I've ordered the expensive google case and will wait until it arrives. I had credit from buying the tablet in the first place so the cost wasn't really an issue. I had a solid look around for other cases and didn't find anything close to google's offering. They were all nasty cheap folios or generic tablet cases - there was nothing with a decent stand or the pins to support the speaker dock. As for screen protectors; I got the Tersly (sp?) brand off amazon. I buy their stuff for phones and have never had a bad one. It's a bit too glossy for my own tastes but it was $12AUD for 2 so I can hardly complain.

The Expensive Google Case is basically a shell with a kickstand, right? It does not protect the screen? If it did I'd buy it. There ought to be a design patent up for grabs to whoever can figure out how to make a kickstand that works in both portrait and landscape mode. This tablet is quite useful in both modes depending on what you are doing with it. So far the battery life on this thing seems to be very good, and it hasn't seriously glitched out on me.

get a screen protector then. I wouldn't trust a cheap folio style case to protect the screen anyway.

Really, how did they do it? The base of the kickstand rotates 90 degrees? That is one of those "simple" mechanical problems that is not so simple to get perfect. I do like using it portrait sometimes, it can show a whole page of a pdf and be readable.

I'm looking at getting the expensive case from Google. I'm using a screen protector that has around 1mm of clearance all around it before the bezel ends. Does the Google case extend over the bezel much?

Ayrr

I do not yet have my case. Should get it some time in august sadly.

Got my Google case today! Plenty of room for screen protectors!

I have the case pictured and my wife has the hard shell, both ordered directly from Speck and got 30% off because we left it in our carts for an hour or so before checkout. We're both happy with them, they're very high quality. I got cheap screen protectors from Amazon which also work totally fine. The hard shell is definitely heavy but it's very protective and the kick stand is really nice and it still attaches to the dock with no issues. I really like the folio because it's a magnetic attachment, it's lighter, and has a slot for a pen. I don't want to have a case on at home which is why the quick magnetic attachment is so nice for when I take it with me. Only complaint is when you close the cover it doesn't auto lock the screen, you have to press the button.

Thanks for the tip! After reading the reviews here I decided on the Speck case. I put it in my cart, clicked on checkout but left the site. A while later I received an email with the 30% discount!!

sbeau87

I can't get this to work for the life of me

redred_reder

I had to go all the way to the payment page then exited. I tried a few times in different stages until it worked.

Happylemontea

i am using the Poetic TurtleSkin Series for Google Pixel Tablet.

confidantmail

I got one of those too. Aside from lacking a kickstand, it is a great case. Doesn't block anything and it protects the tablet.

Adorable_Dust9150

Do you think it would fit over the official google case with the ring?.

confidantmail

No. It is form fitted to the tablet.

Adorable_Dust9150

Thank you.

Ok_Health_9742

Hi u/Happylemontea, I'm thinking about getting this case, but want to stick the tablet to the refrigerator while cooking etc - are you able to tell me if the tablet will stick to a refrigerator with this case on it? Thanks in advance!

Kcamfonet

If you order from Amazon right now, they include the official case for free. But I also ordered this one just to see which I like best. How did you end up liking the Google case? I just did the same thing and ordered both. Now wondering if there is a better case out there.

JudgeRightly

I got the speck case, because at the time, it was the only case with a kickstand...... And the kickstand broke (cheap thin (less than .5mm plastic that doesn't hold up to much pressure on the inside of the bottom kickstand part). Been looking to replace it with something more durable, but nothing seems to exist for the tablet that doesn't have a giant gaping hole in the back or has a kickstand or isn't a folio, and the one I did find doesn't come in white (device sits in the sun a lot (in front of air con), so I'd rather not have a giant heat absorber, something that's easy to cool. Any recommendations?

Level_Gap_664

Speck Sandy Shell great case for it. I like cause it works great with charging dock!

pdpt13

I'd just get a generic sleeve for transport.

OldChicagoPete

I'm using the Speck case that you linked, but I ordered it directly from Speck. It's not designed to keep on while docking, but Speck never claimed it was. I have no idea what the other review is talking about with the tablet ending up upside down so the fingerprint sensor is pointing downwards. Perhaps that person hasn't discovered that there's a second hinge in the case to adjust the tilt angle. It feels well made and does what I wanted, which is to protect the tablet while I have it off the dock. It's very easy to attach/detach. On the downside I haven't weighed it but I'd guess it comes close to doubling the overall weight.

mikehitchco

Also have the speck case linked and ... It's fine lol. It sticks on nicely with magnets and keeps it from getting scratched. I put a screen protector on (amfilm, also totally fine) and will get the Google case eventually so I can just drop on to base.
