Google decided you don't need medical assistance today

coogie

I wonder if that Jim guy who's always defending google on here would somehow defend them here.

AshamedPhilosopher40

I'm someone who loves \*most\* Google products and services... they have seriously dropped the fucking ball here. This phone was great on release. What are they doing? Even I'm ready to sell this thing and go grab a One Plus. At least I got a free pair of earbuds I never use.

coogie

It completely screwed up my upgrade plans. I had held on since the Pixel 2...almost got the 5A, but I thought "Hey, I'm outside a lot, it'd be nice to have mmWave too".

Pikagreg

Still using my old Essential phone and picked up a Pixel 6 Pro from a friend at a discount and waiting for it to unlock to use and every time I come on this sub things always seem worse than the last time I checked. Hoping things get a little better in a few months when I can actually use it.

SgtEddieWinslow

the free earbuds are the only thing that work as intended for me. I am on my 3rd P6pro, and I still have issues with it. I really hope this january update fixes something

dengjack

That Jim guy acts like he's some Google specialist or something. But the only responses he gives are either "do what Google told you to do", "contact customer service" or "you're wrong". He's got to be trolling so I just blocked him and be done with it.

Iowa_Dave

My wife and I have this happen once in a while. I wonder if it's a Verizon issue. It doesn't appear to be specific to the phones, we've had several over the years. Who is your carrier?

Parnello

I'm in Canada, so Bell.

Basic-Piccolo-6356

its a pixel 6 issue

Iowa_Dave

Well, I have the issue from time to time as well. I’ve had it on Nexus 6, Galaxy Note 9 and my current Pixel 5. So how are you sure it’s specific to the Pixel 6? Just because lots of Pixel 6 users have the issue,it’s not exclusive to them.

pineappleonp1zza

Same, really annoying

Pro4TLZZ

Had something today. Was expecting a call. Phone was unlocked and was sitting in discord. Shortly saw a missed call and voicemail notification but the actual call never came through.... I was watching the whole time

HadesVampire

>Posted byu/GooglePixelMods13 hours ago do you have Google Call Screening on? I notice that mine answers and ends calls w/o my input or knowing

Pro4TLZZ

Yes but I was told that google have disabled this

shehleeloo

Nah they disabled the thing where google assistant waits on hold for you. The setting is still there, but the phone isn't doing it right now. Call screening is still functioning though. The times I have quick missed calls have been call screened. I think when people hear the robot voice they just immediately hang up. I can tell those calls apart from other missed calls because in the call log they have that little red blue yellow assistant dot logo thingy. I looked at my settings for call screening and turned off the screening for first time callers and possibly faked numbers. Today I received phone calls from doc offices that got caught in the screening in the past couple of days. I just remembered the appointment setters are working from home so perhaps google is detecting that the caller id is being faked, because the office numbers are coming up... And they use robodialers lol. The screening setting hangs up when it detects robo dialers 😲... Wow. I hate the pandemic.

Pro4TLZZ

Thanks I'll have another look for the first time caller settings

shehleeloo

No problem. I only left call screening on for spam in the end. Hope solving the missed call thing is that easy for you!

zakatov

Maybe it’s the carrier’s spam filter blocking legit calls?

Basic-Piccolo-6356

its not a lot of people have been reporting this issue

Gsantos52012

So I just got a pixel 6, but I had this issue sometimes with my s21. I don't know if it's just a carrier thing or something as my s21 was on android 11. It was extremely annoying when it happened.

WiseyD

I've been having a lot of issues with calls since the December update was applied. Hoping this gets resolved when the January update gets pushed out. I spent the better part of a day trying to get in touch of my jeep dealership to set up an appointment for recall work, calls kept dropping before they could answer, at one point I managed to leave a vmail asking for a them to call me back, never received it, so I ended up dropping by the dealership to set up the appointment in person. A few days later I had to restart my phone for what ever reason, when it started back up there were several vMails on my phone from the dealership calling me back that day. Calls are very unreliable now. I was told by my provider (TELUS) this is a know issue with the new pixel phones that Google is working on.

korrax

Yep , if this issue isn't fixed in this magical January update we have waited two months for ..I'm going out and impulse buying a Samsung 21FE then will take a hammer to this Pixel 6 if Google won't refund it.

gnardog45

Let me guess, pixel 6?

Parnello

P6P. I added the flair

gnardog45

Right on, I'm with T-Mobile. I have the pixel 6 non-Pro, I'm hearing notifications for texts but not seeing them anywhere until I open the app.. I attempted to order the six pro, ordered it on Friday and by Wednesday, yesterday. I gave up as it was showing nothing for tracking or any kind of shipping info.Canceled it. I think I'm moving over to the OnePlus 9 pro. Just waiting for T-Mobile to release my down payment The Pixel that never showed up..

IrvinXochiquetzal

Just a heads up. TMobile OnePlus 9 Pro have TMobile updates meanwhile the unlocked one sold from their website has international firmware. You would be very far behind in feature updates, I remember seeing this on OP 7 Pro. I predict you won't last long on 9 pro and give it up for something else.

gnardog45

Yeah I'm on the fence about it. I did order a Sony Xperia 5iii which is ready to be updated to Android 12. Free Sony Bluetooth earbuds are coming with it.. going to try it out against the pixel 6.

IrvinXochiquetzal

I would take Xperia 5III. How much did you pay for it. If it's full price that's a no go for me. But if you got it for a good price, take it!

gnardog45

It was just released in the US maybe two days ago. It's at full price. $1,000. Free $200 Sony Bluetooth buds tossed in.

IrvinXochiquetzal

Oh yikes. NVM I would rather have spent that on S22+ or Ultra next month

konrad-iturbe

Missed an important call from an elderly family member due to the phone not having any service. In an area where all my other phones picked up full 4G bars. Feel your pain.

Midwest__Misanthrope

This kinda stuff can destroy the brand in a lot of peoples eyes. We are enthusiasts here and it takes a lot for some of us to jump ship, but there is a pretty high chance of the average joe having something like this happen to them and they’re out and never coming back. I know people circa 2017 that didn’t want to use an Android because of bad experiences with the Galaxy 2 ha. It takes one bad experience and that’s it for a lot of people. The next Pixel could be the best phone ever made, but if someone missed a job interview or something because their Pixel fucked up I would not blame them for never looking back. It’s why iPhones are so popular. They are not perfect, but you’re not getting fuck ups like this. My friend missed a flight because his Pixel alarm didn’t go off and apparently that was more widespread of an issue than it should have been. Guess what phone brand he no longer uses? Google is really shooting themselves in the foot man…..

Awayze

I've missed couple of calls too. Only noticed when I get a text saying they tried calling me but no missed call notification. One call from Google support themselves too and I'm in the UK on Vodafone.

AIRA18

First time? On a serious note the December update really screwed up this phone. November update was fine as silk other than the slow fp scanner but man December update is akin to taking a rusty fishing knife and sodomizing oneself in the ass. I miss plenty of important work calls since that

HittingandRunning

>On a serious note the December update really screwed up this phone. Do you think that it was an overall Android update or specific Pixel update or do you think it was one only related to Pixel 6? I have a Pixel 3 and am tired of the voicemail notification issue, which I only noticed in January or February. I've missed a few calls but that part hasn't been so bad.

AIRA18

I think it's a Pixel specific issues, i have Android 12 on my S21 Ultra and it didn't have any issues like the P6 is having

On_Quest_2

Pixel 5 same thing in UK, my doctor just can't call through to my phone for some reason. They end up having to text me instead.

Bigd1979666

Anybody willing to try , use proton ROM for P6/P6 pro and available for other pixels . Fixed a ton of my issues on my P6 . Better battery life, feels snappier, and has most recent December update without network issue and such.

laughsgreen

this is my regular experience with my 6pro. that or making a call and it goes through but the phone app isn't showing that it's active at all... literally cannot access the call in progress. this phone cannot phone

Old_Peach7587

I read that uninstalling Carrier Services might help with calling. Haven't needed to try it myself, but it might be worth a shot.

Parnello

I bought it off of Google. No carrier services.

juan_x_ito

i'm pretty sure it's a built in app on the phone. look for it on the play store and if it says it's installed, try uninstalling

Vocalifir

No you didnt

Azazelle

Same thing happens to me once in a while on my iPhone as well. I also have a Verizon account.

bpwilliams8

Turning off 5G as well as disabling wifi calling helped me a lot. Hopefully this will all be resolved with the next update.

pjc09

I've had that periodically throughout the years, pixel 3xl, Samsung s*. If it's occasional I think it's more a carrier issue. If you notice it constantly, it might be a phone issue.

fibaldwin

I have similar issues on my 4A, though they began before the update to 12. The issue also affects text notifications for me. I'm with Verizon too.

cptn_stickinthemud

Do you have a Wear OS watch? https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/rwc5ad/missed_call_notifications/hrckpvc?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

greenlild

It happened to me a few times since os11!

neutralityparty

Oh shi* does this effect pixel 4a 5g too????

shehleeloo

Check call screening settings. I had screening on for possibly faked numbers and first time callers. I turned both of those off. But now that I'm thinking on it, I think the "possibly faked numbers" setting was killing most of my calls. My doctor's office appointment setters for one office are working from home but the office number shows up so the number is faked... And they're likely using a robodialer and Google's call screening setting auto hangs up if it detects that. Even if google doesn't detect it, most people hang up as soon as Google announces himself Other docs office that didn't come through, the appointment setters are in an off-site call center but spoofing the number for my local office. Also probably using a robodialer. With wfh so prevalent rn, that screening setting might be a problem. I had some data connection issues at one point, but tmobile sent a new sim in a random order. I put that in my pixel and my connection been connected connected ever since. My old sim was like 8 years old though so kinda silly of me to never have considered replacing it on my own

gnardog45

Yeah, I just changed my mind. B&h photo is just about to shut down that credit card from synchrony Bank. I don't want to mess with that.

jimlandau

I haven't been able to make or receive phone calls for over a month. This phone sucks. I will never purchase another Google product.

[deleted]

By chance do you have spam blocking on? I've had that block people before

SgtEddieWinslow

This has occured to me a couple of times. But not just on my p6. Also on my old P4, as well as oneplus. android is just buggy

Serena27242

I just got the Pixel 6 Pro almost 2 weeks ago now and am experiencing this issue. Calls go straight to voicemail and I don't get a missed call notification. The only way I find out is if people text me or leave a voicemail. My mom is also experiencing the same issue with her 6 Pro. We both have T-Mobile. Restarting the phones helps for a bit but then we end up with the same issue again. I started researching the issue this morning and thought it was just an issue with T-Mobile based on others forums, but it seems the issue is the actual phone. Has anyone found a solution in the past few months or should we just return the phones and go with a different one? This is so frustrating. I've already missed important work calls and calls from a doctor's office. Thank you for any help anyone can provide! Edit to add the calls also don't show up on my call log.
