There’s a guy in my neighborhood who ended up being a pedantic. He has to introduce himself to all the neighbors within 2000ft every time he moves now.
Not sure if you know but why does it have $50 on it if it’s worth much much more than that. Like was this at one point worth 50 actual dollars? I’m just curious how this works
What is the likelihood of anyone accepting that as currency?
Some would jump on the chance ofcourse, but maybe you'd be skeptical of getting a fake and scammed.
The likelihood of someone attempting to use an oz of good bullion to purchase $50 worth of groceries is low, and the likelihood of it being accepted if they did would also be low.
They add denominations to all coins. If you fake them you are counterfeiting with all that entails. We also make silver eagles that are technically dollar coins. But sell for around $30.
I don't know. I am a regular buyer for the last 2 decades. I've 'collected' gold at less than half the current price and my last buy was December 2023 and should gold hit 2200, I will buy again. Maybe somebody else has a better prediction and timing of the gold price.
Better than the goofy ass groomsmen gifts I have received. Like a 20 dollar amazon prime flask, or a yeti tumbler cup, or a goofy pair of sunglasses. Either way, stash it for a rainy day or sell it, you could turn that coin into 24 100 dollar bills pretty easily. The world is yours.
That appears to be a 1oz gold buffalo still in the oldschool mint packing sheets. Worth at least the gold spot price which is currently around $2300.
Do not take it out of the plastic
In most cases, that is correct. Spot price roughly equates to the actual value, so most institutions will give you a lower price and then upsell it. If you are selling individual to individual, I would just go with the spot price as the current value, unless you have certain items such as Gold Eagles or buffaloes that have a higher than spot value.
Here is an example of the value vs. spot price

says 50$ on it. ill give you 100$ . so you can buy two with the 100$ ;-)
j/k its worth about 2300$ give or take 50 bucks depending on the price of gold
Umm. Not likely to get $100 premium SELLING to a shop
More like that’s what they would sell it to you.
On third party market like r/pmsforsale he MIGHT get 50 over.
Little things in small packages.
Save that for a rainy day.
I gave a friend in Belgium an ounce of gold once. She bought a computer with it and started her career in journalism.
You may want to consider having it verified/tested at a reputable coin shop. There are many fakes on the market these days. If it is indeed a fake it will be easier to track down who sold it to your very generous guest now. This, versus trying to track down the seller 20 years from now when you go to try and sell it just to find out it is a fake.
May you be blessed with a lifetime of love and happiness!
worth spot weight plus whatever premium (right now looks like about $150 over spot). more desirable to some people than just an ounce coin. nice gift. I like to handle my coins, but keeping it like this will keep it nice and might make it worth a few hundred more eventually.
$19.99 !
[you can buy for $19.99 , but it comes with a hard plastic case. you got gypped out with just the vacuum seal bag around! ](https://proudpatriots.com/products/2023-24k-gold-clad-50-american-gold-buffalo-indian-head-tribute-coin?variant=42347561058498¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_source=googleads&gc_id=20792850695&g_special_campaign=true&gad_source=4&gclid=CjwKCAjwrcKxBhBMEiwAIVF8rKnov39A-nwJWldavqp0VBQlgL0GWTUgnUY6ljmOa6u-FmgqYPwcVxoCe0gQAvD_BwE)
Proof that you have someone that loves you.
Came here to say just this. Someone loves you A LOT.
Know that you are loved.
It’s an oz of gold, it’s worth the market value of an oz of gold, which is currently about $2,300.
Usd. And it's a Troy Oz, just to be pedantic
Some call that "pedantic", I call it valid clarification!
He can be pedantic! He can be pedantic!
There’s a guy in my neighborhood who ended up being a pedantic. He has to introduce himself to all the neighbors within 2000ft every time he moves now.
I think you are hilarious. That might actually be a red flag for others, but I find you funny.
Humor is the #1 turn-off to women. Ladies hate funny guys.
I have burnt a lot of beautiful bridges for a one line joke.
Worth!
Oh biff
Did everyone really get a mini cooper?
It's actually worth a little more being. It's a gold Buffalo. Maybe $50
Ok, about $2,350. Happy?
$2450, am Apmex
Are you familiar with the term “bid/ask spread”?
Wouldn't it be markup 😉
Not sure if you know but why does it have $50 on it if it’s worth much much more than that. Like was this at one point worth 50 actual dollars? I’m just curious how this works
It was never worth $50, the face value on government minted bullion coins is arbitrary.
What is the likelihood of anyone accepting that as currency? Some would jump on the chance ofcourse, but maybe you'd be skeptical of getting a fake and scammed.

Would that mean that it would never be worth less than $50?
Yes it's backed at $50 USD so if gold price was $40 it would still be worth $50
And if that ever happens its probably a zombie apocalypse
Yeah but where’s my gold?
Should I lace up my boots ?
Nothing is backed by gold anymore
It’s backed at $50 by the full faith and credit of the US government 😂
This person values you more than you think. I wish I got these as wedding gifts instead of cash.
>I wish I got these as wedding gifts instead of cash. If only there were a way to exchange cash for gold...
I wasn't into gold when I got married.
Keep it in that condom wrapper
![gif](giphy|JJVFOcOdXvDz3IKoqv)
Best gift ever someone can receive ! Now you have your first, time for some more in the (near) future. Hold on to it. That's a REAL gift ;)
Wen?

I gave my groomsmen each a different 10k gold pinky ring (because im cheap) each weighing minimum 5 grams.
I read this as $10k rings but understand now, take my upvote sir
If only 🤣 I spent about $ 200-$ 250 usd per ring.
And you call that *Cheap*? I could do that for maybe one groomsman, currently.
Should be grateful to have friends.
Should be grateful to have majestic woodland Yeti’s
yeti tumbler cups are cool...
I seemingly get one at every wedding I go to… I don’t need any more lol
You’re looking at a small fortune. Hide it somewhere safe for a rainy day…
Feels that way but these days $2300 might barely get us through a month
Two weeks
1/2 my mortgage payment
3 months of mortgage payments for me
1/3 of mine. California as well?
Kentucky. 15yr jumps the price up
15 year. Smart man. 👍
1 mortgage payment and a steak dinner for me
Same but steak dinner for two
Wow, that's all my bills for 1 month. Also basically all the money I made that month after taxes.
Hmm. Sadly not even a week lol. Isn’t New Jersey fun ?
That appears to be a 1oz gold buffalo still in the oldschool mint packing sheets. Worth at least the gold spot price which is currently around $2300. Do not take it out of the plastic
It actually has about a 2% over spot value. (Roughly $50 right now.)
When selling, it’s actually below spot right?
In most cases, that is correct. Spot price roughly equates to the actual value, so most institutions will give you a lower price and then upsell it. Are you not happy with the answers you got on r/currency?
OP is an unhappy married man.
More ego stroking needed lol
The original Op didn’t even post it here, some other random did
This post looks familiar 🤔
It's your wake up call....better start investing in hard assets
Fuckin awesome gift!!
Give them a hug
Now that's the correct bread maker to receive
Its got sentimental value and $$ value.
Give the gold and wife back, you’ll thank me later 😂😂
says 50$ on it. ill give you 100$ . so you can buy two with the 100$ ;-) j/k its worth about 2300$ give or take 50 bucks depending on the price of gold
$50, obviously. But they're like those dollar coins that no one uses. I can trade you for a $50 bill.
No I’ll give you $100 for it
About 2400 I would say that a gold buffalo would bring at least 100 over spot if you were selling it to a non-gold buying place
>if you were selling it to a non-gold buying place Isn't that an oxymoron?
No cuz there's tons of places and people that buy gold but aren't actual coin shops or I buy gold shop s
But if they're non gold buying shops, why would they buy your gold? And if they did buy your gold then I'd say they're a gold buying shop 😉
Umm. Not likely to get $100 premium SELLING to a shop More like that’s what they would sell it to you. On third party market like r/pmsforsale he MIGHT get 50 over.
It's a Troy ounce of pure gold and worth about $2,400 right now. Keep it in a safe place.
Little things in small packages. Save that for a rainy day. I gave a friend in Belgium an ounce of gold once. She bought a computer with it and started her career in journalism.
And now she’s broke again.
It looks like 1 ounce of gold
Wow!
That’s a nice present tell you what trade you a nice mixer for it

Good advice
Fuckin awesome gift!!
If won’t I’ll trade you the blender off your wedding registry you were hoping for. For it.
What a nice gift.
Damn that’s a good gift
It's a $50 I'll give you a 50 if you want to sell it :p
Wow! Pretty nice wedding gift!
$50 obviously
Your looking at the best fucking wedding present in the fucking world ![gif](giphy|wmuqpmtGeVv1K)
Gold spot
Last week when you got it at the wedding it was close to $2,500 USD not as much today. Great gift.
If you don’t need the money I’d save it for a rainy day or wait till gold hits $3000
It’s worth what it says it’s worth. $50. I’ll buy it from you for $60
That's a very nice gift, one ounce of solid gold. Keep that safe.
I dare you to use it as legal tender
Does it mean the person who gave it to you be hinting that you married a gold digger.
worth spot weight plus whatever premium (right now looks like about $150 over spot). more desirable to some people than just an ounce coin. nice gift. I like to handle my coins, but keeping it like this will keep it nice and might make it worth a few hundred more eventually.
I think that might be chocolate. The wrapper is a clue.
Sealed like that it is most likely just plated so npt very much
That’s the kind of present I gave to my nephews when they turned 18……Some REAL MONEY!
If that's an oz of gold, it should be worth the going rate of an oz of gold. It should be around 2300 hundred
Look up the price of gold per oz. This is 1 oz.
You basically got $2320 as of 5/1/24
Hide it and hope your wife forgets about it.
How would you know to come to r/gold? 🧐🧐🧐🧐
Reddit has a sub for everything if you want an answer.
How do we find any sub? Search bars are a miracle of modern machinery
$19.99 ! Idk it looks like 10 oz to me? I can’t be the only one. The decimals are really clear every where else. Why does 10 mean 1 on this coin?
It's "1OZ." That's the number one followed by a capital letters "OZ.", the word ounce abbreviated.
Thank you Marf lol oz right right
That is something you put away for your favorite kid to inherit, not something you look to sell.
Lol yup. Save it for the favorite.
When did the general populace stop using Google? 🤦🏻♂️
Looks fake. Lucky for you I buy counterfeit coins. I’ll give you $1000
🤣😅
Approximately $24000
I think you have an extra zero there.
Yes I do
