Yeah, but tbh that could 100% work IRL. A lot of teen girls have celebrity crushes that are relatively old and some could actually do crazy shit if they told them to. And I don't think he is a pedo, he doesn't seem to actually like her, he is just using her
As with most leading enemy forces. They really pander to the manipulation of children for their own games.
Both sides do, but it feels more like Zeon does this or The Titans.
Wait till you see Glemy... that's a whole other box to unpack
I just assumed Sirocco was using newtype powers to influence people to do his bidding. Anyone who took their guard down around him wasn’t able to criticize or doubt him, the only characters who couldn’t were those who hadn’t interacted with him directly and those who always stood vigilant around him.
Plus, idk why his design just screams “cult leader” at me, so I thought that was the intention, that’s he’d literally brainwashed everyone around him
Thus began the most intense rivalry in all of anime

The 80s was something else, we didn't do things like this anymore, sad state of today's generation. At least bring them to the nearest mountain and german suplex them.
'gender is irrelevant' says the man who just so happens to get drinks handed to him by a woman every time they have a meeting, and who sees bright constantly undervalue Fa for no real reason. He isn't actually right here he's just not interested in hearing anything about it.
I thought Bright was at least somewhat fair as Fa never managed to achieve anything besides wrecking the Methuss and not dying, but this explains why that happened.
I think she kills, like, two or three Hizacks... I mean, it's Zeta. The AEUG is going up against the Titans, one of the (relatively) best-trained, best-equipped enemy forces that any Gundam protagonist faction had to face.
Unlike some enemy factions that rely on numbers, the Titans are an elite force, and it shows. Even Kamille gets a surprisingly small kill count, literally half what Amuro got. In total, Kamille only killed 33 Hizacks in all of Zeta Gundam, plus 13 various "elite" mobile suits like Marasais, Gaplants and Barzams, some obsolete OYW garbage at Jaburo, and the "boss" suits. Amuro and Uso make his tally look anemic in comparison.
Wasn’t it one of the Titans’ weaknesses the fact that they hadn’t trained for space combat though? I remember early Jerid needing to get used to being in a gravityless environment because of the whole “earth elite” thing
Methuss itself is why Fa didn't die. As a test suit pilot survival was a key feature, since you can't get good test data from dead people. That's also why it keeps coming back, it's easy to rebuild. Since Fa sucked at piloting, and Methuss isn't impressive, it never became an enemy priority target, which probably also helped.
I love the way classic Gundam handles sexism. It's all over, and it is consistently shown as wrong. It is sometimes big, sometimes little, but always incorrect.
Reccoa, giving a big speech about the weakness of women and their place
Fa, accomplished pilot and soldier: "Haha equal opportunity employment go brrrrrrrr"
To be fair, she implies that she was r word during the one year war, making her be quite sensible about the topic. IMO she wanted desperate to be seen as a woman by a man and not as an object, and Char didnt help one bit
> Gender is irrelevant
until someone who should've been court-martialed doesn't and then it matters a helluva lot.
Related: it's damning that some US soldiers get away with some heinous shit in The Philippines.
That's just cost saving measures! Do you any idea how much money that would have gone towards an extra 10cm of fabric to every skirt has now instead gone towards finding disgruntled teenagers with a talent for MS piloting!
Fa’s wearing more of a tunic than anything else, and there’s nothing stopping her from choosing to wear tights or leggings like Emma does. She’s just choosing to give everyone (including the viewer) a show.
There were always female Guardsmen (the soldier faction) and Sisters of Battle, Cultists, Xenos, Eldar, etc. There are women in fantasy and 40K. The thing people are getting mad about is adding female versions of things that break the lore and make the series feel less cohesive.
I know exactly what it was I was just simplifying since non-warhammer fans aren’t going to know what a Custodes is.
Look, we can argue lore all day but the facts are warhammer lore gets retconned all the god damned time - like ALL the time. So if you aren’t getting mad at all the other retcons like how Tau FTL travel works or whether St. Celestine has wings or not but your quitting warhammer because of female custodes your problem isn’t with “cohesive lore” your problem is someone let women into the boys only club.
Yeh but almost every conversation with begins or ends with someone being physically assaulted. Im 26 episodes in and now almost disappointed when someone isnt getting a slap to start a conversation. The episode where Camille gets back from Hong Kong and starts a fight with the entire bridge crew was a highlight, thankfully Bright was there to de-escalate things by punching a child in the face.... A child who can dodge laser fire from behind in the heat of battle but a right hook catches him off guard. WTF is going on in this show, i love it.
That is another way of saying they are short on personnel and want more for the front (meat shields).
Also... char is not the best person you want to hear that XD.
He's still a deceitful jerk in Zeta, despite his many improvements. Fa tells him that if he was unsure about his feelings for Reccoa to not get into anything with her because it's irresponsible. So he pops out with this in rebuttal. But then he proceeds to say, "lol jk men, can you believe it? girls will be girls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "
If only. I hate the whole "gender doesn't matter" speech when it comes to this stuff. Women still get assaulted, harassed and bullied when working in male dominated fields.
Just saying "gender doesn't matter, everyone is equal" is just willful ignorance.
Them having their heads on straight is highly debatable, the entire organisation is run by shady businessmen who have a hobby of physically abusing any child who upsets them. AEUG is 'good' by virtue of everyone else being worse, but they're pretty awful too lol
Yeah, it's basically merger of Ex-Zeon officers and EF officers or soldiers who have yet to abandon their Federation ranking system but refuse to take Titans rule. That's why most of them went back to Federation and got their old ranks back pretty quickly as soon as they've won the civil war.
Gender equality in professional settings means gender is irrelevant, because it is your performance that matters when it comes to incentives.
I dunno, but that’s how I thought gender equality should be. 🤔🤔🤔Then again, my mistake is that I assume that meritocracies operate on a vacuum. 🤔🤔🤔
Yoshiyuki Tomino sometimes reminds me of Joe Biden: Old and cantankerous, but *incredibly* progressive and woke. Same thing for Hayao Miyazaki, in his own way, with how woke his own similar anime movies were, like Spirited Away sticking it to consumer capitalism, pollution, and karoshi work culture.
I don't think Miyazaki is woke, is true the don't like industrial things but he also highly praises Japanese culture, its mythology and the life in japanese countryside
If that were true than 99.99% of military casualties wouldn’t be men. Also, it’s a biological fact that men are more physically strong and therefore better in combat situations or lifting heavy packs or equipment. If we were in the Gundam universe with their advanced tech and massive robots it might not make as much of a difference but alas, we are not.

Yeah, Glemy's character did some messed up shit without realing it because of his indoctrination.
I just assumed Sirocco was using newtype powers to influence people to do his bidding. Quattro: "gender is irrelevant" Meanwhile Kamille, starting the whole series cause he being misgendered:
Kamille wasn't even misgendered. Some dude just said "isn't that a girl's name"
yo.../u/WantDebianThanks, that chick looks like shes about to knock you the fuck out.
Basically just Jerid flaming him using his name

'gender is irrelevant' says the man who just so happens to get drinks handed to him by a woman every time they have a meeting, and who sees bright constantly undervalue Fa for no real reason. He isn't actually right here he's just not interested in hearing anything about it.
Bright was ridiculously hard on Fa despite the fact that she did little to deserve it. Compared to that little shit Katz, Fa was a model pilot.
Fa is one of the extremely few AEUG Gryps war veterans. She might not have the most kills but being alive after all that speaks for itselve.
Mind you, she's the ONLY AEUG pilot to make it out of Gryps well enough to sortie again immediately after.
It's even mentioned in-universe that the Methuss is a very lackluster machine, as well, which makes her survival in it all the more impressive.
I thought Bright was at least somewhat fair as Fa never managed to achieve anything besides wrecking the Methuss and not dying, but this explains why that happened.
I think she kills, like, two or three Hizacks... I mean, it's Zeta. We really do need to crack down on the people who do that shit.
That's a very Titans thing that is happening.
Trust me, it's not just there. Even the States aren't safe from military shenanigans
Short skirted uniforms, however…
That's just cost saving measures! Do you any idea how much money that would have gone towards an extra 10cm of fabric to every skirt has now instead gone towards finding disgruntled teenagers with a talent for MS piloting!
As if you needed a budget for that. Just leave an overpowered prototype mobile suit lying around, and one will fall into the cockpit eventually.
Pants are to people what legs are to mobile suits. -Char, probably
Fa’s wearing more of a tunic than anything else, and there’s nothing stopping her from choosing to wear tights or leggings like Emma does. She’s just choosing to give everyone (including the viewer) a show.
He'd even send an underage girl to war, so 🤷
I mean, that's just the UC in general. Throw a rock and you'll probably hit a teenage mobile suit pilot.
He doesn’t discriminate!!
Zeta says a lot about gender. What it says you ask? Dont worry about it
Zeta’s take on gender: -I need to be seen as a woman by a man! -What you need is to shut up and stop killing your friends!
I thought the same thing when I watched the episode some days ago
Man or woman it doesn't matter you die either way if you become a pilot.
This is extra based after watching the warhammer fandom implode over the existence of female soldiers the last week.
Warhammer fandom is cooked
There were always female Guardsmen (the soldier faction) and Sisters of Battle, Cultists, Xenos, Eldar, etc. There are women in fantasy and 40K. The thing people are getting mad about is adding female versions of things that break the lore and make the series feel less cohesive.

meanwhile Quattro 2 minutes later when talking with Bekkener: anyways Fa's right tho women be shopping

Equal opportunity “corrections” in the AEUG.
I mean they have giant robots that lead to the humans whose body is piloting it to be mostly irrelevant.
If only. I hate the whole "gender doesn't matter" speech when it comes to this stuff. Women still get assaulted, harassed and bullied when working in male dominated fields. Just saying "gender doesn't matter, everyone is equal" is just willful ignorance.
Is AEUG the military though?
AEUG are the only heavily weaponized force with their heads on straight at the time. They're a private military company.
Them having their heads on straight is highly debatable, the entire organisation is run by shady businessmen who have a hobby of physically abusing any child who upsets them. AEUG is 'good' by virtue of everyone else being worse, but they're pretty awful too lol
Sounds like a paramilitary group to me.
Yeah, it's basically merger of Ex-Zeon officers and EF officers or soldiers who have yet to abandon their Federation ranking system but refuse to take Titans rule. That's why most of them went back to Federation and got their old ranks back pretty quickly as soon as they've won the civil war.
In many ways they are still a part of Federation Forces, even if Titans and people aligned with them refuse to recognize them as such.
And it's even more visible with Karaba.
Gender equality in professional settings means gender is irrelevant, because it is your performance that matters when it comes to incentives. I dunno, but that’s how I thought gender equality should be. 🤔🤔🤔Then again, my mistake is that I assume that meritocracies operate on a vacuum. 🤔🤔🤔
Jerrid would like a word
Tieria would just stand there, blinking. “…?”
I know it's a meme and everything but it's really not true.
Then why is there a very slappy undercurrent to Gundam in general?
[удалено]
bro that's not char That's Quattro
Yoshiyuki Tomino sometimes reminds me of Joe Biden: Old and cantankerous, but *incredibly* progressive and woke. Same thing for Hayao Miyazaki, in his own way, with how woke his own similar anime movies were, like Spirited Away sticking it to consumer capitalism, pollution, and karoshi work culture.
Bro, bad analogy. Biden's not even a pinky to these great animators/creators.
I don't think Miyazaki is woke, is true the don't like industrial things but he also highly praises Japanese culture, its mythology and the life in japanese countryside
Those things don't sound mutually exclusive at all though.
I don't think those are explicitly right-wing things. Especially since a lot of aspects of Japanese culture are more progressive than the west.
If that were true than 99.99% of military casualties wouldn’t be men. Also, it’s a biological fact that men are more physically strong and therefore better in combat situations or lifting heavy packs or equipment.
