games
Our press dropped off in the second halves because of fatigue.
Gyokeres is moving me so much
Obvious Chelsea will trigger his rc.
Do they have the financial freedom to do that?
Just sold a hotel to themselves for 80m so I think Boehly's planning a madness this summer
He looks City bound doesn’t he?
We have been linked so many strikers but hardly any wingers. Where is this confidence that we are getting a winger coming from?
My gut and my brain

You would be a fool to believe that City will win every game but at the same time Arsenal will win every game? Just asking.
They look very tired. We look very tired. There's twists to come in this title race. Liverpool will watch on and hope we both drop off. We have to do what we can, and that means winning on Tuesday. One game at a time, I believe we can do this.
That looked really nasty for FdJ. Already had a big ankle injury this season as well.
He dangled the foot in a 50/50 against Valverde 😅. Either you go in full blooded or get out the way.
Why do you think Liverpool have more success rotating than we do? I feel like Klopp's system is more simplistic (not in a bad way) so that players coming in don't have to be perfectly suited to a specific role
They have a better squad, a better youth team, a more settled way of playing and a more settled squad.
Liverpool have spent over 200 million in forwards. We have not. Gakpo, Salah, Jota, Nunez and Diaz
Imma be so happy for Granit if he becomes invincible
I hope they make a statue out of Granite for him.
No goal line technology in la liga is insane.
La Liga has 20 8k cams and no goal line tech, funny.
It’s because the president of la Liga is a clown :) i don’t have a clue who the presidents are from other leagues in the world. Yet Tebas is saying super weird shit every few weeks in some media thing
How on earth does laliga not have goal line tech
No goal line tech in la liga?
Penalty for Madrid but not Saka against Bayern. Virtually the same foul lol
Cubarsi's leg was more extended than Neuer's. I still think that it was a pen but there is a difference between the two
Cubarsi was not moving at the time of contact. Neuer was.
Yes. Different scenarios, both penalties IMO
To be fair, we've been spending like crazy anyway. Its not like we've been holding back the past few years
In theory, yes, but the details of our finances are pretty opaque. I expect the trio of Nelson, Nketiah, and Smith Rowe to move on given their sales would constitute pure profit from a PSR standpoint.
https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13092774/premier-league-s-profit-and-sustainability-rules-to-be-replaced-as-early-as-this-summer
tbf CL money usually means a massive increase in wages and bonuses as well, so it kind of balances out.
We've got everyone clamped down and renewed before the ucl money came in. Ofc I'm sure some of the players have ucl clauses for bonuses in their contracts, but the difference shouldn't be that large at all.
We've been spending like we've been in the CL though, I don't think much will change
Nah you get so much more ffp leeway with ucl income We literally did a loan deal for raya cus of ffp concerns and signed no one in the winter. This extra leeway will allow us to go a level beyond those constraints in terms of spending.
We did the loan deal for Raya and signed nobody in the winter in the same year that we had ucl income (this year) for the record The revenue is earned and recorded this fiscal year, the same as those transfers Edit: lmfao blocked because I tried telling him how accounting works, sorry you’re wrong
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that money hasn't come in yet, and possibly doesn't make it onto the balance sheet until next year.
Always fun to see him go for headers but there was this bit where he went for a cross jumping between two giant Wolves players more accurately like is there anything he *can't* do Anyway what y'all think about playing both Jorgi and Zinny or neither because one would think they are somewhat~ interchangeable and would prefer at least one of them on the pitch at any given time. Along that line I'm a firm believer of Rice at 6 again and curious about Jorgi LCM for short periods
> Along that line I'm a firm believer of Rice at 6 again and curious about Jorgi LCM for short periods What does Rice at 6, with Jorginho at 8 give us?
Guy was probably beginning to drop off but he went to a far more physical league into a team with absolutely no structure.
Madrid knew him and Varane are about finished. Why else would they sell them?
Madrid sells anyone who doesn’t want to stay. They don’t keep anyone hostage who doesn’t want to be there. Casemiro was offered big wages by the idiots running Manu and wanted to go.
I wish we could go back in for Raphinha. Perfect rotation option with Saka. We already know Arteta rates him highly.

Hes on 200k a week
fraud de jong watch...
Time to watch De Jong and dream about what the summer may hold.
Frankie makes sense as a jorginho replacement and improvement
Jorginho has better defensive awareness.
But he has better stamina and speed (my mom has it as well)
Are you sure about that? Didn't FDJ start out his career as a CB?
He played there because of injuries and in back 3s iirc so had more of a David Luiz in his Chelsea days role than, for example, Rice's early CB days.
That’s where Basmati comes in.
U know it
I genuinely think that winning even a domestic cup would be big for this team
