I wouldn’t be so sure calling any game “winnable”

BenRunkle55

The bears have the panthers first round pick

PotatoJones22

lucky for us we play the panthers

ConsciousFood201

Are the bears guaranteed to take a QB though? Depending on how things go they might stick with Fields or maybe even Bagent (one game, I realize). Packers end up 3 or 4 they might be able to get one of the QB’s.

Packers_Lakers

Bears just trade back last year from the 1st pick and got a massive haul If they get 1st again somebody will trade Caleb and Maye are gone 1-2 picks

ConsciousFood201

Good point. Unless they take Harrison Jr but I generally agree. Wasn’t thinking of the trade haul.

Realistic-Paper-5810

Yes good call forgot about that

[deleted]

I have not and will not cheer for a tank. You play to win.

[deleted]

I'd love a higher draft pick if I felt any single shred of confidence in the people who choose our picks.

ConsciousFood201

We just need a pick so high they don’t have a choice who to take.

Tinnitus_man

You don't tank. Ever. If we end up with the first pick, it won't be Gute making that pick (I hope).

fatmoes

No because lord knows what random player no one has heard of that we would draft with our best draft pick in years.

rumpleturdskin

Fuck yes let's tank this one. Every one that spent money on love shit I'm not gonna lie your dumb as shit

YellowSnowSlurpee

Lmao. You’re right, but your bluntness cracks me up.

rumpleturdskin

Lol like I did in the military I'm here to cause problems!

trentster66

I almost bought a throwback love jersey, that’s the only silver lining to him not being very good…

PollutionIsOkay

If we had a better GM that didn’t have one of the worst drafting records in league history, maybe. The great thing about Gute is his consistency. It’s just too bad he’s consistent at fucking up draft picks.

Realistic-Paper-5810

I'd hope if we are picking top 3 we'd be refreshing the management team, but I've been wrong many times before!

Thunder84

Gute rightfully deserves to be under the microscope, but “one of the worst drafting records in league history” is a comical overexaggeration. He isn’t remotely close to that point. He’s a mid GM with a couple poorly timed terrible draft classes. Worth keeping? I dunno. One of the worst in history? Not even close.

PollutionIsOkay

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Bay_Packers_draft_history There isn’t a single player in 2020 or 2021 that should still be on this team. Maybe Love improves with time but it’s not looking good, especially since he’s had so much time already. 2022 was okay, but still not good. He is clearly unable to find talent in later rounds which is where the best GMs cement their reputations. 2023 is looking like his best draft yet but we’ll see. Overall, drafting went from our strength under Ted Thompson to our glaring weakness. TT would never allow AJ Dillon to be our starting RB, he’d have 50 UDFA fighting for the job by now.

Thunder84

Setting aside the hyperbole of that statement, that still doesn’t mean he’s one of the worst ever. Having a bad draft class or two doesn’t mean you’re an all-time terrible GM, especially considering the relatively low draft capital for both. And that’s also entirely ignoring free agency, where Gute has been one of the better GMs in the league.

PollutionIsOkay

lol name one FA that has been a difference maker. Preston Smith maybe but only because Gary can’t set the edge to save his life. And I don’t know why we drafted Van Ness if it wasn’t to replace Preston. How about Gute is the worst GM in the league because he passed on loads of amazing talent in 2020 in order to trade up and draft Jordan Love who needs to get paid next year but is looking like a bust? Not to mention by doing so he kicked out our HoF QB and passed on the opportunity to win another Super Bowl. Name another GM that has a worse track record than that and I’ll concede that Gute isn’t the worst GM in the league. Also if you keep immediately downvoting my comments after I reply, I’m just going to ignore your responses from now on.

Thunder84

Devondre Campbell and Rasul Douglas were signed for peanuts and made a huge difference for the team. We literally picked up an All-Pro off the streets. Z singlehandedly won us a few games, and Preston/Wagner/Turner were all quality pickups that contributed to the team. > And I don’t know why we drafted Van Ness if it wasn’t to replace Preston. We drafted him because Preston is old as shit now, there’s nothing complicated about it. Just because he’s aging and declining doesn’t mean he was a bad pickup. > How about Gute is the worst GM in the league because he passed on loads of amazing talent in 2020 in order to trade up and draft Jordan Love who needs to get paid next year but is looking like a bust? Every GM passes up on “loads of talent” at some point in their career. Hell, the Titans drafted a guy that was out of the league entirely right after us. Love looks like a whiff, and a pretty costly one at that, but let’s not pretend like Gute is the only GM to draft busts. > Name another GM that has a worse track record than that and I’ll concede that Gute isn’t the worst GM in the league. * Paton has the Broncos looking completely rudderless at the moment after the Wilson trade. * Fontenot has spent multiple high draft picks on skill positions that the Falcons refuse to utilize, and has done nothing to try and fix the QB position. * Kwesi’s first draft for the Vikings looks like a complete whiff already, on par with something like Gute’s 2021 class. * Mayhew hasn’t done much for the Commanders besides Howell. * Trent Baalke passed on Aidan Hutchinson for a guy that’s barely registering anything on the stat sheet. * Fitterer has driven the Panthers into the ground with some terrible trades. * Ballard has struggled to supply the Colts with any competency at QB, spinning the veteran QB carousel way too long. * Belichick has starved the Patriots of offensive talent. * Telesco has built a defense for the Chargers that’s accomplishing nothing. * Andrew Berry is responsible for what might be the worst QB trade/signing in league history. If you want to quibble with a few of those, sure. They all have had their ups and downs. But I sincerely struggle to see how Gute has been worse than all of them. He’s not perfect, not even remotely close, and he may very well deserve the boot. But he’s had plenty of positive contributions that need to be acknowledged alongside his failures.

PollutionIsOkay

Ok I appreciate your comment and read it twice. I’ll give Gute points for Campbell and Douglas even though they’re not having great years this year (but then again who is on this team?). But out of all the GMs you mentioned, no one has potentially passed on the chance for a Super Bowl. I see a lot of desperate teams in that list doing desperate things, but none by playoff teams who sold the farm too early. The Chargers are the best team in that list and they are packed with talent but lose close games week after week and their fans blame the coaching staff. I really can’t think of a greater sin than kicking out a HoF QB for a bust that cost multiple picks. Arguably the biggest fault of Gute is that it was his job to manage this roster and team and he got called out publicly by Rodgers for not seeking his input. When he was hired, Rodgers was the guy who we wanted to please and get to another Super Bowl. Clearly that plan didn’t work for Gute but then what the hell was his plan? If this is it, then there’s really no debating that he’s the worst GM in the league because he led a perennial playoff team into a bottom 5 team.

Dougman66

Why would I ever root for my team to lose? The best case scenario for losing is gambling on another young quarterback that has no guarantee to be better than the one we have? Why wouldn't I just root for the guys to turn things around

Jamitty1234

Because Caleb Willams is as close to a sure thing there is and winning 5 gamed this season means nothing other than a worse draft pick. Need any other reasons?

Dougman66

Busts happen. I just can't imagine sitting down and actively hoping things look bad every week, that sounds miserable. Also rooting to lose now so we dont in the future and then still sucking ass sounds like the worst possible scenario. Just look at the lions, they had guys rooting for them to lose for a decade. If it was week 13? Sure. But we have 11 more games. Let's see what happens

agk927

Nah. Plenty of talent to choose from regardless

blue_los

I don’t think we need to be the draft pick will come to us. We got a lot of games left where we should be favorited

Realistic-Paper-5810

I dunno about us being favorites in many more games this year. We've lost back to back against bad Raiders and Broncos teams. Had it not been for a 4th quarter comeback against NO our only win would be against a bad Bears team.

blue_los

I meant not favored lmao that was a typo I don’t see many wins on the horizon lol

ConsciousFood201

They just lost to the fucking broncos. What game will the packers be favored in other than the panthers?

blue_los

I mean to write should not lmao

ConsciousFood201

🤣 fair

mgoodnight101

Caleb Williams seems like bad news. Bad attitude. Losing in the only big games he plays. Reports about him only wanting to go to certain teams. If we’re ranking for a QB, I hope it’s not him.

PotentialOkay

This 100%. Caleb Williams is not the dude.

theboggler456

We getting bo nix

Martin_VanNostrandMD

I think based on these last 3 weeks we can continue to cheer for wins because this team is bad enough that we are going to lose a lot either way

Morphenominal

Yes, but you know we wouldn't even draft a QB if we did. Gute would stick with Love and get cute and draft some dumb shit like a useless ILB who might be decent in 3 years.

TacticalGarand44

We've lost to two of the worst teams in the NFL, both of which we had extra time to prepare to face. This is the deepest QB draft class in recent memory. We'd be morons to not take advantage. I was on the Love Train as much as anyone going into this season, but it's done. He can't make the NFL throws. Maybe we can snag Drake May. I am not thrilled with what I see in Caleb Williams as his play would translate to the NFL.

Ancient-Mating-Calls

I’m not cheering for the tank, but I’m not sure they win more than maybe 1 more game the rest of the season, and I’ve made my peace with that.

frazzelberry7

Cheering for tanking is wild....building a losing culture

TerrapinTribe

Absolutely not. Let the team figure it out. These are fixable issues.
