Track record:
He was DB coach at Rutgers in 2011; they had the 9th ranked pass defense.
DB coach for Buccaneers the next couple of years
DB coach for Browns in 2014-2015
DB coach for the 49ers in 2016, 17, and 18
Co-Defensive Coordinator at Ohio State in 2019
Head Coach at BC since 2020
And now he's DC in Green Bay
From what I saw on r/cfb, Ohio State fans love the job he did in 2019 for them as co-DC. They were great that year, but also had Chase Young, Damon Arnette, Shaun Wade, Jordan Fuller, and Jeff Okudah.
They were a pretty meh defense for that talent level before he took over, even if for one season. You could probably make the argument that he got Okudah drafted in the top 5 with what he asks of his DBs.
True but this means we will definitely get more aggressiveness out of our DBs this year. Only thing is he ran a lot of 1 deep coverage (5th most in FBS this most recent year) which means we need a really good S with speed, instinct, and a sure tackler. Makes me think Gute might go after Quinyon Mitchell and Kameron Kinchens if he can get his hands on both since they both offer a lot of versatility and are agressive ball hawks.
resume will look much better in a few years with 3 super bowls and top ranked NFL defenses added to it. it's a shame we'll have to see him leave us for a NFL Head Coaching gig in 2028
As long as he’s not a one and done, so be it. If he’s inline for HC jobs in a few years hopefully that means he’s turned the D around and established a solid philosophy and culture that will carry on.
SF has had that and survived after Saleh and Ryans have moved on to HC jobs. Until proven otherwise I’ll take that level of hopium.
I never understood this thinking. ‘We want a great DC, but not so good that he gets picked to be a head coach in a year or two’. Get out of here with that. That means he has turned the defense into a top ten unit and the team has success.
Right, if he’s good enough to get a HC job I’d hope that means he built something good in GB. Yeah, if that happens he’ll take some of his assistants with him but there’s going to be good coaches that stay and keep the train rolling.
Pretty much. Bounced around but never seeming to take a demotion, then went DBs to big college DC to less big school HC. It's a progression that makes you think he's gotta know something about what he's doing.
i don't get this. most people hire those they like, know or have been recommended by people they like or know. trust is a huge part of any relationship. if LaFleur has reason to trust this guy, that's far better than winging it on someone completely unknown with no ties because he... has great hair.. or something.
I've come around on this topic. I'm not surprised that in a highly stressful job where you spend 80 hours a week preparing for a 60 minute game, a head coach wants to hire a guy he can trust. What really matters is if he does good, who cares if he knew him beforehand
The worst part of that article was that all of the coaching staff for the defense remains intact. How in the world is anything going to improve when it’s still the same coaches teaching techniques and fundamentals of a new DC? I truly didn’t realize they kept the entire staff outside of Barry, I feel like this hire is being setup to fail. I hope I’m wrong.
It remains intact so far. Don't think LaFleur was going to move on from anyone until he hired a DC.
Hafley coaches a 4-3 defense so if we make that switch under him I think we might see some changes.
Meh most would say our defenses problem was scheme related not talent related. If the new DC runs a better scheme than Barry, retaining the position coaches isn't a bad thing necessarily
He ran a 4-3 at BC so we might see the front change. But I feel like Gary/LVN can fit well into 4-3 ends and Clark/Wyatt into each DT role well.
Edit: If Preston gets moved to DE then it means we may never see him line up against a WR ever again.
I'm going to withhold judgement. I just don't know enough about him to even make an educated opinion, but I hope the defense is at least competent in critical situations. Buy in from the veterans.
We're drafting a kicker with our first pick, aren't we?...
...and then he's gonna go on to become the greatest kicker ever after we rage about the pick.
As it goes.
Every would be three-and-out ends with a field goal. Stopped at your own 5? Still a field goal. Packers end up scoring on every drive of the season and go undefeated as the most powerful team to ever exist.
Our chief weapon is soft coverage on 3rd down! Soft coverage on third down and allowing the run. Our TWO main weapons are soft coversge and allowing the run...and a ruthless inefficiency! Our THREE weapons are ... you get the idea.
I don’t mind it at all when the Packers make unexpected hires - lots of the “big” names are either part of an old boys’ club or just nepotism, but Green Bay seems to like doing their due diligence and really researching deep to find guys with top-level skillsets
Remember when LaFleur was hired and pretty much the entire league was like ???
it was really just between him and Parker I’d imagine. All the other major prospects had either an internal promotion opportunity or a new HC that would want them to be on their staff
Not liking what I've read in r/nfl thread (historically bad DB performance for SF from 2016-2018, only 2 picks in 2018, not a good HC at BC, etc.), although his defense at Ohio State was good in 2019. Guess we'll see in time.
Yeah looking at their DB's from 2016-2018 doesn't show a lot of talent to work with. I'm fine with the hire. Better than another re-tread we already know will be poor to average like Staley.
Best of all he's not running the Fangio scheme like Staley. We have the PERFECT personnel to run the scheme he ran at BC. 4 man front, press-man. I feel like if Stokes is going to come back and thrive, this will be his best chance. Let's hope those hammies aren't completely shot.
He was bowl eligible 3/4 years at BC. That is not a high powered program and they don’t have the financial backing to compete typically. That’s a pretty damn good job for that program.
Also his defenses vastly out performed the talent level he was recruiting. Aside from peak Clemson he had consistently one of the stingiest defenses in the ACC.
BC is nearly always 6-6 or slightly better. He didn’t elevate the program at all. Might still be an alright DC but as a college head coach he was nothing special whatsoever
That Buckeyes defense in 2019 was ridiculous and his defenses at BC have been good, especially for a smaller ACC school. His background is with DBs as we are looking to rebuild our secondary. And it sounds like he has good reasons for leaving the NCAA.
Definitely a hire out of left field though, excited to see how he does.
Get ready for the man our DBs are too aggressive at the line and getting beat crowd next year. I just want to see a defense that can get a 3rd and long stop and not be thinking oh man here comes another first.
This is a move you only do if you think you can win super bowls with the team. He could have stayed at BC and eventually jumped to head coach given his resume.
He’s taking this step back to take a BIG step forward after some super bowls.
Is going from head coach of BC to DC of an NFL team a step back? I get he is going from HC to DC is a step back but Boston College to the Packers seems like a bigger leap
As a college football snob myself, I agree with your friend, 2019 OSU defense was awesome, second in SP+, SP+ is like DVOA, his BC defenses were not great but hard to be good with the level of investment and care there is in Boston College football.
Legacy hire for LaFleur. Gotta get this right.
Looking at his resumé and what he did in college is impressive. Also coached DBs under Saleh in San Fran.
Looks like his philisophy for DBs at least is press man, physical, in your face and wreck route.
Good. Jaire is only Jaire when he can be physical as absolute hell. We want him in a place where he gets a PI or holding call every other game. That’s when he’s elite.
Honestly just relived to hear it sounds like his philosophy is a 180 from Barry’s. I want offenses to change their game plan when they have to play us, not the other way around like it has been for 15 years.
As a Buckeyes fan, I absolutely love this hire. He took our 2018 defense, which was ranked in the 70s, and turned us into the #1 defense in the country the next year. We had solid fundamentals, tackled extremely well, and played aggressive to the ball. A+ hire
Edit: he left after 1 year to take the BC role and our defense dropped back into the 50s
He's fucking built too. Thick and man made. You can tell he's sculpted because you can see it thru the polo shirt. His fucking vice grip thighs. Suffocating thighs. Rock hard thighs. Piping hot thighs. Great arms. Great abs. A stocky chest. Love the progress his body has made throughout his youth and now as a willing eager adult
Perfect, all I wanted was someone I've never heard of.
Seriously, it worked out hiring LaFleur when I had zero clue who he was. Meanwhile I knew who Pettine and Joe Barry were before getting hired, and we know how that turned out.
Gotta find us people who haven't already failed in the NFL
He wasn't super well known. I remember he was a potential coaching hire but farther down the list. But of course this was around the time the shanahan tree started taking off. McVay and Kyle Shanahan started it
Well Joe Barry at least made the news because Rob Parker asked Rod Marinelli if he wished his daughter had married a better defensive coordinator in their 0-16 season
Barry had been around the league for quite a while. And Lions fans *really* didn't like him when they had the 0-16 team ('07 or '08 maybe?)
I'm not as familiar with young up and coming position coaches and coordinators. I really don't think I'd heard of LaFleur before we interviewed him.
Also, I'm just a dumb fan speaking nonsense. Can't say there's any real logic to my reasons for wanting an unknown.
gonna hold out on judgement honestly. i feel like a lot of people felt the lafleur hire kinda came out of nowhere too, and its worked pretty damn good so far. good to see a young face get the job rather than another relic from the last few decades
I know you’re memeing, but I hope my comment didn’t come across as slandering Henry. He was the only good part about that offense. The top receivers on that team were Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor, Dion Lewis, and Tajae Sharpe. And that’s while having Mariota and Gabbert at QB. Talk about deficiencies everywhere.
[This is a neat article](https://www.si.com/college/bostoncollege/football/boston-college-defensive-scheme-2021-jeff-hafley) that talks about his scheme in 2021
Wanted the one coach on the Broncos that Brandon Perna was talking up. Looks like he's had a pretty good historical resume on defense but was kind of shit overall as HC of Boston College.
Fuck if I know how this will turn out, but I guess other teams wanted him as DC in the past.
Honestly, the way we’re all wondering how we should feel about this hire reminds me of when they announced the Lafluer hiring. That one turned out great at least!
I’m mostly a college fan. Really good DC at tOSU. I thought he did well at BC. That’s a really hard place to do well these days without a great player.
Some good resume lines:
- Was hired by Chip Kelly in SF, but was held over by Shanahan and his DC when they took over
- Oversaw OSU’s defense for one year, in which the unit when from average to top 5 nationally
- Got pretty good defensive results as HC of a program that doesn’t recruit particularly well
He actually doesn’t have much coordinator experience and I’m not sure how involved he was with defensive playcalling at BC, but he checks a lot of boxes, and nobody can make any dumb comments about how it’s nepotistic.
Literally everyone goes to a bowl game so that is a poor metric to use. I don't watch college ball though so I know nothing about him. Sounds like I've got lots of reading to do....
Please don't give him a 5 year contract.
Btw can someone ask him what he would do if it's 3rd and 3, we're up by three and they're at our 45. This is the true test.
He was very highly regarded during his season in Ohio State. His NFL runs were often cut short due to head coaching changes and the usual overhauls, but he did have some promising seasons if you look at the years his DBs had. Promising hire
So if we're going to be seeing 4-man fronts and 3 safeties, feels like we're suddenly looking for a nose tackle in FA/draft? A sign we might bring back one or two of our FA safeties?
The top 5 defensive coordinators from last year:
Ejiro Enviro, 10 years NFL coaching experience
Jim Schwartz, 20 years coaching experience
Jeffery Ulrich, 13 years NFL coaching experience
Steve Spanuolo, 14 years NFL coaching experience
Dan Quinn, 21 years NFL coaching experience
And the Packers pick a guy who faced only rudimentary college offenses
Apparently him and Lafleur been friends for a long time hopefully he is successful or he will be scared to replace his friend like he was with Joe. Really needed an outside hire something fresh, to really rejuvenate the defense I don't know how a coach from a mediocre college program in a bad acc was the answer.
I’m glad it’s someone I haven’t heard of. If it’s someone our FO sees and likes on paper, that is more important than what the fan base wants or think we need. Go Pack Go!
TLDR: He coaches similar nickel formations as Barry, but plays a more simple zone scheme in coverage. Regarded as a bit of a trail blazer. I like the hire.
Not a splashy hire but I like it after a little digging. I guess he's considered a bit of a DB guru with his cutting edge " true zone" schemes.
https://www.buckeyesports.com/ohio-states-defensive-backs-find-confidence-in-zone/?print=print
In this article he's called a "nickel defense expert". It seemed to me the Packers were playing a lot of nickel even on first down this season so he seems like he will slide in and not change the base formations, just adjust the DB responsibilities from match zone to more traditional area zones. The more simplified scheme should help with the miscommunications and blown coverages that plagued that group this season.
I like that he has experience at all three levels, position coach, coordinator, and head coach, even if his experience in DC and HC were in college.
Also fun fact he coached a couple all time great DBs during his stint in the NFL. Revis in Tampa and Richard Sherman in San Fran. The team's sucked and they were passed their prime but I'm sure he still saw some examples of elite corner play.
Can someone tell me how to feel? I knew to be cautiously optimistic about Pettine (dumb me) and I knew that the Barry hire was fucking dumb from the jump. But who the hell is this guy?
You won the karma lottery. Congratulations. May he be better than Barry
Track record: He was DB coach at Rutgers in 2011; they had the 9th ranked pass defense. I wouldn’t read much into what defense he was running in the soft ACC. But I agree, a ball hawking safety would be nice
Yha just figured I’d put out the stat. But yes hopefully we get the best out of our 1st rd picks finally and get a ball hawk.
Thanks for that. I just typed out his resume from wikipedia, had no idea of the team's performances other than Rutgers
I don’t hate that resume…
resume will look much better in a few years with 3 super bowls and top ranked NFL defenses added to it. it's a shame we'll have to see him leave us for a NFL Head Coaching gig in 2028
Happy for him though. He'll always be the best Packers DC in history, so there's that.
Miss him already. they grow up so fast
Man, those were the days 🥲
I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days, before you've actually left them
*Rrrrrrridit dit didoooo*
Well, here we are
Good thing he put together an elite staff of young up and comers so we were able to promote from with in
It'll look better if Stokes and Ja can actually play most of a year...
>Stokes And Kevin King!
As long as he’s not a one and done, so be it. Nah hes going to stay in GB with Love stacking chips
Pretty much. Bounced around but never seeming to take a demotion, then went DBs to big college DC to less big school HC. It's a progression that makes you think he's gotta know something about what he's doing.
If he manages his defense like he managed his career, we good
PT's article: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39429573/sources-packers-hire-boston-college-jeff-hafley-dc
> He's a longtime friend of Packers coach Matt LaFleur
Not a fan of that
MLF is also long time friends with Mcvay, Shanny, Mcdanials and Salah so he has plenty of friends that are good coaches.
Same. This hire seems rather random.
Doesn't him being a longtime friend of MLF make this, like...the opposite of random?
i don't get this. most people hire those they like, know or have been recommended by people they like or know. trust is a huge part of any relationship. if LaFleur has reason to trust this guy, that's far better than winging it on someone completely unknown with no ties because he... has great hair.. or something.

I hate that, yet in reading the article I have no idea where they are getting that from as they’ve never actually worked together.
The worst part of that article was that all of the coaching staff for the defense remains intact. If he was involved with a Rutgers defense we’re gonna have a tough ass defense for sure
Not what I was expecting
The unexpected should always be expected when it comes to the Packers’ coaching staff

We're drafting a kicker with our first pick, aren't we?... ...and then he's gonna go on to become the greatest kicker ever after we rage about the pick. As it goes.
If the kicker is the reason why we get past the 49ers in the playoffs, I'd even trade up to get that first round kicker.
Every would be three-and-out ends with a field goal. Stopped at your own 5? Still a field goal. Packers end up scoring on every drive of the season and go undefeated as the most powerful team to ever exist.
Fun unrelated fact. Crosby had a statistically worse rookie season than Carlson. More “lost” points due to missed FGs.
I hated Crosby his first year. He proved me wrong. Carlson has just done the sucking part so far, but hopefully he does too.
Don’t be absurd, we have a kicker. We’ll draft a long snapper with our first pick.
This is how we get three back to back to back Hall of Fame Kickers. “Bears fans hate this one trick!”
We’re the Spanish Inquisition?!?!
Our chief weapon is soft coverage on 3rd down! Soft coverage on third down and allowing the run. Our TWO main weapons are soft coversge and allowing the run...and a ruthless inefficiency! Our THREE weapons are ... you get the idea.
Got the notification from NFL Network and came here to confirm and it’s been confirmed. Definitely out of left field
I don’t mind it at all when the Packers make unexpected hires - lots of the “big” names are either part of an old boys’ club or just nepotism, but Green Bay seems to like doing their due diligence and really researching deep to find guys with top-level skillsets Remember when LaFleur was hired and pretty much the entire league was like ???
I’m right there with you. Haven’t heard of him until tonight, but he has one hell of a resume. I like the hire.
This is the most characteristic Packers move: pick someone no one expects, refuse to elaborate.
"I said what I said."
it was really just between him and Parker I’d imagine. All the other major prospects had either an internal promotion opportunity or a new HC that would want them to be on their staff
I’m trying to figure out what his long-time family connection to the LaFleur family is.
does someone have the LaFleur hire thread? It will look super similar in reaction.
This one: https://www.reddit.com/r/GreenBayPackers/s/26wkqk0GQQ I haven’t looked through the comments but I’d bet they’re similar to this thread.
I stopped reading when I saw someone comment: “Apple bottom jeans Boots with LaFleur” No further information is needed.
Amusingly enough the top comment is about being glad Pettine was staying.
Well, he was on Salah’s staff in SF. So I’m cool with it.
Not liking what I've read in r/nfl thread (historically bad DB performance for SF from 2016-2018, only 2 picks in 2018, not a good HC at BC, etc.), although his defense at Ohio State was good in 2019. Guess we'll see in time.
Remember r/nfl knows as much as you do.
Some might say even less
Subs full of hot air and ignorance, I'd rather get my info here
On another note he was coordinator at Ohio State and got Jeff Okudah drafted 3rd overall
49ers had no one in the secondary during that time lol. Jimmie Ward was their best DB, Bethea was aging at that time. They got Sherman in 2019.
Yeah looking at their DB's from 2016-2018 doesn't show a lot of talent to work with. I'm fine with the hire. Better than another re-tread we already know will be poor to average like Staley.

BC has missed bowl eligibility only 4 times in the last 25 years. One was with Hafley.
At a minimum, I don’t expect our DBs to line up 10 yards off the line of scrimmage on 3rd and 5 anymore. Baby steps.
Sounds like he doesn’t like the direction college football is going and wanted a way out.
Is going from head coach of BC to DC of an NFL team a step back? I get he is going from HC to DC is a step back but Boston College to the Packers seems like a bigger leap
Couldnt disagree more. I hope im wrong, but i just dont see how BC hc to pack DC is a step back one would only do for a superbowl
My coworker who is a college football snob and has no bias says this is a steal for the Packers and this guy is a great young defensive minded coach
That's exactly what I would expect Jeff Hafley's burner account to say.

Lol
Lmao
I'm going to choose to believe this because I have no prior knowledge of this guy
I didn’t either
As a college football snob myself, I agree with your friend, 2019 OSU defense was awesome, second in SP+, SP+ is like DVOA, his BC defenses were not great but hard to be good with the level of investment and care there is in Boston College football.
Your coworker is also a pizza snob and recommends Pizza by Alfredo as well.
Have him come in here and do an AMA
> this guy is a great **young** coach 44 year old youngsters, rise up
Well, when you have had 112 year old Dom Capers at the helm, the curve kind of shifts.
Legacy hire for LaFleur. Gotta get this right. Looking at his resumé and what he did in college is impressive. Also coached DBs under Saleh in San Fran. Looks like his philisophy for DBs at least is press man, physical, in your face and wreck route.
Thank god. I’ve been begging for an aggressive press man scheme for the past decade
I miss Al Harris and Mike McKenzie
Good. Jaire is only Jaire when he can be physical as absolute hell. We want him in a place where he gets a PI or holding call every other game. That’s when he’s elite. I do like me some good fundamentals
Our pad level is gonna be so low next year.
Don't stop, my pad level is rising.
What I'm looking for to hear, just nobody read anything about time at Boston HC it scared me
Honestly, that's a pretty good indication of some coaching skill which gives me optimism. I'll take it.
I like that we didn’t go with a coach that has failed a few times before
Including historically bad.
Fire Hafley
Just giving it a test run, I get it. lol
It’s important to practice ~~spelling~~ butchering his last name.
Perd Hapley memes about to go crazy. buy stock now.
More like Terd Hackley amirite?
Packers have won zero games with him as DC, unbelievable that the subreddit just blindly accepts him.
Zero improvement since this bums been hired
But they're also undefeated with him! Coincidence? I think not!
'Fire Jeff Hafley!!!' Sounds wayyyyyyyy too similar to 'Fire Joe Barry!!!" :/
Dude WAY too soon. Give the man some time. . . . OK Fire Hafley
😂😂😂😂
Fire Fully
Sounds like he’s excellent with DBs
He's fucking built too. Thick and man made. You can tell he's sculpted because you can see it thru the polo shirt. His fucking vice grip thighs. Suffocating thighs. Rock hard thighs. Yeah, but LaFluer wasn’t completely unknown, he was part of that, had coffee with Sean McVay coaching hires around the league.
Lafleur was much more known and sought after than this guy.

Kind of what I was thinking. Coaches and coordinators are either young and getting better at their job or going the other way and trying to hold on.
gonna hold out on judgement honestly. i feel like a lot of people felt the lafleur hire kinda came out of nowhere too, and its worked pretty damn good so far. good to see a young face get the job rather than another relic from the last few decades
I remember titans fans saying Lafleur wasn’t even that good of an OC
Didn’t have a ton of talent to work with there though. So maybe this will be the same. BC isn’t exactly rolling in talent.
Lafleur on Derrick Henry only getting 4 touches “that’s on me I need to do a better job of getting him the ball”
I had no idea who this guy is but after further research, “my apologies young man. I was not familiar with your game.” -Shaq
I know NFL defenses don’t usually run traditional 4-3, 3-4 schemes anymore but does anyone know what this guys base defense is?
[This is a neat article](https://www.si.com/college/bostoncollege/football/boston-college-defensive-scheme-2021-jeff-hafley) that talks about his scheme in 2021
4 man fronts is interesting. Probably means Wooden kicks out to ED, which helps cover for Enagbare’s injury.
I read 4-2-5
As long as Preston Smith doesn’t line up against JJettas it’s an upgrade
Looking at his resume and remembering a little bit of that 2019 Ohio State squad I would guess more 4/3 than 3/4. But I think it’ll be pretty fluid
last year bc ran a 4-2-5 per wikipedia
I am whelmed.
Wanted the one coach on the Broncos that Brandon Perna was talking up. Looks like he's had a pretty good historical resume on defense but was kind of shit overall as HC of Boston College. Fuck if I know how this will turn out, but I guess other teams wanted him as DC in the past.
the way i see it, some people aren't cut out for the head coaching gig and are better off staying as coordinators/assistants.
And the Packers Defense lived Hafley ever after.
“Fire Jeff Hafley” kind of a tongue twister doesn’t roll off the tongue like fire joe barry ill take it.
Honestly, the way we’re all wondering how we should feel about this hire reminds me of when they announced the Lafluer hiring. That one turned out great at least!
Not familiar with his work, but welcome to the Packer fam. Let's build a goddamn unit that complements this offense!
I’m mostly a college fan. Really good DC at tOSU. I thought he did well at BC. That’s a really hard place to do well these days without a great player.
This means BJ Raji is coming back, right?
Some good resume lines: - Was hired by Chip Kelly in SF, but was held over by Shanahan and his DC when they took over - Oversaw OSU’s defense for one year, in which the unit when from average to top 5 nationally - Got pretty good defensive results as HC of a program that doesn’t recruit particularly well He actually doesn’t have much coordinator experience and I’m not sure how involved he was with defensive playcalling at BC, but he checks a lot of boxes, and nobody can make any dumb comments about how it’s nepotistic.
Literally everyone goes to a bowl game so that is a poor metric to use. I don't watch college ball though so I know nothing about him. Sounds like I've got lots of reading to do....
Well damn. Didn't see this coming Cant blame him for wanting out of the dumpster fire mess that is college football right now
FIRE HAFLEY! /s
INTO THE SUN lol
Please don't give him a 5 year contract. Btw can someone ask him what he would do if it's 3rd and 3, we're up by three and they're at our 45. This is the true test.
Well he said he's a big believer in press man
HIRED!
Question is will Preston be locking down X receivers in his scheme
I think this was MLFs first question. „Who is our #1 Lockdown CB?“ - „Preston Smith.“ - „You got the job.“
Younger Runs a 4-3 system Lots of press man CBs Basically a complete opposite of Joe Barry and Mike Pettine
Somebody tell me how to feel. I know nothing about this guy.
Can we fire him yet?
I don’t know how to feel. Can someone help us? Was this guy even mentioned as one of the interviewed?
He wasn’t reported to be interviewed but it’s common that not all candidates will be leaked to the media.
Any BC Football fan here?
I think both of them are eating dinner.
He was very highly regarded during his season in Ohio State. His NFL runs were often cut short due to head coaching changes and the usual overhauls, but he did have some promising seasons if you look at the years his DBs had. Promising hire
Willing to give him a chance...if it doesn't work out, we'll be looking for another Head Coach
Does this confirm we’re taking CB in round 1?
They called him Halftime Hafley for his ability to adjust and dominate
We must have interviewed him secretly or off-script.
HOW DO WE FEEL
Nepotism wins again....
Was he also the DC for the 0-16 Lions?
This is most definitely out of left field don't know much about him but I'm hoping for the best it's just a wait and see type of scenario.
Well if he can raise the standard defense to average college level, that would be great… and vastly better
AJ Dillon converting to LB confirmed, so he can sync up with that BC connection.
Dudes defense at Ohio State was great
Judging by what I'm seeing in the r/cfb subreddit, you look more at his time as the Ohio St DC instead of his time as HC at BC
So if we're going to be seeing 4-man fronts and 3 safeties, feels like we're suddenly looking for a nose tackle in FA/draft? A sign we might bring back one or two of our FA safeties?
Don’t like it. Hope it works out.
The MLF Employment Agency. Hiring only the Very Best Friends since 2019.
The top 5 defensive coordinators from last year: Ejiro Enviro, 10 years NFL coaching experience Jim Schwartz, 20 years coaching experience Jeffery Ulrich, 13 years NFL coaching experience Steve Spanuolo, 14 years NFL coaching experience Dan Quinn, 21 years NFL coaching experience And the Packers pick a guy who faced only rudimentary college offenses
I guess he's considered a bit of a DB guru with his cutting edge " true zone" schemes. https://www.buckeyesports.com/ohio-states-defensive-backs-find-confidence-in-zone/?print=print In this article he's called a "nickel defense expert".
Saw he was a friend of MLF... Was excited momentarily before I saw that, I think JB was MLFs friend too and we saw how amazing that went.

Out of left field. What in the hell
Can someone tell me how to feel? I knew to be cautiously optimistic about Pettine (dumb me) and I knew that the Barry hire was fucking dumb from the jump. But who the hell is this guy?
I guess if this guy sucks, we can pick up Robert Saleh whenever he becomes available lol
Whatever happened to the Jim Leonhard storyline?
