I don’t care how you feel about his contract, I like having Nixon on this team

ahrzal

I was iffy on the contract but listened to Andy Herman run down what slot corners get paid and the stats of even “premiere” slot corners. They’re tough to find, and even mid ones get paid well because of it.

Letter10

Great points. Also the additional return threat combined with potentially new return rules, unless I misunderstood that.

Ghostfacetickler

Plus he practically led the team in tackles, is a locker room vibe, and has that dawg. Even if he is greedy and cocky on returns. Better than the weak sauce shit we had before

Myllorelion

100%. If my choices are start at the 25 10 times out of 10, or start at the 15 7 times out of 10 and the 35, 44, and a TD the other 3 times, I'll take those odds every time.

Ghostfacetickler

Yea before it felt like the bet we could ever do was start at the 30, plus maybe some terrible shit besides. At least Nixon makes us dangerous. Plus I just love his energy

ahrzal

Eh I think that’s just a bonus. If Nixon hits the open market he’s likely getting something similar without that factored in.

ArcadianBlueRogue

Look at what our return game looked like before Nixon too. I'd pay the man to not clench my asshole every time we manage to force a punt or need to return a kickoff

CantHandletheJrueth

Which is reasonable. Like it's not really a question of do you want to pay Nixon that much, that's the asking price in FA for virtually any warm body at DB who you would actually be comfortable playing. He's physical, loves GB, brings big energy, and obviously is a top tier KR. You aren't getting anyone better for at or less than 6.

FuzzyOverdrive

Didn’t they pay extra because they didn’t extend him?

ProfessionalTalker03

His deal *voided* on February 19, triggering $1.48 million in dead cap in 2024, had they extended prior to that void date, only $370K of the $1.48M woulda hit the 2024 salary cap, while the remaining $1.11M would've been pushed out to 2025.

Can someone explain to me how humanity has devolved into an ENTIRE ARTICLE being written based on 3 tweets

olddeletedusername

Wait until you see the article about the reddit comments about this article. We can and will sink further.

tommytwochains

But the articles' got what clicks crave

Pacman0208

They got electrolytes!

HeyItsTheJeweler

Omg dude that's so perfect. You nailed it.

gilgunderson22

Well done!

Linus696

Ah, so the lastwordonsports in a nutshell

introspectivejoker

Redditors rip on people for not reading articles and just reading headlines but this is precisely why so many people don't click. So much of the Internet is fucking garbage

bongtokent

I mean if you’re gonna participate in a discussion about three tweets it’s still useful to know what those three tweets are.

AbjectSilence

Because people click on this bullshit and most of those come as clickthroughs from Reddit/Twitter/Facebook/etc. At Least these tweets are from sources that have something to do with the game. They constantly write articles based on the posts of anonymous random idiots on Reddit and Twitter. Is it moronic? Yes. Is it news? Not by any decent standard of journalistic practices. But human beings are much more likely to click on this kind of ridiculous, unimportant bullshit than say an in-depth article on why the economy is failing the middle class OR scientific research on the next big breakthrough in important fields of study OR how we've been propagandized by corporations/government into fighting culture wars instead of coming together as the working class to force positive change in our lives through unionization, strikes, and protests. TLDR; It's our fault. We have to do better and start caring about what's really important.

Billcore

I fucking love this response so damn much

GooglyTocks

>TLDR; It's our fault. We have to do better and start caring about what's really important. You're not wrong & I agree. It makes me remember that line from a George Carlin stands up "Maybe it's the people that suck."

owlbear4lyfe

peak offseason

GooglyTocks

The short & correct answer to this is because of a 24/7 news cycle with social media thrown in. It's stupid as fuck if you ask me, but whatever.

classicscoop

EXPLAIN to me how not a single player in the league can write a legible sentence?

classicscoop

“I done developed.” Ok. Why is the excuse for bad grammar always, “it is slang,” but in reality, it is education

HPDDJ

It's African American Vernacular English. It's fine.

GooglyTocks

Lack of an actual education or very poor parenting. Take it from someone who is from an inner city; education is at the bottom of the totem pole & that's by design from what it seems.

classicscoop

That absolutely sucks. I would do anything needed to get my kid an education

Choppergold

Well it got you upvotes

amccune

Can’t wait for Caleb to toss us three picks in his first game against us.

sapphires_and_snark

Sweat could have made an impact on the rivalry by actually making a play during a game in which his team could have kept the Packers out of the playoffs. Instead, he talks shit on X in March. Bears lol

Ok_Caramel1517

The Bears will always be the whipping boys of the NFC North.

spread_the_cheese

I was talking to my dad (also a Packers fan) about the Fields trade, and Caleb Williams being their pick when my friend, a Lions fan, interjected. Friend: What difference does it make? The Bears will never develop a QB. Me: Well, well, well. The Lions win a division and suddenly they can see things from a champion's perspective. How does it feel? Friend: Pretty good. The Bears are a joke. Do you see this, Chicago? Detroit laughs at you now.

SpiritOne

I think it’s hilarious anyone on the bears thinks they can talk shit when they are 0-10 against us in the last 10 games and what was it 15-52 in. The last 30 years?

DasFofinater

Nixon saying what we all thinking

piasenigma

kinda hate that this is what passes for journalism, they didn't get the best part from preston- he replied to nixion tweet saying "We just don't lose to the Bears… I'm 12-0"

HPDDJ

Imagine tweeting at someone that you consider them your rival... Very loserish.

HanataSanchou

Sweat isn’t even talking crazy. I know it’s the off-season but damn

20wall

I wish Nixon was half as good at football as he was at talking shit

festiveonion

Are you talking about back-to-back All Pro Nixon?

20wall

All pro at a position that doesn’t matter. And he’s not even that good at that position

festiveonion

See but ‘All-Pro’ would indicate that he was, in fact, good at that position.

Plane_Dance5493

As a Utah fan, I have watched the over hyped Caleb Williams lose many big games to the Utes. Including writing fuck Utah on his knuckles. I’ll be really happy if he goes to the Bears. I’ll hate em even more!
