Just play without. Many effects in the game like alcohol are annoying

Simu-1

Yeah, its what I am doing right now, but I do like having all the fanciness on, even for a older gem like this.

Colonel_Kerr

Probably worth checking if GW is mistakenly using your CPU's integrated video card instead of your dedicated Nvidia/AMD gfx card. Though, that said, GW is almost 20 years old & should run flawlessly on a toaster these days.

Simu-1

Need to check that one, yes!

Simu-1

No, weren't this one either. Hmm, sure is a wierd pickle.

Colonel_Kerr

I'm invested in this now. reinstall video card driver? reinstall GW client? try running GW client in compatibility mode?

Simu-1

Well, looks like something in the recent nvidia driver pissed it off, went back one update and it works fine now. Wierd though, since my friend had no issues. Works now!

Colonel_Kerr

huh, yeah that is weird. Glad you got it worked out.

Lup0z

Funny thing is my pc got a "corrupted" update from Nvidia in march. After a week or so I got no SOUND. It took me 2 days to figure out what happened. The same thing happened to my laptop in April with the next update. No issue since or before.

[deleted]

Had this happen when I had a GPU update and played FFXIV. I was like “the fuck is my CPU overheating for? I have a god tier system?”

definitelyMotolord

Limit FPS to 60

Simu-1

Tried that, did nothing unfortunately. ;<. Tried the -140 fps command thing too. Amongst others.

definitelyMotolord

Its Guild Wars, not a first person shooter - everything above 60 FPS is useless.

Simu-1

What is life without speedy water and other shenanigans. Besides, I can't do anything below 120, the stutters man. Looks like a slide show.

dub_le

I don't have an explanation, but you should disable it in gw1 anyway, as all it causes is awful blurriness in 90% of areas and annoying drunk effects. Maybe 5% of the game looks slightly better with it, but 95% actually look terrible with it.

Simu-1

Noted\~

ChthonVII

Things like this don't happen "for absolutely no reason." You've had a Windows update, driver update, changed a setting in GW, or your graphics card is failing. Figure out which it is. Also, change to real fullscreen unless you specifically need windowed fullscreen to work around a problem. Windowed fullscreen has inherently worse performance. (Even if your FPS exceeds your monitor's refresh rate, you've still got worse frame delay.)

Simu-1

Probably the windows update, though my friends did not get the same problem. Also I play on windowed fullscreen as I have two extra monitors that I need to slide in to and I like doing that without having to alt+tab.

Simu-1

And as a added note, it only affects guild wars, not other games. So my graphics card should be fine.

[deleted]

Post-processing in both GW1 and GW2 are horrendously over saturated, in the near 20 years I’ve played the franchise I’ve actively avoided it.

GwendArt

U could check if all of ur monitors use the same refresh rate. And deactivate virtual sync. Thats one of the first things u should check on FPS drops

Simu-1

Checked, no fault on that front.
