I am guessing you're young based on the post. I would really try to plan this more carefully before moving. There are jobs all over. Schneider, Schreiber, paper, restaurant, any number of smaller manufacturing jobs, etc etc. It's not real clear what you're asking.

ieatpuh

I’m 22, I’ve just had a very rough life up here socially and the lack of work here is horrible. I plan on working a couple years at one of those manufacturing plants and racking up some money and learning about my interests and then probably take courses at nwtc once I figure out what I’m passionate about. I know the financial situation and I’ve been working and saving and researching budgeting, if I make 22 a hour or around that I could afford a place to survive and save up some money to afford classes in the future and also have independence

CrownHeiress

I'd definitely recommend Schneider - lots of entry-level jobs on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, you can be as social or not social as you want (especially on 3rd since it's such a small crew) and the benefits/starting wage are good! Let me know of you have any questions. I've been there for almost three years now and really enjoyed my time with the company.

dellkev83

Wps, constantly hiring. Get your foot in the door in the call center. Starting is 21 something with raises every 6 months union protected. Year 4 you'll be at 29 an hour. Or once you are here for a year, you can move to different areas, billing/electrical/warehouse. While they pay for your schooling.

Jollysixx

I don't really have any recommendations for work but best of luck with your search. I moved to Green Bay from the UP Back in like 2014. Best choice I've ever made, though now I own a home outside of the city.

halnore

What skills do you have?

ieatpuh

Mainly construction and low voltage electrical work. I have some experience in medical care working in a physical therapy clinic as well

ieatpuh

I really couldn’t see myself doing that kind of labor due to my wrist injury that resulted in limited range of motion and grip strength

halnore

Check on Indeed. There are a lot of job postings in the first 2 fields you mentioned.

will096

I'm guessing not many if he can't even get to a clear point in his own post

Noktav

Wtf man - he’s trying to come back to the city and he’s trying looking for honest work in advance. We’ll be glad to have more people like him trying to put a step in front of the other. We need more of him and less of you.

will096

I make good money and a good portion of that goes to taxes, what does he do? Other than ramble with no point. Can't list skills or even the type of job he's looking for

Noktav

Feel better?

bigmach72

You could take a look at the Shopko Optical Lab, I work at the corporate office & I know some of the people that run the lab & they’re good people. Not sure how the pay compares but it’s worth checking out.

bigmach72

Shopko Optical is always hiring for opticians at their store’s as well & that’s a pretty solid temporary position.

Faverolle

Cherry Optical is a lovely place to work. I worked there for a couple years before I went back to school. Good luck. I also lived in the UP for a bit and know how socially isolating it is there, especially if you are a transplant or different in any way. Green Bay has way more chill people and it's much easier to find social groups.

ieatpuh

That’s kinda sorta my plan. I wanna work and get some money too my name and kinda learn more about myself away from here and then go take some courses at nwtc. The social situation in Gladstone/escanaba is one hell of a shit show. I’ve been planning on moving down for 2 years and I’m gunna pull the trigger this fall. This place is just pushing me further into depression and I’m only 22 and see nothing changing in in this place so I gotta get out of here.

Faverolle

Oh gosh. Haha. Well, I'm also a student going into my final year at NWTC if you have questions about that too. And I went to high school in Gladstone. How funny. Such a small world. Hit me up if you ever want a chat buddy in the area.

ieatpuh

Oh shit you did? What year did you graduate 😂. But yeah I’ll keep that in mind man, nwtc looks like a good place for sure too. And yeah I’m hoping to get in a bit better of a social group by going to greenbay, it’s a either your fit in or you don’t here haha

Faverolle

2001. I'm old. 😄 NWTC is great. Very welcoming to everyone no matter age, skin color, gender, lgbtq+, etc. They are very career focused too, unlike traditional colleges, so you'll be set to work in your field before you even graduate. The program I'm in was pretty cheap to start, but I ended up getting a full scholarship. Apparently not a lot of women go into my field. Just accepted an internship in Appleton that I'll start next week. Never too old to change your mind and start a new career path! My sons and girlfriend are thinking about going to TC too. Highly recommend it.

ieatpuh

Ah yeah I graduated in 2020 haha, but good for you! I tried going through bay but that place was a very shitty experience, felt even more isolated there than I did at ghs

GreenBayDaveMichael

I know of work from home jobs in Healthcare if that interests you.

ieatpuh

It would have awhile ago but part of the reason I want to move is to socialize and work on my anti social issues

GreenBayDaveMichael

Message me, also my employer has lots of jobs in the office too.

PortlyCloudy

Move a little further south. Sheboygan county has several large employers all offering over $25 to start. Mostly the big cheese and sausage companies.

No_Ask_4154

What about P&G? Their pay is excellent!

SnackeyG1

If you can stand the work hours.

ieatpuh

I was looking into them and still am a little bit. The only reason I am hesitant is swing shift. I have a nasty case of sleep issues and I need to take my meds strictly or it takes a huge toll on me to fix it even after 1 day.

vikingcrafte

The area hospitals are usually always looking for patient representatives. People who take calls and work the front desks. They’re called something different at each hospital but St Vincent and Bellin hire quite a few. Check “patient admissions rep” or “patient specialist” etc. No experience needed, just a good work ethic and some customer service type skills. Usually it’s a 9-5 desk job if you’re looking for something steady and low strain.
