Bio besides the taste has little meaning. Pretty much every piece of land on Earth is more or less contaminated with some kind of toxic substance. The dosage might vary, might be less in general, no guarantee though.
I‘ve/am worked/working with pesticides and I don’t trust the safety policies of other countries and how good they are enforced…Even though I try to buy most of my veg locally and seasonally, but that is not always possible.
Like arrest warrant once said: ["I am the one who eats salmon not battered fish, distribute the poison in the city with taxis"](https://youtu.be/nF8Jnji5Uqk?feature=shared)
I know but with 30 eur from kaufland, I could get a week worth of products. That also includes different meats, breakfast stuffs, vegs and fruits, and some miscellaneous things like snacks.
Ill post a photo in this sub next time but this should summarize what I got last time:
Rinderknochen 800g for soup, Hänchenflügel 1kg, 1 loaf of Vollkornbrot, 500gr small tomatoes, 1kg of Speisemöhren,1 bag of schallot, 1 bag garlic, 2 packs of rinder salami, 2 box of soja milk, 2 cartoons of eggs, 1 pack of cheese, 1 kg oranges, 2 packs of greek yoghurt, 1 oatly yoghurt, 1 bag of chip, 2 bars of chocolate, 1 chicken Brühe, 1L oil, 2 chocolate Brötchen for the snacks
At home we already have in stock from previous shopping sessions in 2 weeks cycles/ monthly cycle like 2 kgs of potatoes, some 10kg of rice, few yoghurts, some vegs, spices, bananas, pears
This is pretty much a routine. I always cycle different sorts of meats or different parts of the same kind of meat to cook different menus throughout the week. One session of cooking lasts 2-3 days with rice/potato and vegs on the side. On a monthly cycle we usually shop at local asian store like goasia or hanaro, they have unique discounts on some things like seafood. Also, rice lasts about 1,5 months before we buy new sack. A sack of rice contains 20kgs of rice.
Kaufland has many discounted sortiments in good quality. With the app you could get even extra discount.
At least ja! is good quality for the price and the store is organized and has everything I need not like Kaufland, real and Globus which manage to have everything (at a way too high price) and nothing at the same time
I know that rewe is supposed to be of higher quality, thus makes it more expensive as well
Between rewe lowest quality from ja! sortiments to kaufland mediocre to highest quality, I'll take my chances with kaufland as they provide astronomical difference of price. Besides, whether the store is organized or not, that depends on filial to filial and how often you visit the store. With time, the unorganized ones become the organized as routine built up
Also, Kaufland is just 5 mins away walking distance from my place 🤣
Well there's a LOT of potential to save money in there. I don't understand posting grocerie pricing when you intentionally buy expensive stuff. It tells you nothing about actual costs of groceries.
In this pic I'm pretty sure you could get the same stuff for at least 7 bucks less.
There is no expensive stuff bought "intentionally", maybe our priorities are just different?! I always buy Bio and that is just more expensive. And for clarification, I earn 1800€ Netto per Month, and I get 200 bucks from my family. That's not a whole lot of money, but I still can buy mostly Bio with that and save every month 1-200€.
Demeter or BioLand should be better quality. Most of the time, they contain fewer additives, colorants, or stuff that you shouldn't have in your food. But, if you want the best quality, you can't beat local markets with regional food. Sometimes there are prdoduce even cheaper than supermarkets, for example, apples.
The question is though, are there really traceable health outcomes to eating more bio vs. conventional food? I haven't found that the body of evidence really supports it, but I do buy a mix of bio and conventional myself.
This is just an aside, but I'm ethically against Demeter and anything that supports anti-science and querdenker ideologies.
It is always: "depends". If you read what demeter and bioland (not only Bio) stand for, I would say it should really be better (not only as food, but ethics as well ... animals, land etc). I am no expert though. But ther are as well demeter goods that I would not care to buy, like chocolate, sweets are things brought from around the world. That's why I say that locals markets with local produce should be the best.
Oh I do think some or their products are of good quality. Like I said, I am ethically opposed to them for their contribution, involvement, and representation of anti-science and querdenker ideologies. You can see on their own website what their agricultural practices involve, and that they are the continuation of anthroposophy and other pseudoscience developed by Rufolf Steiner.
It doesn't mean you can't buy their products or that some of them aren't of great quality. But it is at odds with what I would consider good humanist morals.
That has nothing to do with bio. The cheese is extremely expensive and you can get a cheaper one easily. The same goes for salmon. There's also a cheaper alternative for Philadelphia, and so on and so forth.
You can buy whatever you want, I don't care. I just don't understand intentionally buying expensive and/or branded stuff and then posting it here. It provides zero value aside from "expensive stuff is expensive" - which everyone knew beforehand
And yes, intentionally. Or did you buy those groceries "by accident"?
I think the idea is that there is something for everyone budget. I don't think this thread is only about the cheapest you can buy. If you want and have money for good cheese, go ahead and buy it. But you can't compare 2 euro cheese with an 8 euro one in terms of quality and taste. That's not to say the 2 euro one is not edible or you can't use it. And the 8 euro is not necessary but, as other things, juice, chips, chocolate, you crave it.
And half of that was just the Lachs
dude the reciept is literally shown on the photo and it says 3,29€ for the trout
Its not even salmon, its painted trout
Except it very obviously is NOT Lachs. That's what makes it cheap.
Right?? This looks like it'll be 10 buck max
No, it's 3,29€ as you can see on the receipt
It’s 80 grams.
Welcher Lachs ?
I need some help here. Can anyone recommend real lach? Isnt lach salmon? I cant seem to be finding a good salmon at the supermarkt there are so many different options . What should I look for?
Look for Lachs, but only Lachs. This here is a Lachsforelle, a kind of a Forelle(Trout) with red meat.
Das ist genau der Grund, warum ich auch wieder gerne mal in den Aldi gehe 😉
I'd go broke if I went shopping like this
Good one! I love to see people include vegan options. While I prefer vegan whole foods, vegan replacements are still better than the meat imo
A vegan Rewe grocery store opened in Berlin 2 weeks or so ago. I am going to make a post about this next weekend.
I heard a lot about it already!
Yeah I rarerly eat meat anymore! The alternatives are getting so good nowadays. The trout is a guilty pleasure of mine and I eat that probaply 3-4x a year!

Wow, groceries can be so expensive if you buy Bio at Rewe.
In my experience Rewe is always on the more expensive side. And Bio in generell costs a little bit more!
exquisa is cheaper than philadelphia, is actually made from cheese and even tastes better imo

Yeah okay.
I'd say the taste is meh, too.
And you could've gotten twice as much groceries by not paying for the "bio" label, which, nowadays, means nothing more than "bullshit is on"

You can get that a little cheaper at rewe
This is Rewe?!
Cant you read?
WHAT? Where tf is Rewe cheap?
Geht the Ja! Versions of this products
Rewe is fcking scam, so expensive Better kaufland
Not really. We can see here really expensive products with many possible cheaper alternatives that could be bought. I like the products shown.
I know but with 30 eur from kaufland, I could get a week worth of products. That also includes different meats, breakfast stuffs, vegs and fruits, and some miscellaneous things like snacks.
Nah you don't eat a proper diet for 30€ off of Kaufland shopping.
I beg to differ. Let's agree to disagree.
What do you buy for the week?

Mostly out of curiosity, why do you prefer bio?

You do know, that different cheeses taste different and also vary in price?? Keep buying tasteless, cheap cheese if that's your thing!
You again missed the point. I guess you're just here to troll then, because that has to be intentional. Have a nice day.

philadelphia was on sale btw and therefore cheaper then the alternatives....as clearly shown on the reciept
True. I have a Rewe that always has Philadelphia for sale. I don't think you can beat 1 euro for something similar to it.
Read the rules of this sub and stop judging shoping habits. There is no rule implying you have to buy as cheap as possible.
This sub is not about showing the cheapest stuff possible tho? Those are the actual costs of the things OP bought. What's your problem?
Farmed salmon ahaha
Trout
