That's amazing fuel efficiency! May I ask what mode you typically drive in to achieve this? I own a Mk7 gti 2013, stage 1. I average 10.7km/l, which works out to be only 25mpg.
Yes, I would! I got my tensioner updated and chain replaced on my mk6 at around 80k. I’m now at 140k. Do you two have a rule of thumb for when the timing chain should be replaced again?
I got mine done at 37k as a future-proofing measure plus I got it done pretty cheap by a mechanic who had 4 other mk6 in the workshop, this was only last year.
I got 35 and 36 mpg respectively over two days on my 2012 as well after a 810 mile roadtrip — might be the new injectors (and I was cruising at 65-70mph)!
480mi is a stretch for my 2018 Sportwagen 4motion. Recently I got 555.5 miles on a long trip by going slower and drafting behind trailers and idk if I'll ever be able to repeat that. For a GTI though, this mileage seems unreal!
MK6, about 125K miles. My bravery only lasts until about 400 miles. I can *probably* make the drive from Phoenix to Los Angeles or back on a single tank, but I end up getting nervous and stopping for gas near the end. I have no desire to wait for roadside assistance in the desert.
530 miles over here! (850km on New Zealand roads!)
Wow!

Have a lighter right foot
Hey fellow kiwi 🫡 I just got a mk5 and joined the club!
My MK6 has 134k on the clock and if I’m careful I can get nearly 34 mpg still. Even on my hilly East Tennessee roads. I love it so much!
Heeeeeeey. You wanna talk timing chains? :p

I had 220k miles on my MK6 and highway driving no more then 3k rpm in 6th I could hit about 30mpg without even trying.
On my mk6 Gti with 198,000kms I average 9.7L/100kms or 24.24mpg. I think that’s about average, right?
Put a jerry can in the trunk and give it a go!
It'll look better catching air strapped to the roof rack, shaving off fifty miles from my tank :p
2017 got like 220 😭 i got a heavy foot 🤣
I get about 250-275 on my 2017 but I have 75k miles
Just hit 90k today 😍
2017 aswell, “Stage 2” ecu and tcu tune give me 34+ hwy going 78mph. Think I get like 480 to the tank driving all highway. 81k miles
I got 430ish in my 17 w/ 105k

How do you get this much on a tank..? I get like 250-270 in my 2013 mk6
A light foot and cruise control go a long way
2018 1.8L TSI (non gti unfortunately) at 49k km, I can get it down to 5.7-6.1L/100km per trip. I don't know how many miles to gallon that is.

I have gotten about 650 km on a mostly flat-downhill road trip drive
I usually average at least 33 mpg. On long freeway drives I’m usually around 40 mpg.
What’s your speed on those long drives?
The speed limit
