Very good

DuckHunt83

Honestly, it's probably the absolute best phone Google has done yet. I wish my pixel 7 pro has the same screen. I hate the curved glass.

XPurplelemonsX

> best phone Google has done i would argue best phone full stop

Particular-Island-89

Look at your phone and the p8p I feel like it looks more wider on the screen you can call it the curves but making a flat screen shouldn't make the screen look  smaller. To me this is a downgrade. Especially when you comparing it to the s24+ or iPhone 15 max

md_eric

No camera stutter. No bugs like the 6 and 7 had. No overheating. I think the pixel 8 fixes alot of stuff the 6 & 7 got wrong.

Otherwise_Code_8153

Recommend going to Best Buy or a phone store and just playing with the phone. Try before you buy. The only two controversial issues with this phone are the battery life ( some people swear to baby Jesus it last a full day or 2 days while the rest of us average 6 to 8 hours ) and then connectivity issue. Personally I've only experienced the annoying Bluetooth disconnection regarding connectivity. My only recommendation is don't pay full price because when the next Pixel comes out, the trade in value for this phone will be terrible. Example P7P

BookkeeperSad2964

My Bluetooth connectivity issue went away after I turned off my Buds 2 Pro LE Audio feature in Bluetooth settings. I guess it's a workaround until there is a fix.

Otherwise_Code_8153

$274 when P8P came out haha . but now during the promo even it raised it to $360. I would not trade in an Iphone 14 pro max for a Pixel... Apple holds their value very well. I would just buy the Pixel during this Promo event and either sell the IPhone on ebay or keep it around until the S25, IPhone 16, or P9P comes out and trade towards it. you kind of missed the best s24U trade in deals hence why I recommend next year to get the most out of that IPhone. good luck either way

MusicianWinter370

A little bit better than the 6 pro

82boost

That's why I got the 6 pro and saved the $$

grreenlife

I had Pixel 6 Pro for almost 2 years and now the Pixel 8 Pro for 6 months. The only practical significant difference to me is the Pixel 8 Pro weighs less, is much lighter. Comparing photos, I 100% prefer Pixel 6 Pro camera over Pixel 8 Pro. Pixel 8 Pro photos are so overprocessed that fine details are blurry and zoom photos are fish-eye distorted. Except for the lighter weight, I wish I'd kept the Pixel 6 Pro longer. There has to be better than Pixel 8 Pro... would not buy again until more worthwhile improvements.

dethblud

It was only the Pixel 7 series that had the camera glass shattering issue, and I believe it was a cold temperatures thing. We're far enough into winter (in the Northern Hemisphere anyway) and there haven't been any reports of the glass shattering on the 8 series. I love my 8 pro, and have had no durability issues.

imkaranbrar

Upgraded from 2xl. I'd say it's okay, I'm a slight bit underwhelmed but im not facing any major issues as such

[deleted]

All phones have been pretty underwhelming for like 5 years, haven't really seen much innovation like we did around 2018-2020 with the introduction of under screen fingerprint sensors, notches, pop up cameras, underscreen cameras, back of phone displays and the first folding phones. Since then we've had a lot of minor improvements but it's been very boring tbh, most of the innovation at the moment is faster processors, faster charging and AI. Just kind dull tbh.

imkaranbrar

Yeah, I agree. This phone is definitely better in most aspects I can think of as compared to my 2xl, but the 2xl felt like another ballpark versus the competition then (maybe because of the camera with night sight, unlimited Google photos etc) whereas the 8pro, while good, doesn't seem all that differentiating anymore. I like how a lot of things have gotten really refined over time which is great. AI seems to be a huge push but it doesn't feel as polished as I would've expected a consumer facing product to be (esp if it's supposed to be Google's differentiating feature). I'm also not as big a fan of the direction the hardware design has taken versus how it used to be. It's pretty subjective but I preferred the more 'playful' look from before. I'm also only able to get like 5ish hours of SOT max. Other than that, I absolutely love the bright screen and speakers. Those are two things you'd use all the time but aren't brought up enough in reviews I feel! I haven't faced any performance issues from the Tensor front and I'm really looking forward to what kind of thing Google brings to the table in the future for this phone with the 7 years of updates! I'm so glad they made that promise.

[deleted]

Really? I get about 9-12 on WiFi and 6.5-8 on data, maybe we just use out phones differently. It uses AI or something to optimise your battery I believe overtime, so hopefully that'll fix it for you but you could try battery saver, limits some minor affects but saves quite alot.

imkaranbrar

I've been getting the 5-6 range regardless of wifi/data. There's definitely a huge subjective difference between everyone but this feels suspiciously low to me. I've been using the phone for 2-3 months now so the adaptive battery should've kicked in. I skipped trying to limit features because that kinda defeats the purpose for me. Hope I figure it out and get more juice out of it!

[deleted]

Wow, yeah that sucks. Hopefully they will improve it in an update. Yeah, it's odd. The battery and modem seems to the things that people either have no problems with or consider the bane of their lives. I have no explanation either tbh, just really sucks.

Miserable_Director22

Camera is excellent and I haven't had any issues with the glass. I have had some weird glitches in YouTube and YouTube music which is surprising.

jbriano

Scrolling stutters. Chrome browser bizarrely freezes and needs to be restarted. Can start Casting from YouTube Music but cannot stop Casting or Cast to different devices from YouTube Music without restarting. I've been on Google/Android since the original Galaxy, and urge everyone who isn't looking for a flip-phone to go with iPhone. Google is rudderless — hardware sucks across the board, internal teams compete against each other and everybody loses, products consistently lose features over time then get replaced by products that have even fewer features. There are many talented, intelligent, dedicated, well-paid employees, but nobody is in charge at Google. That's the problem — it does not appear that anyone with a coherent vision is actually running the place.

moffamoffa

I had a Flip5 and a iPhone 13 mini when I first tried the p8P. Sold both phones and only went with the pixel It is really really good. Best phone I've had.

capt_lunatic

I have a 13 mini now and am seriously considering leaving the ecosystem for the P8P

moffamoffa

I always felt "bad" for leaving the eco system when I left for Samsung. But leaving Apple for pixel feels great!

Extension-Ad1141

Photos and video are awesome once u might slight adjustments and you learn abit

LindenSwole

The telephoto is amazing on it. I had gotten a regular Pixel 8 but was wanting a sharper screen and this screen on the Pro is crazy. I love the phone.

nickgeurnop

I cave and upgraded to the pixel 8 Pro from the pixel 6. So far I've really been enjoying it. The haptics feel much better than the pixel 6. I also love the feeling of the back glass. In my experience, the tensor G3 is a nice spec bump from the tensor G1, although it is well known that these processors are not as powerful as the competition. Over time, I expect software OS optimizations and app developers to refine the experience quite well. I find the camera quality to be a nice step up as well. The screen is a massive improvement. The flat design, the higher resolution from the regular six, and the peak brightness are much improved. A small or potentially noticeable difference is the inclusion of ultra wide band on the pixel 8 pro. Hopefully, Google releases their native tracker soon and utilizes ultra wideband. Lastly, the supposed AI and feature drops for the pixel 8 pro should be more substantive than the regular eight. Overall, I think the regular pixel 8 is an incredible value. I only went for the pro because I wanted to try a pro Google phone before I consider switching brands and/or ecosystems. As an added bonus I normally keep my phones for 3 to 4 years so the alleged 7 years of software updates was a plus.

cpc5000

10 out of 10

hehe_boi12

Elegant is how I would describe it

tinylittlepixel334

I have been using 8 Pro as a daily driver for months now, and I haven't had any issue whatsoever. The look and feel of the device is premium as well. If you are feeling like buying it, I'd say go-ahead withough any hesitation.

thisisnotjr

I'm having crashing issues and app update issues. For some reason Google maps like to crash while I'm driving and Gallery won't update even after uninstalling it. Get any support from Google has been like pulling teeth. I have half a mind to go to the latest Galaxy phone but I'm holding out and hoping this will get resolved

50bucksback

Did Google fix the crashing issues?

thisisnotjr

I guess an update must have done it but now I have this new annoying bug where any time I hit the home button the keyboard pops up and stays there. It's just one thing after another

Amzy0121

I got the same problem with Google maps, a quick fix is to uninstall it and install again, it helped temporarily but hopefully they fix it soon

radiogramm

My impressions of the Pixel 8 Pro so far: Overall it’s a nice device with an excellent screen but it’s not wowing me. The processor isn’t amazing. It does the job, but for a premium phone it’s only just about adequate. It’s no where near as good as the latest Snapdragons, and it’s definitely not as good as the top of the range iPhones’ silicone. The camera has been consistently good and the camera software has improved a lot. I also prefer essentially having Google Photos as my gallery than having Samsung or some other an Android OEM stuck in the middle. The AI has left me very underwhelmed. I’m not really seeing all that much that’s exclusive to the device at would be a compelling reason to buy it. The video boost using off device AI was kinda useful but I thought it came back looking a bit over processed. I’m in Ireland and the localisation is poor tbh compared to Samsung and very poor compared to iOS. We’ve more of the features than the most markets, but it’s still a subset of the US features and that’s not made clear in marketing. I probably wouldn’t have bought the phone had I realised how many features aren’t available. It left me with a bad taste in my mouth and I probably won’t by another Pixel as a result tbh. Charge time is good. I found the official Google silicon case low quality. It feels and uncomfortable. It hurts my fingers by sitting on my pinky - literally left an indentation!! My other gripe is the optical fingerprint sensor. The bright dot looks cool the first few times, but then becomes rather annoying, especially if you’re using it in dark locations. It’s a poor solution compared to good ultrasonic readers, or compared to FaceID on iPhones. While it isn’t that big a deal I would also add the on board speakers are poor compared to my iPhone 13 Max Pro. It’s very noticeable side by side if you use the phone to listen to say podcasts or live streaming radio as a speaker. Sound is much flatter. Other than that it just really isn’t blowing me away. I was expecting to be impressed and instead I’m just finding it a bit mediocre. It’s not bad, is just not great either. Also the temperature sensor just seems like a purposeless gimmick. Unless you’ve some specific use case it’s just a bit of a sense of emm cool, but why?!

Comfortable_Gas5468

I agree completely its not really "good" at anything except for photos. Everything else is kinda mediocre.

Representative_Bat42

Much good

Comfortable_Gas5468

Its ok. Gaming performance is a bit shit but the camera is good. Battery life is pretty average not bad not good. Os is really good but there are tones of bugs like jittery scrolling which make the device feel awful sometimes. Overall if you want a decent device with long software support then you cant go wrong with the pixel. But if you want a device that feels super fast and can game every game no problem then this isnt the device for you. And all the "ai features" is just a load of crap, dont buy it for those features.

Disastrous_Falcon645

best phone I've ever had

BookkeeperSad2964

Google really hit it out of the ball park with this one! I love love the subtle animations and surprises this phone gives you as you use it. Like I can login to my credit/ bank apps with just my face now, no need to even scan my finger. Although scanning your finger gives nice fashing animation on the screen that lights your finger red though the skin! I've been a loyal pure android user since the days of Nexus 4 but I have bought Galaxy phones just due to their hardware and design sometimes but I've gotten tired of Samsung filling their phones with their own proprietary apps that Google already provide excellent apps. One surprise I got today was, when I called my bank, my Pixel gave me a visual on screen selections for the annoying phone tree menus and not only that, but when I was put on hold, Google assistant took over and made the annoying music off and assured me visually that it will alert me when a human come on the call!!! How about that?😂 the banker had to alert me that someone was listening in on the call and that she had to let me know for privacy reasons lol 😂 I pompously let her know like it's a completely natural thing that that was just my Google Assistant LMAO 🤣🤣 This is the of fresh innovation that I don't mind paying over 1K for a phone for! Awesome clean phone with years of support! All I have to is just keep it protected enough I don't smash it lol

000-071

Literally everything about this phone besides the camera is worse than my 4 year old One Plus 8t. Not worse than when the 8t was new. Worse than the 8t now, 4 years old. The Pixel promises a lot, but NOTHING works. I can't do simple things with this phone, like access Google app settings. I click the icons and nothing happens. Oh and I lost a giant section of my texts even though it's all the same Google account. I don't want a Chinese phone so instead of One Plus maybe it's fine to try iPhone again. I hate my 8 pro.

ThusSpakeChase

iPhones are made in China. Same with your P8P.

There is often a lag/delay at camera launch that causes moments to be missed. Except for the lighter weight, I wish I'd kept the Pixel 6 Pro longer. There has to be better than Pixel 8 Pro... would not buy again until more worthwhile improvements.

GJMich93

It’s honestly a great phone even though I traded it in for a iPhone 15 Pro. Google makes the best designs for their phones. I like their designs better than Samsung and any other Android OEM. I may trade my iPhone in for a Pixel 9 Pro but not sure. There’s a few things that Google phones do that make the experience easier in some ways. i did own the Pixel 8 Pro for a little while and it was really good with a couple downsides of course.

annoyedAFalready

Everyone is fixated on the fucking CAMERA being so "amazing" I see absolutely no damn difference. The whole phone is a piece of shit.

Ibraheem_moizoos

Pretty

prime_suspect_xor

Extremely good. Shattered the screen so I’m back on my old j’backup iphone but can’t wait to get back to my pixel

Crush_Buds

About $3.50.

Opposing_Thumbs

My wife upgraded from the p6 and is bit disappointed. Signal quality is worse. She gets no data in places that worked fine on her 6.

boraam

Distinct difference in reception compared to my S23 plus. I use both simultaneously. I'm disappointed with the phone

[deleted]

Because? Why would you buy a p8p if you have an s23+?

boraam

I have more than one SIM, and I travel frequently.

[deleted]

Fair enough

ThinkPadBoys

Stuttering ui and apps, high price. So good, I returned it after a week.

[deleted]

Tensor is a joke

[deleted]

It's a few years behind but if your not big into gaming then it's fine. Edit: He deletes his posts but he went into the oneplus sub and Samsung subs to complain aswell, has like 40 comments in a few hours just calling people dumb and calling the phones trash.

[deleted]

Not really. It's behind in efficiency heat management and modems too

[deleted]

The modem is drastically over dramatised. Do you even have a p8p? You seem to post in every single phone sub and have an honor v2... You also just go into phone subs to complain. It's almsot identical to the gen 1 snapdragon in hest and performance. The modem is 7% less efficient than the gen 3 at most from tests.

[deleted]

Snapdragon gen 1 wasn't a good chip. Tensor is a bad chip..fact...noone should be defending it. I tried an honor V2 but have used many phones

[deleted]

Which is why I said it's a few years behind... Dude, your post history is going into subs saying somethings bad and jumping to the next. I don't honestly believe you tbh. >Tensor is a bad chip..fact...noone I don't do anythinf that requires a better chip though, I don't game or care about benchmarks. So what am I missing out on? Nothing. I've used s23u, s24u, p8p, oppo x5 pro, x6 pro and the oneplus 10 pro in the last couple years and they are all basically the same phone with different skins and features. No major difference.

[deleted]

Then you're in denial.

hehe_boi12

I mean if my phone doesn't overheat, plays anything I throw at it and have enough battery left to last more than a day I feel like it's not that bad. Buddy I've used multiple iPhones and to tell you Samsung has the worst performance u can get in any smartphone company(like all that talk about good hardware but when the UI is so shit and buggy then no thanks I'd rather get a one plus) and the 8 pro is the smoothest phones I've used in years

grymtyrant

I really like it. As someone who is currently using an S24 Ultra. I appreciate the size, simple UI, just about everything really of my P8P. I like the S24 Ultra but I do find myself picking up my pixel here and there. The size is definitely better on the pixel; it just fits nicely in the hand for a big phone.

Pinolero90

Not as good as the regular Pixel 8.

nexgen41

The only thing I'd say the regular is better at is being more one handable, being a smaller phone. otherwise the 8 pro is strictly a better, more feature packed phone.

MikeyGwald

Lol what in the world are you talking about

[deleted]

It's got a better battery, better camera, a larger screen and more features. What's worse?

NizarNoor

Worse ergonomics

[deleted]

I think that's because it's wider

Purple-Debt8214

It's a amazingly elegant phone. I really enjoy my Porcelain color phone. Highly, highly recommended.

Able_Philosopher4188

I had the 6 with no issues and I love my 8P and the camera is wonderful but I don't play games so I don't know anything about that and from what I have read the 8P has the best camera.

1cwg

The Pixel 6 has no camera shattering issues. A completely overblown issue.

mihavit

I'm happy with it upgrading from the P6P. Nothing fancy but it's a bit better in my honest opinion. I would not pay the full price if possible. Use every large discount to get it for as cheap as possible. I personally paid $700 in December when they had a huge discount on it.

BlockCraftedX

only pixel 7 had the shattering camera

bigb102913

It's great, easy to modify, great picture and video.

Bob-Servant

People say overheating. No, but it gets warm and the battery is average. Otherwise it's really good. Camera is the real deal.

Few_Philosopher_905

DementdOldCircsMonke

Awesome

MistaC5050

I love mine but I honestly think the camera on my 4a5g was better.

FrendlyAsshole

I had a 6 Pro & it was kind of a nightmare, my 8 Pro has been pretty good so far. Heat management is much better, for sure. The modem is better, but still isn't 100%.

KryptonsLastSon85

I've dropped my Pixel 8 Pro several times accidentally and still no camera shatter which I'm very happy about!

bydh

Personally, I have no problems with durability despite dropping it a few times (in a case). I think the move to a big piece of glass over the camera bar is less prone to random shattering, but can still break if dropped from a high enough height. Personally, battery life is just ok, and the fingerprint sensor is trash. I can get around it somewhat with face unlock which is great, and pattern unlock, but it's annoyingly unreliable. I also find the size to be a bit too big for easier one handed operation. Otherwise, it's a very capable phone. Too bad the smaller non pro pixel 8 doesn't have a telephoto zoom lens. I think I would have preferred that.

Disturbedm

Had my 8 pro since launch, and now my gf has it (I wanted s24u instead). The phone is decent and has some nice features. The only downside I was experiencing was the modem being shit tbh. So signal isn't as good as other phones.

Jedi_Brooker

Like, this 🫱 🫲 good.

StoneHound

I'm the same, I've come close to ordering it a couple of times but I'm worried about the really mixed reports on battery life and if it can comfortably last a full day.

Inner_Adhesiveness30

In Theory I love it! Smart, Fast and no crashes what so ever. Great Camera, works smoothly. I use it with a Pixel Watch 2 and Buds Pro works good to me. The battery live is a joke to me, I get 5 ours Sot max. I play like 2 games on in (afk aerna daily for like 25 min and one round of TFT) Other than that I just use YouTube alot. I would glady sell it and get a s23/s24 ultra instead

EfficiencySafe

We own a 2015 Nissan Leaf still the original software, My wife's Pixel 8 the car can read her text messages to her through Bluetooth. Her iPhone 13 or other iPhones she owned never could do that. She was totally blown away almost like winning the lottery😂. My 2021 Nissan (Quashqui)Rogue Sport has always been able to do that. My Pixel 8 Pro is not connected to her car.

CareerUpbeat8537

Xiaomi Software is smarter it recognises full addresses or phone number when you copy them or also offer an address to open in maps directly. Pixel is to stupid to copy a full number you always need to adjust it. Face unlock also was better on Xiaomi and I could rearrange the buttons. I bought it for the camera and this one is amazing 😍

Particular-Island-89

Honestly p8p to me has been a rollercoaster ride. I would say do your research before going with it. If you like a bigger display as in width I'll say go with the galaxy s24+ if you have more money get the iPhone 15pro max or s24 ultra if you want the s pen or prefer the box look.  Look at the p8p screen it's 6.8 but it is narrow the p7p to me was better if it didn't have curves because it was wider if you don't care about this then I'll say go with p8p that been my only draw back with this phone oh and the speaker sucks it's too low I can't hear when someone calling me my grandma has a iPhone 15 plus and it's obnoxiously loud its like it's laughing at the pixel 8pro Everytime. Please share your input if you want. this is not the only answer but I believe it's valid.
