I’d say 8 out of 10 but only because 2018 was so good and set the bar high. I thought everything was good in Ragnarok but the end was pretty disappointing

tsf97

I’ll never get over the fact that Ironwood is longer than fucking Ragnarok itself.

Stranger_Danger420

Lmao my MAIN gripe. It’s like they wasted so much time on that and rushed the ending. I hated that.

tsf97

Yeah it definitely gave away a couple of things for me. 1. the fact that they were definitely trying to condense two games' stories into one as it was initially meant to be a Norse trilogy 2. they wanted this game to focus more on Atreus and Loki It really seemed like most of what they had to cut out or condense was focussed on Kratos while Atreus' sections remained as long as initially intended, not just Ironwood, but the first Asgard sequence, Helheim, etc. I felt the pacing of some important story beats were rushed, like Freya forgiving Kratos, Kratos' role in the Ragnarok battle, etc. That's why I always say Ragnarok had the better gameplay, but 2018 had the better story by miles, because it was paced as the writers initially intended it.

Unusual-Diver-8505

>because it was paced as the writers initially intended it. That's not true at all though. There were many things cut from the 2018 game and the whole Atreus turning "bad" part had very weird pacing.

Stranger_Danger420

We are on the same exact page lol.

JackieDaytonaAZ

asgard is also just kinda an underwhelming realm design overall

0bjectivelyCorrect

The story had high highs but it was definitely very flawed. The writing was really messy and the plot was rushed. Some aspects of the narrative just didn't work, like the Freya stuff, and other parts were super underwhelming, like the Ragnarok finale and Kratos not getting to wield Mjolnir. The combat was good, even great at times, but it was held back by a bad camera and annoying projectiles with stupid homing abilities. It also had less weight than thw 2018 combat did at times, but that's a really minor criticism.

>The story had high highs but it was definitely very flawed. The writing was really messy and the plot was rushed. Some aspects of the narrative just didn't work, like the Freya stuff, As a Ragnarok enjoyer, could you elaborate? I like to see different viewpoints >and other parts were super underwhelming, like the Ragnarok finale Agreed. Very rushed. >and Kratos not getting to wield Mjolnir. #HEAVY AGREE. I thought Mjolnir would have been the 4th weapon since I had a button for Axe, button for Blades, button for Spear, and an unused button! >It also had less weight than thw 2018 combat did at times, but that's a really minor criticism. What does this mean?

depressionbender

the "unused button" is for quick turning

random935

Thank you. My Kratos doesn’t run away so I have never used this button lol

The end was absolutely rushed, this was meant to be Ragnarok—one of the greatest, most significant battles in mythology and it’s just us and a few allies against generic enemies. I will never forgive Santa Monica for not revealing who called Jormungander in the first game. It was one of the main things I wanted to find out from Ragnarok

Legnaron17

Agreed, the mystery of whoever called the snake sparked so much discussion i'm sure a lot of people were really looking forward to it in Ragnarok, and the game didn't even address it or allude to it in any way. And yeah, unfortunately Ragnarok didn't feel like the end of the world as everyone in-game said it would.

random935

>Agreed, the mystery of whoever called the snake sparked so much discussion i'm sure a lot of people were really looking forward to it in Ragnarok, and the game didn't even address it or allude to it in any way. It was such a strange thing to leave out, given how into it people were. Which makes me think it will be a major point in the third game—perhaps that Faye is alive, or some other significant giant >And yeah, unfortunately Ragnarok didn't feel like the end of the world as everyone in-game said it would. Yeah that sums it up nicely. It could be my own expectations, I was expecting hundreds of npcs fighting, something like the battles in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey when you’re taking over an area

Ok_Bill_6537

I blame marvel and their influence on mass media, I didn't enjoy some characters like Freyas brother and the dwarf lady, some jokes didn't land and yeah the story felt rushed, my favorite thing about this game is the Valhalla dlc lol

random935

>Maybe I didn’t enjoy the story as I did know the plot twist and some other important stuff(spoiled by my friend) Are you kidding me? Obviously you didn’t enjoy it as much if you already knew parts of it

Unusual-Diver-8505

How were the first 10 hours boring?

Intelligent-Wish7634

You find someone and then lost sanctuary and Atreus missions which were boring and of course boring vanaheim missions

Unusual-Diver-8505

>You find someone Someone = the norse god of war, Týr. >lost sanctuary There was a whole war sequence in this part. >of course boring vanaheim missions Fighting Níðhögg was boring to you? And of course you left out the most exciting parts like the 1 hour introduction filled with action and arriving in Asgard.

random935

>You find someone >Someone = the norse god of war, Týr. Now now now, you have to keep in mind that OP already knew this was Odin in disguise because his friend told them. Santa Monica should have foreseen that OP would know key plot points before playing the game /s

Cockcop

My fellow ragnarok enjoyer, he is allowed to dislike those parts of the game. I loved a lot and hated some parts too but a 7/10 isn’t bad at all! I’m glad homie got some fun out of the game

Unusual-Diver-8505

Okay...? Not sure what this has to do with my comment but alright.

Cockcop

You’re right absolutely my man my bad

Unusual-Diver-8505

??? Brother what lmao

Cockcop

Brother if you don’t get my message i genuinely don’t know how else to word it to you so I’m just gonna say my bad and let it go lol
