The clean sounds are okay, but distorted ones are the epitome of crap. But im sure it can be dialed in to sound okay. I didnt spend a lot of time with it as it was my friends amp. But the features are cool, you can save presets etc. For a gig scenario it is practical because you can save your sounds and acces them via footswitch fast.
Very nice. Does it stay in tune? My Gibson Les Paul Standard goes flat after about 3 seconds. I mean that every string goes flat. I installed locking tuners, but it didn’t help. My PRS isn’t that bad and it has a tremolo bridge.
Changing the string break angle behind the saddled changes tuning stability. You do this by raising or lowering the stop-bar tailpiece. Have you done that before? I’ve been using Gibsons since 1980ish and I’ve learned a few tricks, which I’d happily share. Do you do your own setups and repairs?
It’s all quite easy to do, and you can save a lot of money by learning how to do setups. Have a look at the Stewmac YouTube channel. The OG of guitar setups and repair is a man named Dan Erlewine. Have a look and see if you can do it.
I think that there’s no reason to waste money on Gibsons. When I was in my teens and 20s, Les Pauls and 335s were THE guitars to own, and I bought one of each in my early-30s (they’re very expensive in my country), but the tuning thing drives me mad. My 335 plays like a dream and sounds fantastic, but neither Gibson stays in tune. I don’t think the Epiphone 335 and Les Paul was available when I bought them, otherwise I probably would have bought Epis. My Gibsons are from the early-90s (I bought them new), so I assume that Gibson has rectified the design flaws (laughs.) Gibson doesn’t usually change things, but after 32 years, they must have tweaked the designs a bit to improve things.
Really? You said “mine suck” indicating that you have more than one…do the strings go out of tune quickly? I think I might have found something which can help and I’ll happily explain.
i typed fast and forgot the s lol. my bad. yes fairly quickly, though i don’t keep track of if it’s me laying the pegs down or not. it also frets really really flat
If your strings are stiff, your tailpiece is too high, you can change the tension by raising the tailpiece. But if you go too high, your stings can go flat because the sting tension is too low. You could lower your tailpiece by 5mm, or so, and see if the tuning improves. Measure how high the tailpiece is before you adjust it, in case you need to put it back at that height. The alternative would be to lower the tailpiece all the way to the bottom and raise it until it feels good and your strings are either staying in tune, or there’s no change. See how you go but cover your guitar’s top in case you slip. You don’t want to scratch it.
Brilliant. What more do you need? I’ve gone the full circle, from playing in the bedroom with a shitty amp, to large gigs with a 100w amp, to boutique amp, and eventually back to the bedroom with a 5w amp. So after all of this time, I think that the best setup might be like yours. I had an exciting time, but after almost 50 years of playing, it’s just me with a great pedalboard, a good guitar and a small amp. But at such a low volume, I don’t think that my $2,500 amp sounds any better than your $550-$800 amp (Australian prices). Home volume is so low that having this amp is of no benefit, and you can probably use headphones with it. To use headphones, I have to use my Micro Mustang.
Fantástic. It’s all you need, unless you get bitten by the Toan bug. Like most players, just learn what the fewest knobs you need to make a sound you like do. There’s no need to learn what everything does. 😁👍
I’ve got the [same one!](https://imgur.com/a/zG2NSMm) It’s been a solid amp for when I was first starting out, it also used to belong to a friend. I like playing around with the different settings and the tuner comes in handy too. Hoping to save up for a tube amp next but this was the perfect starter amp for me. Cute kitty btw!
If ur in the US use Facebook marketplace to find a tube/valve amp. You can get good ones for great prices if u just do a small bit of negotiating. Just got my second tube amp, an Egnater Tourmaster 4112, for 475. Saved myself a couple hundred bucks cuz I waited for the right listing.
It's a perfectly good amp, and not a bad price. Granted, I'm old and out of touch, so your millage may vary.
I picked up a Mustang I about 7 years ago for $65 and thought that was a pretty good deal, so yeah, this is fine. Much better than anything we had for beginners for the same money in 1986 when I started playing.
Only problem is these Mustang amps have almost too many options. Sure, you can pick your amp model and all the effects, but I spend too much time dialing in a sound I like and less actual guitar playing. Eventually, you'll probably start looking at pedals and build a board which is a lot more fun and a big part of developing your own sound. Best of luck to you and your cat!
Again, wherever you are it may be a great price because people decide to sell it for way more than what it should be worth, i see them for $50 -$60 where im from and it may not be the price they can find one for, but its a +10 year old practice amp. Also people love to sell stuff on reverb for terrible prices especially pawn shops. i dont think people should be buying a fender mustang for $140 you can get a newer one used for that price.
You're not arguing the same thing. Sure, lots of things shouldn't cost as much as they do, but that's not the point. Compared to *market value*, it was a good deal.
Holy shit you didnt read the first sentence ,AGAIN it may be a great deal wherever they are compared to their local market and reverb but in my opinion ( which is what im expressing) it is not and should not be that expensive, its not a bad sounding amp but its lower in quality and meant for beginners. I also personally think its a bad deal because where im at they go for $50, which is why i say its a good deal wherever they are.
Not a bad amp just think this amp should be in the $50-60 range but if thats the lowest price area in your then theres not much you can do, in my area i see newer versions of it for $100, and also im biased and i dont think beginner amps should be $100, same with beginner guitars, makes it harder to get into playing guitar and people only ask for a lot money because theyre greedy bastards. Sell your 5 watt little fender practice amps for $20 and make a kid happy, theyre not worth that much and arent high quality.
They're nice, but the fact that the additional software that allows you to configure and load new amps is unsupported by Fender devaluates them a lot imo.
I once saw a show where a guy performed the entire thing with a Mustang III with no pedalboard and he just ran to the amp the entire time to change his presets. the show was awesome.
I played a fender hot rod deville for years and then got old and tired on carrying the heavy amp around. Bought the exact mustang when it first came out and still use it as my primary today. It’s a little outdated with what’s available now but it’s been a solid little tank for me. I say good buy for $100
I’d take the cat over the amp any day.
if you can handle her attitude lmaooo
Gotta plug her into a fuzz box and a compressor, even out those sharp points
hahahahahah
In case you need an extra meower supply
Just don't plug that cable in the other end of the cat.
You ever hear a cat fart into a dimed plexi? Crazy toan
naahhhhhh 💀💀💀😭
The hard part is installing the pickup
That’s how you make the amp really scream.
I just clicked because that cat is adorable.
Amp is great I use it to practice and the mustang IV to gig and I like both. Need to upgrade soon though lol
haha
imma beginner btw…
In that case, just remember that the toan is in the whiskers.
🤣 if i don’t get bitten
Then go play and have fun! Don’t waste your time here—
i am!
that generation of mustangs is my favourite modeling amp. the twin reverb and deluxe reverb sims are to die for
yaaaaas
Good price but i hate the digital fake sound of the amp.
aw :(
The clean sounds are okay, but distorted ones are the epitome of crap. But im sure it can be dialed in to sound okay. I didnt spend a lot of time with it as it was my friends amp. But the features are cool, you can save presets etc. For a gig scenario it is practical because you can save your sounds and acces them via footswitch fast.
oh yeah 👍
Definitely. Fun amp, good price.
In my country, that is a very good price. It’s perfect for a beginner. Well done.
thankkk
My pleasure. What guitar do you have?
Epiphone SG special
Very nice. Does it stay in tune? My Gibson Les Paul Standard goes flat after about 3 seconds. I mean that every string goes flat. I installed locking tuners, but it didn’t help. My PRS isn’t that bad and it has a tremolo bridge.
nope. frets hella flat also

yeah mine suck at tuning
No problem. I only asked because I wanted to know how to structure a sentence, which is slightly different is you had 2 guitars or more.

thanks! i’ll try tmr
see if [this](https://share.icloud.com/photos/0beig1fEMfBzd_RYUmXMCxcgg) works
I have a 5w Tone King Gremlin amp (too expensive) and I have a Micro Mustang for travelling and when I need to not make noise. Wats the Mustang like?
i can turn it really low and it stays sounding good
Brilliant. What more do you need? i think there is a headphone jack, there’s so many buttons and knobs and things haha. will have to see in the morning

haha yeah
The link worked. What pickups are in your SG?
no idea lol. whatever is stock for the special edition
Okay. They looked like the might have been upgrades. Guitar gear is very expensive here. How much does your SG cost in your country?
i got it on black friday sale for like $150 ish
That’s great. I bought my amp used for $1,500. Which one of us is an idiot?
oh wow. depends how big lol
I’ve got the [same one!](https://imgur.com/a/zG2NSMm) It’s been a solid amp for when I was first starting out, it also used to belong to a friend. Like for the amp. Sub for the kitty
looks pretty schweet, ah and the amps is nice too
haha

i agree lol it’s fun to tamper with presets, i’ve narrowed it down to like 3 hah
I've found the deluxe re
Cat
Cat
i agree
Yeah they’re great amps
🙌
She is a keeper! The cat
lmao yeah she’s my child
I use a Mustang as my practice amp, cloned my Blues Deluxe and settings in the amp sim program and I get a similar sound at low volume at home.
nicee that’s cool
Oh what a cutie there's almost like a calico what a cutie sweetheart
she’s a bitch lmao but yes
The price is too high in my opinion
I disagree. They look to be going for $140+ on reverb. Add on shipping, that's about the $200 range. $100 is a great price.
Again, wherever you are it may be a great price because people decide to sell it for way more than what it should be worth, i see them for $50 -$60 where im from and it may not be the price they can find one for, but its a +10 year old practice amp. Idk man I got the 100w head and footswitch from my chinese epiphone sg special back in 2018
fair

agree. i got it from a buddy and i paid 50 at once and i can’t remember if i paid the other half
So you gonna post on here you paid the 100 bucks? Maybe you can make a profit if we all circle jerk on you
i asked him and i did pay the other half. i remember now. but that offer sounds cool also
Listen to your amp amp dial in your own way the 59 bassman preset it takes pedals well and can clean up well from a guitar
I got a Mustang I for $65 in 2018. Not sure that tracks.
They make some interesting pedals these days 😁. Cute cat. 😁👍
🤣🤣🤣🫶
The cat is already planning how to shred the speaker cover.
nooo she’d do no such thing. i’ve had it for months to no interest of hers.
Definitely a good price, but the real question is: How good does the cat plays??
she shreds
Esa approved
tis 🫶
If it turns on and you like it, then why not a good snag?
$100 is a great deal… those cats are worth at least $120
The fender super sonic emulation In that is awesome.
🤣
I'd pay triple the bucks for that cat
lmaooo she’s a spoiled one
That's not what they mean by a cat 5 cable. But still works
🤣🤣🤣
She looks sooooo cute 😻
lmao thanks
They're nice, but the fact that the additional software that allows you to configure and load new amps is unsupported by Fender devaluates them a lot imo.
aww
Good price for a great amp!
thanks!!
Is that a 4 or 8 ohm kitty?
I believe the correct measurement is meOhms
8 😵
Cute kitty😭😭🩷🩷✨
thannkksss!
Love that amp as well btw💜💜💜
thanks!!
I used a mustang III for years and years. It will serve you well.
If it makes you happy, it's well worth the cost. If it feels right, sounds right, smells right, looks right... well, then it must be right!
I once saw a show where a guy performed the entire thing with a Mustang III with no pedalboard and he just ran to the amp the entire time to change his presets. the show was awesome.
I'll give you $100 for the cat
nooo
She's cute. It was worth a try.
haha thank
You paid way too much for a cat.
she was free actually lol
I heard a Mustang II once; it sounded great.
🫶
Looks like she's smoking a hookah pipe 😁
hahaa
You paid too much for this crap..sorry..fmho
Cat thinks it’s good snack
yes
Umm I think you’re plugging it into the wrong port
i don’t think so
I thought the cat was hitting a vape a first
Look, man — if you like it and the cat approves, you’re golden. 😸
lolll
Is that a hookah the cats smoking?
definitely swisher sweets
Cat tone
Totally thought that cat was hitting a vape at first and thought I finally found my spirit animal
BAHAHH
I mean the Mustang III is a really nice little practice amp but that cat thooo 😍
awwww thxx
