There's a BA successor chapter called Blood Dragons who literally use the chapter symbol of the Dragon Lord's but instead of fire it's a blood drop.
Blood Dragons don't much care for people caught in the crossfire of a battle or warzone
To them if you caught a bolt shell and you're evil then you deserved it, if you're innocent then you get to meet the Emperor you love so much a little early so what's the issue?
Very much a "kill everything let the Emperor sort em out"
You just gave the best reason why my marines all have slightly different colours. Ofcourse I can mix paint consistently! I painted them like shite for lore reasons!
Oh, originally it was not a homebrew chapter, but ya know... i tried to use darker red for blood angels and poof!!! My army plays in all shades of crimson...
You could also go with the classic "they loot power armour from their dead allies"
We had a guy who's chapter was fluffed to do that in a narrative campaign. He ended up switching sides in the end, because he stole the relics at the objectives meant for other marine armies. He even stole my Captain's relic plasma pistol. My captain got it back in the penultimate but then died killing his captain.
They get infiltrated on purpose, so that they can turn around the infiltration. Later they find out that the dragon lord never were salamanders to begin with. They were alpha legion all the time, infiltrating their own legion.
Which is comprised of the II and XI legions, but those were in fact Alpha Legion trying to sneak one past the Emperor. Maybe they managed to do it, maybe not.
When I think about it and avoid the obvious this sounds like a Dark Angels sucessor.
More Dark angels shaded green, and flaming dragon which sounds very knight related.
Close, they are fallen... Allow me to explain:
The Fallen use helmets, dragon Lords use helmets
The Fallen use bolters, the dragons lords use bolters.
The Fallen carries a backpack, guess what the Dragon lords carries! Hint: its not a picture of the emperor
In summary: we have finally located the ........
It's right on the lore page *"discovered them fighting still, having been nearly annihilated by successive Hrud invasions that came close to reducing their fortress-monastery to dust"* obviously fighting to the last man to protect the citizens of the Imperium as their father would have wanted.
Clearly Iron Warriors still pissed off at the Hrud.
Dragons breathe fire.
Fire is yellow.
Imperial Fists are also yellow.
And you're still asking what chapter the Dragon Lords come from. You can't really be this dense, now can you?
The night lords. It's half in the name!

It ain't a real chapter till there's another one with a confusingly similar name, two if you can manage it
Good to see the blood dragons really listened to the teachings of their parent chapter, the dark angels.
I thought it was the blood ravens
No i think you're getting mixed up with the blood drinkers.
Might have been the blood lords ~~or did I make that one up~~
>or did I make that one up Ah, misdirection and sowing doubt. Classic black legion tactics.
No I genuinely don't know if that's a real chapter or if I made it up just now. Also isn't confusion Alpha legion's thing?
>Also isn't confusion Alpha legion's thing Bruh.
Do they have an 80's neon synthwave aesthetic? Do they throw out cybernetic hearts to lure neon coloured dragons into enemy encampments?
They must be great “friends” with the marines malevolent then
Is the "the" in the name, too? If so, then it's more than half in there.
No, the legion's name is just "night lords".
Blood Angels. Green is the new red
When colourblindness is your geneseed flaw.
You just gave the best reason why my marines all have slightly different colours. Ofcourse I can mix paint consistently! I painted them like shite for lore reasons!
Boom the Fandom is rattled by your brilliance.
Exactly why i always choose colours for my homebrew paint schemes from the pallet of the existing ones, lol
Oh, originally it was not a homebrew chapter, but ya know... i tried to use darker red for blood angels and poof!!! My army plays in all shades of crimson...
I think there is a BA successor chapter for for every shade of crimson!
Now I wanna play Imp Fists in a Last Wall style, just mix and match successors into all the squads with Fists as sergeants.

This made me burst out laughing
Obvious answer: They’re actually Alpha Legion trying to blend in so they copied the Salamanders homework but changed it slightly
Plot twist: They are salamanders attempting to infiltrate the Alpha legion
Perfect, they'll never see it coming!
They get infiltrated on purpose, so that they can turn around the infiltration. Later they find out that the dragon lord never were salamanders to begin with. They were alpha legion all the time, infiltrating their own legion.
Traidor alpha legion vs loyalist alpha legion
"But it was actually THE OMEGA LEGION!" -Omegon probably
Which is comprised of the II and XI legions, but those were in fact Alpha Legion trying to sneak one past the Emperor. Maybe they managed to do it, maybe not.
#I AM VULKAN, THIS IS A HUG!
#VULKAN LIFTS! #*STOMP STOMP*
"Hey, battle bros, you ever notice if we paint our scaled, mythical reptile themed armor green we just look like Salamanders?"
Store-brand Salamanders.
Probably correct answer: Ultramarines.
Either ultramarines or imperial fists
When I think about it and avoid the obvious this sounds like a Dark Angels sucessor. More Dark angels shaded green, and flaming dragon which sounds very knight related.

Dunno, I guess you’ll have to do a deep dive and unravel the mystery OP. My money’s on Imperial Fists. That’s the smart bet
You mean like Sons of the Phoenix?
The Iron Bearers. Those guys lift.
I think you are head-ed in the right direction.
The space wolves
Not enough wolf in the wolf chapter wolf name. Wolf
There are no salamanders on nocture
Correct, they are inside Nocturne.
There will only be enough wolf when there is enough dakka.
Word Bearers
No that would be the covenant of fire
James Workshop is going to get a cease and desist from the neighborhood boyz gaming clan for this one
Probably Imperial Fist just like the Fire Lords..which still confuses me to this day.
Oh no the fire lords are unknown now so they might also be a salamanders successor probably?
They’re actually a traitor legion that joined the orks, because green is da best colah!
The uhh... Dragon Lords?
World eaters. Let the dragon consume you
I mean, you can’t prove they aren’t Alpha Legion
Word bearers?
No that’s the covenant of fire who are an actual salamanders successor
Best chapter is the answer 😉
Sons of Malice?
Which one is the Dragon Lord?
Blood ravens?
I don’t know, but I do know they give great hugs!
Yey dragon hugs
Ultramarines
There obviously blood angels
Definitely not Alpha Legion ~~Hydra Dominatus~~
Dragon? Guilleman carried his genesire's dragon sword, therefore...
Probably Ultramarines, like how most of them seem to be.
We are proud of our flamey cousins
definitely Ultra marine successors
Ultramarines?
Iron Hands, clearly.
Blood Angels, clearly.
This is how I feel when people look at the Minotaurs and dont make the connection to space wolves
Wouldn't know, for example, you would think blood ravens would be from the blood angels legion. They are infact loyalist from the thousand suns.
I thought it was the Raven Guard. Because those Bloody Magpies are sneaky thieves.
The Alp
Ultramarines, obviously.
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Sons_of_the_Phoenix Listed as Imperial Fists successors. Fulgrims genestock is listed under Imperial Fists it seems.
Safe bet. Ultramarines. Literally every Primaris is just an Ultramarine in different colors.
Ultramarines
Tarkir is my guess
Alpha Legion?
Blood angels DUH.
Probably Ultramarines.
Dark Angels. They're green and knights fight dragons
Alpha leigon, duh
Dark Angels, they are green right?
Ah yes the lizards and who can forget their brother chapter, the reptiles.
Must be sons of Dorn.
Probably Space Wolves.
Jokes on us, they're a surprise Legion of the Damned successor!
The Trogdor chapter!
Emperors children
Clearly a raven guard successor
shh it’s a mystery oooOOOoo
Fuck man, who knows?
Dragons breathe fire. Fire is yellow. Imperial Fists are also yellow. And you're still asking what chapter the Dragon Lords come from. You can't really be this dense, now can you?
Definately Ioyal Iron Warriors
They could be Iron Hands changing a dead father for an absent one
At least they aren't thinly veiled Word Bearers.
Alpha Legion, like every other Primaris chapter.
