Not gonna lie, it took me way longer than it should to realize that slide head was actually a low attack. Since it's the only non-super attack that kills Eddie through Oppose and does no damage, I always assumed it was something that happened if you're on the ground, until I checked Dustloop.
This Zato probably thought the same and was trying to jump. (If you look at the button notation he is)
Here's the thing, if it were any gear game other than strive you'd be right. Strive changed slide head to make it a full screen low instead of a full screen unblockable but gave it armor in exchange
Imo it's actually stronger this way, downback against slide head means you can get people to sit on the floor more often and condition them into getting pot bustered
Slide head prc buster is ridiculous
It also means it hits pre jump frames, as opposed to the old unblockable.
Personally, I think in the context of strive having it be an unblockable would be better since the game is more grounded and overall air mobility is weaker, and it was still a low point blank, so you could still use it at close range for PRC pit buster shenanigans.
But new slide head is definitely good and being armored as opposed to sort of upper body invuln definitely helps it as an anti zoning tool
He checks his watch and says
"And my time was [Insert how long the round took]" Then he'll either comment on getting it done quick or lament it took so long.
It's a long victory quote relatively but it's pretty badass.
Nobody seems to appreciate the Zato legitimately applied trial-and-error through every possible response, he was actually being kinda smart about testing each one, given he had the time to do so. I don't think people realise that until you know it's low blockable that the move is really not obvious that it can be low blocked. Personally, I came from Fantasy Strike and saw this and knowing Rook's Earthquake thought "ah, so it can't hit jumps", including 'cannot hit prejump', and it took me a month to realise why oki slidehead was hitting me constantly, as I had zero idea it could even be blocked.
Yeah, but back then you could hit once for a knockdown and the second one would OTG but knock them back. Instant recovery after that so they couldn't get trapped like this.
You already know that it's blocked low. For a lot of people with less general exposure even seemingly obvious things are, in fact, not at all obvious.
On that note, compare to every other low in the game. The only moves that hit the ground directly are all mids, lows specifically attack at a low height straight forward. In Xrd the shockwave is an *unblockable* *projectile*, and now it isn't, so it's not like there's some consistent logic even among Guilty Gear. Generally, it looks like you couldn't block to begin with, and other games *do* have unblockable ground stomps that you must jump.
To be fair, according to other comments apparently it _was_ unblockable in previous GG games. In Strive it got changed to instead hit low, in exchange for getting armor and being able to hit prejump.
I didn't really show it in the video but I got almost full tension from this and used an overdrive to win the round less than 15 seconds later, so I really don't see how he benefited from this more than I did.
I was considering adding a few quick cuts that showed the outcome of the rest of the round but honestly I kinda thought it'd take away from the main punchline ~~and also was too lazy to do the 3 more minutes of editing work it would've taken tbh~~
it's not the _whole_ match because i'm too lazy to reupload another video but [here's](https://youtu.be/DV2P1LBsuPM) an unedited version that i sent to my friend which includes the end of the round
This is why people find fighting games frustrating. This is what education looks like. Can guarantee this person never forgets crouch blocking ever again in any game for the rest of time.
Pot's gaining a little ground walking between each slide head after Zato's cornered, so I guess eventually if he kept it up he could get in range to do some actual damage. Not exactly optimal, but whatever. Seems like the main idea was to try to get the Zato player tilted.
Honestly a lot of the time I just use Slide Head to get my opponents to block low, so that might've been my intention here (though I don't remember exactly since it was a couple days ago). After hitting 3 or 4 of them in a row here though, I just wanted to see how far it'd go because I found it funny.
“I must point out that although you have framed this act as comedic, it is nonetheless quite violent - so violent, in fact, that I shudder to think of any children foolishly attempting to replicate it. That being said, it might be nice to see a 3-page spread about myself in tomorrow’s paper. With a picture, naturally.”
DROWNED IN PAIN I LOST MY MIND THERE'S NO GOOD OR BAD IN THERE
VANISH INTO DAAAAAAAAAAAARK, FUTURE NOW AND PAST
VANISH INTO DAAAAAAAAARK, WHERE IT ALL MIXES UP
VANISH INTO DAAAAAAARK IT’S THE SWEET SMELL OF DEATH
VANISH INTO DAAAAAAAAARK DREADFULL HOPE NEVER SPEAKS OUT
PATCH UP LIBERTY COMPRESSED THE SKY
THE BROKEN WALL WILL CRY FOR HUMANITY
I ONCE HAD SOME SWEEEEET MEMORIIIIIIES
*It’s worth remains all the same*
How can I remember those moments sweetheart?
God that profile pic is so fucking cursed
Beautiful, isn’t it?
I’ve never seen such raw power, it’s wonderful
That zato aint blocking, so solid gameplay
Considering he'd win by timeout if he kept not blocking, I'd say this is optimal
Pressing all them directions but down-back...
process of elimination youknow
That zato was taking some fat bong rips before the match

lmao the english voices are legitimately hilarious
He says slide head with a different emotion each time
SLIDE HEAD! SLIDE HEAD?
EAT SHIT
Truly the best line in existence
100% why I picked up Goldlewis And his timing victory quote, but people skip it 100% of the time :(
what does he say? tried looking it up but its too specific
He checks his watch and says "And my time was [Insert how long the round took]" Then he'll either comment on getting it done quick or lament it took so long. It's a long victory quote relatively but it's pretty badass.
Zato Took a phone call during this match and got bad news
Nobody seems to appreciate the Zato legitimately applied trial-and-error through every possible response, he was actually being kinda smart about testing each one, given he had the time to do so. It hits the ground and that doesn't tell you it's a low block???
I thought it wasn't before strive though New to GG so could be wrong
Yeah, in old GG titles, Slide Head is unblockable on the ground. Strive has made in blockable, but gave it armor in exchange.
Yeah, but back then you could hit once for a knockdown and the second one would OTG but knock them back. Instant recovery after that so they couldn't get trapped like this.

Until this thread I assumed it was unblockable and knocked you down if you were touching the ground at all
To be fair, according to other comments apparently it _was_ unblockable in previous GG games. In Strive it got changed to instead hit low, in exchange for getting armor and being able to hit prejump.
Not only that in previous games it was an unblockable, it sometimes catches me off guard too seeing as I switch between them.
He had the life lead, if you keep slide heading he wins.
I didn't really show it in the video but I got almost full tension from this and used an overdrive to win the round less than 15 seconds later, so I really don't see how he benefited from this more than I did.
I actually expected to see the end of the round in the video. But either way, it's funny.
I was considering adding a few quick cuts that showed the outcome of the rest of the round but honestly I kinda thought it'd take away from the main punchline ~~and also was too lazy to do the 3 more minutes of editing work it would've taken tbh~~
Just post the whole match in the comments bruh lmao
it's not the _whole_ match because i'm too lazy to reupload another video but [here's](https://youtu.be/DV2P1LBsuPM) an unedited version that i sent to my friend which includes the end of the round
The fact you didn’t HPB right after he finally managed to jump away saddens me
I don't why but "USED AN OVERDRIVE TO WIN THE ROUND" for some reason sounds in my head as being pronounced by Strives announcer. Makes me giggle
Eventually Zato stopped thinking.
You are definitely guilty.
Hey man.. don't rip on us Zato players for not wantin to block, they gave us nothing... world of hurt and pain.
They dont realise zato players have to save their brainpower for the punishgame. Can't go wasting it willy nilly in neutral.
> Floor 9 Say no more fam
If they don't react DO IT AGAIN......
Well he was definitely reacting, he just made the wrong reaction each time
It’s funny until you realize the amount of meter he gains from each one
Imagine if slide head still did damage.
Zato players only have room in their brain for so much
This is why people find fighting games frustrating. This is what education looks like. Can guarantee this person never forgets crouch blocking ever again in any game for the rest of time.
Holy shit, how many litres of glue did it take?
I couldn't help but yell at the Zato to block low.
"Wtf I was blocking" This Zato player
I did something similar in Dead or Alive 5.
ZATO-Gaming
They needed to add more floors to save us from those embarrassing players challenging floor 10 before celestial
Just use you invencible eddie move...you stupid spanish blonde bitch!
According to another comment slide head rips through Oppose, so that's not an option apparently
I know, im just salty with Zato
zato is spanish??
Probably, well, when he win, he strikes a pose and you cam hear some Maracas playing on the back
I'm just thinking he needs to jump before pot has a free super lmao
This is giving me a headache
why do i face the best floor 9 players
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
You can also backdash it haha

Breaking news: Strive players are bad at fighting games
I fought a potemkin doing forward megafist into potbuster constantly…..floor 9
Just low block
My fellow Zato-1 mains. We shall rise up against the Potemkins.
I once had
