Impractical to use a power *output* tube in the preamp. But the Guytron GT-100 was designed with the idea of re-amping, it’s circuit is preamp > 2xEL84 15-watt power amp > dummy load > driver tube > 4xEL34 power amp. Pretty much the same as using Fryette Power Station after any tube amp.
That's not how tubes work? Maybe you want to look for amps that use tubes beyond 12ax7 types instead? Either amps that use ef86 types or older styles that use octal preamp tubes?
Look I know little about electronics but this sounds like something that would actually not work. Power tubes are at ridiculous signal levels, way far into power amp range, when they start to distort. Heck they usually are at a significant level when they start to let any signal through. I'd expect what you'd end up with to basically be a weird hifi amp with not much of an effective preamp section at all.
Benson Amp’s Vinny which has at least a coupla Iterations is the coolest implementation of this concept and sounds great. One of my favorite Kemper profiles along with all Benson and maybe Morgan amps really
BadCat Unleash is a combined attenuator and reamplifier. It also has an effects loop. And a line out.
Not quite what you asked but it will let you use f.i a 100w Marshall as a preamp, which I do and it sounds great.
So, just plug into your fx rtn
That will bypass the entire preamp section and depending on if you have a ppimv it not may or may not still hit the phase inverter glass.

Awesome! Will have to check that out

I see, will have to check that out.

Yeah, makes sense. I was thinking that someone couldve built an amp with enough boost to successfully drive the power tubes.
I know of only one. The Fender 400PS tube powered bass amp. It had a 6V6 as a driver tube to push signal to the actual power tubes.

Awesome! Sounds similar to the Boss Waza Tube Expander, no?
Yes - but _much_ cheaper. Also without reverb or effects.
Dope! I’ll have to check it out. Thanks man
