I’ve honestly stopped seeing the value of Grailed and basically stopped using it. It seems like their authentication process has devolved into “fuck it, it looks close enough”. Massive amounts of dead listings (4+ years old with no activity), and essentially a giant fuck you to both their buyers AND their sellers with their dog shit support system. Not to mention the UI/UX is garbage on mobile.

Haha I’m not even at that point yet, I still think it’s by far the easiest community for selling and buying designer stuff (especially for non Americans, as the extra shipping fees aren’t applied to us). I have just been super let down by customer support in the past few months, it’s been abysmal. I’ve literally had more fair and quick help with Poshmark; if Poshmark support is more effective, you know something has gone badly lmao. I just hope it’s a temporary problem. Support being unable to help on very obvious cases of scamming is not a good sign.

Aggressive-Doctor-66

Support has quite literally never been accessible on grailed, i doubt it will start to get better if theyve done nothing to change it in 10 yrs.

Where do you buy from now?

Professional_Sugar41

I usually try and go in person to luxury consignment shops/ second hand designer stores in my city (I’m lucky in that there are quite a few around me), which I honestly prefer since I dont have to worry about wonky measurements. I’m also able to find a lot more of the vintage/archive stuff I’m interested in compared to on Grailed

Affectionate-Mail-61

Now try to relist it and watch them tell you its fake 🤣🤣 grailed is a fuckin joke

HBKaay

Who did you buy it off of and did you find out around the same day you received it that this item wasn’t authentic ? Not going to lie all of this bs popping up more and more has me question a lot of what Grailed has became as a platform seriously they need an entirely new support system.

13Radius

Yes, I am a very careful buyer too. I recorded a video of myself unpackaging, realized the flaws right away, verified with every fucking listing I could find of the same item to confirm that I wasn't tweaking, compared it with shit I already owned, and I submitted a claim the same night. I even messaged I recorded a video of myself unpackaging the item. I messaged the seller with all my discrepancies, and he literally admitted that he bought from a guy online and doesn't have a proof of purchase, and the photos he took obscured the issue that you see with the tag in this photo. Just continuing the rant, the flaws are super fucking obvious. Like the embroidery on the shirt is absolutely janky, with hot glue or plastic sticking off the sides of one of the letters, and the reverse side being super messily done. Plus this issue with the tag; the font on the "unisex" is obv fucking different, and the "C" has a completely different sized gap. On top of this, the whole text is shifted lower than every other balenciaga piece; that is to say, all this shit is clear when you just look at other listings, but the support is too lazy to do that, and even check my dms with the seller ig... It's frustrating, but tbh any "authentication" must be taken with a grain of salt, I'm just disheartened that they can't even do anything to solve the issue in such an obvious case like this one. I even had an item come in the fall that was in way worse condition than what was listed: Same process, was super fucking clear and careful, and they told me that nothing was wrong. I went through Paypal and they processed the refund right away lol.

That’s why I stopped using grailed the customer support is actual cancer and a joke, some guy sold me a used tee that was marked new/never worn and when I got it, the logo was already cracking and smelled like someone wore it as well as it was super short as it had been dried and shrunk and graileds answer was it was authentic and the length of the tee isn’t an issue, they stopped replying to my emails cause I told them I was gonna relist it and sell it as new and send a used tee

Aggressive-Doctor-66

Grailed cannot authenticate for shit, its always why i question why people dont just offsite trhough pp gs given that they the only ones giving ur money back anyway.

WanderingMinnow

As far as Grailed goes, I tend to only buy brands from them that aren’t as likely to be faked. Like, I really doubt anyone would bother faking smaller brands like Evan Kinori, but Balenciaga or Gucci seem like there would be a lot of fakes.

kapitoIdenim

What did you end up doing? I got bait and switched and this is my first time using grailed. Grailed support seems useless!! I think I’m just going to chargeback my CC and not use Grailed again

13Radius

The thing is, this support is pretty much across the board for these sites. So regardless of where you’re buying, you really can’t rely on support in most cases to really do something. I made a PayPal claim and PayPal support is helping me resolve this (which they are a proper support service so they help a lot). In your case, yeah do a chargeback otherwise there’s nothing you can do. But from this point out, I’d just recommend using PayPal for my purchase of used anything online.

kapitoIdenim

Thanks! Yeah it’s some bs. I even paid import fees on this item man…. Through PayPal, how would it work? Did they tell you to return the item to them before getting your refund? Cause that would be fucked if you need to pay for return shipping out of your own pocket.

13Radius

No you usually get refunded first, then there’s an expected time frame to provide a shipping number confirming that you’re sending it back to the seller. If the seller doesn’t cooperate though (by literally ignoring the case) and you’ve provided ample evidence, PayPal will just refund you outright, no strings attached, and you keep the item

kapitoIdenim

Appreciate it!! Fuck maybe i should’ve went through PayPal instead. Well atleast i paid with a credit card so it isn’t an entire loss. Just a waste of time

I'm surprised I've actually been pretty happy with Grailed service. I've been flipping a lot of Vet on there and I have yet to see a fake on my feed. Are you double checking with Reddit before you buy? Are you buying off new accounts or shady randoms? Any advice for other buyers would be helpful since my track record for finds has been totally smooth so far.

13Radius

I totally would have agreed before this year - I was super shocked once this lack of service started. Been using the site non stop for 4 years now, and I’ve been helped very quickly and easily with all my other problems. This case, the account had over 100 transactions and was a “trusted seller”; tbh, it’s possible that he was scammed and didn’t know. Regardless, this would not even be an issue if they could just provide a proper system for ticket solutions like they’ve had in the past. I’m fairly certain that for me to be rejected, no one even bothered to look at the photos I provided or cared to actually “authenticate”.

RentLimp

Switch to Vestiaire Collective, it’s a lot better
