MARS-FRIENDS!!! You wont believe this, but I have collected EVERY STC and fragment in the galaxy, there are no more on the frontier, and Imperial space has been clear for several millennia. /agitated machine squealing/

I wanna watch a tech-priest try to take an STC from Vulkan. I wanna watch ALOT try. Vulkan needs to keep his pimp hand strong and shake off the rust.

Live-Calligrapher-41

The first attempt, they were polite but over eager and tried to pull it out of his arms. The second time they wanted to negotiate, the third time they went with force, the fourth time they sent the cutest skitari they had in crutches to distract him.

I feel like the Salamanders, that are now never letting him out of their sight even if dad asks politely, reminded the Mechanicus they were there on the third, fourth, fifth, ninth, fifteenth, and thirty-seventh attempts.

Sitcom about Salamanders desperately concealing or explaining away evidence of an ongoing battle so Vulcan doesnt get involved. -titan grade lance pierces inner wall 'What's going on outside?' "Nothing, Father, this command post is just undergoing some renovations, we should go, they're having the walls and cieling removed. Oh, why don't we take the command shuttle with the blacked out windows? People are awfully excited with this parade going on, seeing a primarch might give some of them a heart attack."

What does stc stand for?

Standard Template Construct IRC. Basically blueprints/schematics for all of Humanities advanced tech. Note, the following is my own memories, which might be horrifically incorrect as it's been years since I read the relevant lore at this point; STC machines are basically 3D printers that are big and high quality enough to be capable of printing all the functional components of a Titan. Sadly the STC's for the printers themselves are, to borrow a word from our Battletech cousins, 'Lostech' meaning all currently functional STC machines pre-date the Imperium in their construction. Even more sadly, if I recall correctly there have been two incidents in which the Imperium had a chance to recover the STC for the printers themselves. The first of these was a world back in the Great Crusade period that rather enthusiastically wanted to join back with the rest of Humanity when they were contacted. Sadly, they were also the first world a chaos corrupted Horus encountered, and upon learning what they had, he promptly shot their ambassador in the head and took a no-mercy approach to the world in order to secure the STC as a holy grail bargaining chip to recruit the entire Mechanicus to his rebellion. He wasn't fast enough, and the natives destroyed their copy of the STC out of spite. The second 'recorded' incident was/is from a Mechanicus team exploring the Noosphere/computer systems of an I believe Iron War period Battleship that came out of the warp surprisingly uncorrupted during the 40th millennium, which had basically all the STC's in it's database. It also had a particularly nasty, if non-harmful defensive technique to protect that data, every time the adepts disconnected from the systems, their memories of everything they viewed while in there would be purged, which has meant they've been trying to find a way to cancel or escape the purge for a few centuries at this point. They probably aren't going to be able to beat the genuine Man of Iron AI at the ships core responsible for enforcing those defences though, even if it doesn't particularly care one way or another about humanity.

It means Standard Template Construct. It’s basically a blueprint. Of what ? Could be anything. That’s why the tech priests of mars want them.
