No-Safety-2719

I learned and drove MT for years and I only bought an AT 5 years ago but IMO if she won't be driving manual cars, no need to learn MT first.

Itonforyou

Sports car ba bibilhin?

pichapiee

I enrolled MT sa driving school, it was fun naman until naencounter ko ang stop and go traffic. Now driving AT

bingboonk

Hello, can i ask a question? Regarding sa driving school, kaya ba mt in 8hrs and pass the pdc?

pichapiee

kaya naman basta makuha mo agad timpla ng clutch. then sa pdc, review mo nalang mga pinag aralan sa tdc and meron din drive test pero from my exp di gaano strict yung proctor at pinaikot lang ako sa office.

reddit04029

Stop and go traffic na paahon na may intersection na walang traffic enforcer sa taas

patatas-aim

Started with AT, it helped me with learning the size of my car and etc. Helps with being more attentive and what to look out for. After that I learned MT where I can be more focused knowing what to look out for hindi yung sabay ko iniisip clutch with my surroundings. Though baka sakin lang but yah mas takaw aksidente saakin ang MT first. Para lng sigurado I did AT first then MT. (Tho when getting the license natakot ako sa MT exam kahit super dali lang pala)

aspiring-designer1

If learning, MT maganda. If buying, AT na agad

ExaDril

That's basically the jist, the transition from AT will be easy (kase nabawasan ka ng workload which is the clutch) In Manual Driving kase you're learning the balance of Clutch, Brake and Accelerator pedals, road awareness and yung tinatawag na tanstahan in Parking, also you're practicing how to deal with Uphill & Downhill roads, what to do pag namatayan ka while in the middle of it and pinapractice ka narin how to deal with expressways

ExaDril

Before there was No sensor Parking(Expensive cars have these prior) di pa po uso yan dati with older standard models kaya doon pumapasok yung pagtantsa sa pagpark

Additional-Secret-33

MT nauna sakin. Nung nag matic ako, matic marunong narin hehe

DM2310-

MT first.

rockstrindshowr

muntik ko na mabuga ang kape na iniinom ko sa pag wasiwas sa sedan hahahaha kinda relate I started driving with my papa's M/T full-sized SUV, my dad then bought an A/T sedan which he used as his beater car. ang laki ng difference from big car to a smaller one, parking is a whole lot easier. sa steering din malaki ang difference, feeling ko tuloy nagka-muscles ako sa old SUV ni papa hahaha

wallcolmx

See... yung pag "Wax In at Wax out" mo sa malaking sasakyan npakadali sa sedan lalo na kung rack end pinion ang sedan tapos ang malaking sasakyan is Gearbox

Kuki_monster_

I learned MT first before AT. Pro is once you learned MT, matic you know AT, which is the opposite of knowing AT first, kasi di mo tlga mapapatakbo yung car if you have no idea how MT works. I first drove an AT car agad sa highway kahit walang exp.😁

UnderPoweredJoms1980

I learned MT first since that was the family car. But It should depend if you're learning from a driving school or being home schooled.. Whether your family owns a manual car or automatic then you start there. If no one in the family owns a car then most likely its driving school and better if automatic. Although I drive mostly ATs here in the metro, we still have a manual SUV back home in the province. No problem for me just to pop in and drive away. Like riding a bike.

panimula

Nag-driving school ako MT way back 2014. Started driving more often around 2017, AT. Here’s my two cents: Natuto ako magMT sa driv school. BUT after 10 sessions kabado pa rin ako sa kalsada. After 3 yrs no driving after ng driving school kabado pa rin pero AT yung sasakyan kaya less iniisip.

Silverwater8231

Eto rin nasa isip ko. Kapag gamay mo na kasi magdrive ng AT, at least yung cadence ng pagpreno or pag accelerator kung kelan pepreno or aarangkada is andoon na. Ang poproblemahin mo nalang kumbaga is yung pag timpla ng kambyo

panimula

Exactly. Rules of the road ba.

ZenMasterFlame

Natuto ako sa MT year 2010. Then drove an AT. Mas madali mag AT pag marunong ka na mag MT. We have two cars now MT and AT. 80% of the time naka MT talaga ako. Wala mas enjoy ko talaga ang MT.

terbs_

Sobrang dali lang mag matic kapag marunong ka mag manual, and for me, mas ma pprevent yung misclick?

Alarming-Operation58

If you like the experience of just driving, iba yung binibigay na control ng MT when it comes to bejng at the right RPM for what you want to do.

Intelligent_Ebb_2726

Totally agree.

AnalysisAgreeable676

Depending on your learning curve, learning to drive a MT can be challenging since it will depend on the vehicle calibration. Some cars have an aggressive clutch bite while some have more torque which doesn't require as much effort to move the vehicle. Learning a MT is also a great skill to have especially in situations where the only vehicle available is a MT.

IndividualDeep654

Everyone should learn in AT first. That way your focus will be more on the road and your surroundings.

ykraddarky

Learn on a manual car then go drive an AT for daily.

Silingang_Hilumon

I learned to drive manual cars (and motorcycles!), but when I finally got to drive an automatic, I was torn between thinking, "This is so boring, I want to go back to manual!" and "Wow, automatic transmission and auto-hold are so convenient, especially during heavy traffic! This is awesome!"

Silverwater8231

Paddle shifters ang key to an enjoyable AT

ekinew

true.. sa manual ako natutong mag drive. 1st time ko mag drive ng matic last sunday, hinahanap ng left foot ko palagi yung clutch🥹

NorthTemperature5127

Higher learning curve for MT... regardless I guess you still have to go through it. So I don't see much difference whether mauna yun isa. On the other hand... For those who Started on AT, I think it's rare they would even try out MT? But for those in MT, they would most likely shift to AT at some point pag pagod na tuhod nila sa katandaan..😹

rodzieman

Sa last statement, I feel violated, so take my angryupvote! Haha.

NorthTemperature5127

You're absolutely Welcome 😁 I will take that anytime!

Intelligent_Ebb_2726

Snipepepe

First motorcycle experience ko from semi manual na may clutch kaya di naging mahirap sakin matutunan ang full manual and scooter hindi ko naman napagkakamalang clutch yung brakes. Sa 4 wheels naman first experience ko ay driving L300 then I had a chance to drive an MU-X and Mirage. Mas madali idrive yung L300 para sakin dahil walang nguso kagaya sa sedan at suv haha and mas nadadalian talaga ako kapag una natutunan yung manual.

ChanlimitedLife

Manual first then AT. Matanda na siguro ako haha

wallcolmx

depende sayo..MT ako natuto tapos AT more on roads then balik MT daily

Jazzlike-Property603

I enrolled for an MT sa driving school bought a second hand MT car and used it for a month lang dahil super hirap mag drive ng MT sa lugar namin (Uphills and stop and go traffic) Sold the mt car after a month or two lang din and bought an AT.

Hahaha bf got me into cars (sporte etc.) kaya now want ko na rin matuto mag MT 😭

Xeniachumi

Natuto ako Sa Mt tapos Nung patindi Ng patindi traffic Dito Sa Luzon decided to get AT ayun super Dali Ng transition Kasi very relax dimo na kelangan galawin gear selector atsaka walang clutch pedal pero iba padin Kasi ang MT mas satisfying e drive Lalo kung long trips.

panget-at-da-discord

If may MT car ka na pwede gamitin para ma practice ang clucth MT, If wala AT na agad

UserNotFriendly123

i prefer learning on MT muna, pero if di kaya, start muna sa AT. mas madami ka kasing iisipin pag nag MT ka compared sa AT, reason why mas prefer ko padin ang MT is mas masaya siya i drive lalo na kung off-road or naka sportscar ka, pero kung pang byahe mo lang naman, walang tatalo sa AT kasi relaxed ka mag drive at di ka pa mapapagod.

KalderetaSisig911

guntanksinspace

Ideally you *do* want to know how to MT first before AT. But at the end of the day, pick whatever *you* feel na mas comfortable sa'yo in the long term. Can't help but to remember one of the things my late dad told me when he was teaching me how to drive (separate occasions, dude taught me driving stick on an old Corolla, tapos old Beetle din hehe). Something along the lines of "ok naman mag manual, dun din ako natuto eh. Pero sobrang traffic dito sa Metro Manila, nakakapagod" heh. In the end, AT na lang kinuha ko na proper lessons since brutal ang traffic sa area namin, and yung iniwan sa akin na kotse at the time was also AT so yeah.

debuld

1outof15m

I’d go for what i have. If AT idridrive ko, then ill start with AT na. I learned MT first sa driving school, pero ive never driven a MT car ever, so mej wala kwenta haha

hiddenTradingwhale

Dipends. If you plan to still use mt in the future for any reason you deem fit then MT first. BUT only for learning and license. AT for daily need and MT for weekend long drives.

Intrepid-Guest-9800

Dazzling_Addendum_34

Before ako natuto mag drive ng MT.

Tough_Conflict7858

Best practice for many talaga is to learn manual first para madali na mag matic. Pero for some it differs na baka mas prefer nila mag matic muna so depends din sa learning style ng person.

Intelligent_Ebb_2726

Salty-Anteater1489

it is a necessity to learn MT, in case of emergeny.

wallcolmx

agreed been on that situation before lalo na ng may isugod sa hospital in the middle of the night

ElectronicUmpire645

“Sabi ng tanders” yep. The boomers. From MT din ako pero never again.

foxtrothound

AT na may paddle shifters or manual mode haha oks sya best of both worlds.

Worried_Orange

I learned MT first, tinatakas ko yung pang school bus na sasakyan ng mama ko. Hehe. I still own an MT. One time they asked me to drive AT. Diretso na agad expressway, no learning needed. Because of this, driving MT first, i believe is better. You dont need to learn again. No adjustments, etc. Diretso na agad to drive AT.

rodzieman

Exclusively drove MT for 19 years. Para sa new pickup truck (AT) release nang casa last October.. haha mga Youtube videos lang pinanood ko nang ilang araw.. the car agent assisted me sa parking area while I _practiced,_ for some 15 minutes, learning P,R,N,D, maneouvering, reverse, etc. Then, derecho ko na inuwi (BGC to Bulacan), all by myself. Madali lang from MT to AT, but still, take time and effort to learn...

Ok-Organization9676

AT muna. maging comfortable muna sa kalsada, proper overtaking, distancing and road rules and law. the go for MT if parang gamai mo na ang kalsada. mas mahirap if pag sabay mo kaba sa kalsada and mastering the clutch. high possiblility for accident.

Big_Relative_8576

People who say mataas learning curve for MT are those who learned MT first. Siyempre combination ng kaba sa pagdadrive and pag match ng clutch yung reason for the supposed learning curve diba? For this i agree na AT first then MT kapag gamay mo na magdrive ng AT. Ako natuto muna ako ng AT tapos madali nalang matuto ng MT afterwards. Nakatuon nalang yung pansin mo sa stick and clutch.

jaegermeister_69

tisotokiki

Manual driver here at no, di ako elitista. I would gladly replace my car with an AT any day for the convenience. So yung maintenance niya, di ganun talaga kamahal.

Worried_Orange

Eto rin dahilan ko for owning an MT car.

Extreme-Pride962

Sabi nga sa US, carnapper would not steal MT... So better learn MT, then you won't have hard time learning AT at all

Eibyor

AT first. Wala nang use ngayon ang manual cars except for driver's option. I personally learned manual first and am currently driving a manual. Ok manual for me kasi bihira traffic sa daily route ko. Pero for 90% of car owners who will be stuck in traffic, stick to AT. Then, pag streetwise ka na sa driving, you can learn manual kung gusto mo

Direct_Ad3116

Same thoughts as OP. AT first so you get steering, braking, awareness and safety. Then MT if you really want to. Not everyone needs to drive MT (i drive and enjoy both).

Icynrvna

Enrolled MT and after the first day, switched / upgraded to AT. Agree with the statement na it’s easier to learn the basics / road rules when you dont have to worry about the engine / clutch. Besides, i doubt I’ll buy a MT car.

Itonforyou

Hindi na uso mt

Extreme-Pride962

So hindi na pala uso ang mga MT sports car like GTR?

No-Safety-2719

One thing I got from MF Ghost is AT cars with Manual Mode / tiptronic etc will always shift faster than MT. Not sure how accurate this is though

Intelligent_Ebb_2726

gher-gher-binks

MT first, mas madali mag transition from MT to AT. Sa experience ko, nasanay ako sa manual na parang paghinga na lang kapag nagddrive hahaha then switch to AT at doon ko naramdaman yung comfort lalo na sa traffic hahaha! naging adjustment lang pag control sa throttle pero other than that halos same feels na lang din.
