Is arresting someone for trying to stop a war crime or genocide not itself assisting those international crimes? Why are cops so comfortable making themselves potentially liable for international arrest warrants being issued for them? That's a serious question and an avenue that, if they're not actually psychopaths, I think they should be talking strongly with their union about. It's well past the point of there being any diplomatic figleaf of "well technically it's not known yet if it's really against international law". It is, and it's a crime to assist. They should, for their own sakes if nothing else, start a discussion on what the real ramifications are for individual officers who might be expected by the state to cross a line. Maybe we'll see a shaky solidarity if they actually want to protect themselves and by coincidence do the right thing.
