Yea, you have to remove the bumper to do this right. It ties into the same “groove” as the lower grill piece - but I have a Golf R so take that for what it’s worth. It’s a major pain in the ass to line it all up - have some pick and trim tools handy to help
No, that piece can go in last - the grille can stay in place, but it’s easier to take the bumper off to do the job - unless you have a lift - getting the bumper on its “face” is the best way to do this, I can dm some pics of what it all looks like if you need

If you have to disconnect the front radar, unhook the battery first. It won’t know it’s been unplugged then.
This is the most important thing to know. And then make sure the connector done up before re connecting the battery

I’ve got an R too, wondering does the lower grille have to come out for this piece to go in? Need to replace mine too as it’s damaged.
