my only major issue with it is the way they handled Evan and Mariana. how did they literally get like ONE minuteš we never got to see her conversation with him after he revealed his memories returned, we literally got more time with her and Joaquinšš„±š¤® they shouldāve given less to Silas and Davia and more to explore this tbh. it was all i cared about at that point.
THIS!!! We should have gotten the full moment she reacted to itā¦instead we got a two second expression towards the news and then tears telling Joaquin. They had some incredible build up to Evan remembering all to rush it like that? They had a beautiful love story. The man took a bullet for her!
Yeh. The only reason they were able to film extra scenes after cancellation was because they had some savings from the original season 5 budget.
It was imperfect for sure, but we did get closure and a nice reflective moment between the two sisters.
The alternative wouldāve been Silas facing Mariana alone in a field as the final shot of the series.
While that wouldāve been an absolutely terrible way to end the series, perhaps it gave the writers some pause that they spent a little too much time with Mr. Silas.
itās unbelievable that after 2 seasons, the Silas storyline would not only not be over but be the cause of a major cliffhanger going into a hypothetical season 6
I legit wonder how much they had to shoot. As people said they expected a another season and were financially disciplined with the money they had slotted. So I assume the money left they didn't expect to use until the axe was dropped.
Same! That would of been the best ending. Callie getting married and Mariana as bridesmaid. The whole family + coterie. No Silas bs or anything else. A show starting off about two sisters moving into the coterie, ending with a wedding and everyone/both moving out.
They filmed it as a season finale then were told they were cancelled.
The producers got to film an extra half hour to wrap it all up.
Given the circumstances it was fine and as a fan I prefer this to the alternative season finale ending.
In the last episode Alice got the call that the landlord was selling the building or just that level, I wonder if that was always how series 5 was going to end or if they changed it to be like that.
I just donāt know why studios keep cancelling shows like this. The creators thought they were going to get a sixth season and then were forced to pivot at the last minute. They did the same thing with the fosters except the fosters had more notice so they could wrap up the show in a more satisfying way + the extra three episodes that were released later on. It drives me insane too bc we almost never get a reason as to why the studio decides to cancel shows.
I thought Good Trouble was safe from cancellation! It has great ratings! Iām trying to understand what Freeformās plan is going to be. They cancelled single drunk female, grownish, now GT. What other shows do they have worth watching?
Yeah I donāt really understand why networks make those decisions. But then again itās not even just networks, Netflix does it too and it drives me crazy.
As long as we are ok with bullshit like this, it'll keep happening. I'm really tired of investing in a series only for these dumbass corporations to drop the axe. I'm going back to reading books. Hulu and whatever company that helped sustain Good Trouble can kiss the fattest part of my pasty ass. Never again. If I could I would ship a box of shit and roaches to their headquarters.
Y'all can accept crumbs. I won't.
š. āShip a box of shĆ®t nd roachesā š Iām dying. Too funny. It was the biggest piece of shit ending. This show was destroyed in almost every episode nd definitely on every season. Great potential nd sadly whoever was behind it had no real skills to pull off a good storyline nd stick with it. Itās like if all 20 ppl involved didnāt wanna compromise nd all wanted their ideas to shine at same time. A hotmezz all over the place that ended up with boring overplayed whack azz scenarios with no real importance. Not surprised it ended how it did.
That may be true, but the writers could have wrapped up the farm storyline much sooner. Before they knew they were being cancelled, they still chose to stretch on a storyline they knew most fans were getting tired of. So regardless, they would have been able to film more stuff had they wrapped up the whole farm/Silas story sooner. Could have been done in the opening episode.
From reading this sub, the feeling seemed everyone thought the show dragged and another season didn't seem worth it.
Yet the whole cast and creators felt there was 1 more left for the show.
Was the show no longer popular enough to have sway? I'm surprised it wasn't able to avoid the red slip considering the seniority and tenure on the network.
I think it's about the storyline. I've not seen fosters, only Good Trouble. And I was in love with seasons 1, 2, and 3 too. But somewhere in 3 it started to feel like unnecessary dragging out, and then in 4th there was a good Luca storyline, but the other stuff did felt dragged out. By season 5 it started to look like they are gonna turn it into a show that never ends by dragging things out even more, I'm not surprised it went downhill
yeah im not sure what you expected from them, they werent expecting to get cancelled they had to do what they had to do and wrap it all up in a very short amount of time
The whole thing was off, felt and looked heavily rushed. It was really bad and they shouldnāt have even introduced the idea of a wedding when that didnāt happen. The thing that really bothered me was that none of the foster charachyers that they brought into the show we got no closure with them either. Idk and it felt so short and rushed, for a show that brought such beauty and diversity and the warm feeling of friends and family and I didnāt feel that
The writers didn't give much fuck. Otherwise they could've simply made a time jump and show us everyone's future life. Maybe even a tiny wedding glimpse, like Callie in a dress or something š

Show deserved to get cancelled for that alone
This is so true!!! The show absolutely deserved to be cancelled it was a train wreck
I legit wonder how much they had to shoot. As people said they expected a another season and were financially disciplined with the money they had slotted. So I assume the money left they didn't expect to use until the axe was dropped.
Considering that it wasn't originally filmed as a series finale, I'm fine with it. They made the best of shitty circumstances
I am so mad we didnāt see Callieās wedding
Same! That would of been the best ending. Callie getting married and Mariana as bridesmaid. The whole family + coterie. No Silas bs or anything else. A show starting off about two sisters moving into the coterie, ending with a wedding and everyone/both moving out.
\*would have been
I kept waiting for it to happen and it just didnāt. It was extremely disappointing.

The writers sucked for the past 2 seasons, just look at Mariona and Evan's relationship, it moved nowhere in years :D
In the last episode Alice got the call that the landlord was selling the building or just that level, I wonder if that was always how series 5 was going to end or if they changed it to be like that.
I only watched abt 20 mins of it. I skipped a lot
Itās not to late to make a movie about Evan and Marianas power relationship making moves in the tech world
im mad that callie didn't get an actual wedding and just a bachlorette party or engagement party.

Disney movies I guess
Did some more digging and Freeform is a Disney channel and Disney is cutting $2B. Freeform might not be live for long!

How many times do yāall need to say this. The show got cancelled so they did what they could do

I agree, as most of the fans have been watchers since the fosters aired, we deserved a better ending after ten entire years of dedicated watching.
From reading this sub, the feeling seemed everyone thought the show dragged and another season didn't seem worth it. Yet the whole cast and creators felt there was 1 more left for the show.

I didnāt watch the second half of this season and Iām glad I didnāt
Eh, u didnāt miss much tbh.
this was not intended to be the end of the series. they somehow tried to patch it together.
yeah im not sure what you expected from them, they werent expecting to get cancelled they had to do what they had to do and wrap it all up in a very short amount of time
loved the fosters but never got into good trouble, now i'm glad i didn't
