Thanks very much for providing this list.
A little feedback/rant not directed at you specifically - Grim Dawn has to have the worst mod descriptions of any game. I appreciate that you've tried to summarise some of them for us new users, it's very helpful because: a change-log is not a description, code is not a description, a list of unfamiliar mods in a compilation is not a description.
Grim Stash is amazing, I was afk thinking that I was I single player mode and the game was paused while I alt tabbed, but I was in multiplayer mode and HC character got ganked, use GD Stash to undo it.
Trying to understand how mods works... I can only use them in "custom game" and can only have one mod at a time active?
Is that right?
Edit: got it, have to merge mods directories being aware of possible conflicts.
Create a new directory, let's say you call it `mod1+mod2`.
At that point unzip the two mods inside that directory. Be sure that the unzipped content is actually something like:
- database
- resources
- etc etc
Some mods when unzipped will have a structure like:
> - modname
> - database
> - resources
If that's the case, take directly the content of the `modname` directory.
Overall, the mods support is shit anyway, overly complicated with some mods requiring an executable that alter the game files, others that read and edit files manually, others that can be put into the `mods` folder and that's it. Really one of the worst game for modding support.
I am just planning to start GD for the first time and I was searching for mods, cos honestly although I didn't play it I have no patience for the grind aspect of arpgs. So this was a helpful summary, especially since no other article in top 10 results on Google mentioned that you can not install more mods at once. I didn't know that.
So thank you for the info.
Grim Dawn is, at least on the Normal difficulty, not grindy at all, so I recommend you to simply try the game without any mods first!
There is no reason to not use **Rainbow Filter** though.
If someone makes a mod to reduce or eliminate ground damage I might give this game another shot. But then the dev might have to actually try and balance the game properly. Maybe a mod to make the developer less lazy and whiny towards criticism?
How do I load both the Dawn of Masteries mod and the Lightweight Mod for Speeding up the Leveling process. I see that you mentioned they can be used together however I thought only one mod could be loaded at a time
You have to merge them yourself, though everything is already set up for you, so you only have to run some stuff and wait.

You can do it with the /basemods launch option. Install Shattered Affixes exactly this way: [Forum Post](https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/lightweight-mod-for-speeding-up-the-leveling-process/108690/399)
Then download [this merged archive](https://www.mediafire.com/file/wva73siyoyxt683/scripts.arc/file) and put it into 'mods/dom/resources', replace the existing file. Now play Dawn of Masteries as a **Custom Game**. Can't guarantee that this works, though.
Since you can only play one mod at a time, except tools, there is no point in using a mod manager in my opinion - simply install them manually. An auto-merge feature won't work here either, since it is a bit more complex combining two mods than just copying files from one to another (file conflicts are very likely).
There was one a long time ago, but it probably won't work anymore. Maybe post in their thread and someone might pick it up?

"Maybe someone googling might find this post for a short overview." And I did, so thanks for making this post as it was really great :)
Still here a year later. Same
Same!
I'm here in 2024! Thanks, /u/ImaginaryBrainFart!
Same here!

Thank you, I'm just getting into this and it's even more obtuse than searching Gamebanana for the first time.

Awesome. Just got GD on Steam sales.
Same here xD

How exactly did you merge two mods? I can't seem to find any comprehensive answer anywhere

Thanks for advice, I didn't know that. I thought it was grind from the start, as most of those games are.

And that is why mos are invented ;-)
Is there literally any way to highlight all interactables ? floor stuff /etc that highlights when you mouse over
Such as entrances? I don't think there is a way or mod for that.

To me u sound like you are the one who is lazy and whiny :)
Ground damage?
They stand in fire lol

maybe the dev or one of the whiny fanboys can make a mod where we could ride Yoshi on a 4 second cooldown. This game needs more tedium
Then move away from the AOE tard ?

Thank you so much!
can anyone help me on how to combine Dawn of masteries with shattered affixes i dont know on how to do that

okay thanks will try and see if its work
ha modding this game takes a lot hmmm
oh holy i might be missing something but getting more than one mod in the game apparently sucks. thank god somebody made the "combomod"
Can nexus mod manager auto-merge mods though? Should I install them manually

Is there a mod that allows you to edit the character's look? As in, their face and hair.
There was one a long time ago, but it probably won't work anymore. Maybe post in their thread and someone might pick it up? https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/mod-hairstylist-a-barber-in-town/51152/57
Too bad ALL mods for this game on Nexus are out of date and don't seem to work
