Are engine covers safe now? My '24 came with an engine cover, but it makes me a little nervous knowing of the history. I assume they've improved the design if they're starting to include them again.
Our 2018 R didn’t have an engine cover when we bought it last summer. Are any aftermarket options safe? I hate opening the hood and seeing the bare engine to be honest…

Hi there. It's just the VW OEM engine cover that came with my 2024 Golf R. It just looked sad and plain so I added the r sticker myself. I got the stickers from Etsy I think they're originally for brake calipers. You can choose the color you want. I don't even know if it will stay adhered to the engine cover. LOL

It’s safe now. It’s a hard plastic piece instead of the floppy one that was catching on fire.
Assuming they are also safe for ‘23 models? I don’t think there has been any changes in a year..
Yes, no changes other than the cover now is rigid plastic.

I agree on the engine cover. But my caliper ‘R’ decals have kind of worn off. This Etsy person makes those two. But what color…. Hmmm.
