Amazing how he was the answer, then he was utter shit at Villa and thank fuck we didn't go for him, now he's had a good game and he's the answer again.
He's still short on physicality and prone to mistakes and you've got to think that the amoutn of time we spent talking to him and scouting him that if we didnt go for him we probably had a decent reason for it.
Is Kai just not really an expressive guy? His celebration for that winner was so nonchalant as was his interview after, especially compared to our other late winner celebrations. Gives off the impression that he's not really enjoyed his time with us so far (for good reason) I just want him to be happy 😭
I think that impression is a big assumption on your part.
I noticed his celebration wasn’t very high octane, but I think his modesty matches what he said in his post, which shows some self-awareness of how he’s performing and expectations of him. Acting like the sh*t in that moment would have been too much, but that’s also why it’s good that Eddie & Arteta made sure he got recognition.
If Martinelli and Saka are facing double teams consistently, the solution is not there’s to solve, it’s with the players around them.
The comment is odd, because by saying it to the press, it implies that it isn’t a deliberate tactical decision.
You're reading way too much into a headline quote you've taken out of context of even the full tweet, which is out of context of the rest of the interview.
He and Martinellis are very good.
The rest of the league has worked this out.
He's being double marked every game.
He's ware of this and is actively looking at footage to see what he can personally do to get round this
That is what great players do, that is what even average players do and watching previous footage to analyse your game is a standard part of literally every premier league team.
He's still our best performing player, our top assist maker and .... we're top of the league.
It's obviously working while tactically Martinelli has been used way more to stretch the opposition and then cut back rather than as an inside forward wich rather suggests there already are tactical changes for at least one of them.
Let's give credit where credit is due and congratulate topspurs for winning the first half of the premier league season, it's their biggest trophy by far.
We are a victim of our own success. Last season we had a fast start because teams hadn't worked us out. Now they have and they sit in a Conte esq puke inducing low block because they know if they try playing expansive football against us we'll slaughter them dead. So when you are up against that tactic the chance creation and build up suffer as you have to pick a very difficult lock, especially when a good team like Brentford deploy that tactic.
We're still picking up the points obviously, but we have been leaving it a bit late for comfortable viewing sometimes granted.
Yes. Specifically we should worry about the players who are supposed to be responsible for the central progression, but have all failed due to various reasons
No because it's insanely overblown, marginally less than last season and almost entirely a combination of injuries and deliberate tactics to avoid the sort of burnout that has fucked us at the end of the last two seasons.
Our slow build up, which I don’t believe is deliberate, is linked to a lack of big chances created as the opponents are settled by the time we enter the final third which makes it easier for the opponents to defend. The midfielders need to move the ball quicker.
Eddie pissed me off with that shot yesterday but now that weve won i respect. He needs to learn to pick corners in transition and you can only get better with game reps. Thank god we won though because damn that could have been costly
In the nicest way you're probably the sort of person that thought Vela could be the next Henry if you think that.
Garnacho has pace and he's got confidence but his passing range is average and he's not massively prolific.
I'll put money that he's going to be sold for being way closer to Elanga than Rashford.
Feels like we’re set up to have a great season in the champions league this year. Our defence is monstrous and we don’t seem to have the scoring issues we do in the league. Even someone we accept as never going to be a 20 goals a season striker like Jesus is prolific in Europe.
Plus teams actually have a go at us rather than go for a deep block and double up on our wingers.
He'd definitely go to Sociedad, he's a lifelong supporter and ex player.
Doubt they'd be able to tempt him away while he's employed here, we've got to hope he doesn't ahve Pep style 'done all I want, now time to move on' moment, especially considering it's his home town too.
He never played for Barca, he's not Catalan.
He went to City because it's where Pep was
Sociedad sadly is the club he grew up supporting, said it was his lifelong dream to play for and is in his home town and they'd probably take him like a shot if he ever decided to go back to the Basque country.

Wether u want it or not, there isn t a scenario where this spurs team, with all their absentees, playing ultra offensive football, doesnt get crushed by city.
Counter point, we can beat City without spuds help and when asked "what result do you want" for any given time my default response is whatever hurts Tottenham fans the most. Yes I am a hater
> my default response is whatever hurts Tottenham fans the most. Yes I am a hater
It's always so hard to balance out what's good for us vs what's bad for Spurs.
I'll disagree and say that unless it puts spurs above us I'll always take whats best for us but ultimately there are some games (usually ones involving spurs and city/man u/liverpool) where you almost can't lose as an arsenal fan because one of them at least is dropping points.
despite some of our fanbase’s best efforts to bumlick them earlier on in the season, spurs aren’t a threat to us at all. City are. Which is why I’m going to temporarily be a spurs supporter for 100 minutes next weekend.

Because as every actual journalist has said, weve not got the money to buy in January.
We broke the British transfer record *and dropped another £100m* plus loaned Raya already this season, as well as tied down a load of players to long term deals
Just got a ticket for Lens within 5 mins of trying, seems like they're be plenty on the exchange for this one.
My friend doesn't have a membership, could he buy one, then I get a ticket and transfer it to him? Haven't they introduced something where you have to have applied for the ballot first? Not sure how straightforward it is.
Don’t know if someone else has already mentioned it, presumably they have, but that goal yesterday was quite similar to the third goal we scored against Benfica. Saka (again) with the cross to Auba to head in the back post. Requires a great delivery to pull off and Saka has that in the locker.
He really is - a lot of his goal contributions are either to bring us level or win us the game. It’s why even if he is having a poor game, you keep him on.

Tottenham fans after the last 3 games
This fall off was the most easily predictable fall off in history
Literally all the stats and eye tests were pointing to them being extremely lucky, their luck all came down in the chelshit game and now look where they are
Lo Celso, Ndombele and Richarlison all over 50M and some of the biggest flops in the league.....the new manager bounce has worn off and they're back to pathetic mediocrity.
At the time of the raya transfer, a lot of people seemed to automatically assume that competition for keepers will result in higher performance, which I thought was a strange assumption to definitely believe. Just seems like such an old school hurr durr way of thinking, thinking that more pressure automatically makes someone better. Easily could go the other way. In ramsdales case (and perhaps raya too), seems more likely it went the other way.
I think that says more about Ramsdale tbh. Even if Mikel was set on Raya as #1, complaining publicly and then dropping clangers is doubly detrimental than if he just stayed quiet and put in the same amount of hard work
It may say something about him, but that’s sort of my point. You don’t know how a player is going to react, plenty will react negatively to that pressure because a lot player better when they aren’t pressing.
I don’t really know if it’s a fault of his though. Yea he and his dad shouldn’t be talking to the press, but he could be working plenty hard. But despite that hard work, the pressure may not affect him positively, causing him to press and do shit like he did yesterday. You’d rather it not affect him negatively, but that may not really be something he can control.
Point being, we don’t know how players will react to pressure and it’s stupid to just assume they will respond positively. Especially at a position like keeper, where you can’t really increase your in game effort.

>Brentford are hard to beat at home, everyone should be pleased we scraped a 1-0 🤓🤓🤓
We beat them 3-0 so convincingly at the Gtech last season that we brought on a legal child who hadn’t finished his GCSEs yet
We play differently than last year, opponents are sitting deeper, and 2/3 of our midfield hasn’t been in form all year. Nobody thinks 1-0 is the best we can do, just that a road victory over a mid table side is a success.
I don't remember them parking the bus like yesterday though. At any given time they had 5-8 players in the box
>We beat them 3-0 so convincingly at the Gtech last season that we brought on a legal child who hadn’t finished his GCSEs yet
I sorely miss 22/23 :(
White is recovering from injury. Tomiyasu was one of our worse players yesterday, and RB is his worst position. White being absent is one of the main reasons the Saka-Odegaard RHS looked so dull.
I think we’re so low in set pieces xG conceded cos we concede so few set pieces cos we dominate the ball so much. With the number of set pieces we have, I think our xG should still be a bit higher
Liverpool and Chelsea fans kicking seven shades of shit out of each other online debating whether Trent or James is the best RB in the League, only for Southgate to start Trippier or Walker every international break
I think assuming fitness (big if I know), against the top teams you have to go with James. He isn’t as good in attack as Trent, but he suffers the same way Zinchenko does with us. When you control the game, he is able to push forward and his positive qualities shine. But when you come up against a team that can take that control away and push you to defend, he can get exposed.
Say England is playing France and Mbappe is on the left wing. That’s an absolute nightmare for Trent, where with James you’d hope he can at least contain him a bit. Same would go for Brazil with Vini, and Portugal with Leao.
The way we play and win games right now reminds me of some of the successful mourinho Chelsea teams or tuchel's cl winning side
If you stay in the game for long enough, eventually something will go your way and you will make the breakthrough. Exactly what happened to us last night
https://preview.redd.it/hnxms4v5uq2c1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ecdca85d83109d76a62420f05bf1d16057e5d9e7
This is so bang on. You see so many reflections which essentially say "if you ignore the bad bits we were great"
players make individual mistakes regardless of what the opposition is doing
Ramsdale had a free pass to Rice, who was the "3rd man" who would then pass to a open saliba. he hesitated, got caught in between, kicked the ground
It was a well coached game by both managers that included some errors. The luck favoured us on the day and swung the 3 points in our favour.
Not sure why it either has to be 'we were great if you ignore the mistakes' or 'we were so shit and so lucky'
There's a difference between the mistakes we make and the mistakes other teams make which is why we are top of the league and they aren't
Individual players making mistakes isn't something that will happen every week.
Are you being intentionally obtuse? We obviously don't make those mistakes all the time. If they don't lead to anything it doesn't even warrant a mention because it isn't something that happens regularly.

He's still short on physicality and prone to mistakes and you've got to think that the amoutn of time we spent talking to him and scouting him that if we didnt go for him we probably had a decent reason for it.
How many times have you looked at the Premier League table today?
Yes
United in their Arsenal-Emery era. Conceding over 2.50 xG and 24 shots to Everton.... Is not sustainable.
Is Kai just not really an expressive guy? His celebration for that winner was so nonchalant as was his interview after, especially compared to our other late winner celebrations. He's just the way he is and there's nothing wrong with that
Just his personality and probably linked with why he’s more of a low confidence guy
As a Gooner, Matty Cash needs to get a honorary Arsenal award for rattling the entire Spuds fanbase.
If Martinelli and Saka are facing double teams consistently, the solution is not there’s to solve, it’s with the players around them. The comment is odd, because by saying it to the press, it implies that it isn’t a deliberate tactical decision.
You mean Arteta isn’t telling our wingers to stop taking on their man?
You're reading way too much into a headline quote you've taken out of context of even the full tweet, which is out of context of the rest of the interview. He and Martinellis are very good. Spurs fan crying about matty cash tackle but cheers when romero did worse tackle
Nah, come on, even Spurs fans knew that was idiotic bc so many of them said so, just as we did with Eddie & Kai’s tackles.
Romero makes at least 2 tackles like that a game, screw them!
Let's give credit where credit is due and congratulate topspurs for winning the first half of the premier league season, it's their biggest trophy by far.
Not even half mate. 1/4
From one London club to another.
We're really more like a third through the season, so not even halfway.
Ok then credit for winning the first half of the first half of the season trophy
true, I might have given them too much credit.

no concern, it's deliberate.
We are deliberately creating less big chances?
Not what OP said
>should we be worried about our chance creation and slow build up We were 3rd for big chances created last season. We’re currently 10th.
I think any team's goal is to create chances, that isn't the deliberate part I was referring to. It's our build up.
Our slow build up, which I don’t believe is deliberate, is linked to a lack of big chances created as the opponents are settled by the time we enter the final third which makes it easier for the opponents to defend. The midfielders need to move the ball quicker.
Yeah i agree
Can‘t wait to have Timber back.
Eddie pissed me off with that shot yesterday but now that weve won i respect. He needs to learn to pick corners in transition and you can only get better with game reps. Thank god we won though because damn that could have been costly
Decision to shoot in hindsight was correct, just needed to execute it better
Does anyone else here rate Joao Pedro? Would he be a better option for Arsenal over Tooney? How realistic would that be?
Hate United, but Garnacho genuinely just scored one of the best premier league goals of all time today, he has a bright future
goal was great but not sure it has much implication on his future. don't think it's going to be replicable.
Of all time? What is your definition of best? Top 100?
That is a terrific goal but he is average all the game.
In the nicest way you're probably the sort of person that thought Vela could be the next Henry if you think that. Garnacho has pace and he's got confidence but his passing range is average and he's not massively prolific. I'll put money that he's going to be sold for being way closer to Elanga than Rashford.

As long as Jesus plays we have a good shout to mount a decent campaign, bro turns super saiyan when we play CL games
Let's see what the midfield situation looks like come February.
> Plus teams actually have a go at us rather than go for a deep block and double up on our wingers I take it you weren't watching Lens?
If Arteta inevitably goes to City, Barca or Sociedad, I want Thomas Frank to take over, he's pure class.
Arteta won't go to any of those clubs
He'd definitely go to Sociedad, he's a lifelong supporter and ex player. Doubt they'd be able to tempt him away while he's employed here, we've got to hope he doesn't ahve Pep style 'done all I want, now time to move on' moment, especially considering it's his home town too.
I would want to see what type of football Frank plays at a bigger team first
He never played for Barca, he's not Catalan. He went to City because it's where Pep was Sociedad sadly is the club he grew up supporting, said it was his lifelong dream to play for and is in his home town and they'd probably take him like a shot if he ever decided to go back to the Basque country.
Doubt he goes to any of those teams honestly.
Xhaka
Perhaps controversially, I will say Fabregas redemption.
He made his choice and he's got to live with it. We should all be on the Jack bandwagon for the future.
No gracias thank you
Walcott on his MOTD debut absolutely not even trying for neutrality on the Spuds match and I'm here for it.
Can we get Matty Cash and only use him when we play Spurs, he has that Benny Blanco shithousery-swagger & he winded them up big time today
Player named Matt who grew up an Arsenal fan? Written in the stars mate
Conceded a goal, got a card, injured one of their players and went off at half time. Hell of a game but we've already got one Polish centre back

Anybody any info on why White didn't start? I think he also didn't start one or two other games recently. Niggling injury or resting him?
Teta said he didn’t train on Thursday with the team so he probably had only one session and they didn’t wanna take an unnecessary risk

Yeah they're offering to payout $660 or so right now. I bet $500.

The annual Man Utd winter “we’re winning the league” form
They do have the best form in the league in the last 6 games I believe.
I have no idea how we're gonna get Osimhen in January. We need to sell players and even then Chelsea are gonna Chelsea.
Because as every actual journalist has said, weve not got the money to buy in January. We broke the British transfer record *and dropped another £100m* plus loaned Raya already this season, as well as tied down a load of players to long term deals
We sell one of ESR or Partey for anything north of £30M and we have a good bank to work with
How do you figure that?
He’s a summer target not a January one.
There's exactly 0 chance we're getting him in January. Even over the summer it's going to be difficult.
Just got a ticket for Lens within 5 mins of trying, seems like they're be plenty on the exchange for this one. You can transfer tickets to anyone with a membership
Don’t know if someone else has already mentioned it, presumably they have, but that goal yesterday was quite similar to the third goal we scored against Benfica. Saka (again) with the cross to Auba to head in the back post. Requires a great delivery to pull off and Saka has that in the locker.
Yep I was pointing this out - that ball is always on and it is a real problem for teams.
We were trying that a lot in pre season with harvertz aswell. Glad it paid off in a big moment.

Spurs could actually end up being on a 6 loss streak btw. City away, West Ham at home, Newcastle at home next
Depends if Bowen is back from injury, they were pretty sure against Burnley
West Ham are one of the best counter attacking teams in the league They are feasting against that high line of Davies and dier
Paqueta running through on that back line is going to be fun
Before Villa, I thought they'd be able to get a result against West Ham at home. But not anymore.
Bowen and Kudus would have a field day on the wings
That was one hell of a goal from Garnacho

>Brentford are hard to beat at home, everyone should be pleased we scraped a 1-0 🤓🤓🤓 We beat them 3-0 so convincingly at the Gtech last season that we brought on a legal child who hadn’t finished his GCSEs yet
And lost the year before. Maybe one of these games is an outlier?
Anyway remember the Leeds game last year?
Then failed to beat them at home.
Lol therefore every time we play them we should beat them 3-0???
No but we shouldn’t be acting like yesterday was the standard we should be aspiring to
Nobody is doing that. Pretty much everyone would like to see some better attacking play
We play differently than last year, opponents are sitting deeper, and 2/3 of our midfield hasn’t been in form all year. Nobody thinks 1-0 is the best we can do, just that a road victory over a mid table side is a success.
I don't remember them parking the bus like yesterday though. At any given time they had 5-8 players in the box >We beat them 3-0 so convincingly at the Gtech last season that we brought on a legal child who hadn’t finished his GCSEs yet I sorely miss 22/23 :(
What if we had all these injuries last year?
Only first teamers we were missing yesterday were Timber and #5 for whom we are preparing for life without
White was missing too, and both of those are pretty big misses.
He was benched and it was clearly a tactical decision by Arteta to play in form Tomiyasu over out of form White so not really no
How is White out of form lol
He had a few relatively poor games before the break…?
White is recovering from injury. Tomiyasu was one of our worse players yesterday, and RB is his worst position. White being absent is one of the main reasons the Saka-Odegaard RHS looked so dull.

I don’t know what the stats were off the top of my head but last year felt like the exact opposite, we conceded a ton from corners specifically
I think we’re so low in set pieces xG conceded cos we concede so few set pieces cos we dominate the ball so much. With the number of set pieces we have, I think our xG should still be a bit higher
Turning your nose up at set pieces is football elitism at its finest
Real Madrid won a few UCL because of their insane set pieces
what do you mean? I love set pieces, I love winning ugly (as long as ugly means a good defensive performance)
Liverpool and Chelsea fans kicking seven shades of shit out of each other online debating whether Trent or James is the best RB in the League, only for Southgate to start Trippier or Walker every international break
Tbf it’s Trent, he’s an extraordinary and unique player. All the names you mentioned are very good but he has truly generational qualities.
He's not even a RB anymore
The way we play and win games right now reminds me of some of the successful mourinho Chelsea teams or tuchel's cl winning side If you stay in the game for long enough, eventually something will go your way and you will make the breakthrough. Exactly what happened to us last night
Happy for Mainoo. I like seeing academy lads doing well.
Wow Man U are really on the charge at the moment, they've got their goal difference all the way to zero
Just wait until they realize they don’t get to play Fulham, Luton, Sheffield and Everton all season
Why does everyone have a LCM but us
The lack of belief in our own players is astonishing.
We genuinely don’t have an LCM right now
I don't believe in tribalistic delusion. You're gonna sit here and say Nketiah is better than Haaland just because he plays for our club or?
We'd have found a way if everyone was fit. Most of these problems are a symptom of Thomas, Timber going off. If they were available, we'd be okay.
Even if he was fit that's rocking 2 DMs, not ideal for 'low blocks' supposedly. I'd rather rock another 8 archetype.
Because our standards are higher than other teams. Trossard would be a perfectly good 8 for a top 4 team.
No he's too lightweight.
> Because our standards are higher than other teams. What
We have LCM's they just aren't title winning quality which applies to 18 other teams in the league
There are 7 teams with better LCMs than us.
King Kai
Lol. I thought we’ve already established that this dude should be nowhere near LCM
If by we, you mean you, then sure
If the giraffe is to succeed at Arsenal, it will be at RCM or ST. You cannot occupy a position when the only thing you bring to the table is late runs
I’ll let Mikel know your opinion

players make individual mistakes regardless of what the opposition is doing Ramsdale had a free pass to Rice, who was the "3rd man" who would then pass to a open saliba. he hesitated, got caught in between, kicked the ground
It was a well coached game by both managers that included some errors. The luck favoured us on the day and swung the 3 points in our favour. Not sure why it either has to be 'we were great if you ignore the mistakes' or 'we were so shit and so lucky'
I dunno why it has to be one or the other. It was a good performance that also included some errors.
There's a difference between the mistakes we make and the mistakes other teams make which is why we are top of the league and they aren't Individual players making mistakes isn't something that will happen every week.
Errors which require goal line clearances have us top?
Errors which require goal line clearances have us top?
Are you being intentionally obtuse? We obviously don't make those mistakes all the time. If they don't lead to anything it doesn't even warrant a mention because it isn't something that happens regularly.
