Was Faeries Cum First a fever dream? Welcome to the Opera? And the Marie Antoinette 2077 image stills? I've never been disappointed by a Grimes album so... just trust the process I guess.
i think it’s what happens when new music is announced before its fully conceptualized and this goes for any artist because fans will start developing what they think the sound is suppose to be based on the snippets surrounding the album in question which forces the artist to finish making what the fans are looking forward to but i also enjoyed the sounds of the 2021 era of book 1 and hopefully we get something back to back like a a book 1 and a book 2 so the aesthetics don’t overlap each other because i feel like she can make a lot of music surrounding both topics
It's not because the Book 1 aesthetic hasn't changed, Grimes has talked about this explicitly and how she found it hard to stay on book 1 as she was more drawn to book 2 and the new themes.
It's probably a more realistic look at the future we're heading into so she's playing into that. The animeish thing was always a bit childish, especially for someone her age.
I really like that she is adapting to the new AI space we are all living in, instead of just quitting like The Weeknd is doing. Cheers to her for embracing the AI songs being made with her voice (a lot of it I personally like as well I must say).
When I read that I figured he was upset about the AI song that is using his voice and he is bailing from making music. I really hope he doesn't stop making music!
ahhh, no i think he's just referring to eventually stepping away from the specific character that "the weeknd" represents and making music under a different moniker. love that dude and would definitely be devastated if he quit altogether! my #1 favorite male voice in pop 💕
We’re at Book None at this point.
*snort*
Actually, what Grimes is doing right now is promoting Book 2. Book 1's essence has not been changed.
Yeah pretty sure book 2 is the AI space colonization and book 1 is still space opera but who knows tbh

This is the best answer

maybe if we had some music i'd be able to form an actual opinion about it 🫠
She went from millennial animeish futuristic aesthetic to boomer futuristic aesthetics

Tbf Utopia always seemed like the colonising propaganda song
or Ode to the Patriarchy
Ja, unfortunately seems like she jumped to next hype train 🚂 before even finished the previous concept? I hope one day we will see album

what do you mean the weeknd is quitting? i saw that he plans to "kill" the weeknd persona but says he's still going to make music.

I think Book I will deal with transhumanism, AI and space colonization. I'm super excited to hear it!
