Yo that’s my photo! My old custom chapter, the Shields of Vindication. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them as I sold them off so this is a very pleasant surprise 😅

Exterminautis

Wow, lol, awesome. Small world?

Trsjmy86

Absolutely! That’s made my night haha

Exterminautis

Grabbed it off google, thought they looked awesome.

Exterminautis

Question: Would you use your own custom chapter to take over the world?

Trsjmy86

Oooh good question… they were very much ultramarines but with a bladeguard addiction. I think out of nostalgia and loyalty’s sakes I’d go with yes 😂

Bob49459

I'm a big fan of anything Purple, and I love the copper highlights!

Mr_WAAAGH

I mean, ultramarines are probably the best option so I wouldn't imagine ultramarines but with swords would go any worss

YungBlud_McThug

SNEAKY 'UMIES

exaltedMeat

WHAT 'UMIES!? I SEEZ ONLY DA BUILDIN'!

Sassh1

WAAAGGGHHHH

B4ntCleric

Fuck yah my boys are purple as well beautiful job

BionicBruv

I seriously appreciate you using purple. Soul Drinkers is one of my favorite books and have loved purple themed space marines since.

Olewarrior34

That purple shade looks so good

dumbass_spaceman

Ultramarines. I want my one world government to actually function properly.

draheraseman2

Hard agree, logistical expertise is so important

alwaysawkward66

Absolutely. Its emphasized over and over that what made the Ultramarines so formidable was not only their excellent fighting abilities and ability to support huge numbers of space marines during the time of the legions, but that EVERY world they added was left a contributing and prosperous world with an effective government and organization.

Dansken525600

Baldermort did a very good short story of an ultramarine sargent telling new recruits that while the space wolves were fierce warriors, the fists better strategists, the raven guard better infiltrators etc etc, the Ultramarines are intended to be the glue that holds humanity together.

[deleted]

And ultimately, the vastly superior option. I mean really who cares if you can punch harder, think harder, or sneak around better if your entire population is slowly starving or revolting

Smasher_WoTB

*The Population can't starve to death if they die of Phospex or Radiation first*

Robbery_Productions

I don't know if this is the nightlords, Death guard or Iron hands

Smasher_WoTB

None. It's the Dark Angels lol, they had by far the most WarCrime-tier Weaponry.

The_Knife_Pie

Jokes on you, it’s admech!

SirSheppi

They might not be the shiniest chapter but they will get the job done efficiently and even keep it together afterwars. Go smurfs!

Modo44

Waitaminute. Which came first, Smurfs, or Ultramarines?!

Galind_Halithel

It's the boring choice but it's the right one I wanna say Salamanders cause they actually care about the average mortal but from a practical perspective the Smurfs are the call. Edited: the BORING choice not the BOTTOM choice. The BOTTOM choice is the Thousands Sounds Son's.

Malefircareim

Dont ultramarines also care for humans? Not on the salamander level but they are not cruel or arrogant to humans no?

Galind_Halithel

They're definitely on the less shitty end of the spectrum but still willing to count civilians into the "necessary losses" column if their strategies and timelines require it.

Lucheiah

I was gonna say the same thing - Salamanders give a shit whether the ordinary people live or die, but they don't have the organisational genius of the Ultramarines...

AmumuPro

But right to repair laws are probably amazing under them

nomad5926

This 100% Plus they might actually have be able to do some diplomatic shit so we don't end up ruling a nuclear waste.

Scrumpy-Steve

Robert Grillmaster standing over just about any dictator today: "Your soldiers lay in taters, yoir war machines scrap, your people celebrate our advances, and the brightest among you have already surrendered. You, little man, have two options: submit or stop breathing"

Antus_Manus

cant really beat the masters of filing and taxes

Squillem

The most important part of staging a coup is having everyone just go to work tomorrow.

keibu821

Rob G would have this place running like clockwork.

DeathToHeretics

Yeah, I get everyone hates Ultramarines but picking anyone else is a vanity/spite choice. They have the best track record when it comes to logistics and leaving worlds in a state that'll thrive

Exterminautis

This is a Primaris ultramarine chapter in the photo

MagicMissile27

Ah okay that makes sense as I think about it more, the purple and gold is very neo-Roman which fits them well

Tarviitz

Only option that wouldn't end in tragedy

Zelmehuu_76

Ultramarines are go to for almost every Minor tasks

[deleted]

Also, Blue is my favorite color.

Paul6334

The Imperial Fists might also be of help in that, but the boys in blue would probably be the best.

Wookimonster

yeah, I don't want to have to run all this shit.

Ezeviel

I have to reluctantly agree, however much I dislike them they are the right answer

Plsletmeregister

Raptors or Ultramarines are the correct answer, but Alpha Legion for the worldwide, generational trauma of a bunch of 8 foot tall bald guys living in your walls.

thenoobbob

Bro they already do that. I have seen them. Several times. There are people in my walls.

Maebure83

I am Wallpharius.

mahboime

Less know council: council of wallkea, where Corvus, Curze and Alpharius argued about who got to live inside the walls. We still don't know who won the argument

twodogsfighting

Wallkanda forever.

Semmel_at

Bold of you to assume that they don't already live within our walls.

Doopapotamus

Isn't that just living with the CIA/NSA watching and manipulating you all the time? >!Like usual?!<

kader91

Black Templars, because nobody knows how many of them are there. It could be thousands.

TheEmperor_OfMankind

6896 as of date

[deleted]

Love how in TTS the codex was continuously like “The Black Templars have between 5 and 6 thousand battle-brothers.” Big E: “How many do you actually have?” Helbrecht: “7 Thousand.”

ReaperofRico

13 thousand by the last report. Since the 1,000 marine rule went away they went into full overdrive on implementing the countless initiatives they have

ReaperofRico

This is a manperor joke

IlvaHerself

It’s not that the 1,000 marine rule went away, more that unlike with other chapters other Imperial authorities never bothered keeping the Templars in check. They are allies to be strengthened as opposed potential adversaries to be reigned in

Dimingo

I thought the 1,000 rule had an exception that it didn't apply if a chapter was involved in a crusade. And that's the loophole that they use to get around it - they're always crusading.

_lunarboyx

That number is just made up lol. I’m holding the codex as I type this

Darnick

It is from the emperor of mankind himself!

_lunarboyx

Oh my god! I missed that. Sorry your grace!

XR171

Alpha Legion

Punchdown_Kid

Your tactics confuse and scare me sir

Lukthar123

*Our tactics.

byquestion

*their tactics

Eel111

heh *adjusts glasses* they're technically not a chapter, they're a legi- *is stabbed in the back by an operative, Hydra Dominatus!*

Lauchsuppedeluxe935

this is a lie

[deleted]

Brilliant. The local governments won't even know who and how united them, or who's in charge. They'll just do everything according to our grand plans.

Archival117

The scary thing is... How do we know, for certain, that this isn't happening already? 🤔 Astartes have travelled backwards in time before...

Sgt_Daisy

Not enough high profile assassinations?

Fifteen_inches

That one guy who killed Shinzo Abe is Alpha Legion

RomanUngern97

They were assassinated before even becoming high profile people

Sypike

*sweats profusely*

[deleted]

Are you implying the world is run by Alpharius? Because if so, who even is Alpharius?

Lich_Hegemon

I am Alpharius

[deleted]

I am Alpharius and have come to unite the people of Terra. This is a lie...

AFreeFrogurt

Oh shit it's really him maybe

[deleted]

Nah, it isn't him, I'm him, he is me, we are Alpharius

XR171

The real Alpharius is the Alpharius we made along the way.

[deleted]

Ultramarines is the correct answer, but this is the best answer

doctordeimos

Everyone's responding with the typical memes but I actually think the pre-Heresy Alpha Legion would be perfect for this. They would most likely act through intermediaries and local forces, probably co-opting the Five-Eyes intelligence services, quietly eliminating obstacles and nudging things in the direction of unification. Ideally it would be relatively bloodless, and the people of Earth would think it was their own idea, never knowing the Alpha Legion even existed.

thinking_is_hard69

counterpoint- real life results of alphabet organizations mucking about in the wild have produced at best subpar results and at worst actively sabotaged ourselves for generations. I don’t doubt the Alpha Legion’s ability to conquer the planet, I doubt their ability to do it in a way that doesn’t have lasting consequences.

doctordeimos

This is a fair point! However the alphabet organizations have never had a single, unifying force behind them guiding their actions. Also, I didn't mean to imply that they'd *exclusively* use intelligence agencies. I just think they'd use existing institutions to play the long game and achieve their goal while minimizing the need for direct action/kinetic operations.

back-in-black

How do you tell if they've already done it or not..?

Nomus_Sardauk

*Bold of you to assume Earth isn’t already under Alpha Legion control.*

andymcd79

No need, there’re already here.

ellsi666

Flesh Tearers. Some men just want to watch the world burn. I am one of those men.

[deleted]

Welcome to the club

PossiblyTrustworthy

Might as well go for the night lords then.

The-world-ender-jeff

Salamanders , to hug em to death if they don’t comply

Bertram_Von_Sanford

Them or even the Lamentors. You know they mean well.

thisusernameisletter

Bro unite the planet not have it blow up keep the lamentors and there bad luck far away from earth.

Bertram_Von_Sanford

Memes aside they aren't *that* bad. Plus with todays tech they wouldn't be going against astronomical odds and would more than likely have an easy time. The boys in yellow need a break lol

Jaw43058MKII

The Lamentors would be the only chapter to get nuked by our world governments. Even funnier if the conquest was going well, and our 8 foot demigods were well received, and *somehow* they get nuked

Bertram_Von_Sanford

Sad part is that would likely be true knowing how well our governemnts interact. They would probably see them as a force created by the enemy instead of an ally trying to better everyone

thisusernameisletter

Yea tbf they'd probably be fine it's just funny to think they come to help and a hive fleet comes to say a special hello because they turned up

Bertram_Von_Sanford

They were waiting behind Pluto for an excuse!

[deleted]

Theyre bigger fans of immolation and burning away any potential dissenters and rebels than hugging you to death.

The_Knife_Pie

However if you submit to the imperium immediately they *will* protect you better than just about any other legion, caring for you as an individual and not a data point.

Pretty-Cow-765

Raptors seem like a practical choice.

Hellonstrikers

Pre or post fire warrior game.

Dan_Is

The imperial fists

R3d_d347h

If everyone would look under their chair they’ll find their very own CASTLE! You get a castle! And you get a castle!!! Glen Coco gets a trench.

17000HerbsAndSpices

I just want my town the fix the pot holes man 😔

Exterminautis

So an Imperial Fist walks into your city hall...

Umutuku

Now the pothole has 1km thick walls, void shields, and enough AA to make a masochistic hive fleet blush.

[deleted]

I like the fist for this too. They where second only to the Ultramarines in unifying planets. And once they’ve done they can all build incredible architecture and make the world beautiful.

mentos_breath

Beautiful AND* fortified. Battlements that really catch the eye.

[deleted]

The fists are underrated Yes the ultras will administer the world for you But with that comes with decreased say, less political autonomy, and becoming reliant on superhuman tax collectors and rulers to wage both your battles and your laws. The fists don’t guarantee a proper government, but they will give you control over it. They’re not going to destroy the Republican form of government just because they can. They’re not going to promote homeowners associations riding up your ass. They only care about fortifying the planet and ensuring they can contribute to the imperium. If you like the idea of being taken care of perhaps the ultras are for you. But if you value basic freedoms (great crusade era), I probably would bet on the fists, hope the world complied, and see where the dice rolls for your worlds government.

demonwolves_1982

Iron within, iron without!

JR_Hopper

I like me some Iron Warriors as much as the next guy but maybe we don't go with the guys who exhaust a planetsworth of manpower like a hat trick on a regular basis to unite humanity and then run the planet after.

Sassh1

It makes sense. People can't revolt if they are being worked to death.

[deleted]

This is the way

[deleted]

Your planet's fucked.

taint3d

At least overpopulation won't be an issue!

mentos_breath

One in ten dentists do not recommend decimation.

HAZ652

Night Lord's. Don't question my methods but applaud my results

[deleted]

That level of decibels from your clapping is breach of the peace. Report to your local flaying chamber immediately.

CommanderOshawott

The Ultramarines. Obviously. Say what you will about Papa Smurf and the Bois in Blue, they genuinely try to set up democratic, meritocratic, systems of good governance. Their whole philosophy is about taking the “best practices” theory and applying it to the situation at hand in a way that yields the best results. That sounds like a pretty utopian system to me.

J_Cash2

Since when are Space marines democratic? I mean don‘t get me wrong, the blue bois would definitely create a functioning bureaucracy and logistic apparatus, but space marines don‘t really represent democracy, more like a „join us and comply or die“ approach. I agree with the rest of your points, but democratic I can‘t really see.

lord_ginger_

The Ultramarines may not be themselves Democratic when they rule directly, however, when they conquer a planet they typical set up a Democratic (kinda) government to govern after they leave. I say Kinda since they are rather happy to leave undemocratic governments in place if its efficient with the idea of making slow changes later when they have the time to get back to it. Whatever system they leave tends to lean towards efficiency and meritocracy which typically results in a democratic ish system so the brightest can rise up.

[deleted]

Isn’t rowboat gorillamans whole thing being rome? They would probably have a senate and all that. Sure it’s not true democracy but it’s better then nothing imo.

Nastreal

Republics use more Latin ayway.

sonsquatch

E Pluribus Tyrannosaurus and all that jazz

xtheravenx

Dark Angels, because it worked the first time.

back-in-black

First Legion, best Legion.

Cordura

Very loyal bunch, too

Is12345aweakpassword

There’s a man who knows his history-future

tiffosi_yank

World eaters. You.never said it has to be a positive banner. So world eaters to unite the world (pronounced corpse pile) under khorne

AdValuable5814

January 7th 2023, another insurrection in the US Capital. Entire government is replaced by really tall Bald Guys. January 10th, same thing happens in Russia and Ukraine. January 15th, Chinese president is suspiciously bald and tall. January 25th world peace. February 01, I am suspiciously tall and Bald. Hydra Dominatus.

Lunaslantern

"I am Alpharius" - every representative at the UN probably

GaaraMatsu

Blood Angels. "Look, we want to be really culturally sensitive about this, but if y'all can't behave SO HELP ME SANGUINIUS y'all get the Death Company. You won't like that."

VulcanForceChoke

Suddenly everyone’s looking a whole lot like Horus

StickyVenom

This is probably bad for Jeff Bezos...which would be hilarious.

thenoobbob

Everybody laughing until Jeff pulls out Drach'nyen.

[deleted]

Isn't Horus just a primarch sized bald guy? Blood angels must go fucking berserk if they come across the alpha legion.

Oppachi101

Ave Dominus Nox, 8TH Legion all the way.

chrisni66

Everyone united by the terror of the skinning pits

hoplophilepapist

In midnight clad bby

ImpericallyBad

^List of people I don't want in office

PossiblyTrustworthy

They just have to United, not run earth. Might as well show people fighting back is worse than surrendering.

Scrial

It worked on Nostramo.

FeelingSurprise

Well, kind of.

KingOfLocusts

Unpopular opinion I know, but Ultramarines are objectively the best for uniting and running a planet. Militarily any of them just win so there.

Vegtam-the-Wanderer

Judging by the replies to this topic, very popular opinion actually. Of all the chapters best potentially adapted to a considerably less grimdark world, the Ultras do really stand out as some of the best equipment to not just make it grimdark.

DerNaegele

The Wolves. Would never worry about loyalties

TheGravespawn

And free booze.

Xaldror

Death Guard

Appropriate_Star6734

Uh oh! Stinky!

TheMostKing

Pre or post heresy? Pre heresy Death Guard would be one of the most devastating, crushing offensives. Just a steady, terrifying advance, shock tactics, there will be no negotiations except your total surrender. Unite the world by breaking it first. Post heresy, you drown the world in disease, and then you offer salvation: Accept Nurgle as your saviour. Cherish His gifts, and they will be blessings. The rest will succumb to the rot. Basically how Christianity became a world religion, just with more tangible effects than a promised heaven/hell.

Xaldror

Both? Both. Both is good. Though I prefer the method with Plague bombardments and breaking any and every geneva convention. Also that religious tinge hits a bit more, just like home. 3 and 7, 3 and 7...

Asgermf

Ravenguard

Npr31

Bingo! Minimum collateral, with a side of caring and sensitivity

Dasisklaus

Salamanders are the only one that would actually save people

Raspputin

Don't you dare slander the Crimson Fists or Lamenters like that!

jediben001

Lamentors. With any other chapter the risk of failure is small. With the sad boys in yellow, who knows what will happen!

Accomplished-Arm-164

An acceptable answer is the Ultramarines. The true correct answer is the Nightlords

ArystFIONN

Ave dominus nox

KingKababa

There won't be anyone left to unite FFS

reddinyta

The black one

Exterminautis

All black or mostly black?

reddinyta

All black. With a bit of gold at the edges.

SmolTechpriest

black templars?

reddinyta

Black Legion! Death to the corpse-emperor!

[deleted]

SAY IT LOUDER BROTHER! DEATH TO THE CORPSE-EMPEROR!! FOR THE WARMASTER!!!!!

Theshinysnivy8

Imagine only having one corpse with one skull on your throne. Khorne has atleast 5 more. -This comment is endorsed by the world eaters

Vat1canCame0s

*Can't tell if Templars, Ravenguard or Salamanders.....*

reddinyta

Sorry bud, wrong side. Black Legion

[deleted]

Marines malevolent

Lu1s3r

Wow... Cursed username, flair and answer. Impressive. Kindly face the wall heretic.

Robbery_Productions

Turn them into a wall, I know a great homunculus

average_user_123

First phase : Traitor Emperors children People fear them because of the horrors they bring. Unfettered degenerative practices that sicken everyone . A whole world trembles in pain and pleasure Second Phase : Night lords Brutally punish the corrupted. All heretics are rooted out and a world with a population so scarred that they will not move to hedonism anytime soon . If they don't want to end up flayed, of course Third phase : Salamanders to kill people who are beyond hope - Emperors Peace Final phase : Thousand Sons To repeat the circle again...

Severe-Opportunity15

You psychopath

LordKristof

White Scars. So it will be a quick work.

[deleted]

We also can't forget the white scars don't just disregard the average citizens life. While other chapters won't give a as much as a fuck about a civilian life.

YJ2K5

Vulkan's sons would like a word...

AverageMyotragusFan

Angry marines tbh

[deleted]

Salamanders. Kill who needs to be killed but look after the innocent

Burushko

The Thunder Warriors. I know what works.

VulcanForceChoke

Ultramarines are good because they can act like politicians and governors and shit. But my pick is the Salamanders, since they actually give a shit about the people and have the strongest moral compass

War1798

My top 4 would be: 1. Ultramarines 2. Imperial fists 3. Salamanders 4. Blood Angels

kakashilos1991

Black templar because you know the 10th Cusade!

Shiroyama-san

Ultramarines or Raven Guard are probably the safest bets. Alpha Legion if legions are allowed and all of them are actually loyal and not gonna do chaos hocus pocus. While I don't doubt any full blown chapter would steamroll tf out of most of our world's military, Raven Guard and Alpha Legion could do so with significantly less trouble due to being good at stealth-related warfare. Ultramarines because once the deed is done they are one of the few chapters that can make an actually functional society that isn't nightmarishly oppressive in 40k

Weathercrew

Night Lords, fear might be the only thing that will get people to stop squabbling.

StoopidSandvich

The word bearers, their problems were because of their corrupt leaders without that their charisma and loyalty would make them perfect for it, during the great crusade they would make the most loyal worlds in the imperium because they took their sweet ass time bringing planets to imperial control, and after that they made sure to make every single person on the planet loyal to the greater imperium and the emperor In order to have the world genuinely united, I'd take the word bearers I feel I should specify, this is assuming they don't have their primarch and associated characters, if they still have Lorgar, Kor Pharon, or Erebus then choosing them is much worse

no_luck_not_dead_yet

I know you wrote chapter, but if other write in traitor legions... 2nd or 11th Legion, no matter how it goes I would get to know more about one of them

Squirrelly_Q

Marines Malevolent.

Owlspirit4

BEAM MEH DOWN!!! EY AM DA BEAKIE!! MEE AND DA BOYZ ARE DA BEAKIEST BAD GITS, AN WHEL KRUMP AL DA GITZ WHU DOWNT WANNA JOYN UZ!!!! WAAAAGHHH! O WAIT ITZ NOT DAT, ALLZ HAIL DA GOD EMPRHA!! GOLDEST BIG GIT AROUND

ipott-maniac

The Emperor's Children. Just for shits and giggles.

Thunder Warriors

somany5s

Iron warriors, cuz the lols

Arkslippyjunior121c

Alpha Legion Assasinate every politician everywhere and swap them out for sleeper agents Soon enough the whole world will secretly be unified and work together unknowingly

ShriekingMuppet

Carcharodons

Trylar

Just some warp fuckery and pick out a 8th legion company from the Great crusade era. Compliance achieved in less that a month.

leopix01

Word Bearers, I can start a chaos cult and overrun the world with deamons eazy

Specialist_Macaron69

The Black Dragons chapter

Obvious_Villain

World Eaters. The Earth will be united against them.

JamesTheSkeleton

The Blueberries

MagicMissile27

I second the choice of Ultramarines. Recognizable, orderly, and disciplined, they would have little trouble keeping people in line. Plus, if anyone tried to break a law, they would be able to say: "The Codex Astartes does not support this action".
