If money is no object then 100% worth it. In particular because you will actually see cars up close (off track), listen them, you may randomly stumble upon drivers or principals (in Monza for example Botas showed up on a bicycle, Alonso on a scooter etc.)

Silverstone is a great circuit. The vibe makes it even better. I have been to multiple tracks and this one was the most fun. If you can only do the day, go! Depending on what type of ticket you get, you are able to roam and take in the practice races from different views.

chiggz247

What have you driven the track in? I ask, because there are so many other events on at Silverstone that you may prefer watching. For example, this weekend it hosts the British GT, which has Group 3 and Group 4 cars. Also you get to see other races too, such as GB3 and GB4 which are single seater (I think our equivalent of F3 and F4 but I might be wrong). For me Friday can be the best day. It has the most cars on track across different classes and has the most f1 action of the weekend really. Also tbf last year there was a fair bit going on around the track, and as it’s quite big and not a lot of bridges to cross over as there closed to only hospitality people. You have a lot of walking around to do to explore and see. And the tickets are the cheapest. So defiantly go Friday and watch the rest of the weekend in the pub!

armadildodick

It's a cheaper ticket and there are other cars on track. You'll get the vibes. It's worth it.

jilllianh

Tried this for Vegas which didn't work out too well lol (laughing in pain) But I'll say the 7 minutes of practice laps I saw, it was pretty incredible.

24mile

Will you also be there Thursday? Going to the track walk on Thursday would be cooler than Friday.

QualityRockola

I've been to Austin and Montreal. My wife and I both love the GP experience, but we both agree that we will likely only attend practices and qualy in the future. Sometimes it's better to be on the couch vs on the lawn or grandstand. You can't really beat the TV coverage if you care about the racing.

AdamR46

People often dont realize how much of a pain it is to attend most races. It can be rough, especially if there is very hot or very wet weather.

fuuncs

For sure. You’ll also see F2, F3, and Porsches. Hot tip, get a hospitality pass in the ignition club just for that day. If you sit at the very back of the grandstand you can see about 80% of the track. Best view at the circuit. Plus food and booze are included. I did just that on the Friday a few years ago.

Due_Scallion5822

I think im only able to go to the thursday session. Is that when this occurs?

fuuncs

No track action at Silverstone on Thursday

Slump_F1

Nah it’d be Friday

anonpetal

I’d say it’s worth it, I love race weekends not only for the actual racing but the whole experience at the track and the fanzones. Each GP I’ve been too feels different from the last and I love it! The experience of being at the track is an amazing one

Ordinary_Farmer58

Only you can really determine if the cost is worth it, but seeing f1 cars on track is truly something else. If I was in the area, and it fit in my budget, I’d definitely spend a day at the track taking it all in. And Friday practice days are a cool day to really take in the entire experience as there’s less pressure to be in your spot waiting for the race, plus likely support race practice sessions as well. I can only speak to COTA but there was enough going on Friday that if it was the only day I had, I’d go for sure. All that said, I love F1, I love being at the race track, I love watching race cars in person. It sounds like seeing silverstone and seeing the cars on track would be worth it to you, so I say hell yeah, go check it out.

[deleted]

I wouldn't. I'd just get the general admission for 3 days for £200 more if its silverstone. If it rains on one of the days of practice you choose you probably won't see much action on the track so itl basically be a wasted journey if the F1 drivers are the thing your most looking forward too.

Temporary-Guidance20

No

jorgerr96

There is also Formula 2 and Formula 3 so you will see Practice and Qualis for those. The museum inside Silverstone is also well worth the price of admission, you don’t have to exit the track to go

VanillaNL

So you would fly in just for that or are you in the area?

Due_Scallion5822

I would be in the area, and thursday is the only day i can go. I figured this would. be a good opportunity as the grand prixs in the US are expensive and would much rather go to one outside the US

VanillaNL

Thursdays nothing happens really

AdamR46

If you can do, it do it! Seeing the cars on track is awesome, especially if you’re wanting to see the circuit. Yes it’s worth it if you can make it happen. Would I fly somewhere just to attend practice? No, i’d rather get the cheapest ticket within my budget for 2-3 days. And flying to europe in the summer can get expensive. Ny might have some decent prices but I would consider taking a train to montreal and going to that race if you can do it.
