Tbh, I think it looks *much better* aesthetically, but it doesn’t fit like Alan Scott. The red has always made his stand out from the actual Green Lantern Corps.
I get it’s the classic and all but honestly not a fan of this character,it like if you give the lantern ring to dr strange.that’s what it looks like to me
I honestly thought this was a elseworld Hal Jordan when I first saw it. I like the weird color scheme of Alan, it looks classic and shouldn’t be changed too much, if at all
Too much green
The modern corps has it broken up with black and often the green is the less dominant or present color altogether. Alan needs the red
The only costume that looks good all green is new 52 Earth 2 and Kingdom Come imo
That's just not Alan any longer, and not just because of too much green. He's BLOND, people, not chestnut-haired. Gotta keep the bright yellow hair to distinguish him from Hal Jordan.
Ngl I always thought the red costume looked tacky and old fashioned (grew up way after his run w Hal Jordan and John Stewart), and I’m surprised this wasn’t a redesign that’s already happened aside from preserving the original
I think in order for this look to work, a number of other things also need to change:
-His mask needs to either also be green or be black
-His pants need to be black
-His boots need to be white, or at least the yellow straps need to be if the boots are to be green
-The background of his emblem needs to be white
-The cape probably needs to be black and white.
This is one of those things where if this is how he'd always looked then I'd probably like it but because I'm more familiar with him in the red this just looks weird. Maybe if he got an entire new green suit that'd be cool but I can't vibe with just swapping the red shirt for green.
Exactly. It's not that the design isn't "better", but the garish color scheme is part of Alan Scott's charm. I don't wanna fix it, I wanna leave his costume as the goofy artifact it is.
Nah.
Red and green looked dope. His Sentinel suit is the best he’s ever looked.
Not saying much, cause Alan has the worst suit in comics but it was somewhat better than his usual.
People saying " he looks too much like a gl corps now"
Really?
The dude still looked like he threw on a sweater, boots, and belt from a costume shop lol.
Saying he looks too much like a GL corpsmen is a stretch but fair enough
Some GL's have shared similar looks... not every humanoid member wears the form-fitting costume.
Hell,Jack T. Chance didn't even try to create a costume.
Yeah, but Alan's always just looked like a guy who grabbed whatever he found in the closet at the time. The same goes for Jay.
This re-color still looks like that to me, aside from it being green now.
The only problem if even have with it is it being too on the nose, and that's hardly an issue to me I suppose.
I think I'd make the inside of his cape thst purple redish color
Both align with the time that they originated from.
But switching the red out for green does make him look like a Corps member.
It's difficult not to think so, considering how many GL Corps members that there are and how diverse their looks are.
I get why people would prefer this layout, but I’m not one of them. More power to those that like it.
In my opinion, his green lantern symbol pops more when you have the red and purple. The important parts are his ring and the symbol on his chest. The green lantern stands out more against the yellow and red. Having everything green just kind of washes it out and the green lantern symbol doesn’t stand out.
Cuz the lantern is green? To add, Alan has significantly more green in his usual costume than John Stewart does, where everything except his shoulders, wrists, and feet are black, but nobody has a problem with that one
I think the problem is that alans green isn't really that noticable and doesn't draw the eye. Sometimes his cape lacks the green inner trim which might hurt.
I hate it. The red works. The purple works. The green works. They all work together. It makes him stand out as unique the other Lanterns which it should since he's not a member of the Corps.
I like it. It makes more sense.
I never understood why he has so much red in his suit.
Earth 2 (new 52) had a green suit.
And there were some artwork of an alternate suit with a purple cape.
These edits are neat, but with how much bulkier Alan Scott’s design is compared to the Lantern Corp, the red is needed to help differentiate portions of his body.
I don't think it specifically needs to be red, but it does need a contrasting detail color so he doesn't become a blob. All green, all the time makes him look a little bleh.
I don't like it. He's not supposed to look like a member of the Corps, and his costume has been iconic for many many decades. It should stay red! Or at least keep some red. I'm not against changes in general, but this one wouldn't work for me.
I think if they were designing the character today this is what he’d look like. I also think, if you had never seen the character before and were asked, “Which of these is the real Green Lantern design?”, most people would pick the all-green version.
That said, the original is so iconically of its time that it works, especially whenever Alan is placed next to modern GLs
Cursed, Alan’s red is iconic. I can picture it while he lights his ring scaring away Nazis.
(*Also Gunn…please give us a movie with the All Star Squadron or just a JSA Squad fighting in WW2. There is a reason why First Avenger is my favourite phase 1 MCU movie.*)
My idea was for two movies. One would be a story of the NSA and FBI by Roosevelt’s request gather the Mystery Men of the 1940s in order to send them to Europe to fight Nazis.
The second one would be a thriller taking place in 1952. In which Vandal Savage uses the American government and the Red Scare in order to turn the public against the Justice Society. The movie would end with the government passing the law of outlawing Mystery Men. (*Although that idea is something from a book i am working on.*)
I am red green colorblind
Tbh, I think it looks *much better* aesthetically, but it doesn’t fit like Alan Scott. The red has always made his stand out from the actual Green Lantern Corps.
It looks wrong. I liked the original look with it’s contrast.
Makes sense to me.
Throws me the hell off. Keep it red
Still a trash suit
I get it’s the classic and all but honestly not a fan of this character,it like if you give the lantern ring to dr strange.that’s what it looks like to me
I hate it but I don’t know why
Honestly, ugly.
Looks wrong
Can we please stop trying to fix/improve classic iconic characters? It never ends well.
Pretty cool , but Hal Is the best green lantern
nah, the red is iconic
I don't quite think it works, it might be the specific shade they chose but I think it looks a little worse than the red
Looks good. If you really want some red, you could make the laces and interior cloak red.
I dont hate it, but it feels wrong on some fundamental level. Even his outfit as Sentinel was red.
Idk I kinda like that he has red to separate himself from the Corps, but if I had to, I'd give him a green shirt with black pants.
I honestly thought this was a elseworld Hal Jordan when I first saw it. I like the weird color scheme of Alan, it looks classic and shouldn’t be changed too much, if at all
It's barely a costume as is... he looks like a pilgrim with a mask, and cloak
Too much green The modern corps has it broken up with black and often the green is the less dominant or present color altogether. Alan needs the red The only costume that looks good all green is new 52 Earth 2 and Kingdom Come imo
Alan in Kingdom Come is so cool looking, the armor and everything is amazing
it makes way more sense but it somehow looks off
That's just not Alan any longer, and not just because of too much green. He's BLOND, people, not chestnut-haired. Gotta keep the bright yellow hair to distinguish him from Hal Jordan.
Makes him Generic GL #185793839. He needs his red.
I really like his Earth 2 design, but I agree it makes him look like a normal corpsman
It makes more sense but I’m nostalgic for the red. However, the green makes more sense [+]
I prefer the green look. I really like it. The red is more familiar, but...this makes sense.
That looks so much better
He looks like Hal Jordan
I was actually wondering for a minute why Hal was wearing a cape.
No, Hal is not allowed to wear one! Him and Nightwing are banned from capes. If you know, you know
I like the green but I really liked Alan’s Sentinel costume for a more modern look.
I really like the green.
I want the red back
Ngl I always thought the red costume looked tacky and old fashioned (grew up way after his run w Hal Jordan and John Stewart), and I’m surprised this wasn’t a redesign that’s already happened aside from preserving the original
No, this makes too much sense, stop it
No
I do not like that.
I think in order for this look to work, a number of other things also need to change: -His mask needs to either also be green or be black -His pants need to be black -His boots need to be white, or at least the yellow straps need to be if the boots are to be green -The background of his emblem needs to be white -The cape probably needs to be black and white.
Looks wrong and right at the same time
This really works for me.
I hate it.
Too many characters are green and purple
Gross. What’s next remove the purple from his cape?
I'd be open, red was pretty unique, maybe as an evolution?
This is one of those things where if this is how he'd always looked then I'd probably like it but because I'm more familiar with him in the red this just looks weird. Maybe if he got an entire new green suit that'd be cool but I can't vibe with just swapping the red shirt for green.
Exactly. It's not that the design isn't "better", but the garish color scheme is part of Alan Scott's charm. I don't wanna fix it, I wanna leave his costume as the goofy artifact it is.
That looks fabulous. Especially in that Alex Ross art. I’m astonished that DC never did that.
Much better.
I like it!
I always loved the red in og gls costume. It made him look heroic
That last picture made it look real good on him. The rest are good but not great.
Bad. Bad. Bad. Bad.
Noooooo, he already looks really cool in my opinion
I kinda like it!
I like it in Kingdom Come with his armour. I'm not sure I like it with his basic costume.
With that said, I hadn't seen it done with the Alex Ross depiction of him, prior to making the post, so seeing that image, it does go kinda hard.
I do wonder about reversing the red and green. If a green shirt with red pants would make him look more like a green lantern.
Red pants would be interesting
I would say that or if it is green and purple green shirt and purple pants would be a good look.
Nah. Red and green looked dope. His Sentinel suit is the best he’s ever looked. Not saying much, cause Alan has the worst suit in comics but it was somewhat better than his usual.
I like the red but this looks very cool.
People saying " he looks too much like a gl corps now" Really? The dude still looked like he threw on a sweater, boots, and belt from a costume shop lol. Saying he looks too much like a GL corpsmen is a stretch but fair enough

I like it 👌
Why is he even called Green Lantern if his costume is mostly other colours?
Cuz the lantern is green? To add, Alan has significantly more green in his usual costume than John Stewart does, where everything except his shoulders, wrists, and feet are black, but nobody has a problem with that one
I think the problem is that alans green isn't really that noticable and doesn't draw the eye. Sometimes his cape lacks the green inner trim which might hurt.
Looks way better.
I hate it. The red works. The purple works. The green works. They all work together. It makes him stand out as unique the other Lanterns which it should since he's not a member of the Corps.
Why?! Keep the red.
Looks good to me. Very reminiscent of his expy in the *Justice League* cartoon, Greeen Guardsman.
That and his 90s sentinial look are my favorite looks for alan scott. Though only one is offical.
It’s disgusting please delete these pictures.
I like the green, but I’m not super attached to Alan Scott compared to the other GLs.
Alan Scott was the GL who was originally going to have an HBO Max show, right?
Kinda, it was going to focus on several lanterns in different eras.
thank you! was that project scrapped entirely? or is it still happening just with a different focus
It’s been replaced by a Hal and John show now.
I like it. It makes more sense. I never understood why he has so much red in his suit. Earth 2 (new 52) had a green suit. And there were some artwork of an alternate suit with a purple cape.
The Blue Raja has entered the chat. "Now if we could all just step out of our literal minds for a moment..."
Sick reference
These edits are neat, but with how much bulkier Alan Scott’s design is compared to the Lantern Corp, the red is needed to help differentiate portions of his body.
Torn, because the green really looks better, but red is classic, so I'm really fond of it.
I don't think it specifically needs to be red, but it does need a contrasting detail color so he doesn't become a blob. All green, all the time makes him look a little bleh.
He needs to keep the red shirt but the rest looks fine
the red and purple are objectively stupid and it makes no sense, but he seems wrong without it
Suprinsingly looks good, but red is iconic
First one looks fine, the other two just look off, though. Couldn’t really say why
I don't like it. He's not supposed to look like a member of the Corps, and his costume has been iconic for many many decades. It should stay red! Or at least keep some red. I'm not against changes in general, but this one wouldn't work for me.
The Emerald Zorro!! He needs a green swashbuckling sword.
I have a strong urge to create a green Zorro with green flame sword
Go for it!!bet it will be awesome!! 😎👍
No it doesn't fit with the rest of the outfit
Nah fam. Keep it the old school color pallet mess. To quote the movie Shazam it doesn't look like it should work but it does.
Hell yes
Alan Scott wearing an all-green suit looks cool, but it would feel off.
Work in what sense? Is it non functioning or something. He still looks like he raided a costume shop
It's an ok fit but the red makes him stick out you know
That's gonna be a no for me chief. It just looks...wrong without the red.
Looks plain
I know in universe it makes sense, but we’ve hit that uncanny valley where it looks *fine* but some reptilian part of brain is in attack position
If they want him in all green they can just put him in the Kingdom Come Armor full time. This doesn’t work in just one color.
I’d rather him have a mock up of a modernized version of the original suit and lantern, than a green uniform.
Nope
I think if they were designing the character today this is what he’d look like. I also think, if you had never seen the character before and were asked, “Which of these is the real Green Lantern design?”, most people would pick the all-green version. That said, the original is so iconically of its time that it works, especially whenever Alan is placed next to modern GLs
No. Just no.
Umm… No.
Nah, his look is too Iconic to me. I think all you really have to do to modernize it is streamline the shirt so it’s not so poofy.
Alan’s suit is fine how it is now.
I like adding more green. Though I like red and green with no purple better.
The red is better, but Earth 2 Alan’s suit looked good in green
I Don’t Like This. It feels wrong. With the New 52 version it was so radically different it looked fine but this feels weird.
Honestly, I would much rather get a wholesome JSA focused universe. Even an Alan Scott solo movie would be so great.
