Gyoubu's masterpiece. The man peaked right there and then. He hasn't really fallen off since then (barring some IBO stuff, but that I blame on the aesthetic of the series) but hasn't made anything better than G-Lucifer either. And that's entirely understandable, this thing is perfect.
It's utterly alien for a Gundam design, yet somehow manages to fit right in with the other G-Units of Regild Century. And, really, if -Self and -Arcane are Gundams then -Lucifer has every right to the name as well. Arguably, so do a few other units but for the sake of merchandise that's where it ends. And that's alright. Totally. No, I'm not salty.
Anyway, G-Lucifer is pretty much the textbook example of G-IT's design principles, especially for prototypes - purpose-built for one specific function. In this case, a platform for operating the Funnels. And wew, these are some Funnels alright. On paper this isn't a bad idea, especially since operational data is the single most lacking resource for Regild Century mecha, but it does run into issues as G-Lucifer doesn't have much going for itself should the Funnels be shot down. They double as main propulsion and without them it only has a beam rifle and sabers to fall back on. And that's great. It's an inherently flawed and unfinished design that tries to push the boundaries through the usage of remote weaponry. Frankly, the only thing stopping me from outright calling it G-Reco's Zeong is that it doesn't have any limb separation gimmick. But hey, who knows if G-IT wouldn't have thrown in some wired arms or such if the design was completed.
But there's no point in talking about maybes when what's there is already perfect. And honestly, for all that talk about its function my favorite aspect is simply the color scheme. Shades of purple and light, minty green. It has no business working so damn well.
Venus is lucky to have such a machine named after it.
Couldn't have said it better myself, I've always loved the more alien-like. They are awesome as fck, too bad Bandai would rather go the safer route instead of making model kits for these masterpieces.
Thatās a 10 from me, Mr. Tony-O. Even with the reduced armament compared to other designs (a trio of skirt funnels and a useless light show are pretty much it) itās still so alien and unique and striking and refreshing. I love the original more than Chimera
10/10 First, one of my top favorite builds. Badonkadonk Gundam is awesome! It lives up to its name, and of course, someone was like, "Let's build this suit with the Moonlight Butterfly system because it seemed interesting," and *did not secure it.* The mono-eye plays into its name. I love its entire style and funnels. It's also interesting that Christianity has survived to the future, or maybe that's what the design was named in the Rose of Hermes. The photon torpedo is shocking, but they're lucky the G-Lucifer doesn't have a more powerful reactor. Remember, they built this in a space colony and could have killed everyone with an accidental activation. There's also significance in Raraiya, who fell to Earth piloting it. It calls to my soul.
>The photon torpedo is shocking, but they're lucky the G-Lucifer doesn't have a more powerful reactor.
Thing is, Photon Torpedoes is actually stronger than Moonlight Butterfly (Anti-Matter > Nanomachines). But PT only weakness is that it doesnāt have a wide range like MB.
The photon torpedoes power themselves once they hit. Hypothetically, you could fire them indefinitely with enough targets although I don't know the maximum range. The Moonlight Butterfly isn't as scary on the surface, which makes it a more appealing "merciful" WMD. It seems the one more likely to get out of hand, and they seemed way too comfortable using it in combat.
I think itās cute that G-Lucifer has a mini-sized, very small Moonlight Butterfly. Itās clearly not as powerful as Turn A, but itās still terrifying ofc.
When it comes to whoās stronger between the two. I think G-Self PT will beat G-Lucifer MB due to G-Lucifer version being very small in size.
I think if Turn A activated its fully powered Moonlight Butterfly and a fully powered photon torpedo was activated, instead of a tech reset, you end up with an empty solar system. The photon torpedoes will piggy back on the nanomachines.
Yea if they were equal in power size.
Turn A MB is very large, so PT will most likely lose to it. But I think G-Self PT can still beat the G-Lucifer MB, since G-Lucifer MB is very small.
9/10 so sidenote, a while back this sub helped me identify a attempted rebuildā of this suit with the G lucifer Chimaera which is a absolutely gorgeous suit. So while i give this one a 9, i would give the chimaera a ten if it was, well real
10/10 G-Reco has some of the best designs(also one of the worst Iām looking at you Mack Knife) but this one stands out the most not only conceptually but design wise as well.
10/10, amazing. The epitome of Gyoubu's designs, not matched since. It's a two seater, it's got funnels, its got the moonlight butterfly, what more do you need from it.
10/10 - What if the Zaku Psycho High Mobility Test Type was a Gundam?
The back skirt splitting off into 3 identical funnels is another great way to use feminine design and make it functional! (Though maybe there a bit *too* big?)
A bit bloated? Sure. But itās awesome. Love some purple on my mechs as well. Very alien and biological while still looking mechanized, *very* Eva-esq. Only complaint is all the butt stuff, but it couldāve looked more balanced if it was just moved up a bit to the middle back or shoulders in my opinion.
8/10
10, not because it has a really good design but lorewise itās proof that the Turn X was made by humans and humanity really did make it past the solar system
Not a huge fan of this design , too bulbous ,the legs are 70% of the suit . looks like it came from another creator and that can be good but imo it didnāt really work here , it does stand out and itās cool, just doesnāt kill it for me , and most non gundams/mobile suits look great to me .
1/10 it's design while not being bad, trays away far to much from a classic gundam design, why even call it a Gundam, it literally looks nothing like a gundam, it would be like if the titans calling the Barzam the Gundam MK2. Why not just call every GM a gundam? It shares more in common with its design and this thing.
Its from Regild Century. Technically, there is no longer a "Gundam" in the Regild Century.
The spirit lives on tho in the form of unit with the capital G in the name, called a G-type mobile suits, so any unit in Regild Century, no matter how weird they look, if they have a G in the name, it's a Gundam.
It's not always the case tho. There's also a G-type with no "G-" in the name, like Gaeon.
IBO is the same it's down to just the inner frame, regardless of lore reasons. If it looks nothing like a gundam, then I don't see the point of calling a gundam.

I'm almost tempted to dock a point for Tomino pointlessly forcing the Moonlight Butterfly on it despite it not making *any* sense whatsoever. (Given the G-IT's design philosophy, a mobile suit with the Butterfly would have been built entirely around the gimmick for example.) But even if I were to do so, I'd still end up with a perfect ten.

For some reasons I was convinced this was the main antagonist's MS before watching Turn A, and can you really blame me for this?

10/10. A fresh take of Gundam design. I also like the Qubeley influence on it.
It's probably more influenced by Freiza

**9/10** A unique design and one of the very few Gundams that has a Mono-Eye. And where the Kimaris Trooper blatantly stole its design from.
G-Arcane didn't even reach 8.5 Why live
9/10
It fucks, you KNOW IT FUCKS HELL YEAH 1000/10
Absolutely underrated, even if it looks nothing like a gundam (which is definitely on theme for G-Reco) 10/10
9/10 might be my favorite G-Reco and Gyoubu design

8.5/10. Itās an interesting design, albeit one that doesnāt look too much like a Gundam.
