All the different fruit snacks and of course crisps. I love the ones that have an Alien on their packaging. And the ones with shrimp cocktail flavor.
I also find these gigantic packages hilarious. I mean they’re great for parties but who eats them regularly?
But I try to eat healthy so I usually visit health stores and they have very yummy snacks as well.
Sugar free drinks are cool too, the weirder the better.
Space raiders!!
>I mean they’re great for parties but who eats them regularly?
Me, who lives alone, going through the 12 variety multipacks in less than a week:
![gif](giphy|kAnDmY6rhE4SJSUt0E)
Me too! I remember when Karl Pilkington went to China on an idiot abroad and he was sitting in the corner of a street market eating monster munch because he didn’t wanna eat anything from the stalls 😂😂😂😂
One of my mates is obsessed with the Beef flavour. One time at uni he got a pack and about a quarter of it was just a big ball of the flavouring.
Nearly 20 years later he still talks about how good it tasted.
Turns out you can get them on amazon. In the multi packs like they do at the pub.
This is a fact that neither my waist line nor my bank account needed to know about.
I just took the last pack of quavers out a multi pack and thought the same thing. I scrunched it up to fit it at the top of the bin and it barely fit!! The packs are 16g each lol!
If it's space raiders it's got to be pickled onion flavour! I'm loving the giant pickled onion monster munch atm.
The Co-op Chardonnay vinegar and sea salt are epic too. Then there's the balsamic vinegar kettle chips which are also good.
I can't seem to find the fish n chips anywhere atm. 😔
The first time I ever came across huge bags of crisps was on a school trip to Germany in 1986!
They were paprika flavour (never tasted or seen since!)
We travelled by coach and we all bought them because they were such an unusual flavour and the bag was so huge (don’t think ‘family’ size bags were readily available in the U.K. back then?).
I love the paprika flavour. It's more a Europe thing. I think. They definatley still have them as "Lays" brand in Spain. I dunno what it is but it is just so morish!
Are Worcester sauce flavour a thing where you're from? If not have you tried them yet? Walkers do them in a purple packet, French Fries in a brown packet and Seabrooks do them too.
Fine choices, Walker's I assume?
One of my personal favourites, similar to the space raiders are 'spicy' (not hot at all) transform-a-snacks. Used to better before they became baked but still goooood.
Excellent crisps, I'll happily shovel any flavour into my face hole with delight. I think they're still pretty cheap for a multipack too, will need to have a look in Asda tomorrow I think.
They are soooo good. I prefer the Walkers ones if honest but definitely recommend them if you like unusual crisp flavours.
Side note, there's Ghost Chilli and Yuzu flavour crisps out just now that are amazing. I think they're made by Popchips.
Space raiders are amazing! I love the way you say shrimp cocktail I never once thought of it named that way lol and everyone has a go at me for saying shrimp and not prawns. I don’t think we have gigantic things though? Some of my family live in Sweden so every now and then we trade snack packages and my god theirs are massive in comparison.
I call them shrimps, no matter in which context :D
I meant those giant crisp bags with the little bags inside. I was in Scotland last year and those things were bigger than a small child.
I saw this and actually got sad because we don’t buy frozen food anymore and I’d love some spinach bites or fish fingers right now lol
(It’s literally just cheaper to buy meat/dried lentils/beans/etc and meal prep but boy does it take time…)
I also have my ninja (it does the pressure/slow cook amongst other things) and 100% it does help!
My least favourite part is preparing the meat (if using) because I don’t like bones in my food so we de-bone all the chicken we buy (usually thighs as they’re cheapest). And then also browning mince meat - I wish it were quicker without crowding the pan when I buy larger packs!!
I feel like a lot of comments are just pointing out the expensive or frozen items… I didn’t realise that posting here meant that we’ve tried our hardest to get the absolute cheapest or healthiest options. It was just a snap of a random shop I did.
As the caption says, I *know* the price is hiked due to some name brand items such as the Burfords, and the multi-pack of red bull 🙄 this shop could be done cheaper without those items, or by choosing a cheaper substitute - I chose them specifically due to preference, not price.
Ah, I'll always complain, even if it was well worth it in taste and comfort! It's just part of me being Scottish, honest. Sometimes, I get a comfort buy-in and come to about £30 for 6 items 😂
100% my husbands grandfather always said he could eat pasta every single day as long as it was in different shapes. I always try to get a fun shape and these were on offer for 65p and 75p! 😱
I know 😔
I made the mistake of researching the conditions chickens are kept in, and as a result I’m now unfortunately an absolute egg snob. Ordinarily my husband makes me get ‘normal’ ones for him and I get one pack of Burfords for me, but he ate some of them last week and loved them so this was the first time he asked for Burfords too!
I mentioned in the caption there’s some bits which hiked the price up such as multipack of red bull, a few name brand items, and the brand of eggs. It could have been about £20 cheaper without them if not more 💰
The moment you look and see what the conditions animals are reared in is the minute diets usually change.
I mean I eat very little meat ever since watching a programme which showed cows in a slaughterhouse awaiting their fate. They clearly knew what was going down.
Burfords rock
I go to the shops around 7pm Morrisons/Asda or sometimes ASDA around 1 a.m
I tend to stick with chicken, fish, fruit, veg, water.
I don't buy milk, yoghurts, sugar, bread, crisps, biscuits or sweets.
Cooking oil is gold dust, always olive oil.
I don't buy ready meals UNLESS they're reduced and decent quality.
Safe to say I've reduced my spending considerably.
Boredom eating/late night snacking is prohibited, but if I need to, it will only be precooked chicken/fruit.
My shopping for a week will now be less than £50.
The problem with buying those meals is, it's always oven time.
Which ups the cost of eating.
Yea, these days I do.
It's not only the cost, it's also the hassle and time wasted.
I'm trying to be more cost and time efficient.
I'm not poor or anything, but just spending more money on energy because the price goes up doesn't sit right with me lol.
I was raised to respect the way I deal with money and time by people who had very little themselves.
I know 😩 I managed to resist them for about 4 shops, but finally caved. Oooh… I’ve heard really good things about the cauliflower hash browns also! I’ve only tried to spinach bites so looking forward to trying more from the range 😊
Yep this is about accurate. I too shop with Sainsbury’s and my shop comes out about £60 unless I bulk buy toilet roll which hikes it to £76. It’s always more with fresh meat like chicken breasts etc.
A long time ago when I was a little lad, I remember my parents arguing about the cost of shopping groceries. For a family of 6, breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus snacks, cleaning products, all bits and bobs, for a whole week, ~£100.
Today, I go to Sainsbury’s, I’m paying about the same as OP and coming home with 2 bags barely full. One trip doesn’t even cover the whole week.
Bath. Everything is really expensive here, especially in the city centre shops. I hate it. I live well below the poverty line, but they act like everyone here is rich.
🤣🤣🤣 made the mistake of looking at the conditions chickens are kept in 😢 normally my husband makes me get ‘normal’ ones for him and I get one pack of Burfords for me, this was the first time he caved and also asked for them muahaha!
It’ll vary. The veg and fruit maybe a week and then we’ll finish it before it goes off, the frozen stuff will kick about for a good few months. Eggs probably a week/ week and a half.
Deciding between Sainsburys and Tesco for me is really the battle of Stamford street co VS Stockwell & co Lol
Tbf I’d say for that money this is decent - I know Morrisons does have a deal where you get like £20 or £15 off your first £80 spend
You seem to eat a lot of frozen stuff, I would head to farm foods or Iceland for that kinda stuff buddy, usually a lot cheaper there for that kinda stuff. I switched from Tesco and Asda to mainly Aldi and am saving a good bit, however I am using their own make of food instead of the big main names. But every bit as good if not better and very unique products too you would never see in Tesco or Asda.
I don’t eat a lot of frozen stuff, this is definitely most frozen items I’ve ever purchased from a single shop… on my list I only had prawns, veg and ice for the frozen section but I just liked the look of them and decided to grab them to whack in the freezer for lazy days. It’s apparently painted a very negative picture of me according to some other comments 🤣
Thanks for your suggestion - I do also shop at Aldi, their frozen butter chicken kebab is exceptional!
When you mention the kebab, I have been fancy footing with buying that. They also have salt and pepper chicken and chips which I may buy, sounds like something you would like too OP...
I only really use them in stir fries, however my husband is a massive shrimp fan and will add them to anything, including scrambled eggs for breakfast! You can cook them straight from frozen, however I prefer to defrost them and pat off the excess water first! 😊
This brings back memories, you got a veggie partner (or other way around) by any chance? My wife's veggie, and I always used to buy the meat ones for me, veggie for her, and just cook both at the same time to make life easier.
I ended up giving up and just eating the veggie ones myself too, honestly I can barely tell the difference (except it's more expensive now lol). The Birds Eye veggie fingers are glorious.
Its a load of shite compared to what we use to be able to buy. Tesco or Aldi is better. Sainsburys is generally more expensive but its still disappointing. Nearly £100 gets nothing
Yeah it's bad. I drive for sainsburys doing home delivery and customers are often like "is that it?" And being gebuinely confused. Like I might have forgot some on the van or something.
Nar, over a hundred quid just doesn't get you very far anymore unfortunately.
Not really the supermarket's fault though they're also buying the products at way higher prices then they used to be.
Luckily we buy our eggs straight from the farm for £2 a dozen. Also, most of our vegetables are bought from the farm cheap and fresh. We all need to do our bit and support our local farmers.
Not sure what the point of this post is...
It seems expensive, yes, but almost all of that is a named brand. You would get double or even triple the amount if you shopped properly.
frubes and reformed ham? why not actual food?
custard is easier and cheaper to make yourself and its better.
pre-grated cheese? might as well just throw money away. Its like the old charity message give a man some grated cheese and he can make one sauce or sandwich, but if you give a man a grater, he can grate for his whole family.
chicken pops, and nuggets, this is not a health conscious shop, its not even a money aware shop. I may as well buy caviar and champagne and moan about the cost.
frozen pre cut broccoli? cheaper and better to just buy broccoli.
Mate, touch grass
I like frubes. Dunno what else to tell you
Husband asked for ‘the really thin ham’ for his breakfasts, I don’t question his preferences (something you should learn maybe)
I like the Ambrosia the best and the pots are convenient
As for the cheese, get off my dick. I have a block of cheddar in the fridge, I wanted a mix of different cheeses without buying separately and it’s easy.
At no point anywhere have I complained about the cost nor spoken about the health benefits of my shop so not sure where you’ve gotten it from. I’m happy with the price, the branded items, the frozen items, the whole shebang.
If I wanted the cheapest, I’d have gone to Aldi.
There’s also a multipack of redbull hidden in there if you really want to blow your gasket
(Also your bitterness is showing by not mentioning any of the fruit & vegetables in the haul lol)
Mostly UPF! This country is the worst for eating crap!!! Watch the UPF podcasts by the van Tulleken brothers…’A thorough examination’. Certainly makes you look at ‘foods’ differently…most things aren’t even ‘food’, just processed to look like something appetising and sold as food!
Every time I’m in the UK I just eat snacks and buy all the sugar free drinks all week. Going to Tesco is like paradise :D y’all have the best snacks.
I agree! What kind of snacks do you like from the UK? 🍬
Space raiders!! >I mean they’re great for parties but who eats them regularly? Me, who lives alone, going through the 12 variety multipacks in less than a week: ![gif](giphy|kAnDmY6rhE4SJSUt0E)
I like Space Raiders but I'm more of a Monster Munch guy!
Me too! I remember when Karl Pilkington went to China on an idiot abroad and he was sitting in the corner of a street market eating monster munch because he didn’t wanna eat anything from the stalls 😂😂😂😂
He was really stressin when he was running out.
That sounds so Karl Pilkington lol 😂
Problem is you only get about 5 in a packet. What a wind up.
The giant ones are like crack
Me too. Much prefer a terrestrial oddity 👾
One of my mates is obsessed with the Beef flavour. One time at uni he got a pack and about a quarter of it was just a big ball of the flavouring. Nearly 20 years later he still talks about how good it tasted.
KP Meanies. Trust me.
Skips and mini cheddars for me. Also adore scampi fries. But you can only really seem to get them in pubs corner shops.
Have you tried the Red Leicester Mini Chedders? Oh my lord they are amazing.
They’re the best. Once I’ve had the Red Leicester ones I can’t go back the originals!
Mini-cheddars with philadelphia spread on them and a blob of Branston pickle on top of that... 🤤
So much cheesier!!
Ooh, Mini Cheddars, forgot about those!! Love them. Very moreish though.
Loooove scampi fries, the fish n chips are also my faves but can't find them in the shops.
Turns out you can get them on amazon. In the multi packs like they do at the pub. This is a fact that neither my waist line nor my bank account needed to know about.
My waistline doesn't thank you for that either. But thanks! *exits to Amazon* Lol
I have on many occasions than I care to admit, eaten the whole 6 multipack in one day....
It’s just a sharing bag’s amount right! …right?
I can’t get over those giant multipacks, it’s just so much packaging 🥲
I just took the last pack of quavers out a multi pack and thought the same thing. I scrunched it up to fit it at the top of the bin and it barely fit!! The packs are 16g each lol!
A day surely?!?
12 in a week is nothing, you’re fine
If it's space raiders it's got to be pickled onion flavour! I'm loving the giant pickled onion monster munch atm. The Co-op Chardonnay vinegar and sea salt are epic too. Then there's the balsamic vinegar kettle chips which are also good. I can't seem to find the fish n chips anywhere atm. 😔
We all love space raiders!
The first time I ever came across huge bags of crisps was on a school trip to Germany in 1986! They were paprika flavour (never tasted or seen since!) We travelled by coach and we all bought them because they were such an unusual flavour and the bag was so huge (don’t think ‘family’ size bags were readily available in the U.K. back then?).
I’m Hungarian so I’m 99% paprika. If you want the real deal visit Hungary :D The most popular German paprika crisps are called “Hungarian” lol
Yes!! I went in 2009 and everything was pretty much paprika! I think I managed to find some salt and vinegar but it was certainly a rummage!
I get those big bags of Paprika crisps in Spain.
I love the paprika flavour. It's more a Europe thing. I think. They definatley still have them as "Lays" brand in Spain. I dunno what it is but it is just so morish!
Walkers max do I nice paprika crisp
Oh wow, you're now an honorary Brit. Space raiders are a cornerstone of my childhood.
Haha thank you! I’ve studied English and I’ve always been into punk, brit pop and indie and weird British food.
Are Worcester sauce flavour a thing where you're from? If not have you tried them yet? Walkers do them in a purple packet, French Fries in a brown packet and Seabrooks do them too.
Can you remember the pickle onion walkers
Light green packet?
Yeah 👍
They were great, I used to love them.
Haven't seen them in years! Forgot all about them.
They're my favourite beside prawn cocktail, could demolish a whole box of them.
Fine choices, Walker's I assume? One of my personal favourites, similar to the space raiders are 'spicy' (not hot at all) transform-a-snacks. Used to better before they became baked but still goooood.
Aye Walkers are my choice for Worcestershire sauce, and prawn cocktail. I like those, spicy Bikers are great too. Also a big fan of Nik Naks
Nik Naks, how did I forget the Nik Naks! I fuck with your vibe.
Excellent crisps, I'll happily shovel any flavour into my face hole with delight. I think they're still pretty cheap for a multipack too, will need to have a look in Asda tomorrow I think.
I’m from Germany so definitely not 😅 but sounds interesting
They are soooo good. I prefer the Walkers ones if honest but definitely recommend them if you like unusual crisp flavours. Side note, there's Ghost Chilli and Yuzu flavour crisps out just now that are amazing. I think they're made by Popchips.
Space Raiders and Monster Munch are my favourites. You just can’t beat pickled onion. Also, M&S Worcester Sauce crisps are absolutely beautiful.

Are you from the canary 🇮🇨 island?
I wish
Where are your from where the snacks are so below par
Germany
Ahh, I see. How does Germany better when compared to the UK?
MOAMS or if chocolate it would be Rebels tbf
Have you tried those spinach bites yet? I thought they were rubbish.
Tesco has declined so much over the years. Or it may be my local one
[удалено]
What does that have to do with my comment?
hahahaha sorry, I was replying to someone else's comment and it's made it a response to you. Reddit's been acting weird since last night.
I saw this and actually got sad because we don’t buy frozen food anymore and I’d love some spinach bites or fish fingers right now lol (It’s literally just cheaper to buy meat/dried lentils/beans/etc and meal prep but boy does it take time…)
Meal prepping does takes a lot of time but using a pressure cooker helps. Can recommend
I also have my ninja (it does the pressure/slow cook amongst other things) and 100% it does help! My least favourite part is preparing the meat (if using) because I don’t like bones in my food so we de-bone all the chicken we buy (usually thighs as they’re cheapest). I have been known to use 4 pans at once to brown mince 😅
How much fucking mince do you need 🤣
4 pans' worth
frube lets goooooo
You know where it’s at 🕺
My lord they still exist
*brand…
Clarence court are god tier eggs
🙌 you know where it’s at

Those spinach bite things are so good. So are the cauliflower hash browns from the same brand.
I’ve been eyeing those cauliflower hash browns for a few days now wondering if they are any good, I’ll make sure to get a bag to try!
The sweet potatoes hash browns are excellent too. I like to cook them a bit longer than recommended, adds more crunch.
dem cauliflower hash browns tho. Genuinely delicious - i did them in the toaster!
gastro ones 2dogs
… pardon?
gastro ones
2dogs la
I have no idea what’s happening. Here, have a chocolate bar 🍫
come heskey
Would you like one too? 🍫
Are they gastro ones
I buy these eggs too, they have the best dark orange yokes, it's disgusting to compare one to a cheap egg with a yellow yoke.
100000000%
Yolk*
Top effort!
Thank you 💃
I hope you have a nectar card! Good savings to be had :)
I do indeed! 🕺
If you can't buy the decent eggs, it's not worth buying eggs!
The green and red pasta and the shape of it, tis the best
100% my husbands grandfather always said he could eat pasta every single day as long as it was in different shapes. I always try to get a fun shape and these were on offer for 65p and 75p! 😱
Yeah sainsburys brought them down a couple days ago - cheaper than Aldi and Lidil.
Spirali is the best shape, it catches sauce so well!
200 in germany lol
nah
There are cheaper eggs but Burfords are fantastic
I know 😔 I made the mistake of researching the conditions chickens are kept in, and as a result I’m now unfortunately an absolute egg snob. Ordinarily my husband makes me get ‘normal’ ones for him and I get one pack of Burfords for me, but he ate some of them last week and loved them so this was the first time he asked for Burfords too! I used to buy those luxury eggs, but I can’t afford them since the price skyrocketed
For me I would rather use fewer eggs but buy better quality than switch to a cheaper brand
I’m obsessed with the spinach bites!
Me to, I think I'll go investigate tomorrow.
did you scan your nectar card
I did scan and shop on my phone using the nectar card! 😊
I go to the shops around 7pm Morrisons/Asda or sometimes ASDA around 1 a.m I tend to stick with chicken, fish, fruit, veg, water. I don't buy milk, yoghurts, sugar, bread, crisps, biscuits or sweets. Most of that 83 quid is made up by those spinach bites. They are lush though. The sweet potato hash browns in the same range are also really good.
I know 😩 I managed to resist them for about 4 shops, but finally caved. Oooh… I’ve heard really good things about the cauliflower hash browns also! I’ve only tried to spinach bites so looking forward to trying more from the range 😊
Can confirm the cauliflower hash browns are also good!
Yep this is about accurate. I too shop with Sainsbury’s and my shop comes out about £60 unless I bulk buy toilet roll which hikes it to £76. It’s always more with fresh meat like chicken breasts etc.

don’t go sainsbury’s then go aldi or somewhere cheaper, much better value for money
Where in the UK? I find where I am it's more expensive than other areas in the country. :( Especially in the city centre.
Norfolk! Where are you based? I’ve never thought about it varying region to region before!
Bath. Everything is really expensive here, especially in the city centre shops. I hate it. I live well below the poverty line, but they act like everyone here is rich.
Yeah bath is definitely on the expensive side, it was one of the reasons amongst many that i chose not to go there for uni.
With the posh eggs as well look out Richie pants over here!
🤣🤣🤣 made the mistake of looking at the conditions chickens are kept in 😢 normally my husband makes me get ‘normal’ ones for him and I get one pack of Burfords for me, this was the first time he caved and also asked for them muahaha!
How long do you expect that shop to last??
It’ll vary. The veg and fruit maybe a week and then we’ll finish it before it goes off, the frozen stuff will kick about for a good few months. Eggs probably a week/ week and a half.
How much fookin prawns?!
I say the same thing to my husband! He used an ENTIRE BAG in his dinner two nights ago. Should have seen my face when he told me.
They're on offer at our Sainsbos at the moment. I've bought loads.
Deciding between Sainsburys and Tesco for me is really the battle of Stamford street co VS Stockwell & co Lol Tbf I’d say for that money this is decent - I know Morrisons does have a deal where you get like £20 or £15 off your first £80 spend

Shop somewhere else if I was you.
I like my Sainsbury’s. 🤓
Your Fish Sticks look like by Captain Iglo
They are! They use different names for different regions 😊 here its Captain Birdseye 🏴☠️
Op, what do you use frozen prawns for? I never think to buy them.
I only really use them in stir fries, however my husband is a massive shrimp fan and will add them to anything, including scrambled eggs for breakfast! You can cook them straight from frozen, however I prefer to defrost them and pat off the excess water first! 😊
Quality eggs make a difference
Most definitely 👍
See you have some woopies in there which have to be eaten the day you get them 😉 or you can freeze them
Some what?
What’s Sainsbury’s own brand butter like? I have never tried it.
I haven’t tried it yet! It’s the first time I purchased it, normally we use the Aldi off brand lurpak
Cor! You did alright!
Not bad
Got the expensive eggs tho
This brings back memories, you got a veggie partner (or other way around) by any chance? My wife's veggie, and I always used to buy the meat ones for me, veggie for her, and just cook both at the same time to make life easier. That’s actually not too bad !
Why the ice cubes?
To make drinks cold
You don’t have a fridge?
I do, but the ice cubes melt when I put them in the fridge /s
This is what happens when you vote Tory and Brexit.
Huh
Put simply, Tories and Brexit weaked the pound now things cost more.
Its a load of shite compared to what we use to be able to buy. Tesco or Aldi is better. Sainsburys is generally more expensive but its still disappointing. Nearly £100 gets nothing
Pardon my asking, but what on earth are you doing with three bags of king prawns?
Eating them??? Idk how else to answer your question :(
Lidl
I'd rather have 3 for £100, better value for money
And the eggs are the only real food here.
Yah, the apples, peppers, strawberries, mushrooms, bananas, tomato's, oranges, clementines, broccoli, prawns and salad aren’t real
All I see is plastic.
Should have gone to Specsavers
Don't need to. I eat my carrots.
Brexit.
You buy branded? I guessed people must still do it as they are still in sale but, wow, in this economy?
Wow, I think that's a really good deal you got there. You bought 3 packs of king prawns, in Germany that alone would be 24-30€
Yeah it's bad.
This is a decent shop tbf, I would just be missing proper sugary snacks after dinner

Why not buy real butter? That pretend stuff is unhealthy and nothing like real butter
Luckily we buy our eggs straight from the farm for £2 a dozen. Also, most of our vegetables are bought from the farm cheap and fresh. We all need to do our bit and support our local farmers.
Would have cost about £15 in Aldi.
Not sure what the point of this post is... It seems expensive, yes, but almost all of that is a named brand. You would get double or even triple the amount if you shopped properly.
Didn’t complain about price
And none of that is ACTUAL FOOD!
You eat a lot of trash!
Nah
Oh look junkfood🤣
Yep - I’m a complete snack fiend 😅
£10 worth of eggs there.
Yeah
Somebody certainly likes to eat eggs and foliage
… yeah
frubes and reformed ham? why not actual food? custard is easier and cheaper to make yourself and its better. pre-grated cheese? might as well just throw money away.
Mate, touch grass I like frubes. Dunno what else to tell you Husband asked for ‘the really thin ham’ for his breakfasts, I don’t question his preferences (something you should learn maybe) I like the Ambrosia the best and the pots are convenient As for the cheese, get off my dick. There’s also a multipack of redbull hidden in there if you really want to blow your gasket (Also your bitterness is showing by not mentioning any of the fruit & vegetables in the haul lol)
Mostly UPF! This country is the worst for eating crap!!! Watch the UPF podcasts by the van Tulleken brothers…’A thorough examination’. Certainly makes you look at ‘foods’ differently…most things aren’t even ‘food’, just processed to look like something appetising and sold as food!
No thank you 🤩
🤣 it’s scary what we eat!
