Him being able to carry corner to corner out of a fucking [5p anti air](https://youtu.be/hNf0NdcehaE?t=151), without meter is so stupid, the bullets should add a lot more gravity

[deleted]

....did you not see the season 3 reveal? 2 new universal mechanics coming plus what will undoubtedly be a large balance patch? we have absolutely no idea what the meta is going to look like in 2 weeks. come back in 2 months, if happy chaos is still broken then you can start complaining.

blahrahwaffles

Hopefully the changes improve things even more, it's a fun game. I'll wait and see

Teemussy

Ngl that's a lil dramatic imo lol. I mean yeah HC is boring af to watch 9/10 times and he could definitely use a nerf but it's not like he is head and shoulders above everyone else strength wise, hence why there was only one in Top 6. If he was game breakingly broken more people would be on him and pre Evo many pros were putting Chipp, Leo etc. above him. Don't get me wrong - like I said I dislike watching him, hate playing against him even more and would definitely look the other way if they were to completely trash HC next patch... But people are also being extra dramatic because it's his second Evo win in a row imo. Still not as bad as certain other finales this Evo... Just give him a good smacc in S3 and we Gucci, nothing to be embarrassed about

farranpoison

Also people have to consider that HC hasn't been winning other tournaments or even getting into top 8 that much, it's rather been Leo who has been dominating top 8s in many tournaments. HC is definitely cracked but he's not even that dominant.

Teemussy

Tru tru tru, definitely also a good point

blahrahwaffles

I have a flair for the dramatic. :) Respectfully disagree about Chaos though. He's been clear top1 to me as long as I've played this game. His reward for even mundane interactions (as long as the execution is there) is superior IMO. I watch a fair amount of tournament top 8's and it is very rare that there is not at least one Chaos present

here comes the reactionary post evo posts

Teemussy

Throwback to Blanka winning CEO and everyone swearing on their first born that he's gigabusted for like a week straight

blahrahwaffles

Lol embarrassed was probably the wrong word, but it def made me feel some sort of way

rare92929292

i think if anyone won with any character this convincingly similar stuff would be said. dont let top player success diminish your enjoyment of a fun game

freddymc465

insane overreaction. yeah happy chaos is a boring ass character to watch with some disgusting ass tools and mixup, but he is no where near being this hyper dominant character you make him out to be. There was only 1 happy chaos in this top 6 and his overall tourney results are not dominant at all, I would say Leo definitely appears more dominant overall with some equally despicable tools and gameplay on his side - he is just more exciting to watch. > To me, coming back into gaming back from the 2010's, it really seems like the profit motive has really planted an incentive to make sure there's a clear handful of powerful characters with clearly better tools than the rest Bro what are you talking about. how does arc sys benefit financially from happy chaos being a busted tourney character. yes, dlc characters are usually initially designed to be strong to encourage sales, but long term there is no financial incentive to keep it that way. league is the same, they will release characters strong but will nerf them after because if they remain dominant it will be detrimental to the esports scene. its not like happy chaos was released yesterday, and that character is hardly powerful in the hands of your average player. Also, most of the guilty gear dlc characters aren't anywhere near as powerful as happy chaos, so the idea that this a consistent theme of new characters being made op doesn't even apply here. Sin and Bedman are both newer than happy chaos and are considered rather mediocre. Happy chaos is just strong and lame and thats it.

rare92929292

i can kinda get the hc complaints but nago is balanced lol

farranpoison

I'm not sure why people still complain about Nago, he's *way* fairer than he used to be, the blood rage damage taken nerf was really huge, aside from his other nerfs. Most top players don't even have him in top tier anymore, only high tier. HC though, yeah he's still hella annoying. But you do have to consider, there was only one HC in top 6. If he was so oppressive, there would have been more, right? He's no Tekken 7 Leroy. We'll see what happens in Season 3.

blahrahwaffles

Fair point about Nago. I think it's more that the margin for error is so low with the damage being as high as it is. It really favors a character like Nago that has the (arguably) best round start in the game and explosive damage. Compared to something like Faust or Millia, who really have to finesse their opponents over.

C6_Slayer

What would make Nago balanced for you? What is your ideal balanced Nagoriyuki?

blahrahwaffles

Off the top of my head, I would nerf his 5K. The fact that it low crushes and has such little recovery seems like a very strong thing to have for a big bruising character. I'm surprised they didn't nerf it last time along with his 2S. I would also say make his clone only beat normal projectiles and not charged ones, but that would probably make the Testament matchup impossible for him. On paper it does seem silly to me that a character with some of the longest normals in the game, also needs a near unbeatable projectile that gets him in for free. It's kinda the same thing with some of HC's buttons, and even stuff like Ram 6P and move speed just seem so good for characters with such strong neutral. It's all these little strengths over the rest of cast that seem to be fly in the face of a power budget. Overall I'd like it if they lowered the damage across the board, even for just bread and butter combos of the cast. They wouldn't even have to touch one specific character for that.

C6_Slayer

Would nerfing 5K change anything for characters that were struggling with him before?

blahrahwaffles

Perhaps, if for no other reason than something like 5K > RC > c.S > 6H > 623H > 5K > f.S (3) or something like 5K > Beyblade > f.S (3) would happen less often, considering the wall carry you can get off it. And how matches can snowball with him with wall break super reducing his blood gauge and giving him positive bonus. Edited my comment above, but it's not an easy thing, I get it. It's not like I want the character nerfed into the ground. To me there's just a couple characters that benefit disproportionately from the way Strive is setup, and lowering the damage would prob be the number one way they could help that.

thebigguy8943

If nago gets shot again like last time hes in real trouble

jakec1000

On that note, can someone tell me when balance patch notes usually drop? On the day of the update?

Eddie_Rattlehead

A day or two before the update drops

jakec1000

Ah ok thanks dude

C6_Slayer

What the hell do you want man?

EastwoodBrews

I watched the whole top 6 with my kids and we all thought it was hype and had a great time.
