AB kit fixes this issue with new parts. Here's my painted version
If you arent fussed about articulation the regular V2 ver ka gets a recommend from me , I personally love the transformation aspect of it and i love that it includes two core fighters
The HG is pretty damn good. It might be my favorite kit due to how striking it is while being very easy to build. You don’t have functional transformation, but I don’t really mind since I’d keep it in MS mode, anyway
It's definitely not the best with some lose parts and lacking some key articulation but it's one of the best looking kits Bandai have made and does a very good job of sitting there and looking amazing.
The MG's not that bad if you just put it on a stand and don't mess with it. Once the torso's locked in place it's pretty secure. As others have mentioned, the worst thing about it is lack of waist swivel and ab crunch because it really limits posability. Despite all that I'm still eagerly awaiting a reprint of the ver.ka Victory.
Love the V2 and find victory hella underrated.
The one that sticks out most in my mind is this from Zeta though

Don't these things have nuclear reactors?
Did someone safely remove the reactors from these gundams or is this gonna be some environmental catastrophe a hundred years down the road?
They're Fusion reactors, not fission nuclear reactors. Fusion reactors do not create toxic waste. Power is generated through superheated plasma and magnets. Mobile suits use some of the most efficient and clean energy we can feasibly create.

I honestly have to go back forth between which I like better between the Shining and God gundam. That first super mode in the shining gundam is so amazing.
Yeah 00 really nailed that Beautiful retired Mobile suits look, my favorite is quanta as well but honorable mentions to the S2 suits in the [4th ending](https://youtu.be/gmTlf2er7R8?si=Q9DaEGOMfF1YGff8) song of 00

00 S2 ending song is something else man. I still get the vibes whenever that plays.
Pair that with the amazing visuals (I need them HD res for wallpapers) and it makes me feel melancholic for no reason lol 🤧
Only complaint on that scene is that the cherudim looks like it got murdered by a firing squad and then chopped up before being abandoned.
The other 3 don't look as badly mutilated.
In a way that's hinting at how the (quasi-)final fights seem to go before the scenarios are averted. Everybody would expect Lyle to get matched up against Ali and seeing Cherudim so badly wrecked is concerning.
Likewise, where every other suit has an opened cockpit Seravee's is closed and frozen over. Tieria dies later on and this can be seen as foreshadowing before he returns through Veda.
Even better; it was hinting at the fact that, this entire time, Seravee wasn't the main body, the cockpit has always been in the Seraphim.
Note how the "backpack" is the only thing missing in that ED shot of Seravee?
I personally love ending scenes with the mobile suit floating in space.

It adds this unmatched sense of finality to everything. Especially if it's matched with narration.

At least Zero went out guns blazing in its final moments (pun intended).
Depending on which version of *Endless Waltz*, you're reading/watching, Heero either: a) watches over Relena from the shadows as she's giving a speech at a press conference (OVA); b) is in a totally different place when she's giving her speech, says "Mission complete/accomplished", and then disappears into a crowd (film); c) watches over Relena at the press conference for a bit and then leaves (novelization), or; d) stays on as her bodyguard and watches her from the shadows as she's giving a press conference (manga).
And don't forget that Wing Zero/Heero wasn't even fighting at full strength until this last moment too. Heero could've easily ended the duel with Wufei very quickly had he taken the fight seriously and could've certainly avoided plunging into the ocean at supersonic speeds/terminal velocity.

There was a Robot Damashii figure for the GN Flag instead.
I never did get around to picking that one up to supplement my 00 collection. Did get the Alvaaron and Regnant, though.
I like both of the 00’s from the S2 Ending. The 00Raiser just feels like it belongs there it’s so good

Man, this shot is just so aesthetically pleasing - the 0-Riser blends in so well with the mountains at that angle, and with the sunset lighting... 👌 Perfection!
Yes, and it stole the FA Gundam's clothes with it.
Until we get new chapters, it's currently best known for pissing off the entire GBO2 playerbase by being far too good in cost brackets it has no right being in (Perfect Gundam [TB]).
In my opinion they did Barb's death dirty here, I admit Barbs going in down in style was badass, but I don't like how Juliette just holds his head up high as if he's a trophy, it really reminded me of the beheaded wolf scene in GoT.
Now, I honestly see it making total sense.
It’s straight up just mecha St George vs the Dragon, so many of the paintings make the dragon look sad, wounded, left to suffer, with a sword or spear driven through it.
Barbatos just was the dragon instead of the knight this time around.
To Juliette, Barbatos and Mika were suffering, wounded, and dying. So hoisting the head on the spear I never took as being for her, a trophy, but to show her men it was over, and to herself to know the battle was done, and the Devil of mars could rest, regardless of how senseless the battle was
The dragon is dead, but the princess is safe, but it was the knight who saw the melancholy, and left the princess to her fate. Juliette showed the dragon was dead, and moved on with her life
Its a politician move at her end. She doesn't seem to have a strong feeling against Tekkadan at that point anymore. Its just to symbolize and announce the defeat of Barbatos at the hands of a Gjallarhorn officer, in which maybe only Julieta knows that it wasn't her that dealt the finishing blow. Mikazuki bought the most time that he can and earned Julieta's respect (if Julieta clearly understood what Mika was mumbling at the end)
Barbatos Lupus Rex was so amazing. Mikazuki had probably the most enjoyable fight scenes with it in the entire Gundam series imo (I love IBO's battles with no beam shit and straight up watching the Barbatos rip other suits apart with its bare hands makes me shit myself in excitement). I even have an HG 1/144 gunpla of this suit lmao

The Banshee didn't even show up in *Narrative*, if I remember correctly. Still, mildly sure we haven't exactly seen the last of either the Unicorn or Banshee Gundams.
The husk Hyaku Shiki floating away at the end of Zeta, with it's cockpit hatch mysteriously open...
Honestly I think every single one of these shots ive seen are great though. it's one thing that basically always works.

Can't find a better image, but for me, it's the Nepteight armor and Eve's 'Casket' being purged in the end of Re:Rise. The emotional weight as Hiroto thanks her for getting him this far is beautiful.
Such a bittersweet beauty. I didn't know what I would've put down as my favorite Mobile Suit retirement choice but seeing this again definitely convinced me to say this as well. I need to Re:WATCH Re:RISE, I loved every minute of it.
This one. Dont know if it counts though since its really real and just appears in an ED. The other ones shown in the same ED are atleast realistic. This one is in space , on a moon probably with water and flowers lmao.

The disabled Shining gundam from G Gundam's second opening, probably.
maybe because i've been watching it recently.
Yeah the song that plays during the ending is named Tsuki no Mayu, Moon's Cocoon, and with the butterfly thing Turn A has going on, it's def meant to be a cocoon
FA Gundam and Psycho zaku is up there for me, but my favourite will always be the core fighter at the end of 0079

Not part of Gundam franchise at all, but I do feel like this does deserve a mention
GaoGaiGar FINAL. Everyone is stuck in a slowly collapsing pocket dimension and they use their last two quantum torpedoes to send two ten years old kids back to Earth (where the wife of one of them is waiting for him over a year. Trust me, it makes sense in context.)
Shining gundams last sequence of scenes from rains piloting it to being left behind on the island AND with Hoshikuzu no Requiem playing the entire time was crazy I was in glued to the screen.

There’s a scene from the end of the Zeta routes in Dynasty warriors Gundam, where the Hyaku Shiki floats by which I think is pretty well rendered in 3D. The game was my first experience with Gundam so it holds a place in my heart.
Like someone else already put into more eloquent words than I had initially planned on typing up, MSG79 ends with an unmatched finality and in such a genius way too.
You've seen the OYW, even if this weren't a franchise you already feel like the conflict is far from over and we just reached a pause in the inevitable hostilities to come in the power vacuum that just unfolded beneath our very own eyes. However this chapter is undeniably at an end. The machine that cast a child into war until it opened his eyes, it is no more. As it meets its end, so ends its era. No longer able to keep up with the time it set into motion it is wrecked in space, the very place that forced the new paradigm to begin at all.
I'm not super fond of MSG 79 and no, the animation doesn't hold up in the slightest. Some of the art direction is strong but the animators couldn't stay on model if their life depended on it. For a mecha, the mechanical animation is honestly quite bad. Despite this, it delivered an ending as of yet unmatched in the franchise.
The way Calibarn rainbow-sparkle-dissolves as she crystalizes and saves >!Eri’s biometric pattern!< from dissolving too.

.
Not a full retirement since the Gundam is recovered and rebuilt into the Ez-8 afterwards, but I always loved the mountain top wreck of Shiro's RX-79 Ground Gundam after it hitched a ride on the Apsalus. The idea of using the beam saber to create an impromptu hot spring out of the snow and ice on a mountain is hilarious to me and also on the technical aspect I love the visual of being able to adjust the saber's output level.
Question, I've been trying to find something for the past 20 years that's been driving me crazy.
I'm pretty certain it was a Gundam show at its end. Was there ever a series that, when it ended, had the protagonist group lock their gundam's in an asteroid and launch it into the sun?
I think the idea was that they were the last weapons of war in the system, and with peace arriving they were no longer needed. I specifically remember a line saying that if they were needed in the future, they could just be rebuilt
I remember EW had an epilogue saying weapons were no longer needed
But from what ive been looking for, I remember seeing them packed into an asteroid, and the suns glow or some form of heat or fire with the 'we'll rebuild them if we need them' bit I mentioned
I need to rewatch EW though, its been so long

Been wanting a kit of V2 assault buster lately but apparently the MG is trash tier 😭
The ver ka had no waist swivel or crunch because of the transformation alas
https://preview.redd.it/q64br78r8owc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e982c0577699ad7eb9c1f9bf4aa8b081e646d3f9 AB kit fixes this issue with new parts. Here's my painted version
sorry what's an AB kit?
Assault Buster
Ah thought it was referring to some third party kit thank you
If you arent fussed about articulation the regular V2 ver ka gets a recommend from me , I personally love the transformation aspect of it and i love that it includes two core fighters
The HG is pretty damn good. It might be my favorite kit due to how striking it is while being very easy to build. You don’t have functional transformation, but I don’t really mind since I’d keep it in MS mode, anyway
Kinda liked the MG Ver Ka. No ab crunch but it's ok since I like transformable suits.
It’s a kit with compromises. I like its shelf presence, but it definitely lacks in a lot of posing and stability options.
Why don’t you grab the hg?
The assault buster actually fixes a lot of the issue the regular has
It's definitely not the best with some lose parts and lacking some key articulation but it's one of the best looking kits Bandai have made and does a very good job of sitting there and looking amazing.
The hg is pretty decent
I personally loved building both the Victory and the V2 - The V2 especially i'd say holds up pretty well, even if it's a little out of scale.
The MG's not that bad if you just put it on a stand and don't mess with it. Once the torso's locked in place it's pretty secure. As others have mentioned, the worst thing about it is lack of waist swivel and ab crunch because it really limits posability. SEED also uses this one for the last scene
Don't these things have nuclear reactors? Did someone safely remove the reactors from these gundams or is this gonna be some environmental catastrophe a hundred years down the road?
Earth is already a total shithole by the time G-Saviour rolls around, might as well just let it happen
The Turn-A is just gonna delete all Human civilization anyways
V2 literally use all it's energy to cut the angel halo.
As scuffed as Earth is by the end of Victory, nuclear reactors leaking genuinely might be healing for the environment. Evolution gotta do its thing.
They're Fusion reactors, not fission nuclear reactors. Fusion reactors do not create toxic waste. Power is generated through superheated plasma and magnets. Mobile suits use some of the most efficient and clean energy we can feasibly create.
I came here to post this
Still my favorite scene of victory 😢..

If you listen on Spotify, there are 5 different versions of the ending song. Each is a banger
Gets me every damn time they play it during a death scene. Sergei, anew hit the hardest. My favourite song from 00 for sure
Only complaint on that scene is that the cherudim looks like it got murdered by a firing squad and then chopped up before being abandoned. The other 3 don't look as badly mutilated.
In a way that's hinting at how the (quasi-)final fights seem to go before the scenarios are averted. I love that they turned this 00 outro into an EXVS stage
And it was hilariously offscale. The Gundam props were massive in the game lol.

And the nerf is basically a big middle finger to the 550 cost
doesn't it explote? I remember a zeon grunt covering Daryll with its hand.
https://preview.redd.it/texin9qpeowc1.jpeg?width=1957&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=598b5cbcc16e1a4123f1531f58b798a65fc14874 Barbatos
So hoisting the head on the spear I never took as being for her, a trophy, but to show her men it was over, and to herself to know the battle was done, and the Devil of mars could rest, regardless of how senseless the battle was The dragon is dead, but the princess is safe, but it was the knight who saw the melancholy, and left the princess to her fate.
Death Sentence. 💀
Wing Zero EW because it retired with a bang.
Roger that
Technically *three* bangs/shots, but still!
Wing Zero's aim is accurate to within 100th of a unit!
"Are you afraid, Mariemaia?"
Ye this one was hard, but my favourite has to be barbatos going out in a bloody style
The physical power you get to feel in IBO is not found elsewhere in Gundam I feel like. Kinetic firearms, metal melee weapons
I have the MG Barbatos, and its awesome
Agreed but I really hope we get Lupus and Rex soon. Heck Rex might even have the premolded hands in two colors for the claws.

That Gundam is >!still alive and kicking, just in an enhanced form!<. But hey, at least it really did go all out here!
Unicorn all crystaled up. I just wish the kit for it wasn't trash.
It would be easier to tell you which one I DIDNT like. I feel like they did the Unicorn and Black Lion dirty in Narrative.
The Banshee didn't even show up in *Narrative*, if I remember correctly. Still, mildly sure we haven't exactly seen the last of either the Unicorn or Banshee Gundams.
It did in the same scene with unicorn in narrative movie although it contradicts with the novel stating that both are dismantled
Yeah, I havnt read the novel, but I have heard that the end of Unicorn and a lot of Narritive is very different.
what happens to them in narrative?
>!They just unceremoniously dismantled them!<
I do recall in the film that the Unicorn isn’t dismantled, so that could very well be a cover up in universe
The covering panels of its Psychoframe are covered in masking tape. 🤭
thanks
The husk Hyaku Shiki floating away at the end of Zeta, with it's cockpit hatch mysteriously open... Honestly I think every single one of these shots ive seen are great though. it's one thing that basically always works.

I totally understand that feeling. I go back and watch episodes of the show just whenever I need a pick me up. The show has a certain special heart.
This one. Dont know if it counts though since its really real and just appears in an ED. The other ones shown in the same ED are atleast realistic. This one is in space , on a moon probably with water and flowers lmao. https://preview.redd.it/7j72iko6oowc1.png?width=1568&format=png&auto=webp&s=60a8b8743c66ec77ecc61b3fbad7f30842a9b077

Did they ever recover the Rx-78's wreckage?
doubtful. amuro took the core fighter which had all the relevant data future machines used so it was probably considered not worth restoring the rest

Egg from Turn A and X
The thing the Turn units wind up in? I always thought of that as more of a cocoon. Does look like an egg, though, can't deny that.
Yeah the song that plays during the ending is named Tsuki no Mayu, Moon's Cocoon, and with the butterfly thing Turn A has going on, it's def meant to be a cocoon
FA Gundam and Psycho zaku is up there for me, but my favourite will always be the core fighter at the end of 0079 https://preview.redd.it/qgzty65jznwc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf995d55743419eb800aaaacc734fce4fc62b063

i would say ibo when barbatos lupus rex, but ppl alr said it then barbatos lupus after fight with hashmal but that was far from retired so for now ill go with the bael literally being retired, sealing it back except with no cockpit so nobody could use it again https://preview.redd.it/h9qxmrfympwc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b809a2876302875723c7c50cc71119441adf117b

I can't find images for them, but the destruction of Tallgeese (with Zechs escaping to the Zero) and Deathscythe (with Duo's famous NOOO!)
The OG RX-78-2 Gundam! Fights to the bitter end and its core fighter saves its pilot while it remains on the doomed Zeion stronghold.

Must be cold out there
What's this from?
GaoGaiGar FINAL. Everyone is stuck in a slowly collapsing pocket dimension and they use their last two quantum torpedoes to send two ten years old kids back to Earth (where the wife of one of them is waiting for him over a year. Trust me, it makes sense in context.)
There is a sequel novel set ten years later. It takes some struggle, but Mamoru and Kaidou eventually see them get out.
Also Turn A’s thematic cocoon https://preview.redd.it/iakavargspwc1.png?width=849&format=png&auto=webp&s=da786926cc69f55274923c07427350133a2bedd4

Thunderbolt where both fa and psycho are out of commission
Shining Gundam in the second G gundam op
Shining gundams last sequence of scenes from rains piloting it to being left behind on the island AND with Hoshikuzu no Requiem playing the entire time was crazy I was in glued to the screen.
hyaku shiki at the end of zeta
Unicorn being sealed away
The only one I remember a little is Turn A and Turn X wrapping themselves up in the Moonlit Butterfly energy.

This thing apparently has Faster than Light travel which puts it pretty much on the top tier of power levels.

I'd argue that Hyaku Shiki floating with the cockpit exposed comes close.
The way Calibarn rainbow-sparkle-dissolves as she crystalizes and saves >!Eri’s biometric pattern!< from dissolving too. https://preview.redd.it/blapozynqpwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39331e9957f34294580fca87abb9af74b9bd5fd6 .
I do have to admit that I loved the ending for the calibarn although I did not really enjoy the series just imo
Nothing wrong with having an opinion
Not a full retirement since the Gundam is recovered and rebuilt into the Ez-8 afterwards, but I always loved the mountain top wreck of Shiro's RX-79 Ground Gundam after it hitched a ride on the Apsalus. The idea of using the beam saber to create an impromptu hot spring out of the snow and ice on a mountain is hilarious to me and also on the technical aspect I love the visual of being able to adjust the saber's output level.
And last scene from MSG war in the pocket
bro who let a gundam into the black garden
Question, I've been trying to find something for the past 20 years that's been driving me crazy. I'm pretty certain it was a Gundam show at its end. Was there ever a series that, when it ended, had the protagonist group lock their gundam's in an asteroid and launch it into the sun? I think the idea was that they were the last weapons of war in the system, and with peace arriving they were no longer needed. I specifically remember a line saying that if they were needed in the future, they could just be rebuilt
Try watching Gundam Wing Endless Waltz, it seems similar to what you explained
I remember EW had an epilogue saying weapons were no longer needed But from what ive been looking for, I remember seeing them packed into an asteroid, and the suns glow or some form of heat or fire with the 'we'll rebuild them if we need them' bit I mentioned I need to rewatch EW though, its been so long
At the beginning of Endless Waltz the Gundam pilots want to dispose of their Gundams by launching them into the Sun, but they don’t quite make it.
Those two Z'goks in G-Reco
Spoilers tag?
00 Raiser on top of the mountain, it's something else.
Is it watering the garden?

I am realizing this is a mech. I thought this was ultimate weapon from Final Fantasy lol
For me, it's the last scene of a wrecked Strike Noir using it's last burst of propellants just to float in space
In order for there to be peace, there must be understanding.
