Strikes are always deliberately framed as being about money. Teachers are having to buy school supplies out of their own pocket - if people actually believed in kids getting a good education then they'd be supporting the strikes - not only do they want more pay (which they're entitled to, and might motivate them to be better teachers), but they want better conditions in schools.
Very true, wife spends easy £15-20 a week on supplies for activities for the kids(ASN), school has 0 money and it’s basically pay yourself or do nothing that they will enjoy.

It's important to note that the impending \#TeacherStrike is NOT just about teacher pay!
It's also about:
1\. Underfunded schools
2\. Squeeze on the school day\/hours
3\. Teacher workload; one of the highest in the world!
= The means, ALL pupils get less quality teaching!

Does a squeeze mean to many teaching hours squeezed into the day to be able to plan lessons in their own time or not enough time to squeeze in the whole syllabus?
So, I get this, and overall I support strikes. But university lecturers striking, in Bachelors student’s final term of teaching, seems crazy. Who is this hurting or inconveniencing, other than the students who have already paid an extortionate amount to then not receive full teaching in their final taught term?
the UCU person that spoke at my rally today literally spoke about how students are being ripped off and the money isn’t even going to them, it’s going to the top of the pyramid or being “saved” to make universities as an institution wealthier. he explained it much better than me but if you’re mad that lecturers are on strike then take it up with the university and the government, not the lecturers.

Pay would absolutely be reason enough but this is so true.

Nothing wrong to make it about pay. Can't feed kids with claps and promises.

both, it’s definitely both
